My phone start to feel hot with normal use all suddenly last night, when the battery dropped from 22% to 14% to 4% to complete shutdown in terms of seconds , nevertheless, I plugged it in the charger and it took a 3 and a half mighty long hours to charge, then when I turned it on, it start to feel hot , where what take most of the juice is the kernel :

Dude im also having heating and battery issue.. in the daytime the battery functions normally bt yea it gets hot.. bt in the dark night, when the phone is idle, the battery drops down by 35-40%. I think that the kernel is really a issue. Have you tried flashing the rom by htc service center?? Hope htc will give a fix on this problem.
Sent from my HTC Desire 816 dual sim using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe kernel problem try to flash other kernel or use other version of rom
I'm using stock Rom, it been only a week since I bought this phone , I (at least) for a year won't play with Rom and kernel thing so I don't avoid warranty , I tried to format the device but nothing changed

I have great battery life on stock, over a full day. And I'm using a case on my phone, but I've never felt it get hot. Maybe something wrong with your device? Contact HTC.
There are not many roms available for dual sim variants. So i have to stick to stock rom until a new rom comes (that too for dual sim variant). Till then ill contact htc for the solution.
Sent from my HTC Desire 816 dual sim using XDA Free mobile app
All working ROM's for this device work on dual sim variant.
Try to factory reset.
If it hot again contract htc.
Say you are browsing through WiFi with auto bright set on, what is the temperature after 15 minutes of use?
Mine is 38°C

living in sweden and im on comviq, so was my n900 and my mates nexus one

Hmm seems strange. Have you contacted HTC (not that they will be able to really help!) It might seem like a hassle but maybe try rooting so you can update the radio version?
yeah I will try to root my device tonight and see if that helps
will report back!

if you are going to use the latest way of doing it (via a linux live cd) you might want to start downloading it now as the servers are very slow!
too bad I am not home yet..... might aswell do it the old way then as I got all the files and so on...

I am thinking of buying the HTC Desire Z for my wife next month.
I would like to know where can I get it from for the cheapest?
I want to buy it new not used too.
I live in the U.K. and want to buy it unlocked if possible if not how to unlock.
thanks guys for

I've personally never ordered from them.
play.com is also pretty good. When I got mine, it was cheapest there.
I got mine from a HTC branded stall in a westfield shopping centre. It was run by some outfit called westcoast mobile. Handset was unlocked even though I got it on a O2 contract.

You can try eBay if you want but always buy from someone who has a high feedback I bought mine from eBay and its been working fine.
well, you'll need to get the HTC Desire Z A7272 not the 7275 or the g2. then the next thing is to check online for a store that sells it. I bought mine off ebay (a7275 though since i'm on at&t) and it seems to be working completely fine.
Thanks guys, why what's the difference between them?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
they all have different 3g radio bands. look it up. i can't remember off the top of my head. but essentially the 7272 is for european countries (supporting all the 3g bands in europe) the 7275 is for canada (and happens to work for at&t since they use the same bands) and the g2 uses tmobile's unique system (1 band for upload and 1 band for download)
A DZ for your wife? LOL its for nerdy people like us. Give her something like desire S or something.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Lol she wants the qwerty keyboard as she has a blackberry atm which is sh*t. I have desire HD and she likes it but to big for her.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Well then its cool, get it. Btw it has a very poor battery life so buy the mugen power 1800 mAh battery with it, its the same size as the original.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
How long does the battery last?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
It was 100% 6 hours ago when I charged it, after that 1 hour of calling, texting n light activities , edge continuously on, now its 47 %
It's sucks big time coz on such huge phone they put 1300 mAh battery. So we definitely need a 1800 mAh one, its the same size, not available in my country Pakistan but I have asked someone um USA to mail me, hope I get it soon :/

It usually takes about 11 hours before my phone drops down to 55% and this is with 3G runnng at all times with a bt headset and 6 apps (according to zdbox) running continuously in the background and 4 emails (3 doing 1 hr sync and 1 doing 4hr sync) as well as pulse pulling from 5 sites (engadget, kotaku, gizmodo, android central, bgr)
EDIT: oh and about an hour of talk time on the phone. all this on stock battery
I'm also using the stock battery, Idk why but I'm getting less out of it, I have completed the full charge cycles as well as battery calibration but nothin works. So I'm gettin mugen power 1800 mAh.
Sent from my HTC T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App
According to battery doctor, 14 apps r running in the background.
Sent from my HTC T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App
i suggest you bring down the number of apps running in teh background then. it seems to be an unneccessary amount of apps running unless you truly believe they're all needed...
I don't need half of them all the time, only sometimes but they auto start themselves.

Check over in the 1.29 thread. There are reports that battery life has improved.
had the very same problems with my previous white HOX. It didnt last me half a day of moderate use, the battery life was horrible. Just listening to radio with the screen turned off and juice defender on, it drained 30% battery in 15 minutes. I returned it yesterday and got myself a new grey HOX. Hopefully this one will work properly. If you experience quite extreme battery problems you really should return it and get a new one like I did because most likely its a faulty device. It is supposed to last longer than that unless you play tegra 3 games all the time.
Did u return in to htc servuce centre??? Ie did u take a doa frm htc service centre??

Just install ARHD and see the difference. It is awesome!

Do they give DOA for bad battery life or not.

Can you just post your battery stats? On my first 3 days, I had the same problem, I even felt that my phone can't even sustain my 4hours of journey on the day. But now it's standby consumption is awesome, may be several charging cycles helped the battery to settle.
We India's has to struggle with waiting to get the latest updates. So, better you unlock the device. But before that, it was too crazy in battery drain, check with HTC service center and confirm the issue. If it was really a h/w issue return the device.

1.2.9 doesn't improve battery life. Today got 9 hours before battery died, auto brightness screen on time was 3 hours 35 mins, push Gmail, push exchange, some calls, played some games. On wifi all day.
Average battery life nothing spectacular.

I have quite bad mobile data in comparison to my gf HTC desire x
And my sim screen comes on often like it stops working for a second and then starts right up
Is this a common problem?
Should I send it in repair?

Hi
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this phone a while back after flashing a new rom (mildwild I think) my phone started to shutdown at around 80 or 70%. I've tried charging it a few times but no luck so I tried my spare battery which I think worked at first, it lasted till about 20% but then it started to shutdown at 80 aswell. I gave up and got a new phone but I like to try and get this one working again. I've flashed it back to stock gb with the ruu but it's still the same I don't think it's charging the batteries fully as after only about a hour the led turns green.
Anyone have any idea's on what's up with it?
Thanks

The same thing has happened to me so basically you need a new battery because yours could be old and check if its bloated.

I was thinking about trying another battery but they aren't that cheap. It seems odd that the 2 batteries would stop working around the same time tho.
