Smooth Running WatchFaces: 30+ FPS - Moto 360

I can definitely recommend WatchMaker if you are looking for a dramatically smoother frame rate.
Today I imported a bunch of designs (including boostr, etc) into Watchmaker, changed the rotation tags to {drss} for smooth turning … and they run like liquid on Moto360.
Warning: if you do import the faces, you may need to do what I did and fix up a couple of conditional tags but you can PM me for help if you need.
No problems with the battery life so far, but I will report back.

I can't seem to get this to work.
Whenever I try and send to my Moto360 it doesn't change.
I just get a blue background with a digital clock no matter what face is selected.
I've checked that I've selected Watchmaker as my watch face....
Facer works without issue.

Simple solution for your prob. Choose any current watchface availabe at "Hot watches" face, and let's it loaded to your moto360 successfully first. Then try apply your own modified/ imported faces, work smooth as butter bro.

Looks interesting. The sales page claims lots of apps are available and high customization.
I'm a little worried because I can't find any link to an SDK.
Good luck with it.
Nice find. Please update us with your review. I'm very curious about the notifications. It says, notification alarm? ??
So, wil it show the notification? Or will it only show an icon or play a sound?

imho, the success of any (non-standalone) smartwatch depends on the companion app that comes with it. AND knowing you'll get firmware updates (and know where to get them).
all those things that use BTNotifier or whatever version of it can't hold a candle to the like of Pebble, Sony Smartwatch 2 and Android Wear.
yes, these (china) watches are cheap, but you get what you pay for (really regret buying the U8 watch).
what kind of companion app comes with this watch?

That's why I never speculate until I get it in my hands. Once I receive it I will let you guys know how it works, battery life, and companion app. No doubt, without a proper app - it would be just a toy.
found this watch by accident. yes please give your most detail review for this one page didnt say compatible with my phone galaxy note 2 but since both has bluetooth 4.0 i think they are compatible.
i also want to know the o/s they are using. not android wear, i think?
Isn't really active here on xda, but wanted to tell you guys that I just bought this. So lets hope for the best that it's a good device
They say that there is apps being programmed to it already so there must be some way to program our own. So if anyone gets information about how to develop to this one please tell me/the rest of us

seems good
Looks great.
Will it be full compatible with an One Plus One? Thinking if it will work with an OPPO Find 7, I believe OnePlus One will made too...
Hmm is this has speakers and microphones so I can receive and make calls? (By connected to my mobile of course) . Need to decide between this or IKWEAR IK8 haha
Just got it today (DHL shipping was very fast).
First impression, it's very lightweight and thin. Magnetic charging cable is very much like in Pebble. The watch face is always on and you can enable backlight and motion (turns backlight as you move the wrist). Paired up OK with my Note 2. There is "weloop" app in Play store, but not everything is enabled in there yet. It seems that iPhone app is more complete while they are still working on Google app.
As of right now, from the app you can select Message Filtering and choose apps whose notification you want to be displayed on your watch. So you can get all your email notifications, txt message notification, phone calls, etc. There is also a way to access all recent notification history. You can use it as a remote shutter to take pictures and videos, and it controls music playback on your phone. The watchface replacement, silent alarm, and fitness app are not enabled yet, though it has a built-in pedometer to track number of steps, burned calories, and a total walking distance (though not sure how accurate it is).
It doesn't have android wear or any sort of android OS, it has it's own proprietary OS. There is no speaker or mic, obviously for battery conservation. One neat thing, I was able to check its firmware and it got updated over the air, no need to do manual fw update.
For now, this is just initial impression. Hopefully they will update android app version to enable all the features, especially changing the watchface of this clock. Once app is finalized and updated, i will write a detailed review with pictures.

Where is the Android support app? I can't find anything in the Play Store. Also, please post pics!
The app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yf.smart.weloop - and it's the same one if you download directly from weloop.cn (second link at the top in the upper right corner, brings up QR scan for the direct link). Unfortunately, a lot of the info is still in Chinese. As a matter of fact, I had to try a few options to figure out how to switch Chinese to English in the setup of the watch.
What I can say is that hardware and design are SOLID! Been using it for a day, still at 100% battery. It does all the basic notifications, and extra (with fitness stuff, music control, camera control). The app is a work in progress and from what I understand it's more complete for iPhones while Android is next. I also see they have a big community (all in Chinese, unfortunately) with people posting with their suggestion and reporting problems (per Google translator). So, it definitely got a lot of support and can only get better from here.
I will post a TON of pictures later today, but a full review will have to wait until I see a more polished app update. Just keep in mind, this is not Android Wear or modified Android OS watch. This is a very good clone similar to Pebble design with proprietary fw. I think the key here is a very long battery life, durability and waterproof rating, small and thin and lightweight, and all the basic notifications and controls (with vibration). There is no high res graphics in there, but the watch face is always ON and it can last weeks. I was just using it outside and even without backlight - it has a "sharp" contract (no pun intended since it uses Sharp screen and great visibility in a direct sunlight.

Thanks a lot for your review and the pics! :good: Its cool you got it although DX.com says the Shipping beginns at Sep. the 15th. Seems like it was a nice suprise as the DHL-guy came .
I have two questions you may could answer: 1. will it work with Android 4.3 devices? I know they say it does only support 4.4 but maybe they just say so, because they cant guarantee it will work with ANY 4.3 device at the time.
2. Do you think it is possible to change the strap? It doesnt look like an standard-srap, you say, but is it ever changeable? I am not a great fan of that TPU-straps.
THX
EDIT: @TomaszD84 - try the QR-Code from weloop.cn, it appears when you click on the 2nd of the 3 buttons in the upper right corner
Saw the device while browsing DX couple days ago, looked really promising and the YouTube ad looked really professional. I'm intrigued by the battery life, the only thing that has kept me from getting a smart watch is the pathetic battery lives of the watches. I don't need to charge my wristwatch(yeah so 90's...) every night. Can you tell more about the battery life now that you've used the device for some time?
If it had speaker and mic, I'd get one right away...
Yes indeed, it was a surprise to receive it so fast. As you can understand by visiting a link in my sig, I write hundreds of gadget and accessories reviews and get my review samples from manufacturers direct or through retailers such as dx.com since they can communicate with me in English. I guess it's a brand new product, and personally I'm excited about it because I have been following SmartWatches for awhile now.
I will try to see what's going on with that wristband but it doesn't look like a standard 22mm band, that's for sure.
4.3 vs 4.4, I remember notification was introduced in 4.3 where it worked before with my MetaWatch and older 4.3 on my Note 2 before the 4.4.2 stock update. But I can't say for sure if it will work for you. Might have to root to 4.4
Regarding battery, this is my 2nd day with a watch with a semi light weekend use. Will give you an update a week later. Right now it's still at 100%.

Facer vs WatchMaker - Side by Side

ok so I have posted a few times about both apps, but seeing as some really cool watchfaces have come out that use smooth second hands, I wanted to make a video to show a comparison of graphic-intensive watches with inbetween frame animations running with both apps!
Devices shown are Samsung Galaxy S4 and Moto 360.
The awesome watchface shown is Jarvis 2.0.
In both cases, i have turned on all smooth seconds settings and tags for both apps #DWFSS# / {drss}.

Watchmaker freezes and force closes if a file like jarvice is being used. Just be careful.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It used to. Works perfect since 2.4.0 release. You can see it working in the video!
Installed it to see what the fuss was about. I don't like any of the included watches, and unliker Facer it does push in-app purchases on you (want custom backgrounds? pay, want some of the "nicer" watches? pay). So that was a little offputting.
However, the smooth animation is indeed smoother than Facer's. I imported a few of my Facer watches, (and after paying $0.99 for the "Premium" unlock) changed the second hand rotation to smooth and it's almost like my real Bulova with its silky smooth animation. So I'm going to continue using it for the meantime
Can anyone comment on the battery life when using 50 fps?
Battery seems ok for me, btw thanks dangreene1 for pulling out this comparision.
I did some modification myself to further imphasize the time on Jarvis.
If someone need it, plz let me know and i will post my Jarvis version
That looks great. Please do share
Remove download link, credit go to Kuronosan
Tried it without editing, tried after editing it, tried deleting everything in WatchMaker and reimporting. No matter what I do, this comes up very messed up on the watch. My own and the others i've imported into WatchMaker work fine. Anything messed up with the file itself? or WatchMaker being crappy?

Just do what I did and don't buy any watch packs - you can import 100's from FaceRepo anyhow - then you only pay $0.99 as a one-off for the full premium upgrade which also gives you weather, battery widgets and some backgrounds thrown in.

The facer file works 80% in WatchMaker but breaks on the weather conditionals.
WatchMaker uses LUA for its expressions so the formatting is slightly different - try the link below for fixed weather formulas :

I watched the original video again and you really need to see it running on a real watch to appreciate the full difference in frame rate - it really is smooth as butter even on the Jarvis watch.
After trying both, I do agree Watchmaker is much smoother. Not sure about the battery life though.
Edit: How to import from FaceRepo or Facer files? .face and .zip files can work on the Watchmaker as well??
Update: It worked! Confirming .zip and .face can work on Watchmaker as well.

Well the problem is the Jarvis 2.0 file is already a .watch file made for WatchMaker. It imports and looks fine om phone. No matter what i have tried x once i set the watch face on the watch, it's like the images are all jumbled so there are phantom red second and hour hands, and the layers arent in the right order and some layers seem to be missing. Something seriously wrong happens when sending to the watch that hasn't happened with other faces.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using Tapatalk
Just re-import a second copy and send that instead.
I already explained i did that. As a matter of fact, every watch i try to import is messed up on the watch even though it looks fine on the phone. The only one working now is my Bulova face and the stock ones...
Going to try wiping everything for WatchMaker and reinstalling it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using Tapatalk
Oh ok apologies. Maybe try a file explorer for wear and clear the files on your watch?
WatchMaker is a piece of crap.
That's the short version. Long version? I uninstalled it from my phone. Used SD Maid to remove any leftovers. Manually deleted the entire BeautifulWatches folder. No WatchMaker or its files left on my phone. No WatchMaker available to select om watch.
Reinstall WatchMaker. Only import Jarvis 2.0 watch file. Looks fine on phone. Send to watch. Broken. Why?
Because WatchMaker isn't cleaning up the files in the watch itself. So i could see the face image from my Bulova face, see the face and dials from a Rolex face i had imported and deleted at some point yesterday, and some other images that don't belong to the Jarvis face. So until WatchMaker deletes all the files from old faces, this is an issue. And any other watch i import, it is broken on the watch for the same reason. The images being called by the XML are not corresponding to the images from that face file on the phone. And I'm back to Facer for the meantime.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using Tapatalk
I agree that it should deal with the sync case where someone has done a manual wipe on the folder on their phone. But I am sure that workflow will be fixed soon.
other than that I am very happy to run all my watches at 50fps with similar battery life to the stock watch.
As an amateur programmer (Visual Studio, haven't tried Java yet), I saw the problem coming when I realized how WatchMaker imports the images. Rather than keep the unique IDs that Facer uses, it's always trying to go .img1, .img2, etc. If you only ever import watch faces and never delete them, you probably wouldn't encounter this problem.
But if you do import multiple watches, then delete some, then import more, you're going to have this problem. The solution is for WatchMaker to wipe all custom face resources from the watch every time you change faces, and then to send new files. The fact that it's not doing that, and instead only seems to send new files while keeping existing ones baffles my mind from a programming angle.
Anyone know who the dev is?
Watchmaker doesnt look like an amateur app to me.
As most have said above the watches look amazing. If there is an issue im sure the dev will fix it. Facer fixed around 20 bugs in the last update so all apps have bugs.

Customize watch faces with Connect app, coming soon!

Haha suck it G watch R!

Nice update
The update work for anyone? I got it but have been unable to set any of the new faces to the watch. They don't show up. Maybe something screwy with my oneplus....
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
I have it and it is working. You may need to give it a few minutes for the new faces to be transferred to the watch. They appear just like the original stock faces.
It is nice to have the award winning Moto but it is a shame they didn't add any of the additional features such as weather or battery percentage. I think the clone of the face that boostr29 did for facer is still nicer. The Motorola face likely uses much less battery power though. Wear 2.0 should let people create much more involved faces that can display more information such as unread email etc.
If you havn't got the update yet or want to see what they are like, I took a photo of all the new watch faces:
http://imgur.com/a/XJXT5
Pascuals a favourite, I'm sure the My Design will be better in time... It won't be good for anything beyond casual usage though - you need to crop the image for it yourself, and the ticker hands you can't customize outside of the preset options they have.
Yeah, the My Design is quite limited for now, and you can't set large preview cards on it. But at least there's now the option/toggle to add the date to all of the other watchfaces too, which is handy.
Generally this is a bit of an odd update, as it just adds Moto Body features that replicate existing Fit ones, except for Calories. Now we have again the typical Android mess of duplicated features, despite Google's efforts to control Wear.
I dont understand how anyone can use a white face. That flat tire looks terrible. I always run a black face, so its not too noticable.

Same issue here. I've restarted the watch, reset the watch, uninstalled and reinstalled both Android Wear and the Connect app. None of the new apps or watch faces will show up on the watch.
I just wish the date option was a bigger font. My old eyes have a hard time seeing it.

The app is a ton of fun, hopefully they continue to expand it. I have several pictures that work great with the DIY watch face.
Yeah I'm loving this, the custom pictures are nice and hi resolution!
Thx for sharing. Had moto connect app disabled.
How are u guys getting the update? I don't see it on playstore?
---------- Post added at 10:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:55 AM ----------
Nvm. Odd. I had to search for the app and then it said update. Would not show up automatically.
My phone wouldn't find Connect update (kept telling me Connect was up to date)
On my PC, I visited -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.targetnotif while it said installed, when I clicked the Install button I was able to pick my Moto X, and click OK.. After that, the X notified me of the app downloading and installing. I now have the update.
Seems like the best faces are the one's that create the illusion of a round face by having some sort of inner circle that is not disrupted by the flat tire look. Basically you tune it out since all the major eye candy is above it, only the tiny hash marks are broken which you barely notice anyway. Having a full white face or roman numerals makes it very obvious there is a screen break at the bottom.

I wound up having to reset the Moto X altogether. Somehow, I think swapping between a work-week phone (Note 4) and a weekend phone (Moto X) got some apps stuck on the watch that weren't on either phone anymore. When I reset the Moto X and then reset the 360, it stared to work correctly.
Too bad beelink dont work anymore else can easily switch devices with the watch.

[Q] Watch faces - How many

For those lucky enough to have their watch. How many watch faces are there pre loaded?
There are 18 watch faces pre loaded on the watch.
Watch Faces
although, will there be many more like i've seen on XDA for the MOTO360?
Ok got my ZW yesterday. I have to say, I love the build and the design...what's disappointing is that I can't use any of the third party apps to build a watch face. I've tried two diff apps and nothing will push the design to the watch. It appears that the ZW manager is preventing any third party designs to come thru. IF THIS IS TRUE, and Asus doesn't open up the design api this would be a deal breaker for me. I know this is a small thing, but its to restrictive considering that ALL of the other AW watches support third party apps. UGH!

No, only use the facer app... facerepo.com has a bunch of user made faces that are decent. Some aren't designed for the ZW though, so they won't look right. Trial and error. I've only had the watch for two days now so it's hard to tell. Honestly, although I've downloaded and tested other watch face apps, I'm using the "explorer" face that comes with the zenwatch stock app. I have it always on, with steps and battery for both watch and phone showing. Lowest intensity on the screen is more than bright enough.
First day was a 16 hour day and I put it back on the charger with about 30% left. Yesterday was 14 or 15 hours with about the same left. I get tons of notifications and yesterday used the notifications while using navigation (that works well).
All I care about is getting through the day on a charge and it's doing that nicely, so I'm happy.
The nice thing about the included watch faces is that they were all built with the included first-party watchface API, unlike the ones in the Moto 360. So the cards behave nicely mostly hidden and transparent at the bottom, rather than taking up half the screen.

Thanks! Yea I may stick with the stock watch faces too. I actually like them a lot.

The Facer faces have worked for me with no change to the way notifications are handled. I use the square face watch faces that were designed for the LG G Watch with a few modifications the the ratios for the screen size diff.
Intellicom WatchMaker works sort-of. If you have rooted/modified your phone, apparently you cannot update to v5.01 on the watch, which is required (5.0 anyway) for the latest version to work. Their version 1.11 works with 4.4W2, but of course, some of the new features are not present.

I don't think that's the case. My watch updated to 5.0.1 automatically, and my phone is rooted and otherwise messed with.

Change the res to 320 x 320. If things are supposed to be center on the horizontal axis then put 160 for x, if center on vertical axis then 160 for y. Sometimes the size of the element needs to be changed as well, I usually set them two to three sizes up. Just play around with it and after making changes look at the face in the app and see if it aligns properly and such.

Clean Digital Watchface for SW3

Hi,
I got the SW3 yesterday and am currently searching for a decent Watchface. I want a purely digital one that works well with the square face of the SW3, and it seems those are rare. I tried "Bits" which is great (Interactive) but the time is shown in a pretty small bubble and isn't so eass to rear in dimmed mode. Currently I'm using "LED Watch with weather" which is OK, but seems a bit cluttered.
What I'd like to see: Time with seconds, large and easy to read, Day, Month and Year. Everything else is nice to have, but optional. On my Pebble I used "Revolution" which I liked a lot, and "Sketch Weather" which was also cool, butsadly showed no seconds.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi, I like digital watchfaces too and after trying a lot of different ones during these first days with the SW3, I finally always go back to use this one https://goo.gl/NdghXZ
It's simple, easy to see in ambient mode under sunlight. It tells time and date (no seconds and no year), has phone and watch battery indicators and a little bit of customization in form of some color changing.
I'd like to have a world clock function too with at least a second time zone indicator, but I still didn't find anything like this...
look into the Pujie Black watchface app... put as much digital as you want in there. For instance:

Thanks!
I did indeed already play around with the Pujee Black, but got a bit lost and confused along the way. I somehow did not manage to remove the Analogue part completely, although I know it's possible. I'll give it another go when I have more time and energy...
Look through the community on gplus and point out what you like. Will build it for you if you like

Thanks for your offer! I managed to make an acceptable one with Pujie now and will use it for a while, maybe stick with it, maybe not. There are a few limitiations in Pujie Black, I'd like to make the time display even bigger and change a few other things, but in general it's a pretty comprehensive solution and quite easy to use once you get past the initial confusion...
Share it with the gplus community . Might be fun to play around with it.
Also the Dev is fairly responsive if you can clearly articulate what improvements you want to see
