Should I be seeing a browser pop-up ad when I first go to the xda forums using Chrome on my Note 4? If not, I guess I managed to install some obtrusive adware.
Never mind. I see the same thing on my Note 3. I guess I'm being too alert for potential problems with the Note 4.
Pop up ads are the most obnoxious thing on a mobile device. They slow down page loading and make it hard to use the site for those first few seconds until they finally load up and you X them out.

I really like the UI of Samsungs Facebook S! App over the web interface as well as the non Samung alternative.
Unfortunately I have been having problems loading the pages, as it takes very, very long or even fails completely due to a "network connection error" although I have HSDPA connection.
Am I the only one with this problem or do others share my demise?
BTW: The app is downloadable through the "Samsung Apps" app
Same. I kept getting network error but when I checked, the content was already successfully posted
Same here dude...even on my home wifi..i get this msg...had to stop using it...

for this reason i stopped using it, instead i'm using facebook from the market.
at least it has "Like" function. and fast.
This thing works on wifi only, too bad as it's a lot better than the facebook app from the marketplace.

I prefer the marketplace "Facebook for Android" - for some reason the Samsung one just bombards me with billions of f%&$£*% Farmville etc. updates, even though I've hidden them on the main site. If I ever find out how to get rid of the damn things on the Samsung one, I might try it again - I did prefer the look of it tbh.
Same problem on my side ...
The samsung app is slow and often doens't manage to connect to netword ( 3G or wifi)
I must confess that when you come from the iphone both application are pretty crap in comparison
But it is still much better that what I have on my wm6.5 phone
Guys, I recently flash a JG5 ROM, and Facebook S is not in the Samsung App is not in, Anyone know how to download this? I need this to sync my Facebook contact.
You don't want the samsung facebook app.
yeah same problem. Sometimes its fast most of the time its loads forever (i think its has lost connection)
Just have to wait for an update
Like the look of it though

All the FB apps on the Android are pants but then FB itself is one of the worst software implementations I have ever come across, both from a coding and from a user experience perspective. The Iphone app is the best do far but it's still pretty pants and I suspect that is down to really sloppy APIs.

Maybe i have setting problems. It works fast when i am on hsdpa but when i am on wifi i cant connect to facebook s! , it has the loading spinning thing and after 4 min wait nothing. The standard android facebook works on wifi.
If anyone knows the answer to no connection via wifi please help. I rather use this app.
Please go to nfl.com and click on one of the scores on the top. Does it open a new Page? Now hold and select open in a new tab. Why aren't these sites opening on the first touch? Why do I HAVE TO open these in a new tab to get it to work. Same problem on certain websites and experiencing the same on my 10.1 tab.
I've noticed this across multiple sites as well. I would say you HAVE to BC android is not perfect yet you are growing a desktop optimized website on a mobile device after all
Is it taking you to the mobile site?
In Chrome, it opened in the same window for me. If I hold the score and hit open in a new tab, it does just that. Just bought my SGS3 yesterday. Just tried it in the stock browser and it does it the same way
How do you guys like Chrome on the phone versus the OEM browser? Is there any reason Chrome wasn't the default app for browsing?
Chrome is great, real quick. I dont have any problems with the stock browser but Chrome is easier to use since it brought over my faves automatically
I hated Chrome when I first put it on my phone. Guess I was just used to the Android browser after using it for a year and a half. After using Chrome for a while, however, it has grown on me and I actually prefer it. I now only open the stock browser when I need it for a Flash site.

Stock browser: defaults to those useless mobile versions of websites for iphone 3 users or something, no integration with apps, bad flash support
Dolphin: tab functionality completely gone with updates, text doesn't wrap (with it enabled or not)
Firefox: no hyperlink support. Links do not work.
Opera: no text wrap, and it assumes my screen resolution is really small because
it
stacks
text
like
this
on
every
page.
Dolphin still the best choice, and there is no such thing as Textwrap anymore.

Honestly Dolphin is still the best. It does have the tabs. Im not sure if you are using an older version but the newer version does. , Text doesn't wrap on any browser with the Epic 4g Touch since ICS came out. ICS broke the text wrap. Im not sure if it is completely an ICS problem or a Crapple lawsuit problem. It does have flash support, and I have found that downloading Adobe Air from the market helps where it falls through the cracks once in a while. It also has the hyperlink and My personal favorite, a customizable start page. :good:

Stock jelly bean seems the best for me
+1 for the stock Chrome browser in Jellybean.
As far as the mobile versions of websites go, that's generally not up to the browser to decide (i.e. it is the website that is determining you are on a phone and pushing you to the mobile version).
I just got this phone yesterday, i am still using stock browser for now.
TY for the info on text wrap.
I've fallen back to Firefox, a new update has links working. The pages load badly though, as if the video processing is messed up. It appears in giant square chunks, not text then images. It is still much faster than the stock browser which waits a minute before it starts loading any site.
But I can't get them to work in Dolphin. If I click on a link, it makes the click noise and nothing happens. If I long-press, it brings up the menu of choices. But if I click an option, the menu just closes. I've reinstalled it a bunch of times, hoping an update has fixed it. It's pretty annoying. The only way I've figured out to get links to work is to long press the link for 5 seconds, then the menu pops up, wait 5-10 seconds or just put the phone down for a while, then long press for 5 seconds. That's 50/50.
My phone is dead stock. I haven't rooted because I moved to Phoenix, AZ and this is the land that Sprint forgot. There was no point in tethering, because there was no 3G or 4G in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Apache Junction, Tempe, or Phoenix. I just complained to Sprint in hopes of getting to break my contract and they had me update my phone's ID, and I now actually get some data. I'm beginning to think the only fix to all the things that break is rooting. The ICS push broke half the functionality of my phone. I used to use this thing constantly.

Chrome is my goto. Synchs bookmarks seamlessly with my laptop, and is quite fast.

I've been using boat browser and I like it. It's sort of stock browser-ish but has working word-wrap when using pinch to zoom.
If on JB ROM, then Chrome. If on ICS or GB Rom, then ICS Browser+ (loved it and got paid version).

Here's the issue and it's the same on both my N7 2013 and N10. Ever since upgrading to 4.3, the AOSP browser becomes unresponsive while surfing the xda site and some other sites too, but mostly xda. It happens on stock rom and kernel as well as custom roms with stock kernels and custom kernels. Some roms will have a pop up telling me the site has become unresponsive. Some roms the browser simply stops registering touches as in I can no longer click on link and etc. It's not instant but only after like 5 to 10 mins of being on this site. I'm not trashing this site or the tab or anything. Just reporting my experience. Otherwise the tab has been fabulous!
I'm having the same problem with Dolphin and Chrome with the XDA site. I haven't noticed any particular problems with other sites.
Hi:
I find that the XDA site is completely unusable on the Nexus 7 2013. The higher resolution screen cannot refresh quickly enough to keep up with the continual flashing block ads. Trying to select a sub-forum is an exercise in futility as pointing ones finger toward a link, only results in the page moving elsewhere.
I surf XDA with my Nexus 7 2012, also running 4.3. XDA's excessive flashing block ads are incompatible with the Nexus 7 2013.

Have you tried changing the theme at the bottom left?
I'm having the same problem with Chrome on my N7. I think it's a browser issue unrelated to JB 4.3 because through the browsing XDA on my desktop does not hang or freeze (much) the browser is prone to freezes and crashes in general. It started a few months ago as I recall and has gotten worse.

Interesting so we've beta testing their website. Well at least we narrowed down the issue. Will see how things are.
I'm having this issue too. It loads way too slow.

Hi:
Thanks for the useful suggestion. The default, XDA 2013 Beta 1024 refreshes several times a minute, completely useless. XDA 2013 refreshes once a minute, still too often. XDA 2010 seems to work best, though still subject to freezing and crashing. Once you set the option, XDA seems to remember your preference. At least I can use my Nexus 7 2013 to view XDA now, albeit still with difficulty.
I know that XDA has to pay for all the bandwidth but the hardware of mobile devices can't keep up with the over-the-top machine gun like flashing block ads. Are we supposed to only view the forum on pc and laptops with advanced graphics cards? There has to be some middle ground. Come on XDA, it shouldn't be no ads or ads that prevent users from viewing the site.
Tom
Try chrome beta from the play store - I'm using it and have no issues on xda

i'm still finding scrolling on dolphin browser laggy and not smooth compared other versions, tried lots of different 4.3 ROMS, all seem to have the same issue, anyone else?
I started using the site app for this reason. It allows me to read the posts with no problems.
Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Simple Question is;
Why have a Galaxy Tablet 3 with a larger screen than my phone (note 2) and wind up having SMALLER font?
In other words, If I open my gmail in both devises and I am looking at 15 emails and subjects, when I lay them side by side the phone (note 2) has LARGER font than the Larger screen tablet does.
I have searched, looked and scowered the net to find a fix.
One guy, form here had posted and mention this forum that some one said you have to ROOT the tablet then get another app that lets you choose in setting of the app, in this case Gmail to have the application "think" it is on a phone and not a tablet (tab 3) in order to get it to be bigger.
I have been told, Don't root that Tab, you may just lose it and not be able to recover. I know, Ya'll in here might laugh at that but IM not a techie.
IF anyone has a clear Video of HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK right you will become a Youtube Viral sensation.
Want to have some fun? Walk into a sprint store and ask them this, "
"Why would I want a buy a Galaxy Tab 3 with a LARGE screen in order to get SMALLER font?"
Thank you for any help!

not the problem, it is with the resolution to high and the fact that the apps run in tablet mode buit no way of changing a tablet to run the gmail app in phone mode
