Information - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hello guys, i have a question, in some cellphone selling website here in venezuela, there are people saying that huawei is a crappy manufacturer, i know they have a crappy customer support, im aware of that, but, in that website they say that huawei's ascend p6 is a lower performance device, like an entry level. so i want to ask to you, the xda community: "what performance classification level is the ascend p6?"
is it low end? medium end? hig end? i know it have 4 cores, and gpu is not that good for graphics intensive games, without third parties apps. so please be neutral, not a fanboy, just the real oppinion about this phone.
Pd. i have one ascend p6, and one ascend w1.

Mid level, and a very good one.

It is very dizzy and laggy for a quad core, even phones like Xiaomi Mi2a (cheap dual core) feel alot faster and snappier.
Bad kernel and bad gpu drivers inside the kernel are the primary cause of this extreme underperforming.
Also a rare gpu that has nothing optimized for it.
The never Huawei devices on the other hand are alot better because of the mali gpu - these devices dont underperform

[Q] HTC Wildfire VS Samsung GT-i5500 VS Huawei Ideos U8150

Hi Everybody!
Someone could please tell me why these two smartphones are a lot faster than our wildfire?
I don't think it depends on the CPU frequency because they are faster also versus the overclocked wildfire.
On these smartphones, in example, angry birds runs better than well! You can find gameplays on youtube!
I tryied playing on a gt-i5500 and the gameplay it's like on the iphone
I don't think these smartphones have a GPU...
So, why the wildfire, which cost a lot more, is so slow??? Please help me to understand
Wildfire costs more because of the brand. For example, a SOny TV is much more expensive than a LG of the same specs because of the brand`s name and history.
ok!
now, why it is so slow?
Its because it uses a very old CPU, with no GPU, and, utilizes the Sense Interface, which requires a lot of processing power.
the gt-i5500 and the ideos both have GPU?

Ideos doesn't
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
so, wildfire with cyanogenmod (no SENSE) with overclock should be faster than ideos
but you can see that this is not true!
i would like to understand how much this slowness is hardware or software related, because if it is software related ( opengl driver, ecc) maybe can be fixed
what do you think?
The wildfire cannot do angry birds due to the lack if gpu it is reallllly low framerate

I think it's because i5500 has much smaller screen and therefore resolution. The same processor can faster reload images, because it requires less computing.

The i5500 does have a smaller screen (2.8" vs 3.2"), but, the resolution is the same (240x320), which implies the number of pixels on the screen are the same.
Huawei U8150 according to http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_u8150_ideos-3513.php

Ideos has an overclock CPU (made directly by Huawei) at 600Mhz.
I am saying that it has a GPU named "ADRENO 200"
interesting, could they (gmsarena) be wrong about this? so practically wildfire is as lame as ideos in gaming huh? well im just saying, they got that 3d game in their ads.. sucks tho.. im liking this ideos thing so far..

They are. There is no GPU in the wildfire, and, it sucks at gaming. It should be your last priority if you intend to play even remotely taxing games, even ones like Angry Birds.
I don't know about the Ideos, but, there again I think GSMArena is wrong. AFAIK, MSM7225 does not support GPU's. Only 7227 does, which is rated at 600MHz. So, if as another member said, that it ships at 600MHz, there is a possibility is uses the 7227 instead of the 7225.

[Q] Help with 3D Drivers

Hi guys!!!
Im older user from HTC mobile, now I buy a new phone more chip, and won a new problems!
Srs., I've looking for features about my mobile (it is Motorola SPICE XT300), and this model only sell in Brazil / Canada / Argentina / Australia (i guess).
Looking in the website (gsmarena) I found the features about my phone, and its is the same about the Wildfire. look:
Android OS, v2.1 (Eclair)
CPU 528 MHz ARM 11 processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm MSM7225 chipset
So i heard about this model dont have a drivers for this chipset, cause i dont know, but motorola dont make this drivers. So i hear some people try porting other driver from this chipset in this model but its very very dificult found news about this. I have some helps from neopeek and other forums, here too, about porting this drivers.
So, this driver i guess stay in /system/lib/****.so - my question is, somebody knows how install the 3D driver for this chipset? If i download a CUSTOM ROM here, try to copy/paste in the same location those files could work? Please guys help me, I dont wanna lose my phone but dont wanna use without graphics (by the way its f**king bad do anything, its slow any apps who needs).
So any news about this? anything? some developer could help me? any one?
Thx guys, c ya ...
gsmarena has the specs of the wildfire wrong, it doesn't have a gpu
Pdadb should be better. If you have the msm 7225 then there is no gpu. The best way to check is run nenamark. If it gets 1fps then there is no gpu. If it gets 30-60 fps then there is a gpu

It's a great phone athough it doesnt have GPU. And i dont know what people expect for such a low price...lol I think there is no better phone for that money.
The ZTE Blade is a better option now however before that was released the Wildfire was very good value.

Seconded. At today's price point, there are much better phones than the Wildfire out there. But, ~6 months back, really, Wildfire was the only option if you wanted a budget Android, which is why, I am a bit disillusioned, but will continue to faithfully stick with my Wildfire.
I agree that now there are better phones in that price range. But look at the time when wildfire is released, almost a year ago and still it can compete. You must agree that even few months is relatively big period not to mention a whole year.

Good value? Yeah, maybe the first days of release, but it didn't take long for alot more valuable phones came along. All HTC phones is overpriced, and now with locked bootloaders, useless. Only reason I got it was becouse, at the time, it was the cheapest with a LED flashlight. If I only waited for the Defy instead, same price-range, but oh so much better phone on ALL fronts.
Ok guys! but the question its not about the wildfire, its is about this Motorola Spice..
So ok, i learn the Wildfire dont have gpu ok ...
So somebody have the nenamark.apk to install ? I just found the .zip file and I dont know how to install this on mobile.
I gonna make the test with this bench, cause if i got more then 1fps i have a gpu .. if not, i dont have and i guess this thread is closed.
Any one know something about this specific model? C ya.

Do we really need a quad-core phone?

Hello,
I'm an existing HD2 user using CM7 ROM, and satisfy with the speed, it can fulfill my daily usage (mainly web surfing and games).
Actually I already placed an order for One X with Solo headphone, but I just questioned myself, do I (we) really need such a powerful smartphone?
From my point of view, One X comes with larger and better LCD, faster CPU, more RAM, much better camera, that's it. Compare to my daily usage, I think it won't have much difference except the LCD & camera.
I can't said One X is very expensive, but if HD2 can serve me well, should I go ahead to replace it with One X?
I'm in HK, and what I can get is 10% off from the promotion price (HKD5698 * 0.9), and I'm going to sell the Solo headphone too (around HKD800), so the phone is around HKD4xxx only, which is quite attractive.
What do you think?
It's not about need, it's about do we want! My I9000 works still well, but i want more speed, bigger screen and much better camera!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
I don't need a ferrari, but I still want one! I'm sure we could all get by with an old school nokia but like most on the forum, we want the last tech
It depends up on your need. If you play a lot of HD Games, Tons and apps and widgets and still want to run fast then Yeah you need it
I'm sure game/app devs will soon be making the most of the quad-core power. I think by the end of the year quad-core will be more or less the standard.
Yes, many of us will never need all cores but it's the must-have effect.
But there are of course games in HD which really need full power.
Need?......Not really.
Want?......Hell yeah.

Exactamundo!
i buy quad core to future proof myself since i do not change phones all that often
People have used the "Do we really need..." phrase at every single step of every single technological development since the dawn of time!
From my experience with several single-core, dual-core and quad-core phones I say:
1) If you want a fluid UI with daily-use buy a dual-core nexus phone. Or just take another dual-core phone, root it, and install a stock-like rom with ICS and above. It will work great and fast.
2) If you have a single-core phone, It will not going to run fast with any of the roms based on my exprience with HTC Desire HD and three Galaxy S phones - they just have a crappy-old processors and you need to trash them out, seriously.
3) If you want to play some Ultra-HD 3D games with your phone you need a quad-core phone.
I know that the number of cores are irrelevant to the overall speed of the processor but in android mobile phones it does - because most of the phones with a single core is older than most of the phones with dual core that older than all the quad-core phone. Thus, the number of cores that raising in this case indicates that the processor is newer and more powerful.
yep

Linux
I waiting for Ubuntu for Android app to become available. Then I will need four core phone
If you not a player you probably will not need computer any more. Just a monitor
In my case, i REALLY needed a new phone cuz my single core X8 was lagging, hanging and rebooting nearly everyday...I WAS going to get a new phone anyway, so why not get something which would never make me pay for it ?
If you just txt and call then you don't need a quad core or even a dual core but if ya like me then u will need a powerful handset as I control all my computers and network, emails, Nas and router and I do some gaming. So yes I can see the need basicly I run my life from my phone and the faster the better in my eyes.

(offtopic) gave up

So i gave up had the phone since 22 july a day less than month and i am dissapointed in the phone software(its the worst soft ever) mostly in music volume output but it looks good so i am bit sad that it has such a rubbish soft. Yesterday it went berserk and that was it for me went to shop and bought 2nd nicest phone on market htc one glamour red and o boy this phone is good and nice looking btw htc scored on antutu bench 25k from the box p6 scored 14k they difference is only 200mhz on cpu clock it shows how bad the huawei stock rom is written. As someone sayd the kernel is written for ics so good luck guys with your phones and u can waite for ages from huawei for soft updates its my 4th huawei and ever since they dont care about the updates or they are EXTREMELY slow(1 guy working ). The thing is that they stop developing soft when they release the phone as it seem to me.
You seriosly blame emotion ui for 11 k difference in bechmark? Dude. Htc one's SoC (snapdragon 600) is completely different from p6's SoC (k3v2 if I remenber correctly) They're from totally different leagues. Htc one is much more expensive, so sure you get more performance.

Who said that the P6 competes with the HTC One? They are totally in a different class. The P6 is in the middle class and the One is in the Higher end class. If everyone has the money then most of us will probably buy the HTC one which is so much more expensive than the P6. Comparing the P6 and HTC One is unfair considering the difference in class and price bracket.
Personally I like this 'phone far more than any other I've had in recent times.
I've got some bluetooth headphones which give a real volume boost, I did find this a little low to start with, but my Sony Xperia Z was equally as low. Even without my bluetooth headphones, it would not have persuaded me to go back to the Sony or my (much louder) iPhone 5.
The HTC one would have been an option, if it had some additional memory capacity.
Enjoy your new 'phone.
Yes i admit while one red is 8.5 from 10 in design then P6 is clear 10/10 pure eyecandy but I can't cope with bad soft my nerves can't stand it. 1. K3V2 is kind lower class and roughly one year older than snapdragon 600
2. K3V2 is a non-mainstream CPU combining non-mainstream graphic card,
so, when running antutu or so, surely its performance can't match the snapdragon 600,
and it does have poor compatibility for many high-requirement games, but NOT all
but, for those who is not a real game player, K3V2 is good enough
Most important, it's beautiful and cheap, right?

For all those saying this phone can't run good games............I want to say that i Have Asphalt 8 pirated one in my P6 as GPS say its is incompatible.Asphalt 8 runs very smoothly on P6 not lags a bit. Some high graphics game lag bcz p6 gpu is not compatible with them. I had emailed the gameloft to make a8 compatible with p6 and they replied that they are working on it.But still A8 is running perfectly on low graphics "not very low". We cant run it on higher graphics as a8 is not further compatible with medium and high graphics. But soon it will become compatible.

Adreno 430 Vs MALI T760 MP8? IN EMULATORS

Hi, I have a question, I have my htc one m9 for 4 days and I am delighted, previously had a samsung galaxy s6, I play emulator pspp, without configure anything in s6 going super-fluid though the m9 will jerks and low frames, some kernel or something there to set up this emulator? in theory the Adreno 430 m9 is at the height of the s6 mali, greetings and thanks
someone knows something? greetings and thank you
As we know the adreno 430 must outperform the mali t760 in every single are , but in real life your test is best answer if you have them both.

Ok, thanks for the answer, then the Adreno 430 is the power level of the exynos mali?
u can actually found answer on google, i saw the answer like this
1.) point out that Adreno430 wins only in term of ultra heavy load, and not to high load and normal load
2.) for emulator ppsspp, mali t760 mp8 win, as someone also tell you that, this is what real life performance not only benchmark. bench mark tell most of the thing but u also need to have some basic knowledge about it.
hope u google out your answer ;D
The One M9 has a throttling issue which reduces the clock speed of A57 cluster to something lower than 1.6GHz. Newer revisions of the SD810 SoC (like in Xperia Z5) don't have this problem.
PPSSPP's big lag issue with Snapdragons SoCs hasn't been fixed yet, check out their forums to know what I mean.

AFAIK the SD is superior in most tasks minus throttling. However the difference isn't huge and certainly doesn't merit a change of devices, both will be capable of handling emulation provided it's been optimized by the emulator, some will be terrible, plus it depends on how the emu works with the SD, so a comparison is difficult to make.
Install a different kernel and tweak the settings so it doesn't throttle so much.
