Running Liquid Smooth and Dirty Unicorns
Flashed Philz, Kernal, Liquid Smooth, and Dirty Unicorns, everything seems to be okay except battery/battery life and most of that I think is due to battery stats? Not sure but it's taking a while to charge and even with no usage will not last the whole day.
Bout to update my roms and work on battery, if anyone has any tips feel free to reply?

It's been a while since I replied, figured I'd say thanks and let you know that helped.
Have been using DU as my daily driver for a few months now with little to no hickups.
---------- Post added at 10:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 PM ----------
I just flashed 3.1 today with no immediately noticed problems to either the recently dirty flash updated DU or the Broken OS I'm testing.
Is there anything I should look into/test or need to know how I flashed?

Get better battery stats. I find that it is gsiff_demaon is the normal problem on aosp roms. Just rename it to .bak and it will stop. The file is in system/bin

What ROM is outstanding with battery life?

I'm currently using cm10. Not really impressed with battery, but overall is decent. I'm looking for a ROM with pretty good battery life. Any suggestions?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
There is just way too many variables to answer that question. Just keep trying roms one after another. Also expect this thread to locked down soon!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Why would this be locked? He's asking for what ROM has good battery life, not which one is best or other flameworthy question.
Anyway, I think the Kernel has as much if not more importance with battery life. I use official AOKP JB Milestone (4.1, not 4.2) with LeanKernel and I get AMAZING battery life. I noticed that LeanKernel was the factor that did this for me, so you might want to give it a shot. I don't think LeanKernel works with 4.2 yet though.
The best way is to try them yourself. Everyone uses their device differently so performance and results vary across devices. Also ignore what the guy said, this was a good question.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
For me, best battery to date has been tasks aokp with ktoonsez kernel.
Their 4.2 rom is really nice but still in the early stages so I expect the battery life to get better but their 4.1 rom was outstanding with battery.

Is LearnKernel compatible with Ktweaker and AOKP Rom?
Just installed leankernal. Let's see how battery life will go. Thanks guys.

Check out AoCP. I've gotten the best battery life out of that ROM. I think I used lean kernel with AoCP 4.4. The current version is now 4.6.
I also use juice defender and cpu sleeper to aid with general battery life.
Does anyone know how the leankernel compares with the ktoonsez kernel for battery life? I was getting great battery life with kt and cm10

I'm basically looking for a rom that can last 8 hours screen time if that's even possible. Or close to that, data always on.
8 hours screen time with data always on? On stock battery? That's a tall order. Good luck with that.

battery life depends on too many things. my daily driver is awesome but if battery life was my main concern I'd never enjoy a ROM as much
8 hours screen time doesn't seem possible in my experience on stock battery. On Carbon ROM with LeanKernel I get a good 3-4 hours screen time when I'm gone for 14-16 hours from a charger.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
haha just my way of asking If 8 hours would be possible. I think the most I got to was 4 and a half. was reading reviews before I got the phone and it said that it has 7 hour screen time. Have you tried that extended battery? I was looking at some and was gonna buy one but afraid of buying a faulty one lol.

[Q] ROM Suggestions

Now i'm a new Samsung Galaxy S III user, just switched from an iPhone 4S on 2/19/13 and currently very happy and loving it more than the iPhone!
Anyway, I got a friend with a Galaxy S III and he suggest I should flash LiquidSmooth ROM, I did and I like it but i'm looking for something a bit more......bug free. Anyone got any suggestions? Pros and Cons to ROMs?
I heard that ParanoidAndroid is good but not sure, feedback?
Thanks!
Welcome to android!
Before a mod shuts this down because these types of threads don't get to stay I will tell your best bet is to read, read some more and then try some out. There a lot of great roms but your the only one who will know if its right for you.
Good luck
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I suggest a stock type ROM. Head over to the android development thread and try a few out. These keep stock feel but little tweaks here and there. SGS3 is quite easy to root and fix mistakes. Root, flash a recovery and explore some ROMs.

Its definitely a matter of personal preference, but my opinion is task 650 AOKP. By itself its a best but coupled with ktoonz kernel you'll be showing it off. As already stated the best thing you can do is read everything not just about a ROM but also kernels and general works, hate to see devs leave because people don't read everything before questioning them to death. Good luck and Happy flashing

Hey guys.. so glad this thread is open! Did hours of reading and said eff it...I'm signing up haha
Ive been a proud gs3 ower for a while now and have tried everything from CM, Liquidsmooth, AOKP, and many others. However, I have yet to find a rom with a good battery life. Is it true that there isn't really such thing?
I'm currently running the Liquid-JB-v2.1 . Seems to be running ok with only minor bugs.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Battery life is weaker because those are the all aosp/aokp based on early stage 4.2 roms. Try a touchwiz rom until those get ironed out. I recommend intergalactic or dandroid or loserrom.

Battery drain on 4.2.2 Roms

Hey guys, I have a terrible problem here. The problem is that I got tired of Sense and I love stock android 4.2 and I just cannot use roms built on that android version because the battery drain is humongous. Using my phone just to check twitter and facebook and it goes down in 3 hours. I tried Cyannogen Mod and I'm now on Icecoldjelly both with Xm kernel and it is always the same. This is terribly annoying because the roms are perfect and so is the phone, except for that battery. Does anybody recommend I do something, are there some mods/tweaks to increase battery life? Is I cleared battery stats and performed more than 3 charge cycles, in case you ask. Thank you, hope you can help me
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
haha! and I thought I was the only one... I see people who are getting 15-18 hours on ICJ...
I also get terribly low battery backup... even though battery is calibrated.. Sync off... Auto Brightness.. etc etc...
However, on sense roms I get great battery!

I would suggest a faulty battery, I use mine for twit and fb too and a whole load of other stuff but i get a lot more than 3 hours. I am on slimbean 4.2 now but I have tried cyanogen 10.1 and icj, both of which gave me similar battery life to slim, although neither of them could equal slimbean they were not as bad as you are experiencing

The reply wasn't intended to get you to try slim, only to show that not all 4.2 roms are as heavy on battery. there are plenty of others to try, I just prefer slim
I get around this much:

Not that bad... Not good either! :/

I'd say thats about normal, but the op's 3 hours is seriously wrong. I would have to use navigation, music, facebook, twitter and XDA all at the same time to run my battery down that fast
With minimal usage I got around 5/6 hours. I'm going to try other roms and settings to see if I get this right. I'm currently on slim. I'll see how it performs tomorrow. If it goes bad then wth, I'll just go back to a Sense rom
Disable auto sync/fb location... use trickster mod and set governor to smartmax and IO scheduler to row/sio...
Cap the max frequency to 1.2 GHz... Use greenify to hibernate apps which you don;t need..
There is absolutely no lag for me... When I want to play some games I just switch to interactive or gaming governor!
Thanks everybody, I found my daily driver, today I got 13 hours with regular usage and still 25% to go, slimbean is the best. Even if it was not a recommendation to test the rom, it helped a lot

How to increase battery life on E4GT?

Hi. This may seem like a noob question, but I recently switched from Stock GB28 to PAC MAN 20.1.0 and my battery drains SUPER QUICKLY. Anyone know what I can do to save some battery life??? (I under clocked to 500, BTW)
Questions go in the QA section.
Anything under 800 mhz will normally make the device unusable. I suggest not having it that low. You an use a multitude of things. DS Battery saver and Greenify together work quite nicely.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
The two apps mentioned above plus THIS is what I use and I usually get 18-24 hours per charge unless I'm on my phone a lot. Screen on time is the biggest factor for battery life, especially if you're using DS and Greenify.
Not sure if that will work on his ROM.

Just have to delete 41kobridge out of the init.d before you flash on AOSP. It's in almost all of my AOSP ROMs. If there are problems delete dvfs.sh out of /system/bin, just backup before you do anything with it.

I think I can see why you are experiencing bad battery life. It's not your daily routine, it's your daily driver. AOSP has always had a reputation for bad battery life on the E4GT. The lightning zap kernel may change that, however I suggest a Touchwiz based ROM. The mods have become amazing, you might not miss being on PAC.

I disagree with this statement, you just gotta tweak it right... I have four AOSP ROMs located here that I have done so, I have not done PAC Man yet, but if you wanna stay on AOSP it might be something to consider. And they are proven to increase your battery life, ask anyone that had used them.

Cm 11 stable?

Hello there
I have cm 10.2. I really like the cm 11, but i dont want to install it, because it's nighlty. Does anyone know when cm11 get stable?

I flashed the nightly some weeks ago and it was good enough for me to use it.

on my E988, apart from CM11, magnetic compass is not working on other KitKat roms (Beanstalk, SlimKat etc).
and battery drains a lot faster in Beanstalk. drains about 4% per hour on standby. in CM11, the stand-by drain is just about 1% per hour. That's the difference.

The battery life on here is top notch from what I've seen on 4.4 ROMs. If you want the best battery life, the MIUI producer edition over in the general section has the best battery life I've seen on this device with it's custom kernel.
CM11 performs very very well. Every days tasks like calls, texts, lite games, web browsing, etc etc are buttery smooth at 1.2GHz which is what I use to further improve the battery life.
On another note, if you're REALLY worried about battery life, there is a thread on the 9300mAh Zero Lemon battery. I've got one and and MORE than happy with it. No matter what ROM I use, my battery life is phenomenal. Comes with a black or white TPU case.
