[Q] Caster the screen with Chromecast ? - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Is it possible to cast the screen of the LG G Pad 8.3 on Chromecast?
It's possible with my Nexus 5 but not with my tablet (ROM Stock).
Need Custom ROM ?

No, it is available for selected hardware only. You just have to wait for Google to enable it globally.

That's what I thought.
And changing the build.prop?

Works without a hinge using MirrorEnabler

Works superb if rooted and used mirror enabler. Although I had to manually change a database value to get it to work. It does work really well though!

Did you already tested?. I will try tonight but I think this requires wifi direct, but lets see.
Requires WiFi direct and compatible, powerful enough hardware (Snapdragon S4 and beyond). That means no love for us.

WiFi Direct have not hardware limitations, it limited only by sertification of devices. And Xperia S is not sertificated only because of Sony. I currently investigating how to port and enable WiFi Direct and screen mirriring for Xperia S for month. The problem is that qualcomm has not released wifi drivers with p2p functionality for S3 processor which we have. BUT on test firmware of HTC Sensation WiFi Direct seen working, and i currently searching for files in that ROM which i must copy. If anyone could help - try to find what files, drivers, libs etc. are needed to setup this features.

I did not say WiFi Direct require compatible hardware, but that Screen Mirroring requires it

Why do you think so? If WiFi Direct have no such limitations, and Screen Mirroring which working over WiFi Direct, why it should have such limitations. It is open source technologies, but it is very strange open source - i couldn't find any sources on the web. So it's up to us to find how it work.
I investigated that there is only one device in the world wits Snapdragon S3 8260 which have WiFi Direct in official firmware - it is Asus Eee Pad MEmO 171. i have it's firmware, but it is in raw disk image formate and it didn't opening in any utility. Could someone help? link to firmware 625 Mb

Because S3 isn't powerful to run it without problems. It's like: you have an Ferrari with all of their goodies, but a VW Fox engine and put it to race against other normal Ferraris. It will go? Yes, but won't win.

Could be for numerous reasons.
1) Sky are very picky with which devices can use the app
2) Might just be down to not supporting the resolution of this device
3) Sky hate you.
4) you are rooted?
5) Sky hate you for rooting
Don't think Sky hate me....not rooted, worked ok on an Lg g2 So I guess its bloody Sky being picky !!!

The device is new, I am sure they will add support in time (but with Sky that time could be a long time!)
Sky Forum
You can try requesting the handset via this forum:
helpforum DOT sky DOT com/t5/Sky-Go-on-Android/Handset-Requests/td-p/1796026 (Can't post link properly as I'm new!)
I've also got the LG G3 and would like to get Sky Go working on it. Hopefully, the more people that request it the sooner Sky will support it.

The sad thing is, If you spoof your device to the G2, then unroot it, it works fine. Sky are just to lazy to test the device then add it to their 'white list' which is necessary for it to work officially.
Sky run their own checks that block devices they don't officially support.
The second issue is they also block root.

Maybe someone can come up with an xposed module that blocks the route check.
Someone made one to bypass the Good for Enterprise root check.

no can do, some of XDA's best minds have attempted to 'hack' the Sky Go app without success - sky have been very good with their root checking/blocking code.
Basically it all runs back to a server side check to make sure no code has been modified/bypassed etc.
In the early days of the Sky Go Android app we were able to hack it, but sky blocked that and then upped their security 10 fold and ever since we have been left rather screwed.

I haven't the much use for Skype anyway, quicker to jusy torrent the show on 4g while waiting for the train.

Root is brilliant. Greenify and xposed and titanium backup have added real value to my usage.

[Q] smart lock - trusted face

I noticed the zenfone 2 does not have this feature. Is it possible to add it?
Maybe through an xposed module. But face recognition isn't that secure anyways.

I am running fully stock, not rooted. So, xposed is not an option. I am really curious why the option is missing from the smart lock selection.

Well maybe Asus had something against faces lol
Perhaps a future update will bring it, but not for now.

My Asus memo pad 7 had it when it was running 4.4.2 kitkat, but when it was upgraded to 5.0.1 lollipop they took it out, so I doubt we'll see it on our Zenfone 2.

Yes, this is what I need. But there isn't such an option in my settings. I know in honor 7 there was an option that's getting enabled only through a trick.
Please could you send a screenshot from the screen where to enable this?
Thanks in advance

sorry but...i dont understant a word of whats written hahahaha:silly:
maybe theres some differences between Nova and Nova Plus ??
mine is with EMUI 4.1 ... does that do a difference ?
On the German devices, this Option is disabled/not supported. On the Chinese CAZC01B153 thats now on my CAN-L11 its available and works.
I thinks that get activated in one of the next Updates for the German devices.

Is MirrorLink (in-car) possible with Galaxy Note 10+ 5G?

I wondered if MirrorLink was possible with the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G?
(This isn't the same as Android Auto which almost every Android device is capable of. MirrorLink is quite an exclusive feature)
The official Mirrorlink website is very slow to update and by the time it does Note 10 will be old news. So I'd like to know if it can do it now? Can anyone confirm if it does or doesn't?
Plus points for those who've actually done it.
Thank you!!

yes ,I have a note 10+ and mirrorlink works fine

Yep. Here's a screenshot from my Note 10+
Hi, I’ve been hunting all over the web hoping to see how I can mirror any app to my cars infotainment screen with a new Note 10+5g from Verizon. I’ve been using the iPhone jailbroken for a few years now so I’m behind on Android compared to back in the day when I was deep into Android adding roms or simply rooting my Android device. If I bought this new Note 10+5g from Verizon, I am hoping to stream a movie app to the car’s screen even while the car is moving for passengers to watch. The car has CarPlay and Android Auto and the screen also has a “projection” icon because it’s a Chevy. I stumbled upon this post and you sound like you know how to do this. Can you verify how I can go forward keeping in mind I will be buying the Verizon variant of the phone? I just need to be certain this is possible or the phone won’t work for my needs. Thanks in advance for any assistance at all. Would be very grateful. Also, just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if the Verizon variant can be rooted? I’ve found no easy answer because you never know if people are talking about the Exynos version in the development posts. Thank you so much for possibly answering.
Solution
Hey folks,
I'm new. Came in via Google for this very problem.
I've read the posts but saw nowhere a solution or remedy.
If there's any info available I just got the Note10+ 5gcand I kept saying to everyone. There's gotta be a way to mirror by now.... Etc etc
Anyhow if anyone could let me know how to do this that would be great.
Thank you,
Muntsy

use android auto and open it up so you can add other apps if you don't have that type of radio

My Galaxy Note 10+ 5G used to work with mirrorlink, but when I upgraded to Androd 10, mirrorlink stopped working. Samsung were no use, saying that my car was the problem. In the end I downgraded the OS to Android 9 to get mirrorlink working again.
