Hi guys. Now I have to ask. Has anyone been experiencing weird behaviour with the touch screen when it's charging from the mains. Now the reason I ask is because I don't think it's a hardware fault for the reason my play does it too. So it would be too much of a coincidence that 2 different devices has the same problem.
I think it is to do with the firmware. But not entirely sure if I'm right. This is why I ask you guys to help me solve this little problem. If it is then I can look at the kernel and see if it's to do too high or too low voltages or if it's something else. You see. My play does it as well now they are both on DooMKernel and are bootloader unlocked. The play is test point way, and the arc s is the official way.
Now I will tell you exactly my issues and I want you guys if you have them and which ones happen most frequently. So.... When I plug the device into the main charger adapter I have the following issues.
Based on a scale of 1-5
1 being not so bad hardly ever
3 sometime
5 irritating and all the time
Trying to type and it will type a letter at the other end of the keyboard = 4
Playing games the controls spaz out on me = 5
Moving from side to side on the home screen or app drawer doesn't switch = 2
Clicking a widget at the top of the screen but the bottom one is activated = 1
Trying to open an app but have to click it 6-7 times before opening = 5
Typing completely spaz's out and typing is impossible = 2
And can't think of any more but if I do I will update op. Please tell me your faults. Now it only happens when mains charger is connected. Not USB or headphones or unplugged all together. Only mains charger. It's ok sometimes but then other times it can be really annoying. If it's happening it stops as soon as I remove the mains charger. Also I should add I'm on my own built stock Rom with DooMKernel v12 rooted BootLoader unlock official (arc s) O.C. to 1.6Ghz from 1.4Ghz. (Don't want to kill my CPU ).
So. Guys N Girls. Please post your knicky knacky problems here so to see if there is a solution we can all work together to fix these.
Regards

i had that aswell but when i updated to 2.3.4 it somehow disappeared. that doesnt really help but i just wanted to share my experience.
Sometimes after flashing a rom I get those issues, most often it seems like it registers a touch constantly e.g. On the dialler icon, or other times it constantly scrolls left. Never happened any other time though. There was an intermittent issue with the x10 like that though when charging.

No thats good. It shows it is fw related. If you had it on 2.3.3 then it might still be there for some on 2.3.4. Thanks

I have this problem too. 2.3.4 on .42 build.
When typing, the keyboard gets crazy. And when I hold the delete button, more letters are spawning.
I just leave the phone, because its annoying, 2-2.5 hours charging is not that long for me.
It happens on stock kernel. Im using doomkernel now and its still there.

Oh good for you
Still a problem to me, though.
Im on 2.3.4 .283 build before updating to .42 build.
Just wondering why it is still happening when others on .42 build have no issues.
Im using the supplied charger of the arc, not my x10's charger. Sigh.

That's the same as me. I was originally on customized .266 fw but now on .42 using my normal charger. And the satio business. Yes that explains my Mrs satio going all weird then. But if you guys can say if your bootloader unlocked or locked and how you unlocked it.
E.G. Fw .42 unlocked bootloader test point way or official way. Using original charger.

I have had my Galaxy Nexus for a cupple of months now and I noticed that it get so ****ing HOT. I can feel that it burns a little bit in my pocket when the phone is there. The strange thing is that it gets this hot only when I am not connected to wifi or are at a place where the 3g connextion isn't that good, on the buss for example. So what do you guys think that I shuld do? Can I even return it now?
Thanks for answers

Are you going to try and return it?
Also could be the kernel i have the same problem though
The only time I have noticed my phone getting very hot is when I stream music or use Wifi-tether.
Mine gets very hot only when I'm downloading torrents and don't have a wifi connection.
What baseband are you on? Was trying to sort out my phones heat and accompanying drain for ages! Exactly the same symptoms (only when using 3g, particularly with poor signal.) . Turns out my issue was baseband. Switched from kk6 to kl1 and so much better. Might be worth experimenting.

Also it would only get hot like that is data connection is consistently working. You might want to also check if there are apps that are constantly connecting in the background that you don't really need.

Well yes I have apps that requires data connection like twitter but I think a Smart phone like Galaxy Nexus should be able to handle that without getting super hot.

Yeah, I'd definately give it a shot. I'm in UK and KL1 seems pretty good to me. Tried quite a few and ALL were better than kk6! Like a completely different phone after!

It was actually my 2nd replacement. My first issue was with the phone bootlooping (not related to ROMs) after about 3 months after purchase (only rooted). It was that replacement when the radios sucked. Phone was always hot and it ate through a full charge in about 4 hours. The phone was going into a deep sleep when inactive (verified with CPUSpy) and the Phone was eating the wakelock (BetterBatteryStats) as it kept looking for a signal. Didn't matter which radios I used (4.0.2 or 4.0.4) the results were the same.
Turned that phone in stating just the phone was eating the battery looking for a signal (battery showed red for phone signal) and they sent another replacement. This one is ok (running Gummy 1.0.1 with 4.0.4 radios).
I can vouch for this. I usually have my wifi on at work and at home with no heat issues at all. But the last two nights I was at chili's which had no wifi so I turned my 3g on and within 10 mins of super slow browsing my phone was getting ridiculously hot. I read on another thread that if the 3g signal is low or weak then it will continuously ping the server which causes something inside to heat up very quickly whether its the radio or cpu. This is definitely an issue but I'm not sure if its fixable with a new kernel or radio flash.

Hello.
For several days I have exactly the same problem.
Since I install AOKP milestone 5 and franco.kernel milestone 3, my phone started strongly hot.
Temperatures can reach 66 degrees, and the rear cover gets really hot.
Is it a hardware defect or problem is in the settings or Rom/kernel?

I know this is probably crazy sounding to some but I just got my Xperia ZL c6506 in the mail yesterday but haven't unboxed it because I read several threads the day before about it having battery issues and not coming back on....At first I thought it was a small issue but apparently there are several of these phones that have had this issue. Really, my review on 7 months usage. Battery good, for a 5 incher phone totally depends on your usage( working days i get 2 days) weekends i have to charge at least twice a day. some heating issues( which is found in most of the devices),
Some Official Issues
IR blaster Manual function doesnt really work ( I have this, officially they don even know whats the problem with it)
Constant Mic issues, and ear piece issue (during Call) (I have mic issue)
Screen flickering (Fixed in update) but not for all.
Camera Black Spots (Again not For All)
And Right now my phone is under repair for Mic and IR Issue.
These are only negatives, now decide yourselves

Thank you, your input is very helpful. I've read about those issues also. This phone seems to have more bugs than the original XZ.
I sure hate to get rid of it...its such a pretty phone and well engineered. All the bugs seem to be from manufacturing, that would be quality control on the companies I guess. Sony should have done better with this being the so called successor to the Z.

Well i can say my xperia ZL C6502 dont have any of does issues mentioned. no flickering, IR blaster work perfect, no black pixels on camera, great battery, mic, speaker and earpiece are working perfect. and not heating issues also. i just really love it.
I can confirm what the poster above me said. Back when I had stock rom installed, I could use IR blaster on different devices and even let it learn new commands, no single problem.
And the heating issue some are facing, it's due to the poor coded rom... If you install CM10.2 it takes your phone way longer to heat up.

ZL C6503 here.
On .423 stock rom (rooted) everything worked fine, no flickering, no fc's and nice camera quality.
Battery drain wasn't that high neither.
A few days ago I updated to .67 stock rom (also rooted, no other mods installed), suddenly the battery drain was crazy high, even with stamina mode enabled.
I think the problem is not on hardware side, its the poor coded rom. Most problems are software related (at least for me). Some updates seem to behave more like downgrades... For now the most stable rom was .423.
If you don't mind unlocking your bootloader (make TA backup first!), PAC rom should be the best option. It's stable as rock, gives you Android 4.3 features and the battery seems to live longer than on any stock rom.
And for the heating issue: modern 4-core-1080p-devices always struggle with heat to some extent. Depends on screen brightness and the software and games you're running.
Overall the ZL is the best phone I've ever had. It's fast, it's 'small' and packs all the goodies you like
I like the 5 incher compact size of the Xperia ZL. i believe it is the smallest available today with the thin vessel it really looks very sleek. Well that's me, form and function, it completely covers both.
I bought a 6506 - primarily because it was available for a good price...
Performance seems pretty reasonable on a "quasi" stock rom... it does heat up for me when I'm charging it and doing something - like right now I'm making a backup... that seems to heat up pretty well.
Battery drain doesn't seem too bad...
LTE performance is pretty decent... download speeds aren't terribly high in my area (range from ~ 20mb/s to ~ 26mb/s... but uploads range from ~ 6mb/s to 14mb/s... that's a significant increase from what I was getting before.
I'm unsure if I'll keep this for very long or not... I've already created a TA backup... and I'm seriously considering testing cm10.2 or some other rom...
I've had my C6506 for over half a year now, it was in perfect condition out of the box and everything worked great. LTE was nice and fast depending on coverage.
Currently using Omni ROM 4.4, it's IMO the best ROM for the phone right now, the performance is absolutely great, it feels almost like a new phone again. Everything is snappy which was an issue I had with other 4.3 based roms, they just seemed to have little pockets of lag here and there that while they were easy to ignore at the time, once I switched to 4.4 it definitely became noticeably better.
Google implemented IR support so hopefully we'll see that put to use soon for AOSP roms.
Battery life has been pretty good, I'm able to average 10-16 hours during a regular work day depending on usage, if I'm at home using only the wifi I can easily get atleast 20 hours.
I've found the phone only heats up during a few scenarios: Charging the battery, browsing the web at max brightness for an extended period of time(30+ minutes), watching videos or playing a game, and even then, the phone never gets to unbearable heat.
I would highly recommend switching to Omni ROM 4.4, but whether or not the Sony exclusive stuff is worthwhile is up to you.
For me the Sony stuff isn't worthwhile because when I first got my phone backing up the TA partition wasn't widespread knowledge, so I'll never get the DRM locked stuff again.

No clue on that one...
I know they had some serious issues there for a while...
So I've this Z1 Compact and I charged it to 100% when i got home (the first charge) since its Li-ion and cause I've read everywhere that you don't need to keep it plugged in for 6hrs straight I din't let it.
The next day morning itself I found Kitkat update and updated. But it seems the battery drain is far more on Kitkat than on jellybean as per reports from a whole lot of people who get upto 7hrs screen on time or more on Jellbean and I manage barely 4-5hrs max even on wifi.
Kitkat was supposed to have better battery life, as is the case with most other phones and that's why I din't give it a second thought and updated, now I'm thinking of rotting and flashing back Jellybean stock rom, what do you guys think?
And from the last 2 days, camera app is also behaving a bit odd, in manual mode specially, its hanging when i click a photo and the photo doesnt get saved, to avoid a reboot i just lock screen and turn on.
So any suggestions?

Aha I'm trying to get the stuff but net is horrible
Sent from my Z1 compact
I know one of the positives is now you can get the bootloader unlocked
But umm does it still have a speakerphone issue? And did it lose some GSM frequencies or something for tmobile/att? And as I understand it.. it was last I heard unflashable for page plus/verizon? Or is that changed obviously cause of bootloader unlock?

My speaker makes a popping noise for pretty much everything I do, though a bunch of people have reported that as well I think.
My battery has gone to hell. With almost everything Greenifyed, SetCPU underclocking to 594 MHz, I'm still losing about 5% an hour. When I turn Location and Google Now off, it's about the same, so I've just been leaving them on. I have a 5000 mAh batter pack that I carry everywhere with me now.

The popping noise used to not occur on my phone, but lately I've been hearing it now and then.
I'll second the mention of worse battery life (although it was also not-so-great on Jellybean). I haven't gone quite as far as vjaamm has, but I've tried to maintain a decent balance of apps and battery life and still can't push a full day. The phone goes from full to 20% in about 11 hours, with 80 minutes of having the screen on.
Cyanogenmod definitely does better on battery life, but the current nightlies still have some issues to sort out (broken Bluetooth audio, spotty Wi-Fi for some, weird speakerphone issue, unknown "My Number" for some and the consequential inability to send MMSes)
Everything is working perfectly fine for me on KitKat. I keep reading about others having worse battery life, but mine seems to be the same. It's not better or worse. I don't have any popping noises, random reboots or heat issues.

Did you installed Kitkat via RSD or OTA?? because the ota failed to me, and i installed KK from a zip that i found here
This morning, I was listening to come music on my commute to work. It's about an hour and 15 minutes. My battery was done to 83%. I wasn't playing any games, not looking online or texting. It's kinda crazy to drop that fast just from MP3's. It never did that on Jellybean.
I wasn't streaming them. I was using PowerAMP and just using songs on my SD Card.
I bet the phone just didn't like the music I was listening to. lol

At first, I used the soak test leak and then when the official sbf came out I flashed that with RSD.

did you notice a bug when you enter to the storage option in settings, when the available space is loaded, the settings app gets a FC??

There is no possibility to switch mode nv_only.

In my case, at least, your screenshots make the difference clear - your phone is barely awake when the screen is off; mine is nearly always awake, even with the screen and Wi-Fi off.

BL unlocked&rooted
KK installed using official file via RSD
Kitkat was working fine, and everything seemed to work as expected until recently when it started overheating, running the battery down really fast and then shutting off. When this behavior starts, you can't charge it from a car charger, a PC USB port, a portable battery pack and sometimes not even the official Verizon charger that came with the phone. All of this behavior started after KitKat. My daughter gave me her Razr M to use which still has JB on it, and I won't be upgrading it to KitKat. I don't think the M is quite up to Kitkat, or KitKat isn't optimized properly for the M. Cyanogenmod 11 runs much better, even with the few bugs it has.

i did a RSD now the unlock delay disappeared completely, but i still have the FC on storage option and i have to check if my battery life is improved
My wifes razr M is really starting to piss her off since the update. Reboots all throughout the day. SOD's (screen of death), and just general stupid behavior. Before I know it she'll be wanting a iphone or something.

I remember something like that happening when I had one of the verizon apps disabled. As soon as it was enabled again, the FC stopped happening. That was on Jellbean though.
I don't remember what the app is though. Sorry.
