thinking of buying this phone and trying to decide if i buy it for Tmobile or Verizon (no more sprint for me) one thing i need though is to be able to talk and surf the net at the same time...
Anyone regret buying this phone.....
What do you love the most of this phone?
What do you hate the most of this phone?
many people complain about the size of the phone which does seem huge but i can comfortably use it with one hand so thats not an issue for me i actually type better no typos not like on the sgs2...also i dont wear skinny jeans so it fits in my pockets without a problem
Hows the reception on this ? sgs2 and sgs3 reception really suck
If I were in the market for a phone right this moment I would most likely buy the Galaxy Note 2 again. I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever over getting this phone. I hate the bloatware that comes preinstalled on it that cannot be removed without root access and the somewhat limited flexibility of the Multi Window feature among other things. However, these are minor things that in no way tarnish the appeal of the Galaxy Note II to me. As for what I love about this phone, on the other hand, I could be here all night though I'll keep it brief: Multi Window, S Pen functionality, the sheer size of the screen (although 5.5" doesn't seem so massive anymore compared to the competition's 2013 flagships) and the larger capacity battery which easily gets me through 1 - 1.5 days of heavy-ish use.
I hope I've answered your questions and good luck!
Galaxy 3 bad reception?? U must have had a bad one in the at&t forum and me personally have never had bad reception with it. I don't think I've ever lost more than 1 bar or dropped a call

Best phone I've ever bought hands down..
I would buy the Note 2 again in a heartbeat. it does everything i want it to do and does it all day long.
I just got this phone in Feb. And I love this beast. I would buy a second one for the wife. We'll wait for the S4 for her. No regrets on this phone. I haven't rooted it and might not need to because I can disable the bloat.
thanks to everyone who has replied back .. best way to get real feedback is to ask the real heavy users ... video reviews are good but only to a point which is why i thought i asked on here
When I bought it I watched this video on YouTube. It made me realize this phone is a monster to a point that I will never buy any other phone again. Only newer Notes that come out when it's time to upgrade.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nh2NSLgaII&feature=youtube_gdata_player
No regrets whatsoever, and I haven't even scratched the surface of what this phone can do. Even without all the fanciness of hooking it up to the smart dock etc, just having the multi-window, the pen, the battery life, and that large screen is such a plus.
I would definitely buy this phone again. I paid $690 on release day and feel like I already got my money's worth..I commute 3 hrs a day, too and from work, so my phone gets heavy usage.
This is the Best phone I ever had and the Development is already hard to keep up with!
Love the phone and I love it even more that is rooted with the amazing battery .

no regrets at all!!! have had an amazing time thus far with this phone, it takes care of everything that i throw at it, and covers all my uses while on the go, in a sleek design. its powerful for whatever you want to use it for. if i had to buy it all over again, hands down i would not go for any other phone at the moment. screen size is amazing, multi-tasking (w/ multi-window), S Pen, battery life are all amazing! i honestly have no complaints whatsoever with this phone! as with all carrier spcific phones, bloatware will always be present, but for that you can always root and clean up. besides that I LOVE MY GN2!!!!
Idk how to get amazing battery life on this phone without rooting, I get on average max of 7 hours heavy use, 12 moderate use, and 18 light use.

Another way to look at it is through the resale market. You wouldn't see too many Note II available. Most Note II users simply couldn't find a better replacement.

I'm in the market for a new phone. I've been looking between the Note 2, SGS4 and the HTC One. I'm kind of leaning towards the Note 2 but I'm concerned that it might not be the best time to buy one of these. Thoughts/suggestions?
why would now be a bad time to buy the best phone on the market?
I'm concerned how well the phone will hold up over the next two years. I don't want to get left out in the cold because I decided to buy the Note 2 instead of the SGS4
it hasnt been out for 2 years, so no one can answer that question...
OK, let's simplify this. You were up for renewal, choice is a Note2 (assuming you dont own one) or an SGS4. Which would you choose?

Unfortunately that doesn't help when I'm on the road for work
note 2 no contest...
I couldn't wait and got the gnote2 a couple of weeks ago. I sold my gnote first and that covered the cost with the 2 year contract. So I'm happy.
I got it at Walmart since it was a lot cheaper than at&t store or online and just 10 more tjan amazon and I didn't have to wait 5 days even with amazon prime, weekend I guess.
My thinking was the s4 might drop the price of the note2 a bit but the note1 is stikl 200 at at&t store.

It all depends on your budget and your need. If you're on the road constantly then the Note would be best for you because of the big battery. Again it all is dependent on your type of usage as well as budget. If money is not an issue I'd say the s4.

I'm going to recommend the Note 2. I just installed CM 10.1 and have underclocked to 900Mhz and the device still runs as smooth as I need it to day in and day out. Keep in mind that 900Mhz is nearly half of what the processor is capable of.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Until concrete numbers are in I'm going to say the Note 2 just on battery size. Lets face it doesnt matter what ohone you have, with no juice it's ni good. Note 2 has 3100 mah and S4 has 2600 mah. Biggest difference for battery comsumption is screen but the difference in battery size doesnt make up the difference.
2600 for a 5" LTE phone is terrible; my wifi SGP 5.0 was "ok" with 2500; my original AT&T Note kinda ok with an aftermarket 2700. Bleh.
It's always a bad time to buy a new phone.
There will always be a new one coming out or just around the corner. ..
Your on the Note II forum. ..so expectations and answers to be more positive for it than any other.
Right now. ..this phone is still the best for those who want a big screen. .fast cpu..plenty of new roms/themes/add ons and have a Spen to use.
Others have their own strength and weakness as well. .so figure out what you really want. ..and go from there.
Being stuck with this phone for 2 years isn't a problem. ...if it has what you want and need really. ..it's just not going to be the latest version out soon. ...BTW plenty of folks still use their Note 1's....
Ask yourself what you need. ..as opposed to what the companies are promoting as the next big great thing...because this is how they rope folks into always wanting something new.

Hi,
I'm looking to pick-up a Bell Note 2 in the next few days(goodbye Atrix & Gingerbread!), and just wanted some tips from experienced owners.
(ie best cases, kind of official/unofficial support, known hardware defects to look out for, regrets/sastfactions).
Thanks
Note 3 in 3 weeks. Just chill. Thats my recommendation.

You can grab a GN2 or a Note 3! But keep in mind that if you the Rom flashing type then you'll probably want to GN2. Because development is excellent for this device.. I must say. Lots of great devs working on the beast!
But for the NOTE3 development might now start right away until the bootloader gets unlocked. Kinda like on the S4 release...

That doesn't mean the bootloader is going to unlocked! So meaning development will be moving slow on that device! Because Sammy was talking about locking down they're bootloader's..
And personally it's not that big of an upgrade from the GN2 imho!!!!:what:

It's a quirk of my plan.
Only partially subsided phone, so the Note 2(or S3) are only $75 whereas this years models(HTC One/S4) are going to be over $300.
Any further advice? Case recommendations?
Well, I got my N2 about 8 months ago and couldn't be happier with the device itself or the custom community.
What I do think could be better is the selection of cases and accessories. In planning on getting a seido surface case and holster soon, it's the best way to keep the rig protected and easy to reach at the same time.
But, the note 3 is on the way, and yes, it's most likely going to be half the retail price on contract. That's the big question, get the note 2 while it's cheap or wait and get the note 3 at launch or shortly after.
Either way I think the note 2 is a great device and you really can't beat the Dev community that comes with it. The note 3 has new security and it's still to be seen if it'll be easy to crack it. And beyond a few hardware tweaks, it's not that big of a deal when you can get the note 2 for around a third the price on contract.

Got my GN2 from Bell back in January. Couldn't be happier with it. Here are some things that come to mind:
Some of the features like Multi-window and S-Pen functionality are only available on Samsung-based (Touchwiz) ROM's. Some people don't care for the pen and flash AOSP ROM's like CM10.1, which have been in development for a while now and work quite well. Personally I find myself using the S-Pen and multiwindow a lot, so I stick with Touchwiz ROMs (you can always switch to Nova or another Launcher if you don't like the cartoonish look of Touchwiz).
If you'd like to stick to a Samsung based ROM, check out Miscom's N7105 Ultimate ROM in the Android Development section. He basically takes the Samsung ROM from the international LTE version (which gets updated more frequently) and adds in useful bits like extending the Multiwindow functionality to any app (its restricted to a few Google and Samsung apps on the stock ROM). Gives you a stock feel while being more optimized and feature packed.
I don't know if its been patched, but the LTE GS3 and GN2 models had a simple way to sim-unlock through some dialer-code settings. Multiple claims that it worked just like that. If its still around, it might be worth a shot.
By default, a double-tap of the home button is configured to launch S-Voice. Not only does S-Voice suck, but it also introduces a delay when you tap the home button once to go back to the homescreen. You can disable the double-tap option from S-Voice settings to get rid of the delay.
I'm not aware of any specific hardware defects. Some stock ROMs had glitchy apps but I've been using the modified stock ROM pretty much from the start.
I personally don't use a case, so I can't help you there.
If you plan on using a car charger, make sure you get a quality, high-output one. The Note 2 has a big battery and charging can be very slow on the usual flea-market chargers. I use a Motorola one that I got from Amazon. Its not as fast as the 2A wall-charger that the phone comes with, but its still decent. It can actually charge up the phone even while its being used for navigation/phonecalls etc. Most car chargers can only maintain the current charge level when in use.
If you need more storage, a 64GB microSD card is a good option and works without hassles. Bought one last year for ~$50 on Boxing Day. I listen to a lot of Lossless music (25+ MB per file) so the extra storage helps.
If you feel the need for it, the Smart Dock also works as advertised. HDMI output + three USB ports. I can confirm it detects keyboards, mice, USB flash drives and external hard drives just fine. Can easily playback 1080p video from external drives over HDMI.
Thats all I can think of at the moment You can't go wrong with the GN2. I am holding off on the Note 3 upgrade and the only thing I may miss is the higher resolution screen. In terms of performance and everyday use, I'm happy with my GN2.
Hi all,
I sold my Note 1 last week, since it was dying on me constantly and I needed a new one. Of course I couldn't simply downgrade to a smaller phone, and I've received a good offer for my Upgrade. I was going to get the Note 2 for £23 a month for the next two years.
Now I know the Note 3 has just come out, but at it's current price tag (£42 a month +) I just couldn't afford it.
Would it still be a good choice to upgrade to the Note 2 for the next two years? All I want is a solid productive phone with a great battery life, something my Note 1 didn't have.
Thanks in advance!

go for note2 if your budget does not permit a lot is expected with the official 4.3 update and then kitkat rolling soon next year
Let's see, I always brought my Note II with me at work.
And the working hours are 8:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm
At the end of my work I still have 70 to 80 battery percent with Mobile Data turned on all day.
So yeah, I would still buy Note II if I had Note I and couldn't afford Note III.
But if you're someone who's itching to try out Note III, sometime along the way you'll be like "I wish I bought Note III"
Anyway, Note II is a good phone, actually almost perfect. You can survive the whole day with this guy.
Aside from battery, it's very responsive and fast.
Plus, it's never bad to upgrade hehe.
Assuming you're not a gadget/phone hungry guy, go for Note II bro.

I agree, the Note 2 is still an excellent phone. I strongly recommend to buy the LTE version (N7105).
On the other hand, if you don't like Samsung's monopolist tendency (like I don't), the LG G2 seems to be a great, affordable option. Could be my next phone (or the Nexus 5 once it's available).
Good luck

Buy a note 2 now. It's as cheap as it will get. Note 3 does not bring much to the table, you still can't see pixels in 720p and you can scale your UI however you like it using a launcher so 1080p on small devices is pretty much useless.
Battery life is ridiculously long comparing it to any other smartphone.
May not be as beautifuly crafted even as a HOX but at least they work.
It's a cheap phone that's very powerful and also does the job of a 7" tablet well. Also there's a neat stylus that does all sorts of cool stuff. Also new update soon including most of note 3's new software.
Get a note 2

Go for it, the prices have dropped to reasonable levels too.
You had a Note, so the size will be a non issue.
The only minor regret I have, is that looks and aesthetics matter to me more than I thought it did.
Slap the official protective cover, and I love it again
Thanks for all of your responses guys!
I've decided to take the plunge and have ordered the Note 2
Looks like I'll be rooting it as soon as I get my hands on it
Looks like I've received the 4G Note 2 (GT-N7105)..
Anyone know if there is any disadvantages to this? I don't mind the 4G, but I really do not want battery life to be affected, mainly because I'll be using Wi-Fi and don't have a 4g plan anyway.
Any ideas on whether I should give it back for an N7100?
Thanks!
No way should you give it back. I have the 7105 and don't have a 4g plan either but will maybe get one on my next contract.
Imo the 7105 will be worth more in trade in and your still going to use it non lte so the battery issue is not an issue.
As long as you don't want fm radio keep and enjoy what you got.
Let us know how you get on.

My two cents:
I have an Xperia Z and a Note 2, and recently bought an S4, after mulling a bit over the Note 3. I found that my Note 2 betters the S4, and beats the Xperia too. The Note 3 for me did not offer any thing new that I could find interesting. The Note 2 is still an awesome device, and I won't be letting it go for a while.
The main plus the N3 has over N2 (for me) is a better display. For my everyday use (office stuff, light gaming, music) the N2 is great, the battery rocks, and the 8mp camera is decent enough (and better than the Xperia's in many aspects - not kidding! ). I would recommend this phone any day!

Did you see the new lg g 3 Vista? It is 5.7 in and it is only 375$. I mean it's not the best but it looks like a good phone. Check it out
I'd rather get 1+1 if price is a problem. Nexus 6 and Note 4 aren't very smooth (some reviews said so). Maybe because the QHD screen. And if I want a new phone, I want it to have no lag at all.
Xperia Z3 Compact is very alluring, 801 with 720p. The battery is very good too. But the screen is smaller and that might become a problem for you. I'll definitely get this device if I can't get the 1+1.
If you want to wait though, device with snapdragon 810 is around the corner (february?). Rumor also said 1+2 will be coming soon.

love those features!
note 4 has physical button to wake, it's a plus unless you have the double tap to wake.
The external SD card is a nice feature on any phone. But no devices get supported in an official way like nexus devices, both vanilla Android from Google and the various roms from the developer community both end up supporting the devices real well.
That's one of the reasons why I am leaning towards the nexus 6 because of development and updates. But that note 4 does have some cool stuff. Someone mentioned the 1+1 when that phone came out I was all on it. Thinking this is great high specs cheap price. Then they pulled this invite crap. They lost me good luck still trying to get one.
I would suggest to wait till almost quarter of next year (2015). You would see some 64 bit devices coming to the smartphone market.
At present I don't think one should spent so much money on Nexus 6 or Note 4 or even Z3.
They are all 32 bit, probably you might not notice a drastic change in you experience moving to any of these device.
Wait for 64 bit chips Snapdragon 808 or 810, wait for 4k screens coming next year.
Waiting now shall prove fruitful for you.
For now I have sold my GPro and bought a used Nexus 5 device, pretty, doing this is pretty common here.
I did not go for a new expensive phone for all the reason I just gave.

IMHO I basically see no 'usable' difference between 720p and 1080p. But that is just my view.
Further a new G Flex is now available for around $300-350, while a note 4 will cost almost double of that, so you could save tons of money for sure
