So it's not just me. Hmm.
Yes i think its aome software problem because it worked for me first time only for a 10 mins and then it never connected.
I even tried hard reset but not successfull.
So I tried connecting to it again, and I noticed it keeps losing sight of the wifi connection. It will show my 5GHz network out of range, and then try to connect, then show it out of range for a bit again.
I found a solution go to wifi settings and go to menu and advanced and turn off smart network switch and always allow scanning. And then reset ur modem and router and it should work .
It worked for me and now my 5ghz is working fine.
Mine has worked since I got the phone. With the authentication error, are you positive you've entered the correct key? With the weak signal, have you tried a different channel, maybe some interference going on???

Yup I'm sure, it's the same password as the 2.4GHz network. Besides that, it works for my laptop and tablet perfectly fine.
I reset my modem and router again and now it worked. Guess it just took some motivation lol.
On 2.4GHz I got like 15-25mbps on my wifi.
Here's 5GHz:
Wish Verizon's LTE wasn't pathetic compared to the competition, especially given how expensive they are.

When I try to use my wifi connection at home its really really slow. Sometimes it just loads part of the websites or some other it doesnt load at all and I have to refresh it several times so it loads. I also have an iphone and a laptop which dont have this problem at all. Theyre working perfectly fine with my wifi connection.
This only happens with wifi, on 3g it works fine. I havent been able to try more wifi networks to see if this only happens with mine

To me it shouts out kernel issue. I've had graphical errors on stock where it shows I don't have any signal but everything still pulls up nice and fast. I would reccomend a new rom and or kernel

It also could be a WiFi issue. I was having WiFi issues with my GNex also that I thought was the phone until I started tweaking my Router settings. Some devices are more forgiving to certain routers. In addition some devices Roam to different AP's much better than others.
I have 2 WiFi AP's in my house to span covereage across 2900sqft. I found that my WiFi was just conflicting with each other causing issues with speed and connection so this is what I did.
My Modem is a TWC Wireless Modem - WiFi turned off.
Router 1 Linksys E4200 is Bridged to TWC Modem it is dual band so I have the 5ghz band set MyHomeAP in mixed mode with a 40Mhz Spread, using 36 as the Channel. The 2.4Ghz band is set to MyHomeAP-N in N only mode with a 40mhz Spread and 11 as the channel. I need a seperate SSID here because it was causing conflicts and I needed a 2.4ghz connection upstairs for my Transformer Prime Tab since it does not support 5ghz radios.
Router 2 Netgear WNR300L with DD-WRT loaded is downstairs on the other side of the house. It is a 2.4 ghz router which I have set to MyHomeAP with a 20mhz spread set to channel 1. This allows my devices that are 5ghz compatible to Roam between each AP without conflicts.
So with all that I am now getting 45 mbs WiFi when I am upstairs and connected to the Linksys and 21 mbps downstairs when I am connected to the Netgear downstairs. The Tab is getting a consistent 15mbps on each router which is acceptable for me. This is an improvement from getting 3mbps anywhere in the else regardless of the closeness to the router or the device being used. I'm now able to maximizesmy use of the WideBand service which gets about 52 mbps on a wired connection most of the time.
The GN has lots of issues with different network gear and a lot of it can't be solved by tweaking. Seems like I've heard the most success stories with netgear. I'm using ubee and trendnet and my wifi isn't great. I get between 5 and 20 mbps and its choppy with a lot of disconnects.

You always have to be careful using multiple Wireless routers in the house, because if they are not setup right you will get consistent disconnects and low speeds. Same thing was happening to me until I really digged in and configured my multiple routers correctly. Check my previous post on how I solved my router issues.

Just one router, the time warner ubee docsis 3.0 modem/router. The rest are trendnet APs at 1,6,11. All with same ssid and security. No interference as checked with wifi analyzer. The wifi just sucks. Not much more you can say except try different gear which shouldn't be necessary. All of my laptops etc work great.
I tried my gnex on other wifi network and it worked well. I tried it again on mine with negative results. Idk what could be wrong, all other devices i have, 2 laptops and 1 iphone work well

This is pretty strange so I thought I'd check here with people.
I got my new Sprint Note 2 today. When I was at home it connected to my wifi network and worked fine. When I got to work I connected it to our wifi network and the internet won't work. If I turn off wifi internet comes back.
Here's the kicker, I have my old iPhone right next to it connected to the work wifi network and it is connected fine to the internet. This is definitely going through wifi as I no longer have a data plan on that phone.
I checked with our IT admin who said that there is no need to "accept" a device on our wifi network. He also rebooted the network for good measure. After both phones lost the network (from the reboot) and reconnected the same thing happened. No internet from my Note but internet works fine on the iPhone. Restarting my Note doesn't fix the problem.
Any ideas? Thanks.

If it helps others try and solve the issue he tried pinging the IP address that my phone was using and said that he could only send information but not get anything back.

Try changing your wifi channel config in the router.
Hi, I've got the International version N7100 and experiencing weird wifi problem. I have tried to reset my wifi router and use static IP but it doesn't solve the problem. Btw, the problem is whenever I connect my Note 2 to wifi it would lose connection after a while then messes my router and connection of my PC to router as well. Never had this issue until I brought the Note 2 home a week ago. I had to restart my router and turn off my wifi on Note 2 for everything else to work. My iPad, iPhone and PC are all doing fine when Note 2's wifi is off.
I used to have terrible problems with my Virgin Superhub which all went away when I changed the security settings to WEP hexidecimal from WPA2-PSK (AES). Laptops and phones would have intermittent connections all the time which a reboot or channel change would sort out but only temporarily. Give it a whirl.

I've been experiencing the same problem. It's especially annoying when I try to download big size apps on Google Play ( > 1 gb) because it will stop any moment and i will have to re-download it over and over again. It never happens when I connect to school wifi but it just happens when I connect to my wifi at home. Weird. Nothing is wrong with my wifi at all because my other computer is always connected 24/7 without any problem.
I have a similar problem on Omega Ron v5.0 with latest Andrei kernel. The phone gets stuck sometimes in getting IP address part or have disconnects. It's annoying.

Afraid not.
I did that after other efforts failed but still have to go through same issue every now and then. This is not a permanent problem but something that occurs at least once a day for me.
Also having Wifi issues with GN2 from Sprint
I got the GN2 on it's release date (this past Thursday) through Sprint. Got it home got set up, connected...everything worked beautifully.
After a couple of hours, downloading apps etc. I noticed it had stalled. Turned off WiFI and used the network to finish. Turned back on WiFi and Voila, action again, but a few hours later it stalled.
I first made sure all of my settings were in agreement. No sleep mode or anything like that was enabled. No power saver either.
Couple hours goes by, WiFi connectivity stalls (even though it shows a full signal) I contacted TWC and made sure it wasn't the modem/router. I changed the wifi channel, tinked with the bandwidth... everything worked...an hour later it stalled. Called Sprint they said I had a dud, took it back, exchanged it, got the new one... SAME ISSUES. YEsterday I connected to my Church network HOPING it was an issue at home, but not so. After an hour on the network it stalled.
Contacted Samsung today and they have had no complaints according to them so i said I'm happy to be the first... If anyone finds a fix please let me know.

Do you have any solution yet? I have the same issues with 2 different networks. I already contacted Samsung, but they only say I should do a reset of my device and read the setup instuctions for wifi. I'm still in contact with Samsung and hardly try to get a solution.
Stay tuned, I'll post any news I can get.

I'd prefer it to work with the stronger encryption of WPA2 rather than WEP.
OP: it will be great if you could add a poll to the thread as that way we can see whats the percentage of users are experiencing this issue,

Same issue here. Connect wifi and I'm able to hold connection for as little as minutes at times. Turn back on 4G and I'm fine. If I re enable wifi straight after it works intermittently. This is true of both my home and office wifi. So I'm lead to believe it's the phone.
Hi,
Almost the same thing here. everytime I go out of my home and comeback the wifi network seems to work but no internet access. I have to stop and restart wifi then it works.
very strange issue. ok I have a work around but I'm going to open a ticket to Samsung.
Same issue - connects for about 30 seconds
I've tried on different routers. Other devices (iphone, ipad, S3, etc.) all work fine. Sees the wifi network. connects, then disconnects and TURNS OFF WIFI. I can't figure out how to go to service mode to see if this is a timer issue. I've tried on both G and N networks. using a verizon fios, actionteck router (and netgear). Also, will not remember the password credentials. tried router reboot and fidling, etc. Driving me nuts. any suggestions ???
Wondering if anyone else is having issues connecting to a 5ghz network? I wasn't able to get it working, wouldn't even show up in available networks. That was stock out of the box, and after flashing a couple ROMs. I'm using slimbean now and am able to connect, but I have to turn WiFi on/off several times on the n7 before it shows up and connects. My s 3 connects no problem.
And I've tried all the standard troubleshooting on the router. Even changed some settings on the 5GHz band.
So if someone could double check for me that would be great!

Well I think I have it working. I gave the n7 a static address and now after a half dozen reboots its auto connecting every time. I tried changing channels on the router. Tried 20/40 MHz channel width. Ticked on/off all the options on n7 WiFi settings. Nothing worked. Then I set static address on my tablet and router and like I said so far so good.
I'll update if there are any other issues because doing a search showed a lot of other devices having this issue. But none of the results recommended setting a static address. Maybe I got lucky. I could use my 2.4GHz network reliably but I want full network speed since I only have the 16 GB model and do a lot of folder syncs to keep my SD storage free.
Edit: scratch that. Worked half dozen times in a row. Rebooted after I wrote this and it didn't connect.

During initial setup i was not able to connect to my 5ghz but i was able to connect to my 2.4ghz. After setup was complete i was able to go in and switch it manually to the 5ghz network. If i power the device off and turn it back on it would not connect to my 5ghz or my 2.4ghz. I then went into wifi advanced settings and switched to 5ghz only and it connected immediately to the network and hasn't lost it since. This was true before and after the update, i am stock, unlocked and rooted. I also do not broadcast my ssid.

If I am connected to 5ghz and go in advanced and select 5ghz only, it disconnects me from WiFi. It will still show my 5ghz network in range with good signal but if I now try to connect..it does nothing. Keep clicking connect and nothing happens. Then go back and put frequency on auto and the 5ghz disappears. I then have to toggle WiFi 4-6 times before it connects again to the 5ghz.
Strange.

I had the same problem at first too. Here's what solved it for me: set 5ghz frequency to 20mhz instead of auto, change the channel from auto to any number you want, 5ghz will most likely be completely clear in your area so just choose any channel. After doing that it should see the 5ghz network every time and connect automatically.

I'm not sure. Seems like software to me because once its connected it stays connected. And the signal range is really good. Better WiFi than any phone I've ever had. Better than my laptop too. My s3 has no problems connecting. Even with all the router settings I've tweaked its never had an issue connecting with the s3.
Are you able to connect?
In another thread someone noticed his WiFi settings were set to Europe. He said he hadn't changed them and that he was fresh on stock (his first time booted). Double check your settings if you're still having issues.
Settings | WiFi | advanced | WiFi region code.
Mine was also set to Europe as well for some reason. If your router is setup to use a channel not available in Europe this would cause the problems described here.

OK guys, I think I have as real solid lead on this bug. I'll update with some info a little later, I want to test this some more. But for now I'll say that I made some changes and I have had zero disconnects or problems connecting while toggling or after reboot. And I mean 100% connection rate after 50 toggles and a dozen reboots.
Till I can get the info up, one question for you guys having the same issue. Do you have multiple routers in your network and/or custom firmware on your router?

If flashing the latest firmware doesn't help. You can try and change the wireless mode of your router. Log into mgmt. Navigate to your wireless settings, change "wireless mode" from "auto" to "N Only."
It's worth a try. What that will do is force N band only, whereas on auto when a g/b band connects the router switches to b/g mode, and that might mess with the Nexus. If the problem you encountered was fine with a factory reset temporarily, all it would take would be a "g or b" band device to log on to kill your n band and dumb down to g/b band.
It's not a bad idea if you don't have any b/g devices to turn off 'auto' anyways. The jury is still out on whether or not it actually benefits an all "N" environment, but it sure as hell won't be switching to G or B on you.
Those routers had issues with their early versions of firmware. They might have straightened it out by now. Upgrade it!

Try changing the WIFI channel used in your router. My nexus 10 had issues on certain channels especially on 5GHZ.
You may also have a Wifi region setting somewhere on your nexus. I remember seeing it before but can't find it right now. The region basically locks your nexus to (possibly) the wrong channels. IE. Not all euro channels work with american wifi channels

I tried different channels and connecting to 2.4 GHz only.
Help!
HELP!!
Let's divide the problem into smaller pieces - is this an N7 LTE problem or ASUS router problem?
Get another router (I use the Asus RT-N66U) and test if it works with the N7 LTE. If it does, then it's your' router.
If it does NOT work wit hth eN7 LTE, then it's your N7 LTE probably have a bad chip.
I installed the kitkat factory images and the problem still persists :crying:
Sooo I've had my M8 for nearly a month now and I love the thing. However, I notice that I've been having some issues with the M8 not being able to detect or connect to my home and office's wifi. My laptop and my fiance's Nexus 5 can detect our home wifi network with full strength.
Interestingly, the closer I get to my router, the stronger the signal gets, but the moment I move maybe 20 feet away into another room, the wifi cuts out or gets very weak. I understand that distance is a factor, but I feel that my M8 should be able to connect to my router in the next room, especially when other devices can do so with no problem.
I think it's also worth noting that this was not always an issue. This only started happening recently - the only software upgrade that I did was the Verizon push that installed right out the box. I have not made any changes to my wifi network at home or work.
I've tried a couple of things with no resolution, including;
Resetting my router (power cycling)
Restarting my phone
Forgetting both wifi networks and manually re-adding them
Changing my wifi direct name
Turning on airplane mode, turning off my wifi, turning off airplane mode then turning on wifi (this was a suggested method for the M7 that I saw on another forum)
I did some Googling and didnt find much, so maybe I just have a lemon, but I did see that wifi connectivity was an issue with the M7.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I'm having the exact same problem getting over 20Mbps over Ethernet but then 0.25Mbps on my M8 over WiFi even when close to router
Have you guys played around with your routers settings?
What signal is your router on, wireless b,g,n,ac?
Is it throwing mixed frequency? (2.4ghz or 5ghz or both)
Go to WiFi settings in the phone, then advanced, then it will probably say "auto".
Try setting it on only 2.4ghz or only 5ghz see if that helps.

Tried that and my router is just b and g suppose upgrading to an n or ac router would sort it

This. Worked for me...and on my old Nexus 4. I think it is a KitKat thing.
