Has anyone had any success on rooting the 4.4.2 update? I've tried towelroot and Kingo to no avail. Any root methods I'm not aware of?

I saw that post today as well! ......Except it is total lie, in fact the download is even flagged by Chrome as being a malicious download (although I just think that is due to the nature of the program). Anywho, I just got done trying the SRS root app to no avail. I tried both the root methods available on the program and no dice. Hopefully someone makes some headway on this though, I REEEEAAALLYY want to get xposed framework installed!

I tried rolling back to 4.2.2 with download mode (home + vol down + pwr before booting ) and used Odin to load stock 4.2.2 AT&T ROM from sammobile.com and bricked the Tablet. I ended up having to take it to the Samsung desk at Best Buy where he had access to some type of proprietary Samsung software in addition to Kies and Odin which the proprietary software was the only success he had at unbricking it. I highly advise against attempting to roll back to 4.2.2 as I have read that the 4.4.2 OTA update from AT&T locked the bootloader to prevent such roll backs by bricking the device. Thanks AT&T
Is it possible to flash a custom rom like cyanogenmod to the AT&T SM-T217A with the latest OTA update?
Finally rooted SM-T217A with 4.4.2

I haven't played around with my rooted 4.4.2 SM-T217A that much yet but from what I am gathering there isn't any method to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP or any other custom bootloader so I would think we only have root access to the device and not full blown access unless there is a method to unlock the bootloader once root is achieved. I have not had my hands on any 4.2.2 SM-T217A where I hear the bootloader is not locked and unless I find a way to flash and roll back to 4.2.2 bootloader then I think this is about as custom as the 4.4.2 SM-T217A will get.

If I have to un root can someone tell me the easiest. I'm new to this.
I have the Sprint SPH-L710
What I've read is that you have to be on stock ROM doesn't matter if it's rooted/non-rooted. But my suggestion is to wait because there is no coming back to an older version once you upgraded to 4.3. (I maybe wrong on the rooted part ) But it doesn't hurt to double check the threads

I would recommend checking out "High on Android" video's at youtube, that guy got me started and I haven't looked back, he makes it easy for noobs like us.
Honestly I would go and read up on the general section. There is a ton of info over there. This has been discussed beyond end. The answer is yes you can be rooted but you have to be 100 percent stock! Meaning you have to have stock recovery and stock rom. Once you update to 4.3 OTA you will be stuck on stock for awhile! You will not be able to flash roms or kernels. PLEASE BEWARE! Cnexus has an entire thread explaining knox!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541343
I would do what is recommended and wait..it's being worked on and we will be set free of the Knox Ness monster soon enough.

Ok what i want? Root my fresh updated i747 4.3. The problem is
1- I'm brazilian and i'm not really used with the english language, even more whn it's about technical language so my apologies if there is already a thread for this or if i'm stupidly ignorant to not know how to do this.
2.I have been reading everything i could since yesterday morning so i could upgrade afeter several hours my 4.04 android to 4.3 but i was expecting to think about root after i reach the 4.3. But i didn't know about the Knox and SELinux.
3. I have read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498233 but i don't know much about kernel and modem this part I simply do wath de developers says but wintill this point i coundn't understand afeter various re-readings if i need/should downgrade to 4.0.4 and start all over again researching about how to do all this flash thing with kernel, modem and room or i can try and update via recovery and do all the steps listed on the thread.
4This far i got mey phone all stocked.....stock rom, stock recovery stock kernel and modem.
5I have experienced rooting SII lite and Galaxy 5 but never had to face a more newwer device and so complicated or without tutorials to get rooted.
6. Sorry again for whatever.......
@edit i don't care about those security features and now i have just rooted with the Knox and SELinux. giving me an error about Super User.

Also just in case what version you have like for example I have a i747UCUEMJB and the UCUEMJB is the bootloader not to throw you off. Some roms even though they say 4.3/4.4 just make sure you know what your doing in terms of the bootloader just never down grade your loaders of you updated to 4.3 it can really mess the phone up.

You would see it on the International S3 first and as always AT&T would be last. I remember having to manually update to 4.3 because the tar was out months before the OTA.
I highly doubt (still possible though) that an official lollipop would ever come to the s3. The s2 never went beyond 4.1.2 and it is only a year older than our phone.

Nonsense. If that were the case, why would CM 12.1 exist for the S3?
Yes it has 2GB on RAM. Mine came with 2GB RAM and 8GB storage.

Because it is optimized. And roms don't use as much RAM

Hahahahahaha. 2 gb ram is all a whole lot of new phones with L have on them. I had an lg l90 tyat has official l on it. Ithad "2" gb ram also. But is has a slimmer 2gb than this phone.
Android 5 (Lollypop) uses the same amount of RAM as Android 4 (Kitkat).
It's really time everyone updates to cm-12 because it is stable and has the latest security patches, unlike the officially slow options.
Read the xda wiki or ask for help.
well no source but keeping fingers crossed

If you're rooted flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 IMG with flashify app or Odin the 2.8.7.0 tar. Then flash one of enewman17's 4.4.2 stock rooted ROMs that corresponds with your baseband. You'll loose all data in the process so back it up first. Otherwise download one of his 4.4.2 ROMs & pull what apks you deleted & use a root file manager to push them back to system.

This issues has been around for awhile so i would wait to see what the developers do
I'm not rooted so I just downloaded this 53mb update and it's applying now. Actually advises that it's a security fix for Stagefright and nothing else. It has finished applying in the time I've been typing this and just rebooted, but it has to go through the app optimizing. It jumped up to 224 of 348 quick enough, but the time consuming wait for the rest of them. Tick, tock...
Downloaded and am installing now.
I installed this update did not notice anything else changed. For some reason the s6 stagefright fix was only around 50MB while the S5 was close to 300MB, and the only thing claimed to be fixed in the s5 release notes was the same thing.
Updated, and screw root. Phone good enough to not need it.

Can someone give me an fast link to the OGA G920P or G925P firmware please? Or to the OTA zip.
So that I can rip the fixed stagefright lib files from it for my ROM.
Getting 1.2gb system RAM usage after the update. Hoping it's a tiny fix, it's a relief to have 600MB more free to do what I want with, was getting 1.8/1.9GB system ram usage before update.
Will post update in a few hours to see if this is still true.

Thanks in advance!
The best/safest way to root is to flash TWRP and then install SuperSU.zip file with TWRP.
I believe, a build as old as this, kingroot or kingoroot will root it.

TWRP doesn't require an external card. You will most likely be flashing it with Odin, so you will only need the file on your cpu. Also, if you get ahold of TWRP 3.0 or newer, it will give you the option to root the device.
