As title says when i make a call my data connection disappears and reconnects when the phone call hangs up. Whats causing this? I cant use web and call at same time. Also when i make calls alot of times it is hollow and static sounding and fine oither times. I am using verizon s4 with nc5, running hyperdive 19 and ncs wifi fix. nc2 base band. tmobile sim card
Wrong carrier forum, this is T-Mobile country. Verizon, don't touch that stuff. ?

I think that's a CDMA thing, you can't use data during calls AFAIK.. Could be tied to the modem

I have the same problem. I am on t-mobile, and I am running the wicked ROM. Randomly, usually when I receive a call, I get the circle with a line through it and cannot get any signal, cell, data, or otherwise. Often when I hang up a call, if I attempt to make another call immediately after I get a prompt telling me there is no service. I have been looking around to see if there is an updated modem to flash, but have not found anything yet. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction??
Nh7 is the latest and from responses around the forum the best so far.

This is the Task650 and Ktoonsez AOKP. VERSION: d2att(4.1.2 JZ054K) from December 2nd release.
My data network goes in and out at random. It actually started happening about 4 days ago on an older build by Task650 & Ktoonsez but I saw the new one so wiped dalvik and Partition cache and rom'ed. Even after flashing the new ROM, data is acting the same way. It is completely random, happens when the phone is in use or when it is locked. I can tell when data connects for short spurts because I hear the notices for new emails. All in all today, I've maybe had 5 minutes of HSPA/3G data and the rest all I have is cellular network for calls. reception strong, and I am in areas where I always have good connection and speed.
Any ideas? Kind of frustrating if I am out to lunch and want to catch up on things (stuff is blocked at work). Also I am paying for data I can't use :/

I am admittedly new to flashing, I just assumed everything was in the package. I flash the ROM and Gapps, is there a source for different modems?
This is definite disconnect of data DHTP. Can't get anywhere, and there is no symbol where there usually is on the reception bar. When it comes back for brief moments, it has either HSPA, 3g, etc.... on the bar.
are you able to send and receive calls? text?
I flashed that rom three days ago, and i had to replace it via warranty. it showed it had signal, but couldnt make any calls or text at all. then i Odin back to stock never worked again.
Don't think it has to do with any rom. Noticed that my wife's sgs3 has had a problem sending and receiving texts and the network drops a lot as well. She is completely stock with the jelly Bean update. My network has been a little suspect over the last few days also. Might just be the service.

Hey Guys, I may have found the culprit...sort of.
The wife has an iP5 and she said to me while we are driving to a holiday party 'I finally have official 4G LTE on my phone'. To which I of course ask what she means. Apparently the same day I started not being able to connect to data networks, is actually the day that ATT fired up their 4G LTE tower(s) in the Lehigh Valley area. When I do get data on occasion, it's when I bump down to 3G and HSPA. Unfortunately, the ROM has a bug where I cannot force it to look for just 3G, I go to save the setting and it immediately jumps back to LTE.
I may just have to flash to a version that definitely supports 4G LTE data. This issue occurred before I flashed to newest ROM, so it has something to do with the core build or modem that both versions use.
Ngriffin, if you find any successful modems please let me know. I like the ROM but I can't go without a data connection much longer.
So, for those who care, I flashed Gapps and also Flashed a new modem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898) version UCLG1 and it's a no go. A few in my area said it worked great for them so now I am a bit discouraged. Northeast Pennsilvania Area.
Modem coverage map (submitted by XDA users) https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msi...ll=40.898982,-75.992002&spn=0.052809,0.111494
Versions tried:
LG1 -------------Did not work
LEM
LH9
LK3 -------------Works but only 3G data.
LH1
CLI5
More info, tested using the Wife's Ip5 and realized we don;t have LTE at our house, so I'll have to wait until we get withing range of the LTE tower(s) to see if it has an issue. However, I now have data reliably.

That's normal. LTE is data only and isn't used for phone calls.
I've been running Task's AOKP on my SGS II and III for a while with no data issues. Check your APN settings. If you're in an LTE area, you should be able to sit on the ATT LTE APN and have no problems, even away from LTE coverage.

To update further, LK3 modem worked for a short while, but once I left the area of my immediate cell tower and it had to connect to another tower, it couldn't. I flashed ALL modems in my list a post above and NONE work. I'm kind of pissed right now.
Any ideas? I'll probably to a full backup and then flash a completely different ROM and cross my fingers. Is there an official JB stock ROM sans the bloatware that is stable and can connect to LTE (or any data network reliably for that matter)?
It was my APN *facepalm* Thanks for the suggestion. It was sitting on wap.cingular instead of the LTE and it was causing the issue. I'm on modem CLH1 and it is working, I have the 4G (3G) symbol now and data is connecting. Well, I learned something thanks! :victory:

I started having issues with mine about the same time. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I had just gone to JB and flashed a new ROM. Then started noticing not just data being very spotty but also my calls (both incoming and outgoing) were very spotty too. Both seemed to only work about 50% of the time. I have since completely wiped and factory reset twice. I even Odin'ed back to a stock Rout66 jelly bean system but I still have issues
I have updated my APN to ATT PTA but that hasn't helped. What APN settings did you go with? Is ther some specific for LTE coverage? On the stock system now I can actually see the LTE icon when it actually chooses to connect.
Also, where did you find other modems. I was told in another forum not to flash any that weren't specific to Jelly Bean and all I have found is the stock I747UCDLK3 which is already on my phone. I did try flashing that seperately just to see if that would help but did not.
I need to get my phone working pronto as it is my main phone for both business and personal phone calls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When you're on stock, only thing you can do is check with your carrier and they'll either tell you that it's something on their end being worked on or that your SIM card is faulty.
This happens to me on tasks AOKP ROM at least once per day, but it usually only happens when I turn on LTE. Basically what happens is the phone has cellular service but no data, after a few minutes it comes back. What I have noticed is that its to do with LTE so maybe there's a problem with that?

Task's AOKP doesn't set the default APN to LTE for Rogers so you might wanna make sure it's your default APN.
So the last two ROMs I switched to basically instructed to "Get latest baseband and firmware here". I flashed it after the rom's were completed installing (using CWM).
I couldn't send sms or connect to the internet or receive phone calls.
I then tried the lj7 modem after I read it seemed the most 'stable' -- didn't work.
Then i tried flashing the Restore Modem Flashable Zip with the backup file
I still get the same problem. After a reboot the sms will send and internet works shortly but then completely shuts off and no phone calls.
Any thoughts on this? I should have never messed with the radio -- only did it cause the rom dev said it was a good idea on his OP.
Thanks to anyone that can help out.
Modem has nothing to do with being able to send sms or connect with the internet
Can you make calls? If not, do hands free activation through your dialer
I have been dealing with the receiving calls myself. After a few calls to Sprint and trips to Sprint store and also a starting a thread on here, I have determined it is a network issue. And for me after some thinking and paying better attention to when and where it happens, I have noticed it happens mainly around where I work. Also according to the Rep at a local Sprint store, he said it is a network issue. As far as the SMS issue, I haven't had that problem.
Sms and calls are all on the cellular signal, so if you can't do calls in a particular area you obviously can't send or receive sms. This is for sure a Sprint Network issue if it happens in distinct areas only. Could also be that they are upgrading in those areas. I had the worst signal when they where upgrading to lte in my area.

This has been a frustrating issue I've been having pretty much since starting up my T-mobile service about a month ago.
To start off, my G3 is unrooted and on the latest stock software version, 20e.
I use Wifi calling often because I get 0-1 bars of reception at work. All seems to work well until I go outside and try to make a phonecall over the voice network. I'll have plenty of signal bars, be connected to 4G even, yet when I try to use the phone dialer to make a call it will say "Not connected to Mobile Network." or something along those lines.
I haven't done extensive testing, but I believe the other day I toggled the "Mobile Data" off then back on and was able to make calls.
Has anyone else had this trouble? Is it something possibly to do with Wifi and/or Wifi calling?
I believe I could make a phonecall using Hangouts when I was off of wifi, which tells me that the data part is working, but not the voice network.
I contacted T-mobile support, but they just had me do the "typical" things, like shut down the phone, remove the battery/SIM, start everything back up. And sure enough, it worked after that, but I'd rather not have to restart my phone or toggle stuff to get it to work as it should without any hassle.
Thanks!
My wife has the same problem after the 20E update. Her mobile is stock as well. It did not happen on 20B.

Off the top of my head no. I'll dig around a bit and see what if anything I come up with.,
From the digging I did I can't seem to find any help. The only thing I can think of is to factory reset it thing and see if it helps. I am going to do do it on my wifes phone tonight.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too... I'm not really in the mood to deal with restoring all of my apps and whatnot, so I'll hold off on the factory reset for now.
If you remember, could you let me know the results? If I know for fair certainty that a wipe will fix the issue, I might do it.
Thanks!
It's a network problem and it is worst on Samsung phones. I recently went and got a new sim card and it seems to have fixed it. I read it is because if you live in a area where there is poor coverage it causes your sim to where out fast.

This started happening before my first month of T-mobile service was even up with a brand new SIM. I'm not saying that it's definitely not a SIM issue, just would seem unlikely that it's worn out that fast.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing this or maybe knows a way to fix this. I have 2 issues with the phone calling on this phone. I had the 925T since launch and never had an issue with it. ever since i sent it in for repair, I've had a strange issue. Fist one is dialing out. When attemting to make a call, it takes anywhere from 3 seconds to 40 seconds before the call actually gets connected. this is highly annoying as i dial a number and it feels like forever before the call actually connects. my other issue is after the phon ehas been one for a few hours, I dont get any incoming calls. the phone will not show me any incoming calls at all so I don't even know when someone calls me. Ive tried everything i can. tried changing sim cards, updated the bootloader and modem, tried different roms, kernels, stock odin, everything. and its the same story no matter what I do. Anyone Have an idea of what it could be? It only works well after a fresh reboot. calls works without issues. hours later, problem comes back
I've had the same exact problem but I attributed it to using an AT&T Sim card on an unlocked T Mobile phone.
I've now rooted and installed Xtrostolite Rom with latest modem and bootloader. I've yet to have any issues. Good luck.
Anyone else have this issue?
I have this issue. It seems if i leave wifi off i do not ever have this issue. I live in a crappy coverage area so i have to have wifi on at home. I just reboot when i leave. I hate this phone....

You think the problem is WiFi related?
Yes. If i leave wifi off i never have the issue.
Still is happening. whether I have wifi on or off it always happens. It seem,s to be an issue related to VoLTE. When I turn LTE off, the issue dissapears. Updated baseband and bootloader to latest version and issue is still there. Have a custom rom and the issue is still there. go back to the tmobile rom and the issue is still there. thinkiing of going back to a tmobile firmware and turning off VoLTE in the firware then reflashing back to custom rom and seeing if that helps. if not, im selling the phone and getting the F version of the regular S6 and calling it a day. im done with carrier branded phones.
Interesting enough I haven't had this issue in the last 3 to 4 days. I wonder if it is AT&T related.
I have this issue. All the time. Unlocked from tmo, using straight talk at&t. This phone is the worst.
Anyone not on AT&T network having this issue?
I wonder if flashing the AT&T modem on TMO model will help.

@stu5797, yea man, I wish I had a solution. I'm happy it's not just me, but pretty bummed that there seems to be no answer other than it just doesn't work properly.
I've noticed the issue only happens during peak hours. Can anyone confirm?
I was having similar problems after the 5.1.1 update so after a few troubleshooting sessions with TMO, they sent me a new phone. 2 weeks now and no more problems. First phone that I have not rooted and flashed..... I was also told by a store rep that a lot of people were having issues since TMO is upgrading towers for 12 band.

Are you still having this issue? I have the same issue and the same phone but mine is unlocked and working on cricket network. So yeah same problem taking forever to connect a call and no receiving calls mos of the time. No ring no notification of missing call. I been doing some research and find a temporary fix. Try going to settings -mobile networks and switch from lte/wcdma/gsm to wcdma/gsm or gsm only. But before do a test. Turn off data and try to make a call see how fast it connects then have someone to call your phone. If it works then this trick will work for you. Of course you gotta sacrifices lte speed . Basically having 4g only but at least will fix your calls. These problems seem to ve related to volte i been trying to disable it but there is no such option under phone app setting. I just dont have it. (I cann show some screen shots) so if someone knows a secret code or app whatever to turn it off i will appreciate it. My phone is a t mobile galaxy s6 edge.

Didn't work for me. I turn off data and I still have to wait until the call goes through
I've been working on a fix since a long time now. If you are in SD community then you prolly know me. Anyway I was able to fix this on two of my phones and it's working fine. I tested for 12 hours now. I'll also tell you in the end what problems I'm seeing. I'm also working on a fix for that.
I noticed that a service is started when the fallback happens but if I kill that service the network also dies. But if you follow the below method it safely starts a new service which kills the one that's responsible for killing the 4G/LTE
1. Upgrade your phone to 13B firmware
2. Root 13B
3. Now download Shortcut Master lite app from play store.
4. Now add these shortcuts to your favorites in the "Shortcut Master lite app". You can search for "LTE" and click on search button
LTEBandSelection
LTETestMain
LTE System Selection
CDMAPreference
5. Now click on "LTEBandSelection" and enable all the bands
6. Save and reboot
7. You now need to enable your data and turn off your wifi. Make sure your phone is in Global mode (in settings >> Mobile networks >> System select)
8. After your phone is rebooted open "Shortcut Master lite" app.
9. Now tap on LTETestMain
10. Select Click on CDMA preference.
Now choose Band preference and select "any"
P_REV_Preference ---> "MOB_P_REV 3
This is important.. EVDO Revision --> Rev A
11. "LTE Connect w/o IMS PDN" must be checked
12. Now go back to your main menu in shortcut master lit app
13. This step is very important. Changing the timeout is important. Tap on LTE System Selection
Except "Scan duration" add a couple zeros to all the other timers. For eg: T_mpsr timer (Min) is 200
The fallback timer will reset itself after reboot. But don't worry the configuration is already updated with the new value. For some reasons the shortcut master lite app is not picking it up.
14. Now finally click on "CDMA preference" in the main menu and make sure it has the value you set in Step 10
At step 10 or 13 your network should go away and your phone should complain about "no network". That's fine. just ignore the message.
Now finally reboot your phone. That's it. You should now have 4G LTE and it won't fallback to 3G or H+
The only problem is when I'm on a call my 4G LTE is dropped to 3G/H+. But after I hang up it goes back to 4G LTE after 12 seconds. I don't know if it's an expected behavior. But I'm trying to see if there is a fix for that.
I tested this with Tmobile. Make sure your APN settings are correct.
Not working for me on Cricket (AT&T). Still will always go back to H+, 4G LTE only works when I select CDMA.

I tried it on my two phones (Both tmobile). My friend just tried it on his phone. It worked for him too.

That's great! I hope we can figure out also what we need to do to get it to work for AT&T, I am sure it's probably just some small tweaks required.

I will try it with my roomies att sim tonight. He has a nano sim, I need to find a sim adapter.
Awesome, thank you! worked for me T-mobile.
it initially didn't work but I had to turn data off then on.
It also cycles me to 2g speed for a few seconds sometimes but that may be due to poor signal in building.

Yeah It's due to the poor signal. I got that too. You can check your signal strength using LTE discover app.
But overall it's working fine for Tmobile. I'm gonna try and fix ATT tonight.
Is 13B the main thing in the solution? I've changed these settings before on 11A and wasn't fixed. I tried these numbers on 11A and still don't work.
Also, unless a phone supports VOLTE, it'll fall back to 3G/H for calls.

I tried in 11A and it didn't work for me. So I guess it needs 13B.
So I tried various combinations last night for AT&T/Cricket, but I was not able to get it to work. No matter what I tried, when I had 4G LTE, voice wouldn't work and whenever voice worked, I was back to H+.
If others are reporting that T-Mobile works reliably on 4G and nobody can figure out how to make this work for AT&T, I guess it's time to switch to T-Mobile.

No. Hold on. I have a solution for ATT too. I tried something last night. Actually while I was working on a solution for ATT I found that we don't even have to go through the steps I mentioned in my OP to solve the problem. It boils down to invoking a service and killing a native VZW service.
The ATT solution I have works but in low signal area 4G fades and it doesn't fallback to 3G or H+. I had to recycle data to get 3G or H+.
It's Working!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
You just made my life much better now!
I finally have a phone which is great and also finally have good reception!
I Love U!

Yes, that same thing happens when you switch to CDMA mode with AT&T. Voice doesn't work then (obviously), but it also doesn't fall back to H+ automatically, when you lose 4G coverage you pretty much lose signal all together.

Yeah I know. I also know why that is happening. Actually I think it's a bug in the baseband firmware. But we can fix that issue by just overriding the command that was sent by baseband firmware.

Do you have a working fix for AT&T/Cricket? Is it different than the T-Mobile?

Ha! You are repped!
What root did you use? and steps?
easyroot?
did you split the file and merge it back?
I must have really bad luck or something. It doesn't work for me. The Tbsr_cdma timer resets back to 2 at reboot.
Edit: Appears to be working. Nice job!

Root? I just flashed the rooted sys image. That's it. instead of copying it in the FAT32 memory card just copy it to your phone's internal and you don't have to deal with split and merge stuff
If it drops out of 4G on a call then you're talking on 1X. So no video chat, no HD voice and no voice + data?
