Hold down the power botton +vol. up for about 20 seconds. When the screen goes black switch holding vol. up to holding in vol. down.
You should boot into fastboot.

If you're not on 4.4.4 firmware you should update to it. It's already a well known fact that running ROMs with out dated firmware WILL result in excessively long bootup times(10mins + ) .

Did it actually start up again or just shut itself off? if so you can still just press Volume Down + Power to get into bootloader.

Once it reboots you won't really be able to get in, well I couldn't when I tried. As soon as the screen goes dark you should immediately have the volume down key pressed, I'm talking about a second at most in between.
If the phone is completely off it's easy enough to just hold volume down and power for a couple of seconds until it goes into bootloader. When you do the hard reset you have to hold the power button and slide down to volume down quickly before it boots up.
You didn't still have fastboot checked in the settings did you?

OH SH*T! I still have mine checked. It doesn't work any more for me (normal boot times), but I haven't been unchecking it when messing with stuff because I'm not realizing/ forgetting that it is on.
I should probably fix that before I get myself into trouble.:good:

I'm just curious, was your phone fully charged when you were flashing the ROM? It sounds like a battery problem, but I could be wrong.
Always make sure you have lots of battery before flashing anything. The way it won't stay on is really weird. You could try the ROM's forum. Maybe you might find an answer there. Sorry.

I am going to install a new rom, so i superwipe all the things, then when I should choose a new rom to install, I accidentially press the "reboot system". Sign,.....now the phone is bricked? I can't go into the bootloader by pressing the vol down and power.
Even I hold the power button for ten seconds, it just power off and the power on automatically and stay at the htc white screen.
what can i do?

No, hold power for 10 seconds to force a reboot. As soon as your phone powers down, press and hold vol down, keep holding and you should enter hboot. It might take a couple of attempts to get it right.

How do people not know the basics?? This is simple stuff
Cos they don't read. Although I remember when I first got my desire a couple of years ago, and rooted it, I was crapping myself that I might be killing it, esp as revolutionary and cwm didn't work with the erase size of 40000 I had on mine, (too late, flashed it) oops.. But that didn't stop me reading and searching, all the info is out there people, what ever you do has most likely been done a million times before. (and fixed).

Well mine won't turn on, battery is dead, and when I'm able to enter bootloader to check battery voltage I'm not able to charge it beyond 3543 volts or something.
Sometimes the bootloader gives weird errore like memory addresses or denied or something.
What can I do then?
The notification led blinks red sometimes, it never stays permanent red. And the sd sometimes fails as well, when I manage to enter recovery (which is not really often)

Hi, thanks for your reply. The problem actually is I cannot get into HBOOT. I've tried about 50 times, the only thing which displays is the brilliant HTC logo screen. I notice when I hold the powerbutton the softkeys are flashing 6 times before it goes black... When it goes black i'll press and HOLD the VOL DOWN key, but still no hboot

Keep pressing power button+volume down untill it gets into bootloader.
Don't let go at any point.
Just hold them pushed TOGETHER for as long as it takes. You WILL get into bootloader or else I'm afraid something is broken...

Is this problem called as 'bricked'..?? oh..come on..
So continuing from here...
I don't know what is wrong with my phone. I had cm-11-20140113-primoc-sk installed and tried installing cm-11-20131126-UNOFFICIAL-primoc back after Wiping Data, Cache, and system. I got through all the steps until reboot to flash boot.img. I rebooted and it just turned black. Nothing functioned afterward. I'm not even sure it is off because I can still see a faint backlight on. There are no lights, computer doesn't recognize it, power and volume buttons don't do anything, and I can't access HBoot or recovery. Am I bricked?
I've flashed several ROMs with this phone and this is the first time this has happened. I had more than 50% of battery when doing this.
P.S. the faint backlight is still on.

That is odd, prehaps your power button is a bit more mashed than mine. I'm guessing the battery has probably run out by now, but could you try adb or fastboot to see if the device is still recognised? From there we might be able to send it reboot commands etc

I don't think the power button is mashed up. I know the OneV tends to have a mushy power button but mine is still functioning well. Today when I pressed the power, the red led flashed several times. That means it has low battery right? I'm guessing it is off now? I'm not sure.

I flashed @Fenny's deodexed m8 stock rom. During the flash the phone rebooted to the splash screen. Now the phone will not turn off when holding the power button. I confirmed the hash sum before flashing. Flashed through TWRP 2.7.0.2. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I need to know how to turn my phone off (without adb since I'm at work). From there I can get back to recovery and restore the stock ROM.

It should happen after about 10 seconds. The reason for light source is because HTC doesn't want the phone to reboot in your pocket, etc ...

IDK that's always worked for me. Try holding the power button down harder maybe, I know it sits a little flush and you may not be pressing it down fully.
Great Success!!!
Okay. Finally got it to work. I had to hold volume up + power to get the phone to reboot. When the screen turned black I changed to the volume down while still holding the power button. Phone gives error reports when booted Help my HTC One m8 went ballistic after I tried to install lollipop. For reference I have a sprint (unconnected) Htc One m8 Harmon Karman edition with Ł launcher as a launcher. I went to settings and found an update. The update download and then installed. When the phone went to boot it booted then instead of taking me to the home screen, it took me to a white page with a loop of error reports of apps not working. I can't get into the phone at all. I tried to boot in recovery but that did nothing. Please help I'm desperate. The pictures show examples of the errors I get them for different apps and hitting buttons to send reportso does nothing but give another report. Please help fix this.

What does that mean exactly? Can you get into bootloader? Do you get a red triangle when you select recovery from bootloader?
Hold power and vol up for several seconds to force a reboot. The moment the screen goes dark to reboot, let go of those buttons and just hold vol down until the bootloader screen appears.

If you can't get into bootloader (but can force a reboot), its because you didn't do the button combo correctly. Either you started pressing vol down too late, or let go of it too early.
Bootloader will always work as long as the screen comes on.
When I power on my m8 it gets frozen on htc one screen.
when i press power+volume down it just simply power on
Please help.
Do this:
1) Hold power+vol up for a minute or so, to force a reboot
2) The moment the screen goes dark to reboot (but before the HTC logo screen appears - you actually have about 3 seconds to do this), let go of those buttons, and start holding vol down only. Don't let go until you see bootloader.
3) If you fail to get into bootloader, you probably just got the timing wrong (either started pressing vol down too late, or let go too early). Just repeat steps 1 and 2, until you get it right.
Nothing happens holding power+vol up

It would have been broken (or was malfunctioning) before. It didn't suddenly break.
If you've never had any problems with the vol rocker, its probably fine.
Try charging the phone for a few hours, then try again. Try the button sequence with the charger attached.
You can also try letting the battery run out. Then after that, charge it and try holding power+vol down.

No. There is no way to do anything, unless you can either boot to OS or bootloader.
You have to keep trying to get to bootloader, one way or another. Its really your only option.
What happens if you just hold power (for a minute or so)?
