Can anyone who already has their Note 4 check to see if Car Mode is present and functioning? This was a feature on the S5 but was disabled on the AT&T version. It should be visible in the quick settings. Thanks.
2nd this request. I would also like to know if the ibolt dock pro works like it did for the note 2 & 3

I'm looking at the AT&T Note 4 Manual provided by the Samsung website and I don't see anything that says Car mode other than the AT&T Drive Mode.
Huge disappointment, I might root my phone to get rid of the AT&T apps.

If that is true then getting root will hopefully get the car mode back.. it was able to be done on the at&t s5

Here's the download link for the manual if you want to take a look. I can't say 100% that this is the exact manual, but it is coming from the Samsung website so I assume it is.

Here it is on my TMO that I am converting over to AT&T just because of stupid things like this...

Possibly. I did it on my s5 but 2 out of the 3 vehicles I own won't play anything through the speakers unless I have Bluetooth selected as the source. I tested s voice and it would appear that it's the same situation with the note 4. Is there a root method out for our devices yet? I would have to most likely try and follow the s5's procedure and hope for the best.
All of this depends on if I even decide to keep the phone. I also have an iPhone 6 plus that I am trying to determine if I have a hardware issue or some kind of defect with it.

Car mode will do things like read incoming texts to you and let you respond by voice command. It's especially useful in Bluetooth equipped vehicles.
I can't believe that AT&T removed car mode from the Note 4, especially when they put on their phones "texting, it can wait".

The reason why they took off the Car Mode by Samsung is so that you will be forced to use their AT&T drive
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
Download the app CALLER NAME TALKER. It will announce your incoming caller or texter's name and you can also set it to read your text messages. I also downloaded the high quality american voice from Samsung, which popped up after I activated CALLER NAME TALKER. Now I'm happy again!!
I know this is an old thread. But...I DO see Car Mode in the settings on my Note 4. But, I can't get it to work. nor can I get any other one to work, at least not very well.
I may try CallerNameTalker mentioned above. If anyone else has any suggestions on sumething that is consistently successful, I'd love to hear it.

I would love to see a new OTA from Samsung, for this, and a few other reasons. I actually said "yeah!" and grinned when I read this, knowing that an OTA will be coming soon.
(i know, i know, it won't likely fix my issue, but I can hope.)

I dunno..... Im not chainfire, but Im sure that he is busy doing a ton of stuff. Updating OP's is probably last thing on his mind.
Also, the camera works on our device using this.
Works on the Sprint Galaxy Note 2
I confirmed in the original thread that it does work on my Sprint Galaxy Note 2, camera included.
Also, Chainfire has been understandably busy responding to problems, updating the app and posting some very useful articles to properly describe the exploit and patch. No doubt he does not have the bandwidth either to wade through 50+ pages to find every version of working (or not) device.

all phones with the exynos processor is affected chainfire already had a patch to block this exploit almost the same day it was discovered.
it's called exynos abuse.
Just install the app. Already rooted but it is pretty scary that you can access root with just an apk. On the bright side, those who are not rooted can now root the phone with the apk that chainfire posted and patch the exploit at the same time. There can't be a much easier way to root than this.
It's not that big of a deal. Unless your installing a bunch of different apps without seeing their permissions or not coming from a trusted developer you shouldn't have to worry about it. If your paranoid then just do not install any apps unless their from Google till Samsung patches it.

Im saw this video on how someone made it work himself, and i though i can do that too, without having wires out of the back
Im using the same method but i will be making the wires go to the side of the device (next to the battery) and make it look like the galaxy note 2 wireless charging "port"
I will be doing wires along the side of the battery (under the cover ofcourse)
(dont mind this pic,its not mine, its from google. (dafuq, nfc?))

Just a quick update, ive now had this watch on for nearly 24 hours and after heavy use its at 54% battery remaining! this is much better than what i was expecting. This included transferring 100 songs over wireless, heavy "ok google" usage, 4 miles running with the built in step counter, general messing around. love it!!
The Watch took 20 mins to charge from 54% to 100% as well!
That is excelleny
Can you check the notification for new SMS.: I just get a '1 new message' pop-up window. There does not appear to be a way to read the message details. thanks
Yep I checked it, you swipe up to read the message, then you can swipe right to left to read the message thread, then again to reply by voice or prefixed message etc. It doesnt say when the message was received though.

I was using my buddies note 3, and it was way too uncomfortable to use, and the pixel density, and speakers sucked.

HTC Hima (One M9?)
The portal has leaked images and specs. Apparently, it'll be running the Snapdragon 810 that Samsung just scrapped for the S6 in favor of it's Exynos chipset.
I've got my eye on it
Asus Zen2 looks mighty interesting.
I'm considering this for my next phone, hopefully some dev will take a shine to it and concoct something.

Agreed. Still my daily driver. Definitely love the screen size to phone size ratio..perfect! Developers are still active for this phone (Thanks!). Looking forward to the S6, but it's hard to let go of this phone!
It is the perfect phone
I completely agree. I bought the S4 in 2013 (M919) and lost it. I waited for the S5 and seeing it was crap, I bought the S4 again.
Recently I broke the screen and thought I'd check out other phones.
After filtering my constraints :
- 5 inch max cause I use the phone one handed
- Micro SD
- Physical buttons
- Removable battery
- Full HD display
GSM Arena phone finder returned just one result. The S4
Guess this phone is going to be with me for a long time.

This phone has everything you need, man. Every time I think about upgrading I find some downside that makes me remember why I shelled out so much for the S4 in the first place; this phone has top notch specs that'll last for YEARS as long as you take care of it. I still have the original battery and charger, and I've only had to change screen protectors twice in almost two years. If I were to take off the Otterbox and screen protector, you wouldn't be able to spot the difference between my used S4 and a new one right out of the box.
I'm in no rush to upgrade. I think the only reason that I have anyway is to change it up and try something new. Pound for pound the S4 still holds it's own against current flagships.

A while back, we posted an article about how to sign up to beta test Android Marshmallow on the Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5 on select carriers. If you have an AT&T Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925A), AT&T Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920A), Verizon Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925V), or Verizon Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928V), you can visit here and sign up for the official beta. The good news is that it has started seeding for the Galaxy note 5 and we have a few screenshots from one of our readers.

For at least the AT&T Galaxy Note 5, they selected only 200 participants, it is unknown if other devices got more or less at this time. Our reader was emailed with the instructions to download the Samsung app which would then install the beta to his device. The Note 5 now has build number MMB29K.N920AUCU2BPB1 and the kernel version has a build date of today, February 2nd, meaning it was probably pushed late last night Korean time. The update size for the beta was just over a gigabyte at 1355.94 MB, so it is quite hefty.
is there a way to get the update file and sideload it?
Anyway I can sign up now?
How did people sign up that sucks we missed out.

It was on Reddit thread, someone posted a link there.
Would be fantastic if someone could provide those files or instructions for installing the beta that they received from Samsung...

Just got an update for Samsung Pay that makes it "M OS compatible" so maybe this is a hint that it's right around the corner..

I've been considering it for a while.. Just can't get myself to pull the trigger on it. I love the note 5 but I also love root and vanilla android. Lately battery has kind of sucked for me too.. But that's a story for another thread haha.

I had the 6P and came back to my Note 5 in about a month. All 3 that I had bent from no extra force other than having it in my loose front pocket by itself. And I always took it out before I sat down or bent over/down.
Not only that, the screen isn't as good or bright and I didn't think the camera was as good either. And rooting is overrated in this day and age. I got bored with it quick. Yes the phone is smooth, but it lacked too many features for me.
You may like it, but proceed cautiously is my advice.
I don't miss the amount of time I wasted rooting and flashing just to achieve instability and marginal benefits.

I tend to agree, but I did like having a nandroid backup, being able to backup and restore apps simply, adaway (adguard is ok, but have to disable to join my vpn), and simple things like volume music controls.
Did Samsung enable more options on the alarm clock? Specifically if you can adjust the snooze settings other than just turn it on or off.

Sounds like a job like mine, well not so much anymore. Used to "babbysit" servers.
