HEY GUYS,
So I am upgrading to the note 4 next week. Sending my sister my note 2 and decided to leave the wonderful Community Rom and restore it back to stock for her to receive updates and not worry about root issues. I rebooted into my philz recovery. Flashed my old MC2_STOCK_with_COUNT_RESET-20130511 zip I had on my SD card which had always worked in the past, and succeeded. Then it rebooted to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 splash screen and sat there for over 15 minutes never booting up.
Went to PC, opened Odin 1.85, and flashed several L900 Kies firmware and they failed. Finally, found one that flashed successfully, KIES_HOME_L900VPALJ1_L900SPTALJ1_265523_REV04_user_low_ship.tar. After successful flash, it auto reboots from download mode and has been stuck on the splash screen again for over 15 minutes. What do I do now? I have never had it hang up like this for this long, and had issues like these reverting to stock when I have wanted to in the past. Only thing that is different, is I have been on the 4.4.2 rom and these are probably 4.1.2 or 4.3 versions I am flashing.
Please help, I only have a limited time to fix this before I have to ship it off. Thanks guys

Have you tried to boot into recovery and wipe data and cache?

It does not boot into recovery. Only a splash screen of Samsung. Recovery does not seem to exist at this point.
I'd say start there.
Flash a custom recovery with Odin and then flash a stock rooted rom like Rwilco's mostly stock
Working after this flash
Thanks for your help, I went to this link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780984
Downloaded [LINK][ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L900 NE2 (NE2 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock) and flashed it in Odin 1.85 and it booted and is updated and everything. Finally! Thanks

try reflashing fresh stock firmware again
if it boot loops then remove ur cell phne battery and keep idle for 10-15 mins
and reboot
I got the same thing when I flashed stock in odin... go into recovery and wipe all data and cache. Worked for me a couple times.

You will need to factory wipe. Odin doesn't wipe out those partitions.
Hey guy,
I was using CleanROM for the longest time. I've actually been using it for so long I can't quite remember how I got the phone unlocked in the first place. I want to say I used a combination of the Note 2 Toolkit and CASUAL to get there. I've been trying to get back to stock and now I'm stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 boot screen. I can get into Download Mode but I can't access Recovery at all. I've been using Odin(Which is where I messed up at). Things I've tried so far:
All of these will say they pass, but when the phone reboots, it still gets stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 boot screen.
Tried flashing the VRALJ from stockroms.net
Tried flashing philz touch recovery
Tried flashing both stock firmwares from sammobile.com for the SCH-I605.
I'm currently at a loss as to what to do now.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
UPDATE: Ok, now when I try with one of the stock firmwares Odin gets to where it says Nand Write Start!! and it fails. Fails when flashing the Philz Touch Recovery as well.
UPDATE 2: Tried a different version of Odin. This time using Odin v3.09 and tried the VRALJB stock rom, it got to flashing the recovery.img then went to sboot.bin and failed.
UPDATE 3: Ok, using Odin v3.09 flashed philz touch recovery with Nand Erase All selected and T Flash selected. It went through successfully and am now able to boot to recovery. Seems that I was just using the wrong version of Odin3...I think...I hope...lol
UPDATE 4: Ok, so that didn't work. I was able to get into the stock recovery. But was unable to boot into android itself. Figured it's because there was nothing on it, attempted to flash a stock rom, and it still failed at sboot.bin. Attempted to reflash philz touch recovery, still fails. I'll keep trying different things, but I'm running out of things to try until I hit that insane moment where I try everything again expecting different results.
UPDATE 5: Ok, so I'm blind...or somehow didn't come across this thread before. But it helped me to fix the issue...so yeah. Thread link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120726

Haha, right? Thank you and got that plugged into the title.
Merry Christmas everyone. I tried to resolve this issue my self but was unable to. I had stock 4.3 rooted and flashed MOAR. MD5 matched. Everything seemed ok but when I flashed, it was stuck on "updating apps" for over 20 min. I did a battery pull. My phone started and I was able to go to TWRP recovery. I did a cache wipe and factory reset with plans of reflashing but everything was gone, including my nandroid. I tried to flash stock firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/ it said "failed". I cannot get back into TWRP. Is there any way I can restore to 4.1.2? Or 4.3? I just want to get the phone working again. Ideally I would like to get root back but my main priority is obviously just to get the phone working. Thank you.

I had a similar bad expreience with updating my rooted S3,
to recover your phone try to get md5 recovery room and install it using odin, try to get the one that called recovery (runs stock 4.0.4) then you can update by Kies to 4.3.
If stock means the Samsung update you need to flash the 4.3 firmware. If stock means the de-Knoxed version from here, I would start by flashing a new recovery image then reinstalling the de-Knoxed one.
Can you not get into any recovery at all?

When I press the volume up, home and power button it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again."
I installed the de-knoxed version..I would like to go back to the de-knoxed version if possible. Is there a way to flash new recovery image through ODIN...again, I'm not very confident in my abilities right now and don't want to flash anything to make it worse. Would it be possible to send me a link with what to flash. Thank you
Sorry I meant rom not room, but youv still can get it from the dev "room" forums. I got it from there.
sorry I cant post links here yet, i dont have the enough posts, but google "unroot sprint galaxy s3" it's one of he first links and once you get the md5 file you can use it with Odin, it's a simple process.
fixed it
Fixed it, got to keep root also. Flashed a new recovery image through ODIN (link for recovery in case anyone else needs it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38079994). Then flashed ROM. Thanks for your help guys.
I looked around but could not find my problem - I sincerely apologize if it has been asked elsewhere.
Yesterday I attempted to install the newest root66 (4.3) on my telus GS3 using odin. Everything seemed to go ok, but the phone was sitting at the samsung logo for a long while (and vibrating every 5 or 10 seconds as well). The phone went through the normal boot process after the flash, including updating the apps, but then rebooted and just sat there. Thinking something was wrong I attempted to flash the root again and had the same problem. After that I used odin to flash the stock image and waited all night and day for it and it was still on the samsung logo. Tonight I went into the stock recovery and cleared the cache and attempted to flash the root66 again. The phone seemed to go through the normal upgrade boot again (after odin said pass) with the android upgrade spinning chest thing and all that.
I can still access download mode and the stock recovery, so I don't think I am in too bad of shape - part of me thinks it is just a matter of patience, which is fine if it is, but if not, I'd like to keep working on it. Any ideas?
In summery - in case that was confusing
1) flashed root66 4.3, odin indicated success, boot after upgrade was similar to what I have seen before
2) Waited for a couple hours
3) tried root66 again, and waited
4) flashed stock, odin indicated success and waited many hours
5) cleared cache, flashed root66, currently waiting again
6) maintain access to stock recovery and download mode
I'd like to not lose everything on the phone if possible, but if I have to so be it.
Any thoughts?
odin to stock 4.3 then root your phone using CF Autoroot by Chainfire... check always the model of ur phone and the file you are downloading if it is for your phone..
Flashing stock with odin just leaves me stuck at the same Samsung screen. Pulsing Samsung and whatnot

I am flashing this for my cousin. She woke me up out my sleep because she wanted her phone upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3 or kitkat. I downloaded a 4.3 ROM and didnt flash it correctly because Wifi nor data was working. It could be because I didnt flash the OTA first and/or didnt install the devil kernel.
Anyways I was walking her through how to restore the backup I made but she went into Download mode and here is when the problems started. i told her to battery pull and to go into recovery. There was already a backup ROM on her SD card, she flashed and it failed. Had her wipe twice and it failed again. Had her wipe again and restore and it failed. After 10 minutes of it failing I had her send me the phone.
I was unable to flash any ROM so i factory reset through recovery and still nothing. I then started flashing through ODIN the latest stock, deoxed stock, the MD4, I even flashed LJ1. Some of the ROMs will fail to flash and if a ROM does flash successfully I get no further than the Galaxy Note 2 screen.
So is this an indication that the phone is bricked or am I missing a step or two to finally get this phone to finally boot all the way up?
Bump

Most likely the phone is on 4.3 bootloader which is why flashing 4.1.2 ROM via pc odin does not work.
You can either flash 4.1.x stock ROM via mobile odin pro or flash 4.3 stock ROM via pc odin.

Unable to flash stock ROM via PC odin
Hello
I am in almost the same situation as mo2002. I had original ROM that came with my note2 running android 4.3 then decided to try jedi master x2 also 4.3. After trying it out for a while I noticed poor battery performance and when phone was locked I had to press the menu button several times to see the screen. That was getting on my nerves. Yesterday my phone was booting up by itself. It did a couple times then got stuck with the samsung logo. Reboot again and again and the same stuff happened that's when I decided to flash stock rom from samsung.updates/device site using odin3 v3.09 however, I have not been successful. After it checks the md5 OK, it fails on the NAND write. Is it the case that the NAND memory is not unlocked? I am still able to boot into recovery though.
Thanks

Mines corrected itself so I can't give the exact instructions but I just kept flashing stock ROMS via odin but I used 3.07 I believe. Idk if that makes a difference but after X amount of attempts I power cycled (after it being stuck at the same galaxy note 3 screen) it booted successfully
