Installing Android 4.4 on Samsung Wave S8500 problem - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hey guys, I would really use your advice on this.
I have been following steps posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2609560
I managed to reach point number 8, but when I try to restart my phone, it won't show any "FOTA set of red messages" neither Badadroid logo, just regular Bada 2 gets succesfully loaded. I have no idea what am I doing wrong.
So far I have been trying 2 Roms:
http://www.file-upload.net/download-...eroff.zip.html
https://yadi.sk/d/C1iIRo1tSVyVF
With both of them I copied related zImage to phone root directory and the whole zip to root directory of SD card.
Then I flashed BOOTFILES and FOTA using Multiloader, both succesfully (using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1732287)
https://yadi.sk/d/Yz7_dfpkC6TkC
https://yadi.sk/d/W4RjnjQRC6TfP
It still doesn't work, when I restart, just regular Bada loads. What should I do? Please help me, I am kind of new with this. Thank you in advance!
EDIT: OK, so I figured out that you have to hold END CALL + VOLUME UP to reach CWM. According to tutorial, Badadroid logo should remain on the screen for like 5 minutes, but it's just a matter of seconds till I reach CWM. Also at the beginning of the installation I get this message: can't mount /cache/recovery/last install. Otherwise installation finishes succesfully. But when I restart the phone, it's Bada again. Pls, what to do?

Original English WM 6.0 ROM for M88 MiPhone available for download!

English OS System 20080801 Edition (ROM image) for M88 MiPhone
Please download from here
If somebody knows how to enter the bootloader mode of this phone please share here with us!
Here is the instruction for this procedure from the supplier which is nor working for me:
"English OS System 20080801 Edition (ROM image) available for download
- To update ROM, format your TF card with FAT32 and unzip all files and folders from the downloaded file into the root folder of the TF card. Then, restart the phone to begin updating. This update converts all non-English versions of this phone into English version."
If somebody can manage to install the ROM please write here the steps!
Thanks!
You can get to the flash update by pressing RESET, MENU, and POWER all at the same time, then release RESET first and wait for a message. The message will tell you to release POWER to do a hard-reset or MENU to do a flash update. In this case, you will release MENU first, then you will get a message asking if you want to update from SD. At this point, none of the buttons do anything so I assume you have to tap the touchscreen. My touchscreen is broken so I couldn't get any further than this.

Thanks for your help, m8. It didn't work that way for me. I was adwised to do this:
1. Duplicate the update.img file and rename the second one as "uploader"
2. Copy both "update.img" and "uploader" on the SD - formatted in FAT32
3. Press POWER and HOME butons at the same time.
4. There are two possible options from here:
a) White screen with blue text showing "Upload image... please wait..."
b) Red screen with the options what to do in the next step -
5. I saw first the a) option - the white screen. So after 3 minutes of waiting the phone said it is done and it will selfrestart. After the restart - voila! There was the English OS loaded on my phone and everything was working perfect!
Hope this to help to other people too!
Wow! It was very detailed and finally i resolved my problem. Thanks!

Check this out:
Resco explorer
Pocket Mechanic
Pocket Toolman
Resco is very useful thing so the other two are very powerful as well. You will definetely uninstall S2U2 with more than one of them.
Good luck!

problems in m89
hello, I recently bought a M89.
In general the phone is great, but mine has a very big problem.
As a PDA it works great, but when I insert my SIM card the phone just freezes. It works for just a minute after the SIM is inserted. I've even been able to make one or two calls before it freezes.
But past one or two minutes it just stops working. It doesn't respond to anything at all, the only solution is to remove the battery.
I think the problem is in the firmware. I've reinstalled a bunch of diferent firmwares: wm6 english, wm6.1 spanish, wm6 english again... and nothing works.
can anyone help me???, 'cause this is really killing me :'(
Thanks in advance!

Just wondering - What is the size of your microSD card.
As far as I know m88 does not support SD card greater that 4 Gb by default.
Please, let us know.
Updated from SD Card ?
Hello, first of all I want to say thank you because I learned a lot from this thread. I bought M88 phone some months ago and is the first time I cannot use ( I really don't know what went wrong but finally the phone is not working or frezze ).
I bought 2Gb card and was formatted in FAT32. I also complete all steps in order to load the original image but I got this message: "updated from SD card?" and nothing more... What button must be pressed ?
I'll go crazy... do you know what's the next step ?
Thank you very much.
i dont understand sorry. i have to copy the "update" imgfile and rename it as "uploader"... and leave this two files : "update and uploader" in the root folder ?
I've install ROM from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452848
and now, when I try power on my MiPhone - it show only white screen - please help!
bootloading
the file, atleast on windows 7, shows up as "update". Also, I found it works must faster and easier to make 3 copies (4 files total)
naming 1: update.img
2: uploader.img
3: Update
and 4: uploader
(so the last 2 don't actual have .img in the title)
Then just make sure you hold down both the buttons, and vuo-la! haha
Doesn't fix the MMS problem though.
Does anyone know how to make it so that it can use mms?

Stuck/freeze (Hero) while downgrade. Not working now at all!!

Helo dear friends.
Well I just wanted to get some Hebrew in my Hero.
I have the Orange hero in Spain. Upgraded to official rom - 2.73.61.5, worked fine.
Now i am trying to downgrade it, so i can root it, so i can add all the fun stuff (including hebrew).
Did the gold card, since i understood that this hero is CID locked. (and maybe i am wrong). Then failed few times with error 140 when tried the 1.76.405.6 and 1.76.405.1 rom downloads. Then tried to downgrade to 2.73.405.5 rom as someone suggested here... and the process started happily, downloaded Splash1 ok, system ok, userdata ok, boot ok, bootloader ok, then GOT STUCK ON "Radio-V2 - updating" (at about 85%.. froze!)
(I attached a picture).
This happened few times, sometimes never even started to download, was just froze at the beginning of the process with: "zip header checking..."
So every-time this happened i had to disconnect it, pull the battery out or something, and try again. (I also found out that for some-reason things moved forward when restarting windows which by the way, works on parallels, mac ...)
Now the hero is stuck on the white error screen i guess, pictures attached.
Mmmm... hope someone can suggest something... straight and to the point, i feel i am going circles will appreciate allot.
Thanks in advance
Cheers!
First off ... KEEP THE PHONE PLUGGED IN! (So the battery doesn't die... If i remember right... fastboot chews through battery)
Next.. how long has it been stuck?
Well, first time for 30 minutes of no movement, then at the rest of the attempts i kept losing my patient each 20-30 minutes... in a process that might take 10?
yeah the battery ran out once..
thanks.
Trying again, now it's stuck on "system - updating". 20 minutes.
Please help.. someone?
Should i try another rom? any suggestion for Orange Spain?
Someone experienced problems via Parallels ?
Parallels as in your trying this from a VM? I would bet thats your problem! While it techincally shouldn't make a difference... I would try with real PC!
yes, virtual machine...
Ok, and that PC, should it have all the drivers for the phone? i mean now that the hero is stuck, would a different computer recognize it?
I should just download the rom to the computer and try to install it?
thanks.
You'll want to install the USB drivers (The HTC Sync download from htc.com likely has these included...)
If the VM still see's it - any PC with the drivers installed correctly will see it.
If you get the the custom recovery image flahed, you'll be able to do everything from your mac after that...
ho really? can you elaborate a bit on that? start with: " custom recovery image flahed"
Thanks.
Details @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
Thanks. and this i do after i downgrade successfully the rom (with lets say a proper PC?) ?
Do i need to root after downgrading?
As far as I remember - Yes - you will need to root the phone, then:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/recovery.img (If this fails with file not found dont worry about it)
I seem to remember needing those when I rooted my hero ...
Thanks kiall, resolved it at the end, without downgrade, no PC, just pushed the Recovery to the formatted sdcard, flashed it and the modaco rom and then radio and hebrew fonts, all is ok now...
Thanks for you time.

Unable to enter recovery mode

Hello all,
I'm trying to remove the bootsound for my Desire and so followed the instructions in thread 675580, page 3 (can't post direct URL because I'm a new user)
I replied there saying it does not work but after rereading carefully, I think it's because I tried the command while not being in recovery mode.
I then went around and read a few threads to figure out how to enter this mode. I thus followed the instructions in thread 6710092, reply number 4 in the part about "How to flash ROM".
I can get up to step 6 just fine. I even have the black screen with red triangle showing up. I then try the next step, that is running "recovery-windows.bat"
Unfortunately, adb-nilezon says it did not find any device and so errors out in the three steps inside the batch file.
The only option that I was able to find to get back the phone in a workable state was to remove the battery.
I noticed a behavior of the phone that is not mentioned in the above thread, so maybe I did not do something right.
In Step 5, right after I plug the desire to the PC, Windows says it has found a new device and complains it could not find the driver. I tried to have it search for drivers, but it could not find anything and thus aborted the install.
Along with this, in step 6, right after I press the power button to select Recovery, the phone seems to "reboot" as it shows the white HTC boot screen and it vibrates.
Is it possible that I am missing a part of the correct install?
I read all replies to the mentioned tutorial thread, some users have the same problem so I created a Gold card, which I believe I did right. But this did not change my situation.
When not in recovery mode, I'm able to use USB Debugging to connect to the phone and send my test applications via adb just fine.
Many thanks for your time and patience

Not sure if you do or not but do you need to have Htc Sync installed for the drivers?
I do have HTC Sync installed
Are you rooted? You need root to do this. If you are then why not use fake flash or unrevoked to enter recovery.
No I'm not, but the message in thread 675580 says there is no need for it, hence my tries here.
I'd rather not root my device if I don't have to, for the time being that is.

Recovery-windows.bat won't work unless you are rooted. The screen with the red triangle isn't actually recovery mode. The .bat file you would run pushes the recovery to the phone.
If you are not going to root, then you can get an app from the market that puts your phone on silent as you switch it off, and then back to normal when it's booted. This disables the boot sound. It's called silent boot I think.
Well then, I'm missing something from the other thread (675580) as I can't get the command to work.
I'll wait over here for any comments.
Thanks

Fake flash needs root. No custom recovery will work without root. Quite simply, if you are not rooted you will not have write access to /system

Huawei G520-0000 problems

Hello all,
I have a Huawei G520-0000 bought from China and tried to follow this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343580
I successfully rooted the device but when I tried to copy the following files :
OneTime Initializer.apk
GoogleLoginService.apk
Google Services Framework.apk
Setup Wizard.apk
Gmail.apk
in root\system\apps and then rebooted, android is now completely bugged.
I'm stuck at the "Welcome" screen and whenever I try to do something else, I have the folowing error "The Setup wizard has stopped" (My device is in french so sorry if it's not completely accurate).
I cannot start in recovery mode and I cannot modify the debug USB option...
Any ideas about what should be the next step ?
Thanks !
Brick Huawei G520-0000
Recently I flashed Huawei G520-0000 using CWM recovery with custom ROM I’ve got it from the internet after too many failure times trying to install official firmwares from Huawei support area (it starts unpack in the step 1 then after a while says failure, I tried many firmwares UPDATE.APP, but it was the same thing, so ended me up using custom ROM), after finish flashing the phone with this custom ROM ended up with starting the phone with green background and blue, red squares in center of the screen.
Now the phone stuck at this case and doesn’t continue booting up only frozen and if I rolled the battery out for 5 seconds then put it back and hold volume up and down in the same time the phone goes to the purple screen if there is SD card (dload, UPDATE.APP is located on the SD), it shows progress and the progress stuck at 35%
Any suggestion will be strongly appreciated

[GUIDE] How to Root ASUS Fonepad 7 FE375CG K019 (12.14.3.18) Lolipop 5.0

After 3 months of searching, I'm presenting you the method to Root your ASUS Fonepad 7 FE375CG (FE375CXG)
Introduction:
Originally this Rooting method appeared on 4pda, a Russian android forum meant for Russian community.
I translated the content of the Rooting in English below.
I hope the people, who have long waited for a working Lolipop Root, will find this guide useful.
Disclaimer:
* Warranty is void.
* I don’t guarantee that this will work.
* It maybe cause bad effects to your tablet.
* You are responsible for any damages or other issues that may arise directly or indirectly because of this.
* Very important: All your data and programs will be lost!
Before starting:
This root is specifically for WW_fonepad-12.14.3.18 (that's World wide version - lolipop).
This root will work both for FE375CG and FE375CXG.
To this date, 12-March-2016, WW_fonepad-12.14.3.18 is the latest update for this tablet.
Using this method will require to download 4 objects, in total of 900 MB.
Using this method will require a PC and a SDcard.
As for SDcards, I recommend Class 10 SDcard for android.
Step1: Pre-rooting - Check your software model.
1. Make sure that you are fully updated to WW_fonepad-12.14.3.18 (Lolipop) via OTA update.
2. You can check your firmware version here. ::: Settings --> About --> Software information --> Build number
Step2: Preparing firmware
1. Go ahead and download firmware ==> UL-K019-WW-12.14.3.18-user.zip (Lolipop) (800mb) ::: (Look at this picture)
2. Rename the zip file to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Place MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip in your SDcard. (Don't put it inside another folder. ) (Look at this picture)
Step3: Preparing USB connection
1. Download USB-drivers for ASUS connectivity ===> Download ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows.zip, then unpack it, then install Install_Driver.bat
2. Download USB-drivers for ASUS connectivity ==> Download and install IntelDnXUSBDriverSetup.zip.
Step4: Rooting
1. Turn off your Asus fonepad 7 FE375CG (FE375CXG)
2. At the same time, Press and hold Vol+, Vol- and Power for 4 seconds. ::: Screen on your Fonepad will remain turned off
3. Connect Fonepad to computer
Initializing rooting/using downgrade.cmd:
4. Download rooting tool ===> Download Downgrade_K019_NEW.zip, unpack it and start Downgrade.cmd. ::: Blue window will appear on your monitor and start working
5. Wait till you see logo Intel appear on your tablet. Disconnect from PC then turn off your tablet by holding power-button.
6. On tablet, again press and hold Vol+, Vol- and Power for 4 seconds.
7. Connect Fonepad to computer
8. On computer, hit Enter. ::: Rooting will continue
9. Later, you'll get a notice "ERASE USER DATA (FACTORY RESET)?". When you see that you should Only press ENTER.
10. Wait at least 10 mins for the rooting process to finish. When everything is done, the blue window (Downgrade.cmd) will close by itself.
Finalizing rooting/using DROIDBOOT:
11. Once Downgrade.cmd closes, your tablet will be in DROIDBOOT screen.
12. On tablet, Insert your SDcard into Fonepad. (MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HAVE PLACED MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip INSIDE YOUR SDCARD (Like in Step2).
13. With Vol+ or Vol- navigate to “Recovery” then click Power to select ::: Your tablet will proceed to root. Wait 5~10 minutes. When everything is done, your tablet will be turned-on and ready.
Congratulations. You've done it!
14. Go ahead and update SuperSu in Play Store.
It worked for me so it should work for you.
Thank yous:

Oh Also, after step 13, your tablet will take a lot of time to boot, like 5 minutes ^^ !
To save your device, there is an amazing Asus application. It is called "Sauvegarde" in french. YOu can use it to restore your apps settings

Hi Tarhsaz,
In short, there isn't
So for example, you should redownload your calculator........ O_O
Ahaha I'm kidding xD
But really, you should redownload whatever you want to have after Rooting.
And backup your important data on computer or somewhere else, before rooting.

Try with a new sd card, it will work
hi, i need help. my fe375cxg got rooted according to step 10 without much problem. then i went to step 11 & inserted SD card keeping the file MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip in root folder but recovery at step 13 failed to find the file, so i mistakenly rebooted. now it does not go to recovery state. if i push vol up & power switch at the same time it vibrates & shows "ASUS IN SEARCH OF INCREDIBLE powered by android" but does not go to recovery. i assume if i can go to recovery then i can flash MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip file. can anybody suggest how to go to recovery OR any other idea how to proceed. Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback.
Edit: At last by pushing vol up & power switch at the same time for a short time i was able to go to recovery mode. However, it looks like the file name should be MOFD_SDUPDATE (not MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip, since it is already a zip file) in the root folder of SD card, and it worked smoothly for me.
At the same time, Press and hold Vol+, Vol- and Power for 4 seconds.
Doesnt work with my device Asus Fonepad FE375CXG-1A006A. Whats that for a mode? Is that recovery mode or bootloader? Should I feel a vibration when pushing these 3 buttons? Does this work with win10x64?
I tried now Recovery mode (like smith74 is suggesting in his edit), but now --> Intel SoC Device Detection Failed in the BlueWindow appears
I also tried it again starting the .cmd as administrator --> !!! ERROR !!! FWR_DnX NOT EXIST, EXIT!
Edit: Ok now I got it. (It works with Win10x64 too, you don't have to use Win7 or sth like that). The trick is that you don't get any haptic feedback from the FE375CXG and you also don't (nearly) see anything on screen of the fonepad. You really have to push all 3 buttons (+) (-) and (Power). You can count to 4 or (better) take a deep look on the fonepad-screen, it flickers! Then release the buttons. After when you plugin your device (and everything is ok) Windows shows a screen, installation of "moorefield" or "adb-drivers.." something like that. Then you can go on with 4) Downgrade.cmd
Great Job .. many thanxx
How to downgrade from Lollipop to kitkat on Asus fonepad fe375cg? please, help!
So I'm facing some problems after upgrading to Lollipop via OTA. The device became very slow, I can hardly use it. Can I use this method to downgrade to KitKat? In other words, Can I use Kitkat firmware instead of the lollipop and continue with the same steps?!
Confirmed work for K019 Asus Fonepad 7 FE375CXG, indonesia,
with latest firmware WW_fonepad-12.14.3.18 official ota.
never tampered with, locked bootloader, not rooted.
i only used this tablet for my porn device.
Thank you op,, you have no idea how i bricked 2 different asus devices with different methods,,, and this is the only method that works....
As for problems, i have a few:
1. Step 4-4, like zardoz77 said,, there's no feedback whether i successfully pressed the vol+,- and power button,,, for me,, there's no flickering screen either,,, but what works for me is,, you have to press that 3 button for EXACTLY 4 SECONDS, and then release it,,, more or less than 4 seconds,, then it's gonna be "intel soc detection failed".
2. Step 4-8, when i see intel logo on tablet, then disconnect -> press3 button -> reconnect -> hit enter,,, the blue window unable to recognize the tablet!! and there are dozens of "attempt to reconnect" text,,, then i yanked the usb cable,, and it continues to root,, turns out the problems is my usb cable,, just one of the few solutions of that particular step.
3. Step 4-13, for me, the first time boot after recovery is 15-20 minutes,, at first, i thought it failed,, but then gave it a time,, it will show you the welcome screen.
Thanks a lot OP,,
Now, time to strap those sweet dualshock3 controllers.
tyring to delete my posting ... but don't know how
