I am on 4.3 Android Touchwiz, whenever I restart my phone it keeps losing root access what could be the reason? I rooted using Chainfire ODIN way.
What version of SuperSU is installed?
Try flashing 1.94 or 2.00 from the link in my signature.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
The latest version of SuperSU is 2.02. You need to open it and update the su binary and disable knox..have you done that?
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
2.01 and 2.02 have issues, especially with updating the binary. You lose root completely. Until a fix is found I don't recommend using above v2.00.

Hi doc I tried the update on my phone but the loss of su binary detection problem still happens.
I discovered the su binary is still present/installed in /system/xbin folder but is not being executed by superSU after reboot/power on. I cheackes the file permissions they are correct. Im still trying to find the problem hope to solve it soon.
Did you try v1.94 or 2.00?

Yes I did they also have the same results.
Is there a way to log the boot to see if something is happening to cause the su binary to be ignored?
if you have twrp recovery , under 'advanced' is option to copy log to SD. not sure if boot-log would be in there , but maybe worth a shot. (?).

Yeap I am having issue with this too now.. i tried 1.94 SuperSU still same . infact SuperSU 1.94 stuck on Loading forver.

Hi guys ok so im using a insecure TW kernel and no longer have any problems. This is jpeg from root checker
It shows that there is /system/bin/su simlinked to /system/xbin/su unlike the jpegs in my previous post they show only /system/xbin/su no simlink. So I have narrowed the problem down to 1. Su binary installed but incorrectly configured 2.SE enforcement denies executing SU requests during boot. 3. Busybox,su, and init/init.d configuration error or being ignored/denied by root/system requests.
Please let me know if im on the right track and any tips on making a tmobile insecure kernel instead of using the AT&T kernel I am hoping to build a rom/kernel for the sgh-t999l lte s3 thats based on the LTE firmware.
Thanks everyone.
I think I've got T999V 4.3 and 4.4.2 kernels on my computer. What do you need? 4.4.2 I'm guessing?

I just realized that you won't be able to remove those files without root. You should first check whether you have the files or not. If you don't, then I'm not sure what's going on.
If you do, you need to uncheck the box in Odin to reboot your phone when you flash the custom recovery. When the Odin flash is done, pull the battery, put it back in, then boot into recovery by holding Vol Up, Home, and Power until you see the little blue text. That should get you into custom recovery. From there you can flash su and Superuser.
At this point you have a choice. You can reboot, but it will replace your recovery with stock. You'll still have root though. You'll need to remove the files and reflash a custom root either with Odin, the dd method, or using ROM Manager or GooManager.
The other choice is to use adb while you're booted into the custom recovery and remove the files before you reboot.

Did you try to root with the toolkit then you install a custom recovery and finally you install busy box. Still with the toolkit

NVM you dont have root i misread your post....You could use odin to flash lg1 with root injected and then use rootkeeper app to preserve root then take the update to lh9 thats what i did. Gunnyman wrote a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895100

If you do flash LG1, be sure to do a factory reset in recovery before you boot to LG1 or you'll get errors from android.process.acore. If you do this with stock recovery, you'll lose all the picture, sound, and video files you have on the internal storage.

Use this guide can't fail. Remember to unchecked reboot on Odin. Or you will never have root. Cause when it reboot it reflashes stock recovery u need to flash su before you let it reboot. So after you install cwr with Odin remove battery and boot into recovery and flash su. And ur good to go.

Use motochopper, it only takes around two to three minutes total, and it leaves you with stock recovery in case you need to go back for waranty purposes, motochopper also does not trip the flash counter, or change the system binary to custom. besides that with the T999L you dont need a custom recovery as the stock recovery has adb sideload support( see Edit at the Bottom For further citation), you just wont be flashing any custom roms until we get some odin roms built, personally I wouldn't flash any custom rom until DocHoliday77 has a true stock odin built, and that won't be until we can get our hands on the stock firmware, which won't happen until the T999L gets an update or at least until sammy releases the firmware, which is pretty much the same time.
EDIT:
after modding a few system files, and getting stuck in a boot loop @ the T-Mobile splash screen, i have found that in fact you don't need a custom recovery for anything but flashing custom Roms/Kernels, the stock recovery not only supports the new Adb Sideload function, the dept of adb support seems to be full adb support all the way down to shell support as i was able to use the following to delete the modded system files and get my device back and running from the recovery menu (no options selected)
adb devices
adb shell
su
rm /system/framework/multiwindow.jar
rm /system/framework/multiwindow.odex
i was allowed to use the rm function of the shell to delete the two files i added to the system/framework folder.

Yes/no if you flash a custom rom you will have to flash a custom recovery to do so, which means you will lose your stock recovery, Docholiday77 is currently working on making all the data we pulled from my T999L compatible with odin, which once its done you won't have to worry, but if you flash custom recovery, custom rom at this stage, you will be essentially locked out of your warranty until we have everything ready for odin, also we just pulled all the info for rom development just about a week ago so I doubt anyone has really had the time, or resources to build a custom rom specifically for the T999L which means you will be flashing at the risk of paid Samsung factory repair if it soft bricks, I'm not sure but I think doc has enough on a rom now to help you out if you brick with cwm or twrp, and with the stock adb sideload support you might be able to push the stock recovery we pulled but you should definitely ask doc for specifics as to what he has to help you if something doesn't go right with a custom rom.

CM added 'asserts' to the updater script that checks what version of firmware you are running. Older firmware was becoming buggy forcing him to do this. Since the t999l is so new it just hasn't been added to be allowed.
You can edit it so it either has your build in the script, or remove the checks all together.
I can tell you how in a bit if no one else does.

Go to /system/xbin and check if you have the su binary there.

You can always pm him, but I doubt he will be able to help much more than anyone else. I'm not sure what's going on, but I don't believe it to be the ROMs fault. But it is an older ROM... What is your current base firmware/bootloader build? Open terminal emulator and enter this to find out....

Starting with the full firmware .tar.md5 file, extract with 7zip and you'll see all the different partitions that are flashed when you flash with Odin.
NON-HLOS.bin is the modem.
Tz.mbn - Trust Zone
Rpm.man - resource and power management
Sbl2&3 - secondary boot loader
Aboot.mbn - application bootloader
Boot.img - kernel
I don't need that to be done now though. I started the downloads earlier so they should be waiting for me when I get back.

You flash via custom recovery, which you'd have to flash with Odin.
A custom recovery will trip the warrant bit. There's no way to root without doing so.

Nope. If its out of warrany it doesn't matter at all. There used to be root66 firmware which didn't trip it, but the latest versions had mixed results. And the 4.4.2 builds aren't out....yet. You can wait to try that if/when they are ready, or you can root via recovery as mentioned earlier.
New root66 will be worked on, but I can't give a solid eta as I'm not the one doing the work. Not promising anything either.
