Question about the Front Facing Camera - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought this phone from a gentleman last 2 weeks ago and I am loving this phone too much. Only thing that bothers me is the front facing camera. When I used to have the iPhone 4s, the front facing camera snaps selfies very good. But when I used the compact, the front facing is not very good, kinda poor and shows some purple pixels/shadowing like. Here is my question, Is it normal to do that? Does it have anything to related to low light performances in selfies? Or is the compact's front facing camera isn't good? Any advices to this issues? I would really appreciate if someone has an opinion about this or experience this......other than that, this phone is the beast!

Install Sony PC companion on your PC and try the 'repair' option.
If that doesn't fix it then call the Sony service center: 03705237237 (for the UK)
The phone has two year warranty, so you should send it back and see if you can get it repaired.
I sent mine back with a cracked screen and that was replaced for free..

Selfie quality

You're beautiful and everyone knows it. That's why you take selfies. Rate this thread to express how the front-facing camera of the LG G5 performs. A higher rating indicates that the front camera produces fantastic results consistently.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Would've been 5 stars if the front camera wasn't prone to suddenly getting really grainy, really dark, or really bright. Will update if the 10d update fixed that.
hello im new here. i dont know if you guys notice front selfie camera. at night while taking pictures, the camera lags, making picture quality blurry. i also notice if i smile while snapping the pic, in the outcome pic, im already not smiling and my eyes half closed, its funny. weird. heres another one. you save the pictures on SD card, there would be no lag/delay in camera , while if you change setting and change to storage to device, then take 2-3 pics then delete those pics, you will see a black screen for like 3 seconds before returning to the camera screen itself. please anybody...if theres anyone working for LG here, please fix. i have done the hard reset as the agent told me. but to no avail. i think this one needs another update , i love this phone but it needs camera bug updates because it gets so annoying already. given that the lg g5 has the 8mp front camera, this is weird.
i have the verizon one.
Hi
Hi, sorry, may i ask bout LG Stylus 2, i want to search about mirroring like samsung but i can not to find it. did you know how to solve it.
thanks
Front camera always looking a bit too smooth, like the beauty filter is active, but its deactivated.
Yeah, exactly.... When you are a girl that's probably good thing, but for man is freaking anoying with this filter, it looks really weird.... Any solution to this?
My front camera on my lg g5 is distorted, its blurred in the top and bottom of screen. I dont know why. Anyone experience this?
The front facing camera is great. I am very impressed.
Can't say the front facing camera is very good. Better than alot of other phones but its grainy smooth and loses so much detail.
Front camera on my G5 sucks totally. The highlights always get a pink tint and the camera doesn't feel like something that should be present in a flagship device. I have the OnePlus 3 too, which performs much better than my G5. Even the rear camera isn't as good as it should've been. I use the Indian variant H860 with the lastest software available for it ~ V10m
this one is better than s7 edge?

Back Camera is taking blurred pictures

hey guys !
My friend just bought an m5 a couple of weeks ago and he's experiencing a strange thing with the camera. The front camera is working just fine ,but the back camera is taking blurred pictures. When he focuses on something everything is sharp and good right until pic is taken and processed, the results are blurry pictures . Sometimes the camera takes normal sharp pics but the majority of the times its blurred ones, so I'm asking you guys : is it a common thing among all m5 devices or am I missing something in the camera setting ? could it be a software problem or is it more likely to be a hardware defect ?
I'd really like to have your opinions on this as I was the one to convince him to get a Sony device instead of a Samsung even though I'm a note user myself. The device is not rooted , running the latest stock Android Lollipop 5.1 .
Thanks in advance !

Just turn on HDR option

I find that the rear camera cannot focus beyond about 10m.
To take the best possible shot focus on something about 1m away in full daylight, if still bad, then definitely a problem.

I am observing the same thing with my Xperia M5 Dual- OK with close up shots only.
Does everyone think this is normal? Or should I be worried that I'd miss capturing important moments?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
I use Snap camera to avoid such things.
I had a similar problem. In my case the problem was that the hybrid autofocus did not work and only one of the two autofocus methods was working. The result was that roughly half of the times pictures were out of focus (randomly). I solved the problem sending the device to repair. They changed the camera and now everything is working fine. I think this is a quite common problem, since I read many posts reporting a similar problem. By the way: in my case using for instance camera fv5 resulted in good pictures all the time, since this software is capable of using only the working part of the hybrid autofocus. The problem was that focusing was very slow.
Can anyone confirm if the hybrid autofocus problem exists on M5 from 2016 (5.1 Lollipop or it happens just on 6.0.1)? If not sure about year, there is a sticker under SIM slot, use a needle or something similar to pull it. It should be 16WXX (XX is week the phone was manufactured).
Dear Developers, I experience the same main camera problem. The images are vague after 2 meters. I used fv5 app. But, still same quality. In fv5 app, the maximum resolution shows 3.1Mp(2048*1536). But, front cam shows good images and the back one very poor.*
What should I do..? I bought this new M5dual from Amazon yesterday.

Replacement LG G4 Rear Camera not focussing properly at a distance.

Hey guys. I broke the camera glass awhile ago and got some dust inside the lens of the rear facing cam leaving me with no choice but replacement. I first bought a replacement off of ebay... but it was a dud. My variant of the G4 didn't work with it. I have a Canadian Rogers G4. After getting my refund and doing some more research, I went for the fixez one (ow.ly/PSZL303Mjkv). Super smooth transaction. Easy install. Perfectly recognized by my G4. I usually mainly use the front facing cam, but a couple of months into having this thing, I'm noticing all pictures taken at a distance come out blurry. The phone has a hard time focussing unless it's super close. After completely resetting my device just to rule that out, same issue. I put the old cam in and found that even though there was dust present on the lens, it was perfectly capable of focussing at distances. To me, it looks like I've proved it out to be the Camera itself and not the device. Can anyone shed some light on this or help steer me in the right direction? I've reached out to Fixez and should get a response within 24 hours but I'd love to not have to go through the whole refund/search process again. Thanks guys! I love this camera, but know it can take way better pictures than I'm currently getting.

Blurry A5 2017 rear camera

Hi, I recently buy A5 2017 for my girlfriend. i thought the camera will be good since it have 16mp and Samsung brand. but, it turns out the camera is unusable. is there a setting or trick i don't know? because the rear camera always produce blurry photo even in good lightning situation. never have this problem with previous phone (oneplus x, iphone 5s, zenfone 3 and huawei p9), that in my opinion still produce usable picture even in dim light condition. do anyone have a similar problem? this is most expensive phone i ever buy but very disappointing camera performance.
for reference, my phone is like this video

read opinion on gsmarena about galaxy A series 2017. they said the camera is amazing. can someone confirm if your device camera is amazing? maybe we get defect phone or something. because my phone, even in good light situation still have blur problem when the object move a little. in dim light situation, not usable
PS: i am not talking about colour reproduction or something like that. i like to take my photo fast so i can capture moment in time. doesn't have to be perfect but at least no blur and my galaxy a5 2017 is the only phone that can't provide that to me.
Sorry, I though you are talking about FRONT camera, the photos from REAR are usually sharp, but when moving, the chance of sharp photo is like 3/10...
Rear camera is foggy in night ....and front camera is blury...very bed phone....as comparisn to my old one a7 16 no ois
Did you clean the lens? No offense.
Both the a5 and a7 have this issue... If you want one advice: turn the flash on, it really helps.
Blurry camera A5 2017
Purchased from J Lewis , reviews said camera was good , read many reviews saying the same . At first when I used the phone and found the browser had giffgaff as the default home page I was surprised. Contacted them and they could/would not explain the reason . So I then after finding the rear camera was rubbish , I began to think I had a poor copy .
I had the S3 and camera is very good , so to then purchase a new A5 2017, and find the camera is crap , shocked me .
Is there anyway Samsung could sort it in a software update ?
Or am I stuck taking blurry photos ?

Definitely sounds like an issue with the autofocus. To confirm, is this on stock firmware with the OnePlus camera app or gcam mod?
As the OnePlus 9 phones use a laser autofocus, I'd check that nothing is obstructing the focus lens first (to the right of the top camera sensor). If you have a camera glass protector, there ones I've used put a hole there to avoid distortion but with the downside dust builds up and I need a qtip to clean it.
If this is right, the reason it works at first is it goes to its default focus level on boot and tapping to focus then directs the laser
Its a stock firmware with One Plus camera app. No lens protektora used. She uses original case what was un the box.
Assuming the laser isn't at fault, I'd say there's likely defective hardware, multiple parts it could be though. You could try the gcam mod app and see if that helps, if it were better there, then we would know its software and not hardware, but that's unlikely given the problem.
Ok. Will try
