For some reason my WiFi is acting up. It works fine for a few minutes and then for some reason just stops. I then have to turn the WiFi off and back on again to resume connection. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Is it localized or is it every place when you are connected to wifi? Could be tied to battery saving (i do not have mine yet), or if at your home, your router could be the issue: try resetting your cable modem & your router to see if that corrects it.
Both my office and home networks seem to be having this problem. The one thing I tried this morning at my office is assigning a static ip address. Seems to be working so far.
If you to settings>wifi, do you have smart network switch on? If so, try unchecking it. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Smart network switch is off. Dedicating a static ip seems to be helping for now. If things start hanging again I'll update the thread. Thanks for the help.

Hi all, Im having a problem that is slowly driving me insane for the past 2 weeks. I surely cant be the only one. Anyway, I generally move between home and work daily, both have WIFI. When Im at home Im connected, all fine. I travel to work, WIFI isnt connected, again this is normal. I get into work and when I expect it be connected to WIFI it isnt, WIFI is off and I have to manually turn it back on to get it connected to WIFI again. Why do I have to do this? Why have all my other Android devices just worked normally and reconnect to known networks. Its soooo frustrating
Anyone have same problem or have a resolution?

Both Stock rom, with and without the volume fix, and Modaco MCR4. Wifi settings are set as WIFI on even during sleep.
Is there some settings Im missing somewhere other than in Settings > Wireless & Netowrks > Wifi ??

Yep. Try that. Only thing I can think of. My wifi was flaky with that setting on even 4 from my router. If that doesn't solve are you using any kind of task managing àpp?

I have posted this in other people's threads in regards to poor wifi reception. I recently purchased a 9250 through bell canada and have the same problem.
I have turned off the 'avoid poor connections' as well. It turns on and off on its own and can't get through a download of more then 5MB on wifi.
It will also reconnect on its own if I have left wifi turned on. I would say while WIFI is turned on I may actually be connected 30% of the time. This is 90% in 2 feet away from a router.
I'm having the same issue (wifi turning itself off) - noticed it the other day and just assume I'd caught the wi-fi button (I use extended controls). Happened again this morning and also just now as I got home.
I've not modded anything on my Nexus (4.0.1) - avoid poor connections has been disabled for a while.
I may test the theory, but betweek home and work is a wifi enabled bus journey, I never use it but it always tells me there's a wifi available. I might turn wifi notification off and see it if turns itself off before I get to work in the morning...
Left home with wifi on... Got to work and wifi was off? Wtf?
Could it be extended controls?

You are not the only one, it's happening to me in exactly the same scenario. Oddly enough it hasn't happened today.
i cant make out of your post thast the wifi on/off button turns of? or just the connection to the wifi adres?
i dont know about any sleep or auto turn of policy's as i didnt try it(i always turn off my wifi when travling)
but if its the last thing.
than the problem might not even be the GN.?
but the router it self.
even computer's and laptopt can have problems when the password is too long,or to different(hard characters like :';/.m,[email protected]#$%^&**(() ][ )
it might also be the MHZ setting,as the 20MHZ has wider range but can be disorted by machines like microwaves.
but the 40MHZ has lower range but wouldnt be disorted.
as there is also the channel option thats has been set wrong/or the pasword encryption. or any other router conflicting with the router you want to connect.
it might also be the router not liking your GN.(as my spica doesnt conect to my router at home, but all my other devices do.my router doesnt want to give a IP to my spica.)
It just happened to me again now, left the office whilst wifi was on and connected. Grabbed some lunch and returned (about 20 mins) and now my wifi button is set to off and I need to set it back to on.

Can't see any policy settings or any power save features. Running stock.
somehow I have fixed it. Problem is I don't know how.
Here is what I did in case anyone else needs help;
*From the 'My Vodafone' app, select wi-fi finder, in settings untick 'Enable BT Openzone'
*Settings, wi-fi, advanced, untick 'Network Notification', untick 'Avoid poor connections'
Not sure which of the above actually fixes it but my Wi-Fi has been on for about 1 1/2 days now.
Have you or when did you upgrade to 4.0.2? As the changelog mentions a wifi fixed. Only upgraded this morning so won't see if it has worked until I get home...

So I am still having this problem since day one. I have travelled through 3 countries and multiple cities and tried to use WIFI in at least 20+ different instances and the problem is the same.
It connects right away (really quickly actually) will stay connected for a bit then eventually loses connection.
I can't download any of the big packages for the games and so I can't play them. I won't use my data connection for anything over 100mb.
I got a message for an update yesterday. Updated the phone but I see no difference in the Android version number.
Anything happening with this?
I thought the update i was downloading was 4.0.2 but i guess it wasn't.
I am familar with updating and flashing from the galaxy s. But I want to use the phone completely stock for while.
I have just returned my nexus for a replacement. Lets see how it goes.
So far I have had the power shut off once while toggling the wifi widget (never happened on my other phone). And the wifi has disconnected twice. I have just done the update (not 4.0.2) and it seems to work a little better.
Called samsung yesterday after getting the replacement phone when it had the same issue (just as a reminder I have tried it on numerous routers/ap's) and they said they hadn't heard of the issue.
I said I was just calling to provide some feedback. They told me to return the phone yet again. I obviously believe I don't have a problem with the hardware at all. I figured if store let me return it, then why not.
Anyway onto my 3rd one today and the exact same problem.
I think that even though I am turning off "Avoid Poor Connections" it isn't actually turning that 'feature' off. Every so often and only if your watching the wifi settings it will say that it disconnected the wifi connection due to low signal.
Mind you all of this is 1' from my router while sitting at my computer. My galaxy S is sitting beside me and has maintained a wireless link to the router the entire time.
Hey...I really have a strange wifi issue that I nor anyone else I have asked can figure it out. My galaxy note 2 connects to our wifi router with no issues. Works fine. BUT...occasionally it loses connection to the internet. It stays connected to the router...but not internet connection. After I turn it off on my phone and turn back on...its back on and fine.
B U T...that isn't all. WHEN it loses internet connection...it turns it off for EVERY other wireless device in the house. Laptops...cellphones, etc. Every other device will not be able to connect until I turn my wifi off on my phone and turn back on...or at least leave off. It never happens anywhere else...just at my house.
What is going on? I haven't a clue how to fix that nor what can be done...or why it is even doing this.

Yes. just did again. I'm just keeping my wifi off on my phone for now. I have a tech coming out to replace the wifi router since its theirs.
I have had similar issues ever since i flashed a 4.3 rom, wifi never works properly, did the param-4.3 odin flash too.
are you stock or on a 4.3 touchwiz rom?
Ok. I have replaced the wireless router...or I should say Charter did. They replaced it with the same model though...brand new. It still has the problem. I am on 4.2 btw and rooted...but no custom rom. Any other ideas.
You running a dual band router? Try only going on 2.4ghz band.
There are also some WiFi power savings settings you can turn off that should help also.
I had that same issue when i first got my phone in Oct fresh out of the box on 4.1. I did those changes and everything has been fine since

Since updating my N7100 to 4.4.2, it is not reliably switching between WiFi and mobile data when it should. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Until I updated it was always !00% reliable.
I found the new setting under the WiFi tab - 'Smart Network Switch', and this is checked.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to cure it? The phone isn't rooted and I don't want to do that.

You got to disable Smart Network Switch cause whenever mobile data is stronger than wifi signal (even, let's say for a second) it will disconnect from wifi and vice versa.

Thanks. I'll try that.
It seems that the Smart Switch isn't working as it should because sometimes when I get home I can hold the phone right up to the WiFi router and it still doesn't switch to WiFi.

Normally no need for network switch, only on special occasions when needs continuous connection and wifi isn't that strong whereas mobile is.
If you untick (disable) you will see, that coming home into reach of wifi will automatically change from mobile to wifi. :good:

Is anyone else having issues connecting to wifi? When I try to connect to wifi at my house, I get a pop-up error saying "AP currently not in use. Internet connection slow." If I click retry, it comes up again. If I click cancel, it says "Failed to obtain IP" and is not connected.
I have tried restarting my model/router with no luck. My Note 3, laptop, and other devices have no problem connecting to this wifi network...
I had a problem with wifi, but sounds different then your issue.Mine would just disable after obtaining ip.Samsung rep at best buy reflashed phone. That saved all data and apps.AND,it fixed wifi.If you can't work thru your issue,go to best buy or att store and get it reflashed.Cant hurt.
Good luck.

OK, so went to the ATT store today and they reflashed my phone. Got home just now and tried to connect to wifi, same issue
Is anyone else having this problem?
Fixed it.
SOLUTION: I changed my router encryption type from WEP to WPA and now it works no problem
Try rebooting your router, I had the same issue the first day I got mine and a reboot fixed it.

No go for me I just Got my N4 from Verizon last monday and having the same issue u had. I changed my encryption from wep to wap and still same problem. Ima go to a verizon store and see if the "reflash" the phone like some suggest here. Might help my problem
Hi all,
I also experience the same issue from time to time. I have this happen on both my home network (WPA2-Personal) and work (WPA2-Enterprise). My fix is to either reboot the phone or activate Airplane Mode for about 20 seconds and then disable Airplane Mode. After doing that, wifi picks right up for me. YMMV.
I can try to get the exact error log messages from our networking technician at work if it would be helpful to anyone.
Out of curiosity, do any of you have other peripherals connected at the time you experience the issue (Pebble Watch, etc.)?
Same issue
With my GN4, I can connect to my home WIFI no problem and my GF's WIFI no problem but when I go to my Dad's, I CANNOT connect to his WIFI (Netgear WTG624v3) but both of my sisters with a Samsung Tab 3 and Samsung S4 CAN connect to my Dad's WIFI. It's really aggravating. Basically, when I try to connect, it says "connecting" "saved" Then it says "scanning", and says "connecting" "saved" again and again ..... But never connects.
I have tried changing just about every WIFI setting on his router including resetting the router. Tried removing the encryption making an "Open" network and STILL can't connect... and tried every encryption type provided and still nothing. I set the dynamic address range from .4 to .254 (on router) so I could try connecting with a static address to 192.168.1.2 / .3 and still nothing. I tried removing my GN4 browser cache, and setting it to airplane mode(20 secs)... nothing.
I'm at a loss.. given that both of my sisters with two different devices can connect to my Dad's WIFI but I can't with my GN4? But I can connect my GN4 to other WIFI networks, no prob.
UPDATE: Next, I will try downgrading the firmware version on the router to an earlier version. Hopefully, that's the solution. I will report my findings here.
Downgrading or using an older Firmware version for this Netgear WTG624v3 router DID THE TRICK!
If anyone else is having the inability to log into a WIFI router, try installing an older router Firmware version. I got the idea from here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4564251?start=0&tstart=0
Anyone having issues with not finding their home wifi? I'm in my house and all of a sudden the wifi will disappear and can't find it either. The only solution is to restart the phone over and over again.
Hi, yes same problem. You can fix it by going into airplane mode for 2 minutes.... but still this is a very annoying problem and the nubia support recommends to wipe the phone..... did that and same issue.... dunno what to do.
Did you find a fix in the meantime?
Hmm never had that issue with mine, did you go to the wifi settings and turn on 5g? Not sure if that is the reason it never happens to me or not. I can connect to my 5g Asus router which is on the 1st floor, and get 80 Mbps up and down on the 3rd floor. Wifi calling and text work fine to atleast with t mobile, maybe try turning that on? Hmm let's see what other settings I changed, can't think of anything else. My phone is updated to the latest update.
I also contacted nubia. I have no choice but to send the phone back which sucks because it's great for gaming.

The thing is, the wifi works as long as your at home. When you leave the range of that WIFI and come back to it, it simply wont show ANY WIFI... it seems as the WIFI- Service stopped working..... only airplane mode does work.
try and reset the network setting. I read somewhere that it's to do with the saved wifi's. I didn realized but I had 20 wifi's saved that have been transfered from my previous phone. I haven't had an issues since.
