[Q] Error executing updater binary - Sprint LG Optimus G

Just installed TWRP 2.8.0.1 and I'm unable to flash any 4.4+ ROMs. I get the error"E: error executing updater binary", then the flash fails. Is there any way to fix this?
Was trying to flash the new Dirty Unicorns ROM.

I would try a different recovery, from what I understand there are some problems with twrp 2.8 on our device. I could be wrong but the one that was posted here was closed because it was erasing the whole phone.
Try twrp 2.7 or Philz. CWM is ok, but I think Philz will restore a backup from CWM or TWRP.

TWRP unable to flash roms

I've recently attempted to flash a rom in the TWRP Recovery and im receiving an error saying "error updating binary in zip /sdcard"
Can anyone help please because i don't have a backup to go to and i'm in need for solutions
Are you running the latest version of TWRP? If not try updating to the latest version. If you are running the latest version, try Philz Touch. I had problems with TWRP but not Philz.
Another possibility could be that your ROM download is corrupt.

Need help

Hello guys, I've recently flashed TWRP recovery and tried to flash a 4.4 Kitkat rom onto my device.
I have a problem trying to install the rom. It keeps saying that there is no MD5 found.
And also could not create file for updater extract in /tmp/updater.
I've got everything that the rom requires such as the Hboot and Ext part. What's the issue here?
I've tried installing a lot of other roms but it keeps giving me this same error, I also can't flash 4ext using the flash from zip or anything. I always recieve the same error.

You could try disabling signature checking from recovery.

Unable to Flash CM.11 using TWRP (Fail error)

I tried flashing the latest snapshot, nightly and stable build of CM.11 using TWRP. I did a factory reset first then tried flashing CM.11 followed by GApps, but all I get is "Failed" in red when I try flashing the rom.
Any Ideas?
Flash Philz Touch recovery and then flash cm11.

Thx. I'll give it a go and let you know! Hope this works
Update: Sadly that too failed. The last thing it tries to do before receiving the red "failed" error is this: Updating partition details...
The error is this:
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '.sdcard/Android Roms/philz_touch_6.15.4-d2att.zip
Im going to try and put these flashable files in the root of my SD card and see if that helps.
If it fails again, find and select Copy Log to SD. Often this will give more insight into the cause.
Try flashing via Odin.

Not sure if I rooted correctly. Went through steps until I got to installing ROM.

It fails to install Rom, when I go to reboot TWRP it says Kindle doesn't have root. Is there a way to check for root in TWRP. When I go to install Cyan nightly ROM i get stuck at; detected filesystem ext4 for /............ then Error; Error executing updater binary in zip
Then I downloaded a cyan release and it fails right away with Error executing updater binary in zip
I think it has something to do with not verifying root first.
If that's the case what steps should I take to get root?

CM usually has root built in - the reason you're getting the "no root" error is likely because CM isn't flashing properly. This might be the case because your TWRP version is out of date. Download the latest TWRP zip from this thread, then flash it from TWRP, reboot back into TWRP when prompted, and then try flashing CM again.

My kindle fire refused to flash CM11 saying that it wasn't compatible with my device, but once I updated TWRP, it flashed just fine.

Cyanogenmod 12.1 Open-gapps problem (CM Recovery)

Hi,
I managed to get CM12.1 working (12.1-20160227_NIGHTLY-amami).
However I have a problem with the install of open gapps. (open_gapps-arm-5.1-stock-20160228)
I tried to install this package in CM Recovery with adb sideload.
But when the xfer is finished, I always get an error message saying I should use TWRP and something about busybox.
I tried again after a factory reset and also tried to install from external SD, but none of this works.
How can I fix this?

Don't use cm recovery. Download appropriate twrp here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/twrp-v2-8-6-0-f2fs-z1-z1c-z2-z3-z3c-t3098573 and flash with fastboot or Rashr app

So just restore factory settings and clear cache.
Then flash TWRP using fastboot (adb). [Z1 (Amami) : Compiled TWRP with f2fs by hawkeyexp http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/twrp-v2-8-6-0-f2fs-z1-z1c-z2-z3-z3c-t3098573 ]
Start TWRP and load open gapps zip?
And TWRP replaces the cyanogen recovery or what will happen?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm still new to this and don't want to mess up
Thx for the reply

No need to wipe anything. Flash twrp for Z1c via fastboot or rashr, (it will replace current recovery), then reboot into recovery and install gapps.
