I came across a used G Pad 8.3 about 10 days ago for a $130, so I decided to snag it based on the cheap price. It was rooted & running CM11 and I used it as it was for the first week as I've installed CM on many of my older devices and enjoy it. Since day one I've noticed that wifi download speeds have not been good, though Web pages, YouTube videos and the like don't seem to have any real problems? When downloading a 200mb file I see speeds of 50-130kbps and it takes roughly 20mins to finish. The same file on other Android devices I own are finishing six or seven minutes. I've tested it with various files and devices. Thinking the problem may have been related to the Rom installation by the previous owner, I downloaded "CM 11 by Infected", reflashed the base and tested with the included kernel as well as "Red Kernel". Still, the problem has remained. I haven't tried returning to the stock LG Rom since I really prefer AOSP, but I'm afraid that may be my only resort? Is this a known issue with AOSP or CM for the V500? The device is in excellent condition with no signs of wear, so I don't believe the hardware itself could be damaged. I've searched the forums thoroughly and I've seen the problem reported by another user but no one provided any replies. I'm posting as a last resort before flashing LG's official firmware, and hoping someone is familiar with this problem. Is anyone using AOSP based Roms with no wifi problem? Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help, or offer any personal experience.
Sincerely,
Androholic
My v500 is running slimkat with redkernel and it runs at the same speed as my other devices for downloads. I have heard of certain devices not playing nice with certain routers before... Can you try a different WiFi access point to see if it only occurs with the one you normally use?
I had the same problem: turns out it was my router's fault, an old Thomson.
Try the download speed with different access points
Well I ended up flashing 4.4.2 stock rooted rom, and the wifi seems to be functioning as normal now. I never take the tablet out of the house with me, as I have an ipad air with LTE I use outside of the house. Either way I've found that after some tweaking and debloating the stock LG Rom is not so bad. I may eventually do some testing on a different router using CM, but for now at least I'll just stick with the stock rom. Thank you both for your replies, it's much appreciated.

I have had the LG G2 since the beginning of the year and have been very happy with the device. But network issues have come up that have affected performance and I have been toying with ideas of what to do to make G2 life better.
1) Sprint Spark. For us, in the Baltimore area, this is a total dog. How is your experience? Is it worth keeping the software on, or going back level to Jellybean (Kit Kat and Spark are inexorably linked now, so it's the two together, or JB again)?
2) Stock? Rooted? or ROMed? I like having access to the mobile hotspot for free, so rooted isn't too bad, but I don't have a great love or AOSP stock Android ROM's and I think the cameras, at least, are better on manufacturer versions. But, I am open to suggestions.
3) I did go backlevel (actually about 3 to 4 updates back) on the stock ROM for a week or two and found the battery life, voice and data to be MUCH better. I accidentally updated one two many times and came back up to Spark, which I am not happy about. One positive side effect...
4) Knock On works again. Not sure how many of you have experienced this, but my knock on has been dead since around Jan/Feb of this year. Once the Kit Kat/Spark update occurred, I could knock off but not back on again. Now, it's finally back, though a little temperamental.
So, any suggestions about how to improve the whole G2 on Sprint experience? Voice, Data, battery life (which is WAY down on Spark) without losing knock on/off? I'm not really interested in apps that simulated this, just in the real deal.
Thanks!
Try shutting off the LTE bands for Spark. You just need your MSL to do that. Many people saw an improvement, as it only looks for the standard LTE signal.
Stock ZVD Rooted. Freeze all the bloatware. Add a few personal tweak apps (Lux, Lightflow to kill the flashing LED at night, Xposed G2 Tweaks to get a "recents" button, and a few others). Battery could last me 2 days under normal use (which is rather light) or easily a full day of moderate use. I absolutely love this phone and though I used to reROM my SGS2 regularly I don't feel the need ever to do it to this phone. The LG version of Android is much lighter to me than Touchwiz is.
Optimus G3 rom. The flavour of a brand new phone, with a stock base...
Currently running a rooted stock ZVD that's been rather customized by me. Ripping out what bloat I could and replacing basically every app with stock or CM11 equivalents. (keyboard, clock, lock screen widget, messaging, some sounds and probably one or two I forgot)
Used to run CM11 but got sick of how moderately buggy it was and the old radio firmware.
As i've stated elsewhere this phone is kind of a piece of *bleep*. The thing seems to actively resist flashing of all kinds, i've nearly bricked it several times trying stuff out. Finally had to throw it in download mode to wipe it and put ZVC on it this Monday when I discovered the mic was broken.
So.. yeah, let's just say I very much so regret buying this phone. Only reason I did was because FM worked. Should have gotten a Nexus 5.
I have the Verizon flavor and passed on the upgrade due to my experience on my lg g2. My battery life went all to hell so i rolled back to kitkat and am quite happy to stay there. I'm curious as to how the upgrade is working for you on this device.
I personally love CM12.1 right now. It very (as in never) rarely crashes and for some reasons, apps seems to be more stable than on other roms. I have not experienced any battery issues and it seems to be the contrary for me because I am getting noticeably better battery life than before. Just to clarify things, I am running a V500, rooted, and running TWRP 2.8.

That was not his question...
Although I recognize some things I don't like in official Lollipop for the VK810.4G, I like it. Smoother, faster, especially [insert plug here] on my maximum debloated stock ROM in my signature below [/insert plug here]. ?I'm a function over form guy, though.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully some more will reply.
I upgraded my VK810 (Verizon) and I am not very happy with it. The battery life is similar to kitkat during normal use, but it is terrible at idle - burns 1.5%/hour overnight. It lags pretty regularly, sometimes even on the pin unlock screen for a few 5-10 seconds in the middle of entering.
I have done a full factory reset and set it up from scratch, which didn't improve the performance.
I am considering a flash of KK or even going back to JB. 4.2.2 was the most stable and bug-free version, in my opinion. I am reluctant to flash it, because it's a work tablet and I'd rather not risk bricking it. The only real reason I upgraded to LP was for the proper handling of trim on encrypted devices.
(I am not usually one to bash new releases. My Sony Z1c is incredible with LP, though it needed a factory reset to get there.)

Same here. Upgraded and not very happy with it. Has more issues connecting to hotspots in my house (issues I didn't have with KK) and it lags, a lot. Some things are certainly better, but I don't think it's any faster - if anything, just the opposite. Is anyone else having the lagging issues? I find it mostly when I'm playing games or doing things that tax the processor.
Guys i have held back for long , need your honest opinion about the latest update,so far everywhere i see , there a lot of compliants about bugs in general , wanted to know is it really worth to update to lollipop my major concern is battery,
also is it possible to take the backup of current ROM with its exact state if so how do i do that
I personally used lollipop for a month after it came out and well I was not satisfied with it. The html5 video player will buffer on the best of connections, I am assuming a chipset issue there. I flashed all custom ROMs available for the ROM to get a fix for the issue but could not. Battery life is decent but is quite a lot better in kitkat especially with proper closed modules to optimize it. I would not recommend it and no you can't take a back up of your kitkat ROM to get back to it from lollipop. Although you can go back to kitkat via a method displayed on the xda forums. This is just my view tho. Other users might have some other experiences.
Hi all,
As can be seen from my signature, I'm a pretty big fan of CM, and it goes as far as compiling CM for all my devices that have CM13.
I just got my own P600 days ago, and unfortunately, in the process of setting it up I found out that CM on this device is incredibly frustrating. CM13 unofficial builds produce constant noticeable graphic stutters that heavily interfere with gaming; CM12.1, albeit having reached nightly status for quite some time, has the sleep-of-death problem. Both also tend to simply freeze, go blackscreen and/or simply reboot when using normally. It even happens right when I had just rebooted to desktop and opened a random app. I am a seasoned flashaholic, but I find myself unable to handle these.
With that said, I'd like to try out other ROMs, however choices are scarce, and I don't have much time for tedious setup and testing. Can anyone who has been using other ROMs confirm if any of them are stable enough as daily driver?
Thanks in advance for helping!

I've found the hard way out to my CM agony... I spent countless hours and data downloading and testing out literally every ROM for P600 that I can find on the web, yet nothing satisfies: some go black screen, some go choppy, some aren't compatible with App Settings...
To end the pain once and for all, I purchased another Note 10.1, but this time I went for the slightly more expensive Qualcomm variants. End up getting a T-Mobile variant (P607T), flashed CM13 nightly for lt03lte (yes, it's compatible for both P605 and P607T out of the box) and everything simply went as smooth as it should. Even HSPA+ works, although my country has a different LTE band so LTE is unavailable.
I've already found a buyer for the Exynos one for a reasonable price so I don't lose anything either.
As Exynos 7/8 still hasn't gotten any usable AOSP development yet, I think I'll give up on Exynos as a whole... Qualcomm all the way!
MARKED SOLVED.

I've had a Verizon M8 since '14. I used Sunshine (or whatever it was) to set S-OFF and have been flashing various ROMs from day 1. Since Marshmallow ROMs started to appear I've been using them. Over the last 2 months or so I've noticed that my phone tends to die at around 50%. Often times after starting the phone again what appears to be filesystem corruption has occurred and settings reset themselves, icons disappear from my launcher, etc. Now I'm more or less looking to find the most stable, reliable ROM to keep me going until I get a Google Pixel.
Yesterday I flashed a the KitKat RUU (0P6BIMG_M8_WL_K444_SENSE60_VZW_MR_VERIZON_WWE_3.28.605.4_HSM_Radio_1.09.20.0926_NV_VZW_2.11_002_release_393779_signed_1.zip MD5: 6077fefbc12b51ae55f1a066c863a414) and so far it seems very stable. I noticed that this version actually has the ability to disable "Fast Startup" like the calibration directions say. I'm now running a stress test to see how fast the battery drains playing a stream.
Anyway, here are my questions: which version has the least number of issues, especially with battery life? Is my experience with Marshmallow ROMs not normal? Is it a known issue? Is either KitKat or Lollipop considered more stable? Do any of you stick to older ROMs?
As for bases, I think my only choice is stock. I love that 1080p60 camera too much to give it up. The flashable Sense camera for GPE ROMs does NOT record at 60fps when in Fast FullHD mode, it doesn't even hit 30 it seems! I don't think CM or any other AOSP ROMs offer it either, but I could be wrong.
I've had my M8 for roughly 6 months with nothing but MM roms on it the whole time. While I cannot vouch for KK or L roms on this device, I can say that your experience with MM roms is not normal. I've had outstanding battery life with MM roms on my device. Have you tried to flash a few different MM roms to see if it was just an issue with one of the roms? And does the issue still persist with the KK rom that you've most recently flashed?
Stay at kitkat , I was having almost most of your problem after I return it to stock it makes everything good or stock gpe its good for battery life.

Had no issues at all with my M8, been using GPE since a week after I bought the phone (about a year ago); Never even saw Kitkat on this device, only Lollipop, which was stock and also worked very well for me...
The GPE camera is as good as it's gonna get with an AOSP base, however they're not all the same. Cyanogen utilizes opensource camera and bluetooth drivers, which in the past have caused mucho trouble for me, GPE is the best of both, Google works with HTC to bake in your phones legit drivers, while still giving the vanilla android experience.
