After reading up on the moto 360, I decided to trade in my 2-3 years old iPhone 4S (16GB) at a local Best Buy. Went to the store, the device was in good condition and they quoted me for $118. I then mentioned about my reward zone membership and the agent told me that I can get additional $50 bonus for my trade-in, WOOT!!!???
Total came out to be $168, and I paid < $100 for the watch...good deal on trade for an iPhone I don't use.

I didn't see what they were doing on the computer, but the process took a while. My guess is that they are checking for the ESN to make sure it's clean. Heck, they told me that the new process requires finger prints (yes, you heard it right), so I doubt that they would let you pass without checking the ESN.

I can't believe it's come to that. I would refuse to do business with them if they required my finger prints to proceed with the transaction. That is, of course, my personal opinion though.
I work at Best Buy. We don't take your finger print.
What carrier iPhone? Sprint or Verizon. I have a Sprint 4s I'm trying to sell for my better half, and it isn't worth shizz because of Sprint defying the F.C.C. and refusing to unlock them for GSM use. At this point she would be thrilled with $150 in any form...
Thought I'd ask. I had my drug dealing neighbors toss not one, but two iPhone 4 ' in my yard! I returned one after verifying that it did belong to them, but the second, found along side broken glass, a knife and beer cans, again - in my yard! - I decided would be payment for all their **** I had to deal with including a damn drive by... Not joking.

Im a tmo customer desperately trying to get rid of this g2x. Problem is tmo wants to charge me $540 for the phone, and my upgrade is nowhere near due. Is there ANY way I could somehow get this phone from tmo for the contract price ? any loop holes or something ?
any chance you can cancel your current contract? or transfer it to some body else in your family/friends perhaps?
then open a new contract new phone number, and get the SGS2
then swap the SIM card, and you are done
Not really. Otherwise everyone would do this every 6 months. Just sell the g2x and buy the gs2. You can get up to like 275 or so depending on condition. Subtract that from the retail of the gs2 and it's basically the same. Plus you can get them to split the payments up on your bill.

i was on the phone asking a rep about the split payments and she denied that they even do that. I always sells my phones on craigslist to upgrade, did it with the hero, evo, galaxy 1, g2x...but craigsloist is FLOODED with people selling the g2x i didnt post on it thinking i wouldnt be able to sell mine since there are so many postings. But thanks looks like i will have to just go the normal route. Thanks for the info.
She lied. I've done that with a bb9700,hd2 on contract,g2. They split it into 4 payments. The first you pay upfront with all sales tax included. So say 529+tax youd pay 132 or so plus the tax on 529 today. Then starting on your December bill, you'll have an extra 132 added to your bill the next 3 cycles. Essentially, your first payment delays a month of it being on your bill.
Also depends on credit I assume.

Ditto to this! I mean, the features offered on the g2x are 2nd to none, but the execution of these features are horrendous. LG beat me on that purchase, but surely lg and me will not be transacting again in the near future! I'm digging this sgs2 tho!

SGS2 cost me about $560 w/ tax, and I was able to sell ph G2X locally for $250. Took 1 hour on craigslist. So, I paid $310 for the phone, but very much worth it.

The GS3 has been out for 3 months?
So your ETF is $350. Then you pay $200 for the Note 2. Overall cost of ETF + device = $550. Then add in the hassle of having to time it in your current billing cycle and dealing with customer support, etc.
I don't know how much it'll cost outright, but it may be close to costing the same. And probably easier.
The buyout program they offered last year is over and they are not currently offering anything similar
Anyone can pay the ETF and terminate their current contract; that doesn't take a special program. But then you have to sign up for a new contract which allows you to get another phone at the subsidized price BUT the kicker is, you lose your original phone number. I followed this up extensively at one point because I was considering going this route as my current line ETF is only $50.
Now if retaining your phone number isn't important to you then this might be a good route to take.

So in nov I signed up with tmobile and got the note and a gs3 for my wife. I plan on selling the note and getting the s4 in march. I call tmobile to pay it off and they tell me I have to pay both phones off? This isn't what the agent told me when I signed up. He knew I swap phones about every 6 months. So my question is why can't I pay the note off separate? My wife never upgrades her phone plus it would lower my bill per month down. Tmobile is ending the subsidiaries anyways so I don't see what the issue is? The reason I went gsm is to be able to put any phone on the carrier as I like, such as international versions.
Talk to a different rep. Cause that rep is an asshole
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Nope just spoke to customer relations and was told it cannot be done until tmobile ends the subsidiaries in a few months. No way in hell I'm paying $700+ for both phones. Basically the rep I signed up with flat out lied to me. If I would of known this I would of just bought my note full retail. Really ticked off right now.
$720 for both phones + $600 or so for the s4 is just too much for me.
3rd damn carrier that seems to lure their customers in with lies. Who would refuse me paying off a phone today? Basically I was told their systems cannot allow only one device to be payed off until may when they change their policies. This is really going to screw over a lot of people. I just don't get it.
Can anyone explain tmobiles logic in this? I'm baffled.
I've heard that since it was Even More Plus. The credit line is for everything combined, you can't separate them out. No idea if that's the truth, but they have been consistent in telling me that. If you were lied to, that really sucks and, IMO, they should try to do something for you. No idea what, but they could offer something.
Not much help, but at least confirming what they are telling you now anyway.

Yeah I have it in writing too from the original kiosk rep. I'm really ticked as I talk to this guy all the time when I'm at the mall. Tmobile is investigating what he told me and I've notified his manger. This really screws anyone who wants to get another phone anytime before may. I just don't understand the logic. Why would they care if I decide to pay the device off? Now I'm screwed if I wanted to get the s4 in a few weeks unless I add a 3rd line.
Now I can see why so many go prepaid. To avoid all of the carrier BS. This is worse then what I dealt with on both sprint and Verizon.
There has to be a loophole for this. Any ideas guys?
It does make sense that the credit extended is put into one loan. I'm sure it makes it easier on the accounting for them....... BUT...... If that guy told you something different, I would go straight to him and have him help you get this sorted out immediately. He's the one that gave you misinformation, I would make him spend time working to correct it also.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
yeah, this really makes no sense to me why they would require this just because the phone accounts are linked? Just to be sure though, I'm going to make sure I buy my phone and my wife's phone separately.
Im told its becuase both phones were purchased together but that was becuase thats the day i switched from verizon to tmobile. The rep knew i switch devices often and told me it wouldnt be an issue. I got an email from the manager that they are investigating. If any of you bought the phones together id check on this. Im glad they are ending the pay per month on the phones BS. From now on ill pay full price.
This happened to me too. Opened a tmo business account and bought an S3 and a cheap text phone for the wife. Financed $500 between the two, and was told I could pay them off seperately. The note 2 comes out, so I go to pay the balance of the S3. I was told the same, you have to pay both off because they where contracted at ths same time. But I still had enough available credit to finance the note 2, swap the sim from the S3 in to the note 2, put the S3 on Craigslist, it sold the next day for the $400 balance I had on the note 2. Walked in to tmo the very next day and paid the note 2 off.
This is just an idea, I don't know for sure if it will work, but when I bought
my Note and my wife's phone, they told me that is no penalty if I pay
the phone(s) in advance OR if I pay more per month to shorten the pay
period of 20 months.
So, I guess you can go into the store and tell them you want to pay, let's say
$300 in the account for the phones. That will lower your montly payment, just
like you payed yours out and not "mess" with they're account number.
It's worth a try anyway....

the way tmobile does business is BS. never had this issue on sprint or verizon, i could swap phones when ever i wanted without penalties. knowing me the s4 will be announced and ill get impatient and just pay the $720 off and get the new phone lol. from now on ill always just buy my devices outright.
You could do what I did. Pay the deposit on the new phone and finance the rest, sell the old phone, then pay off the new phone.

IMHO if 'those people' don't read enough to know what to and what not to flash they deserve it. They know flashing could potentially brick their phone yet they don't care enough about their 600 dollar phones to learn a bit about what they're doing first. $#@% 'em.
But on a more touchy feely side, yes, this would be the place to put it. As a sticky up top so they have no excuse for when they do it.

How so?
Some dumb person bricks their phone flashing the wrong rom they can't get a replacement from samsung because they will see the counter was tripped and know this is why.
I guess they can try bringing back to the store... but unless it was within a small time frame (I think it's like 14 days for ATT) they will just say well ya shoulda got insurance, buddy.
And if they use insurance to get a new one that wouldn't result in paying more for phones because the insurance company makes bank off all the months people don't break their phones and by giving you refurbished ones back.
Either way it's bad. Don't do it.

If people breaking phones would end up in higher insurance we wouldn't be paying the same price we did in 2006. It would have dramatically increased. It's only 7 bucks. It's not going up because a few tards brick their phone....

Speak for yourself. In 2006 I think my insurance was $3 per month with either a $30 or $50 deductible. No carriers were locking them down back then.

Wrong. Insurance for the GS4 is $11. That's more than 50% over the $7 for the note 2 which was an increase from the $5 GS3 insurance. You lose.

Insurance is $7.79, which the full Premium Handset Protection bundle, which includes in-store warranty service (which normally has a $20 charge), is $11.99.

Think about it. What were the retail prices for phones in 2006?

The Hitachi G1000 I bought in 2004 was $650. I eventually dropped it from a moving truck and had to use insurance to replace it. I think the deductible was $30, but it did go up to $50 a year or 2 later. They sent me the PPC 6600, which was the first HTC phone released by a USA carrier, if I'm not mistaken.
The next phone I bought was the PPC 6700 (made by HTC) in 2006. It was also $650 but I got a couple hundred off for signing a 2 year contract.
We're still paying around $600 for our phones, but insurance costs a lot more than it used to. The monthly cost is a lot more, and the increase in deductible is even more drastic.

You're an idiot, and I doubt you even have a GS4. When you buy one from customer care they offer insurance and notify you of the increase.
Even k0nane just confirmed it is $11. Sorry I don't know what the cheapo plan is I have PHP.

Oh I see, you're talking about the insurance and extended warranty.
Well buddy, extended warranty is not insurance, and also not what we are talking about at all. You, sir, are the idiot. Source from T-Mobile because you'll try to make another reasoning for you to be right.
Anyways, back to the point. Let the dumbasses brick their phones if they don't read. It's going to happen, and we will not end up paying more due to a couple hundred people being stupid. If you actually believe this you obviously have no business sense and no nothing about economy. I'm done with this conversation before it just turns into a flaming thread takeover.

Let me ask you a serious question. Have you ever heard of an insurance that didn't get more expensive the more it was used?
Don't get me wrong, this phone is sexy as all hell and it's amazing to have, but PLEASE DEFINITELY GET INSURANCE, Because I know so many people who's brand new + shattered itself to pieces in more ways than one. Thanks :good:
I think I have had this phone for a month now. I do not have insurance on the phone, how would I go about getting insurance?

Where did you find all of the people with who have screens that cracked by them selves. I only counted 3 in your other thread of this forum and found 0 in all of the other edge + forums on xda including the international section. As with everything ever created on the planet their will be a certain number of defects. Some will be on public forums , some wont but it is no reason to start fear mongering.

Call t-mobile and ask them to add insurance for 8$ a month. Deductible is 175$ but that's cheaper than 900$ for a total out of pocket replacement
900 dollars? I bought a new sealed tmob s6edge plus for 580.00.

T-Mobile never asked if you want the coverage when you bought it? They tend to offer you everything they can to meet their monthly sales quotas, surprised they didn't, but if it's been 30 days like you said, it's too late now, you're SOL. Same with Square Trade, seems like 30 days is the standard to decide if you want insurance or not. You don't get forever to enroll, like a car or a house, it'd be too easy, having no insurance, break your phone, buy the insurance then. The next day, file a claim, pay the $175 deductible and wait for a refurbed one, in the mail. Essentially, scoring a $700 or more phone for just $175, never needing to pay the monthly premium and canceling the insurance after receiving the phone...
Wouldnt be realistic... The cell phone insurance industry, wouldn't be in existance if they allowed enrollment anytime or just whenever you're convenient! Its a business for profit industry, not a charitible one. ObamaPhonecares got my vote!

What?? So you never checked to find out the phones market price, prior to paying the $580? How do you usually establish an items value? Asking since the process is obviously foreign to you, how do you prevent yourself from gettin ripped off, every time you buy something or what steps do you take to inform yourself that you aren't over paying on your purchases?
Its clear you got lucky with this phone, as you're now just learning this but, much after forking over nearly 6 notes on it, I'm picturing a loose canon for some reason.. .
I wouldn't be too surprised, either, if you're in the wrong forum, this one's for the S6 Edge+ <---- (notice the "plus" sign at the end), not to be confused with the S6 Edge <---- (no plus sign)..
Differences: 1/2 inch of more screen, 1GB of RAM, 400mAh battery and about $100-150 more in retail price on the "+" model.
See history repeating itself all the time, as I'm having a strong sense of it here..
Wages on this... anyone?
Look on swappa.com . they advertise on xda for christ sake. S6 edge+ for 580.00 they have att, tmobile and sprint..protected by paypal payment system. I have bought 6 phones and never had a problem. I have been on xda for 3 yrs and have been modding phones since 2009.
Phones aren't cracking themselves. Idiots are cracking them due to user error then running amuck online with BULLCHIT stories in an attempt to justify their own mistake.

Absolutely true! I have dropped my edge+ more times than I want to admit and it has come out unscathed. Granted, I've got a Spigen case and a screen protector but it's taken some 4ft drops and survived.
Ive dropped mine a lot over the past two weeks on concrete, tile and metal. Mostly against the carpet floor. Im using a hybrid verus high pro shield case and some screen protector from dmax armor that is already coming off.
Ive read the dramatic instant shatter posts and it made me extremely paranoid. But then i fell asleep with it a few nights in a row completely pressed against it with my body and no harm or foul.
Im definately not a extra careful user but i do invest in protection and i use my phone from 0300 to 2100 and some nights later until i fall asleep.
So basically, @LiniXpir8, you are technology addict like the rest of us here? Lol.
