Will the Epic4GT work with something that requires USB OTG such as "Therm-App"? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Will the Epic4GT work with something that requires USB OTG such as "Therm-App"?
So I read that this phone supports USB OTG so I was hoping to get it to work as a dedicated device with Therm-App.
therm-app.com
"Therm-App™ was tested and found compatible with these phones. Still, Therm-App™ should be compatible with any phone that runs Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” or above and supports USB “host” mode (USB-OTG). Click here for the latest list of devices."
I was hoping that when I updated to Cyanogen 11, it would fix things for me. It didn't.
Any suggestions?

You have to be on Touchwiz. CM doesn't support it.

oh no... and i had so much trouble installing CM 11. lol. Is there a touchwiz version for 4.4.2+? Can I do it right from the CM 11 recovery?

Would Touchwiz fix it? If the device requires power over the port, can the Epic4GT support it?
I've read other threads questioning that. Now that I have CM 11 on here, I don't want to risk tossing it if TW won't actually fix the problem. As for TW roms, are there any in 4.4.x? I only was able to locate 4.1.x.
Is this thread relevant for making USB Host mode work on Cyanogenmod 11?

Therm App works perfectly fine on my HTC one M7, and it will work on an S3, but I'm not having any luck with the Epic4Touch D710

Not for the E4GT... Only 4.1.2. IDK it's been to long since I've flashed an AOSP ROM on that phone.

It's called a nandroid backup[emoji6] make one and then flash Touchwiz, that way you can go back if it doesn't work. I remember people saying that it didn't work on AOSP and that the HDMI adapter didn't work on AOSP either, but they worked on Touchwiz. I have no actual experience in this field, only what people have told me. And no that thread is not relevant, completely different thing.

Hopefully we get a somewhat working port by Christmas!!!
Hi,
yes of course as soon as the AOSP is there I compile it and go to work
Oh and... Full qoutes are not so cool
It wont boot.............
Just joking This gives me sense of optimism. ICS is coming with small steps but its definitly coming. Thanks.
Hi,
I will try to work on the Rom tomorrow but maybe I dont see a bug/misstake and another sees it
This is exiting news !! can't wait to see ICS working on our hd2's

Honestly, it is kind of a waste of time to port the ICS SDK. I know that you can say that you were first to port ICS, but all you would get is a buggy build that has a bunch of missing features. It would be cool to play around with it a few days before the source actually come out but is the effort really worth it?

I allready know this "Guide"
It has to be some other kind of misstake...
SDK is not worth porting, I believe.

Agreed. Let's wait for ASOP or CM. No need to lose sleep over something that will never work good considering the past experiences with SDK ports.
Well, I have it running, but no more.
It has some strange screen pointer which makes using the device really irritating
Anyway, porting SDK sucks.

I've played a little with the SDK emulator today, I thought there was a setting to turn on/of the screen pointer under development settings or something(so settings > development > screen pointer)
Not sure, but you can try it

[Q] Full ICS

I think that especially ICS isn't as stable as 2.3.6 or even 2.3.7 on other devices so there are even bugs in the ICS stock ROMs - more difficult to create a custom ROM based on this
Full ICS......Yes It Will Be Possible !

Always remember arco68 is the only developer in the world developing CM9 ICS n now he has now started to help the S+ CM9 Team to port the same as both the SGW n S+ has similar specs +/-
Everything will be working soon.....arco68 is mirroring his development for us...

Nope, ICS in the carrier versions (the bloatware that Samsung & friends add to their phones) is just like GB.
It's the CM9 that arco68 provided that is clean, because it comes directly from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Right, I think thats exactly a big advantage of custom roms linke arco68's. Even when you install a rom that comes with bloatware and root it you'll have fragments left. I wonder how 'clean' arco68s ICS will be - in some custom roms i missed apps which where elemental for me anyway, it's going to be a great work when its finished
Waiting
Still waiting for a working camera on ICS. btw, arco68 is awesome
Is there anything we can do to speed up the development?
Figure the driver of the camera as it has to be re-written if you want the tech prints be glad to share...

Yes 100% and I have 2 building right now, 1 will complete, the second might not complete as im building with linaro. Will post the offical cm10.2 nighly tonight in the forums
flashed it and running fine. Few things are fixed that the unofficial build had issues with.
Anyone have touchscreen problems before flashing it? Like the multitouch issues being reported? How are the problems after flashing?

both at the same time.... and keep hold of them, after a couple of seconds or so you will hear the shutter noise and see the notification in the top left about the screenshot
Very stable ROM. I haven't come across any issues other than the screen not adjusting properly when switching to Extended Desktop.
Multi-Touch issues still persist. I haven't confirmed this yet, but it seems I'm not getting Hangouts notifications. I will confirm this later.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-I747 Trouble

Dear Members,
First of all I would like to say that I am a fan of all you developers out there .. you guys Rock !
So here is the thing, I am facing a huge problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-i747 in trying every damn custom rom out there.
I successfully ROOT & Installed Custom Recovery on it
then i tried installing Cyanogenmod rom on it. (it didn't worked) got Status 7 error
I installed another custom rom ( same error )
I tried to find solution for Status 7 Error and found many resources on XDA so I applied that to remove status 7 error ... well nothing work still it didn't installed rom gave error of some media+lost or something (don't remember)
then I tried AOKP rom and it worked ... it got installed and things were fine but the Camera app was not working it was just a total pain.
I downloaded Cyanogenmod for SGH-I747 again thought I have installed this custom AOKP rom now it should work .. but damn same thing same error no issue resolved.
So I downloaded the SGH-I747 Stock ROM and Installed it and it worked like a charm again... but hated that touchwiz crap so after few days amazing developers at XDA / Cyanogenmod cameup with Cyanogenmod Installer (One in all installer app for custom cyanogenmod)
So happily I plugged in my SGH-i747 after installing the Cyanogenmod Installer on Android and PC
the phone got detected
Cyanogenmod Installer (PC) started downloading recovery / rom everything for it. Once it was all downloaded it asked me that its going to flash the phone I said fine proceed ... so suddenly I saw Cyanogenmod Logo on phone I was super excited that now its gonna work .. but then suddenly I got this error
{

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This symbol disappeared on the screen and then the this came up
After that it said that it has finished installing cyanogenmod but when I started the phone it was the same stock rom which I installed before and cyanogenmod did nothing to it .
AOKP works and nothing else does as in a custom ROM ...
I am so fed up with this now ... It would be great if someone could just help me out here ... I am just dying over here ...
Best Regards,
Adnan
Since I'm assuming by custom roms you mostly mean cm based aosp roms, have you update your bootloader yet? If not here's how:

Fire Phone Lolipop cm12?

I was wondering if it was possible to get cm 12 or lolipop for the Fire Phone. If so please tell me where I can get it. Thanks!
Do you know how to use the search function? If so you would see that CM12 is not possible until amazon releases an update to lollipop. So everyone can sticky this and stop asking every other day.

Btw. There is a "network" of scam sites, claiming to have a Lollipop ROM available for download... just mentioning it, since they are always high up in the google search ranks, because people use generic terms like "fire phone lollipop rom".
Dear,
if you have CM11 & you want CM12 for theme only that's so easy
only download Ideal theme cm11 from google play
Enjoy
So we will never get Cm12 neither stock Android lollipop :/
That's no problem. We will just backport everything, just like Xiaomi does for example, and we will have Android N in no time, I heard it will be even better than MIUI for Fire Phone! :highfive: :victory:

Its certainly possible to port newer cm roms to fire phone. This person either put out a fake image or has a working lollipop cm (which seems to mean has a reason why it isn't released at this time). I'm just guessing this person is still working on it.
