Hi
I have a galaxy tab s T705 non-rooted device.
some times I use a proxy app like your-freedom or psiphon3 to connect to internet.
I'm using a home WiFi.
after disconnecting the apps I am unable to connect to internet anymore.
while I can connect with other devices and PCs.
I checked my proxy setting under modify network config.
there is no proxy there.
but my firefox and chrome browser showing not able to connect to proxy warning.
any solution?
PS: I had this problem before and factory reset fixing this, but I cant afford factory reset each time I use a proxy app.
I had to problem when connecting to proxys then when I dont use then my internet wont work. The thing that always worked for me is that since the proxy messes with the hosts file in your system, it changes the hosts file that makes you cant connect to the internet. So when you did a factory reset, it resetted that hosts file making your internet work again. If your rooted the fix is to go into etc, and delte the hosts file so when you connect to the internet again, it will make a new hosts file that it was before you used the proxy. Since your not rooted, please try a factory reset again and do not use proxys. Use vpn apps such as cyberghost vpn or hola vpn. Hope this helps!

I was able to install Opera Mini 4 via usb cable with my computer onto my Dash phone and O.M. is a lot better than IE in my opinion. However, once I disconnect the usb cable, O.M. no longer is able to connect. When I use the usb cable again, it still won't connect. " Failed to connect to the Internet " is the message that'll appear on my phone. The only time it will connect is when I re-install O.M. while synced with the computer via usb cable. It seems like to be a one time deal only each time.
I'm just wondering if there is some sort of proxy hack for this and has O.M. 4 worked for anyone who is using the 5.99 t-zones proxy hack.
Thanks in advance !
Ok, my first post was edited. Ignore my 2nd one which is this.
I used the proxy hack and it works like a charm. Try restarting your phone and see if the proxy hack works with Opera (which it should work for sure).
Thanks for the reply, jdoggraz.
I have tried soft rebooting severals times and O.M. still doesn't connect. That same message ( Failed to connect to the Internet ) still appears.
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated !
I believe I had to go to menu/tools/settings and change the protocol from socket to http before it would work.
Well try to log into Internet Explorer first in order to start up "edge." Then give it a shot with Opera while it is connected to edge. Then once you get this going you can close IE up and just run Opera. This step is done in order to get edge to be "on."
Tried both of your guys' suggestions and it's still unable to connect. Will it work using the regular t-zones w/out the proxy hack?
Yes, it can work. I'm assuming your still using WM 6.0?
1. The problem is the java manager that ships with the Dash doesn't allow installed programs to use the proxy. You need to install a new java manager called jbed. Read this link for instructions on how to do it: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html
2. A 2nd (possible) option is to lose the proxy all together. T-Mobile has a new access point that doesn't require a proxy setting to access the internet, even on the $5.99 plan.
Go into your Data connection and use these settings:
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: epc.t-mobile.com
Leave the rest blank and it should work. I've been using this for almost two weeks without problem.

Still no success. Just curious though, what are your exact proxy settings?

Thanks for the link but the jbed file was invalid. I did a hard reboot and had my default settings for t-zones but still no luck. Now I want O.M. more than ever !

Did you try the new Access Point? The default AP is wap.voicestream.com. Change that to epc.t-mobile.com and see if that works.

Yeah and it still won't connect to the internet. I also did a soft reboot prior and attempted w/the new AP again but still the same result so now I had changed it back to it's default AP. Oh, and to answer your previous question, I have wm 6.
Here are my exact settings:
Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>
Internet Explorer: "Automatically detect settings" is unchecked.
Select Network: The Internet
Now I'm just wondering if any of those settings have to be tweaked for O.M. to work. Thanks again y'all for all the help.

Those settings are not the problem, the java manager is. If you want to use OM over the proxy you need the esmertec jbed manager. I did a search and found a couple threads that still have different versions of it.

You could also upgrade your OS to WM6.1. Both Kavana and Rickwyatt's Roms have it preinstalled.
Just make sure you're ready to do a hard reset if things don't go well!
Thanks Aaron, my O.M. finally is able to connect to the internet now ! For some reason, I clicked on the 2nd link first and was able to install the cab file but there was some sort of error opening it up. The first link (Cloudyfa EsmertecJbed cab file), however, worked great and I was stoked to see O.M. up and functioning now .
I tried googling for answers but found none. This site is really awesome with some really cool and helpful folks and info. Thanks again y'all and Aaron, you the MAN !

AARON YTMND!
I have an issue with the Dash (t-mobile). I have open access to the internet with a D-Link router and I cannot connect to the internet. I have checked all the settings and everything seem right. I can connect to the net, but I cannot access any websites.
The error I am getting is "page cannot be found. Check the name and try again"
Is there something I am doing wrong?
I am using Kavana ROM and I have open access to internet.
Are you trying to connect through wireless with IE?
If so make sure the options/connections are set up to use the correct network on your phone.
You may have to reflash. One thing I learned some times data wont work at all and sometimes it works flawlessly after a flash. Thats the first thing I check after a flash is the data, if it does not work reflash until it does. There might be an easier way, but thats just the way I do it.
I am new to tweaking my phone, it is a ATT Tilt 2 and I currently have the Energy Rom and Co0kies. My question is that I cannot connect to ATT My MEdia net thru Opera 10. Can anyone give me any pointers on how to configure it to have opera connect to My Media net.
Thanks
Colorado

I think you could have been a tad more vague.
How is it possible that you were able to flash a rom and Hardspl the phone but you are unable to load a cab?
When you replaced the rom all the factory settings for your provider were erased. The cab he pointed to you reinstalls the ATT settings. You will still have to go to the connections box and select what you want your data connection to be.
Ask a proper question and on this site you are likely to get a great and informative response.
Oh, and welcome to XDA.
Well, Sorry if my question seemed vauge, Thanks for the cab file. I was able to install it no w/ no problems. My problem is not that I cannot connect with My MEdia net for internet connection, but I am trying to access the the ATT Stock My MEdia net personal Home page using Opera or any Browser.
Any help would be appreciated...
you have to enable the proxy to view medianet sites
go to this thread and download the proxy manager cab, once installed, just open up the enable proxy and you'll be good to go.
Thanks, Will install and check it out thanks...
Installed cab and restored hidden proxys, but I am unable to connect to the site? If anyone is familar with the stock ATT site it is device.home\
Broswer just says unable to connect? Stumped, I have been searching for days... Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

The ATT Proxy cabs are for internet explorer. For Opera you need to modify the opera config. To do this point the Opera browser to "opera:config"
Once there, go to the Proxy settings and enable these:
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy
HTTP server=wireless.cingular.com
HTTPS server=wireless.cingular.com
Use HTTP
Use HTTPS
Use Proxy On Local Names Check
Save the settings. This will get you access to http://device.home
Unfortunately, Celluar Video will not work as it checks the User Agent, and Opera 10 is not supported through the ATT Proxies. You can try setting a custom User Agent in "opera:config" and set it to something like:
"HTC-ST7377/2.07.401.1 (80303) WWE Opera/9.70 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
I have no clue if this will work though.

Thank you for your help, I am still having difficulties...
It basicly timed out trying to connect to the site, so I tried a basic site i.e. google and it still was timing out? I will try again, with the help of one of my co-workers who is more tech savy using the TP2 aswell but is w/ verizon
Error code: ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED
Running Nexus 7 2013 (2nd Gen) WiFi, kitkat, unlocked,
Wifi shows strong connection, detailed error message,
Unable to connect to the proxy server, A proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary between your device and other servers.
Your system is configured to use a proxy, but Google Chrome cannot connect to it. All my other wifi devices, phones and laptop connect OK.

This is beyond me, I was using wugfresh to root, got it unlocked but never got it to root, while doing so, there are two kitkat os options, and when I finally tried the second one, this happened. All else works fine, just this wifi connection error, I reset wugfresh to the first kitkat os version and tried rooting again but no change in proxy error. Not blaming wugfresh, just explaining what I was doing. Googled for a solution but they all refer to Chrome on a PC, I cannot find proxy setting info on the Nexus 7 2013 wifi.
I've tried all the obvious, shut off and restart, plus, wiped and factory restore to original.
Hey all, ive been having issues with my SGH-i747m, I had the app Unified Remote (connects to my local PC over wifi) working fine until i (Kingo ROOT) rooted the phone to install a firewall (AFWall+ , Droidwall , and a few others). After installing I now get no ping response from the PC end, and i have an older galaxy s1 that replys to pings and works with unified remote.
Assuming the root or firewall apps broke something, I then installed TWRP recovery Formatted the data partition and flashed CM 12.1.. but the problem remains, no internal LAN pings or connections.. really strange..
TLDR:
-Started on OEM 4.4.2
-root or firewall apk killed LAN connectivity
-Formatting Data in TWRP and upgrading to CM 12.1 did not fix the connection
Do i need to format more partitions to get wifi LAN? or maybe odin? thanks
I suggest flashing a stock ROM, perform a factory reset in stock recovery, flash TWRP, and then root by flashing supersu from TWRP.
Oh ok, so before trying CyanogenMod i did try restoring the phone through settings>security>reset phone option, not through recovery though, i assume these are different things?
thanks!
ok using this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ddm.iptools
running a traceroute to my pc i get an infinite loop of the phones own internal ip, with a 0.2ms
my working phone stops at 1 hop with the correct ip of my pc @ 3ms
i understand what this means, i just have no idea what to modify / reset to fix this
FIXED - http://superuser.com/questions/701956/android-devices-dont-know-route-to-a-host-located-in-the-same-network
i considered my router being the issue, i was about to reset its settings, when i checked my DHCP client reservation settings, somehow there was a bunch of new very strange entries, so i deleted all the unknown entries and the phones are all pinging now
i assume the router got a bit messed up when i was fiddling with adding a DDWRT router repeater
thanks for bearing with me
