[Q] KF - TWRP-External keyboard-GooManager(gapps) questions

I have some questions regarding my 1st generation Kindle Fire running Hashcode AOPSP Stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2_r1
1) TWRP: I have 2.2.2.1 installed but see that there is a newer version (2.6?) – do I really need this newer version/ is it vital or advisable to update - or can I stick to what I have?
I have GooManager installed and I have read that GM can update the TWRP for me, but have no idea how to do this (and not sure I should even try if it’s not necessary). Anyway I don’t want to be doing anything too complicated which I might mess up - my kindle works just fine.
2) External keyboard: there is another older thread on this and I posted a question but never got an answer so try here. Does Hashcode AOPSP Stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2_r1 support the use of external keyboard? Or do I need to update to Hashcode AOPSP Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 (would like to update, but it does not seem to be finished or perhaps far enough for a novice like me)?
Update on 2) : Got hold of a keyboard and tried it on my KF with Hashcode AOPSP Stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2_r1 - Result: KF shut down when i plugged keyboard in! So a keyboard does not work with 4.2.2_r1 !!!
So the question now is: Will an external keyboard work with Hashcode AOPSP Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 ????????
3) GooManager (gapps): Where can I see which Gaps I have installed? Is it here: (Build) Full_otter-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.hashcode 20130212.152604 test-keys - So if I am right, I believe I have gapps 20130212 installed – is this correct? GooManager keeps trying to download a Gaps update: 20130211. But if I go to the goo.im gapps page under (“Use this…“) Cyanogenmod CM 10.1.x / Android 4.2.2 the gapps package is: 20130812!!
Extremely confusing so which is the right one?
And GooManager does not seem to be reliable at all (and possibly even dangerous to a less experienced like me)?
And then how vital/necessary is it to have the newest gapps – (don’t really understand this gapps business)
Can anyone help with any of these questions?

Newbie question: how to put Jelly Bean on Kindle Fire HD 8.9

Hi,
I am new to Kindle. Had a Viewsonic gTablet and put on custom ROM before. But the initial read seem to suggest that the process is quite different.
Here is I can gather after the some initial reads.
1. Root the device. How to root kindle fire any version (including 8.4.6)
2. Install the 2nd boot loader. Introducing: Kindle Fire 2nd-bootloader + TWRP 2.6.3.0 for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9
3. Install a Jelly Bean ROM. Which one is the latest stable one?
Please let me know if my understanding is correct. Thanks

[Q] How to upgrade to Android4.4 an Xperia phone from 2011

I have an Xperia Ray (2011) phone with unlocked bootloader.
The phone cannot upgrade automatically as it says that Android is up to date.
I'm new to this so I would like to know the detailed steps for installing Android 4.4 manually.
Any answers appreciated.
you gotta search if there is a KitKat ROM for your phone, here in the whole XDA page, if there is a ROM available, you will find also they instructions on how to do it
Google says Android 4.4 can be installed on older phones like this one with the respective specs.
By ROM you mean kernel?
I think a standard kernel is good enough, no special one needed.
But where can I download it from?

Need Help reverting back to FireOS from CM11.

Tried searching for it but too many confusing threads. Can anyone guide to a specific thread in this regard. Currently running CM11 and got the phone this way. No idea what was the stock version running before it was switched to CM11. I found that the latest version available is Fire OS 4.6.6.1 (466001420). Can I simply install this version or not?
Thanks
