CANT ROOT: SUPERSU (superuser) no longer works after trying to reinstall - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I used supersu to root my original phone on 4.1.1. this was maybe 2 years ago. i want to update to 4.4 but the root doesnt let me, so i uninstalled SuperSU hoping it would unroot and tried to update usin g"software update". still nothing--hitting the butting doesnt even register a click.
tried using odin to update but it stalls on one of the early processes (then i realized i needed root for this step!)
so i went to DL SuperSU again but installing it doesnt work: "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
What to do??

The simplest way to get to 4.4.2 via OTA updates would be to use Odin and flash back to completely stock 4.1.1.
Using Odin will wipe all data files on the phone.

[Q] Can't OTA update to MA7

I'm on ALJC. I used the toolkit to root with custom recovery and busybox. Then along came the MA7 update and I want to apply it via OTA.
So, using the Toolkit, I then flashed stock recovery, used Triangle Away to reset the flash counter, used SuperSU Pro to unroot. Then I let the update download. When the phone boots to apply the update the phone gets about 1/4 of the way through and the Android falls over dead with the nasty triangle-of-death.
I've checked many posts to try to determine if I'm missing a step or doing something out-of-sequence. In any case, any tips on what am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
I went ahead and flashed stock and did a double OTA update and re-installed everything. Now I'm at MA7.

[Q] unstable root on stock 4.3

Hi,
I have a note 2 N7100 and a few days ago installed a German stock rom downloaded from samfirmware. Then I rooted it (I tried posting a link to the rooting instructions but new users can't post links).
When the phone rebooted after root, I got a message from superSU app to manually re-root. Then I just restarted the phone, and suddenly I had root privileges!
Since then, after each restart I sometimes have root and sometimes not. Mostly not. Sometimes I have to restart 10 times in a row before the root works. If I go to CWM recovery, it warns me that the rom will try to reinstall the stock recovery and asks if it should try to prevent this, I say yes but it doesn't change anything.
I also used to get a lot of knox warnings so I froze everything that had the word "knox" in it using titanium backup.
Is there an explanation for this weird behavior? Can I do something to fix it?
I have the same problem with you when rooting by kingo app. But when I reflash firmware and root by lastest cfautoroot and update supersu in play store everything is stable.

[Q]Solved- Manually reroot?

I've searched, but not found any relevant info.
Tried CF-auto root, and it appeared to work. Got a pass, but I ended up at the "seandroid enforcing" screen.
Installed TWRP, and when restarting, was asked if I wanted to install supersu.
Got a "supersu installer stopped working" and after updating supersu via the market, I got:
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it.this is a problem.if u just upgraded to android 4.3
you need to manually re-root.consult the relevant forums for your device"
How do I manually reroot? Just try cf auto with Odin again?
Or is there a different method?
Would highly appreciate the help!
Edited to add: I repeated the rooting attempt via Odin, and installed the supersu update zip via recovery. This time it asked about disabling Knox, and now I'm rooted.

[Q] Odin says "PASS" but root checker says "not rooted"..HELP!

Hi,
I signed up just to get help because I'm extremely frustrated.I have gotten the Kit Kat update for my t-mobile s4 and now I can't root my phone again. I have tried to root my phone using Chainfire Auto root md5 file (jfltetmo-sghm919.tar.md5) & Odin 3.09. I have follow the simple directions as I'm done several times before to flash the root files onto my phone then Odin tells me that it passed. but when i tested with root checker app, the app along with other apps that request superuser permissions, tells me that my device is not rooted. I have tried to root my phone several times using different computers and I have no clue why my phone will not root. in download mode my device states that the knox void has been tripped & the binary is custom. this leaves me scratching my head please help!
What firmware is on your phone?

Have you updated the binary? You could also try using towel root
Try downloading a recovery from CWM or TWRP in TAR format and flashing that in Odin.
That will give you a custom recovery.
Then boot into recovery and flash a Superuser.zip from there. (If you use TWRP recovery you don't even need the superuser.zip. TWRP will tell you that you aren't rooted when you boot it and ask it you want TWRP to root it for you.)
Hi,
Thanks for all the responses... I solved it.. somehow my update for kit-kat via kies prevented me from rooting my phone again. But when I flashed the stock kit-kat update onto my phone using odin, the rooting process using the auto root file from chainfire & odin work! So this solution may work for others...

[Q] how do i re-root after 5.0 update

i used CF auto root to root my note on 4.4.4.
after i updated to 5.0.1 SU no longer works.
this is the error i received
"there is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! if you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root.
so my question is what do i have to do you "manually" re-root?
--thanks
Odin CF auto root again. It still works. After that you can use flashify to get recovery

What I did was flash TWRP through odin, and then flash SuperSU from TWRP. If you get a message from SuperSU saying the su binary is out of date, update it via recovery and it will update and that message will go away.
TWRP odin tar: http://dl.twrp.me/trltespr/twrp-2.8.6.0-trltespr.img.tar
SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/ Once flashed, I recommend updating it through play store and updating su binaries.
Thank you everyone for the help. I was easily able to get root back.
I have another question.
I'm not sure if this is a root issue or what, I imagine this that it is but, now whenever i touch the heart rate sensor it lights up, even when the screen is off / phone is locked. I know root breaks s heath is this the reason for the sensor being "always on"?
