Hi
Whenever i try playing a flash video in the browser (or in skyfire), after i press the play button, the progress bar is moving, i get the audio, but there's no video - the video area remains black.
I'm experiencing this for about 2 months now, in which i switched ROMs (iceandfire, cyanogen), updated the flash player several times, updated skyfire several times (it happens both in skyfire and stock browser), cleared cache of those 3 apps, cleared data, tried to uninstall and reinstall...
nothing helps...
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'll keep an eye on it over there. I''ld delete this post if I knew how...
I also had this problem, then I downloaded the 10.2.idontknow and it worked again!
i am using the cm 7.0.3 and adobe flashplayer 10.3. seems no problem. i did not do any extra setting. so give it a try.
I have a similar issue. Mine will play fine in the browser, but when I open the video in Youtube after starting a video in the browser, it will start to play, but only audio plays - no video. I am currently using a stock, non-rooted G2. I didn't have this
problem with my last G2 running CM7 though...

I have the same issue. However my YouTube app works fine. An interesting point is videos that automatically open in full screen from the browser work. I'm on cm7.0.3 with the latest flash.
I used to be able to resolve the issue with an older version of flash but now when I do that YouTube gripes that I must update flash player.

Wow I must be lucky, because I've never experience this issue. And I watch youtube dailymotion on the browser and never had this issue

I've had the black screen of death too. Only audio on random embedded videos. Like worldstarhiphop.com for instance. I'll try a fresh rom install and see if that works if no fixed is found in this thread. It's the only thing hindering CM7 based roms.

from the cyanogenmod forums (the link i posted in my first post):
@dewd write:
"Yes. I did 2 things to make it work.
1. I updated to the latest version of Flash in the market (10.3.185.22).
2. I used ROM Manager to "Fix Permissions" (and rebooted).
After these steps I was able to watch Flash movies.
This did not fix Netflix, It plays movies with sound, but no picture. "
it worked for me, took a couple of minutes to fix permissions but then i was able to see flash videos again.
i checked it only in 1 website though...
I have same problem...
Apparently the fix permissions method didn't work...
So I tried what @Tommebaas recommended, and downloaded an old 10.2 version of Adobe Flash Player.
It worked! thanks @Tommebaas
Here's a link to the version that did the trick for me:

10.3 is better and runs flash that 10.2 can't, so that's not really a fix if I downgrade.

What does 10.3 run, that 10.2 can't? I don't view a whole bunch of sites with Flash. But for what I have viewed, I've never had an issue as far back as 10.1. It seems like a lot of the recent updates have had more to do with tablets (and very minor performance enhancements) than anything else.
I moved Flash to SD and it works for me now.

the 10.2 install fixed it for me, idk what is suppose to be special about 10.3 but um if it doesnt work its not better than 10.2 so yeah.
I'm transitioning into our miui ics build and it's amazing. I'm having issues with videos from ESPN and even mlb at bat. The gb build worked, but can't seem to get videos to come through.
Is there anything that I can dl or tweak to get the miui ics build to support video playback?
Thanks

Which MIUI ICS are you on, Lithium's or Swipers??
Try MX Player
I'm having that issue on Lith's... Any ideas HipKat? Thanks in advance bro
Like I said, MX Player has been shown to playback video with no probs on Swipers ROMS. Since Lith has HWA, I would assume it will work on his, too
Hey hk. I've tried both and still the same. Currently on swipes and video will try to start and hen goes to error prompt. Vevo works tho. Maybe we'll see a change in Fri/sats build?
Thanks!

Its most likely you are missing a set of codecs. I can only recommend downloading a media playing app like VLC, this will play most files types. Without anymore information about what rom you are using with what kernel it is hard to say anything more.
One of my favorite features of this phone is I can press a little box on the top of the video player when a video is playing and share it with my Samsung TV. I've been using Wicked V7 ROM for a while and it works on there too. But I've been wanting to try the 4.4 Kitkat ROMs lately, and wondered if this video sharing works on them. Or is this only a Touchwiz feature?
You can download a media share app off the Playstore that will link to your tv via dlna. Samsung allshare is what you ate using now which is built in to stock roms and an option for all touch wiz roms. But on cm barsed roms you need to download a media server, then turn it on and have your tv search for media servers, than you can play any file on your phone, but I don't believe it will screen mirror.

Great. Hopefully I can get one of those working. It's the only thing that's got me stuck to touchwiz roms now.
Me too and wifi calling, which are t mobile based twiz, I dual boot to run aosp based roms when I'm not at home or work

i have problem with youtube app, i cannot play live videos ( live - streamed like LoL LCS)
anyone has same proble?
its the fault of rom or youtube app itself?
edit 1: its rox TC rom
edit 2: problem persist even on 19/3/2014
it can be bugged on all cm11 custom roms. I dont check it (its not important to me). Have you tried disabling hw overlays in developer setting? Maybe u should try apk from other rom or yotubehd mod
I'm pretty sure its just live videos. Streams from the Twitch app don't play either
