I was trying to change the startup/splash screens on my Samsung i760 with WM6. I found the file VerizonStartupAni.gif which is basicly an animated verizon logo that appears before the windows mobile splashscreen. I tried changing it to another animated gif but after some poking around its attributes are read only/hidden/system/in ROM. Using total Commander I tried to change these settings but they just reset right after. Is there anyway to disable the system from changing it back to default? I tried to replace it with the new file but keep getting the same write protected error, even if i name the new file with the same name. Perhaps there is a way to unlock the (in ROM) box. It appears in gray and doesn't allow me to alter it. Any help and suggestions would be awesome. Played around with it for 2 hours, even poked around regedit for anything useful with no luck. Maybe I missed something.
Try renaming the original file,
then copying the new file to the same location with the same name.
I made some custom animations and sounds that may work on your device. I configured them for the kaiser but the files should be in the same place.
Try the link in my signature and install the cab.
Okay, so recently I got a wild hair to try compiling CM on my MBP, and proceeded to pull and install all of the various items described by the CM wiki here:
http://wiki.cyanogen...dible_(Mac)
I realize that it says the wiki hasn't been tested, and that it's for CM6 and OSX 10.6.5, but I figured / hoped that not too much had changed... which is apparently wrong. So here's what happens: I've got everything installed correctly as far as I can tell- Java for Mac update 4 (most current), the most current MacPorts (1.9.2), I've built a little disc image workspace (15gb, as suggested by the wiki). I've pulled down the repo, ADB'd the proprietary files from the Inc, etc. etc., all with success (i.e. no error messages and it looks clean).
Everything LOOKS okay, right? I should be able to just build this puppy and keep it movin', right? Wrong.
I follow all of the wiki instructions *exactly*, the build runs for about 20+ minutes, gives me an assertion error, and then returns me to command line (no .zip file created). No other errors anywhere that I can see- lots and lots of warnings (is that normal?) but no ERRORs. So, I figure maybe I'll try these boards and see if someone with more experience in this area has any suggestions. I briefly consulted Slayher about it and he was saying that he remembers something about Macs and "elf.h" not playing nice with Linux kernels... but things I've found by Googling say that those issues SHOULD be corrected by the most recent MacPorts.
So, again, I've followed the wiki instructions to a "T"... Twice, if you can believe that- I thought maybe I'd done something wrong the first time so I trashed my workspace and started over from scratch. Same result, the compile runs, looks the same, and then there's no "finishing message" or .zip in the /inc folder. Anyway, here is a link to the pastebin of the compile, if anyone wanted to take a look. Directly after the last line that is posted to this pastebin, it returned me to command line- I just didn't post my command line for privacy's sake. If you look at this link, line 2496 (and those above and below it) look to be of particular interest, but what do I know...

Anyone have any thoughts on compiling CM7 with a Mac running 10.6.6/7? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm working on getting access to an Ubuntu laptop, but again I'd really like to be able to do this on my MBP if I can.
Thanks for reading.

**EDIT: I've tried looking for help on this, including (as I mentioned) some pretty learned people (Slayher, CUViper, etc.) but I don't want to continually bug them... and my google / XDA searches haven't come up with anything so far. Again, any help would be appreciated... there's gotta be someone out there compiling CM7 on a Mac, right? Maybe?
So I've been trying for the past few hours but I just can't seem to get things right.
Pretty much I've followed this guide:
remove *. I don't qualify to post links
h*ttp://*w*ww.*incredibleforum.*com/forum/htc-incredible-themes/6020-%5Btutorial%5D-how-make-themes.*h*tml
And all I wanted to do just to see if I was editing the right file or doing things correctly to change the status bar background to something extremely noticeable (red) even though it isnt attractive, for testing purposes.
I edited the following files and have had 0 success:
status_bar_background.png
status_bar_close_on_cust.9.png
status_bar_header_background.9png *this is what I thought was the only file I needed to change*
statusbar_background.9.png
So my questions are:
1. Is this tutorials a good tutorial to follow?
2. Which file(s) will simply change the status bar?
before people point me into other directions, I have been searching this and many other forums for the answer and I can't seem to find anything and yes I've used the "search" feature of the forum.
I have also downloaded numerous themes created by other users and tried to look in the framework/res/drawable-hdpi and I just can't seem to figure it out. I've actually changed files from other themes and tried to load the update.zip, everything goes well but nothing is changed.
Other than that thank you in advance! any help is much appreciated.
After more tampering of basically trial and error.. The only things I can seem to edit are the actual notification bar icons. I've tried changing other elements associated with status_*.png and no go. Anyone have any suggestions?
Sorry for all these but I really need help with this..
I ported sense 4.1 Lite from the Desire X (1.18.707.3, CID HTC_044) with base as hTC Asia HK 2.24.708.1. It boots and I'm able to do set up, but once I finish set up, when it tries to load Rosie (I think) it freezes and reboots. Then it reaches lockscreen after rebooting and freezes again, then reboots again. Can anyone help me? It's really driving me nuts T.T. Attatched logcat, from after it boots after fresh install.
most likely not very helpful. but when i was converting blue sense by shub and myonev 3.5 to cdma..any time i tried to use an incompatible skin it froze the launcher and caused the device to reboot directly after setup had finished. also it did the same thing when i tried a rosie that was not compatible with the build. even though your issues will not be exactly like mine..i say check that the rosie app is not corrupted some how and that the skins are all proper for that build. either will cause a nasty freeze and crash.

Ah okay, thanks. It did say something about framework..
i did notice in your logcat a wallpaper error. believe it or not, something as simple as not being able to locate the settings for the wallpaper will cause rosie to freeze. the minor things like that caused me all sorts of headaches.

Do you know how to fix the wallpaper error by any chance? XD
there is a lot of issues happening according to the logcat(but that's because you havent debugged fully yet) as for the wallpaper issue i want to look at the logcat again on my pc,trying to scan it on my one v is proving difficult. it appeared to be two issues, one with the idlescreen wallpaper settings and i thought i saw a mention of wallpaper issues related to a missing xml file.

Yeah I did the logcat after boot.. and it cuts off when I try to copy it =/
two issues with wallpaper one is just the idlescreen wallpaper related to the com.htc.album app :
W/PackageManager( 1635): Unknown permission com.htc.idlescreen.permission.WALLPAPER in package com.htc.album
and this is the one i think could be an issue..among other things im probably not the person to get help from on..
I/SystemServer( 1635): Wallpaper Service
W/WallpaperService( 1635): failed parsing /data/system/wallpaper_info.xml java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/system/wallpaper_info.xml: open failed: ENOENT (No such file or directory)
i suggest adding this file from a working sense lite rom from another developer(not to kang it from them of course but to test with and then if it is the issue create your own wallpaper_info.xml) and then try to boot back up. hope it helps.

Okay.
I got a full boot logcat now. No SIM or SD card inserted, and it's after set up.
I know the wallpaper isn't the issue though..
The wallpaper appears on lockscreen and is visible while the Rosie is attempted to be loaded after set up.
Problem is officially the Rosie.. if it's removed and replaced with Trebuchet it doesn't freeze on boot. >.>
Can anyone help me with this????

Ok so I have a problem, I would think most users have this too: The max volume level being too low. So I went ahead to search google for help, and downloaded "Ultra volume mod" now what I'm supposed to do is to overwrite the "default_gain.config" but when I do, it says permission denied. So I tried another method, manually editing the code. Now it justs says that an error occured when I try to save it. I did a little digging on the internet, and found out that my system is apparently read-only, how do I change that? Oh yeah, I'm currently using ES File Explorer, most people said theres a button to mount something but I can't find the button, maybe thats the fix to it? I have the latest updated version of the root explorer and I still cant find the mount button.
Well, while you're here can you help me with another one? On game hacking apps such as GameCIH or GameGuardian, either right after I grant root permission, it says "error: root denied" or it says nothing and when I try to change the code, nothing happens. Thanks for helping.
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-17005
Root: Yes
OS: Android Jellybean 4.3, Stock.
Any other info thats needed? Please say so, I will do my best to provide them. And please don't post complicated stuff, the most I can do is read simple codes and edit them, such as the volume one. I cant decode, read complex codes or create codes, if theres anything complicated, please try your best to explain how to do it. Thank you in advance for your help.

Open ES file explorer hit menu button ,scroll down, check mark root explorer ,slider will turn blue, then click extreme left of root explorer you'll get a pop up with few options, click on Mount R/W then another pop up comes up and you'll see RO and RW columns, and 4 rows of options.Select the RW column for each of the row options. That would mount your system to read and write files just like you are doing right now.Once you change your default_gain.conf it will ask you to replace it with existing one (you should make a back up of your original one on the sd card) then replace it,long press on the new file click on MORE at the bottom right then Properties then you'll see permissions as RWX-RWX-RWX- and Change next to it.click on change and you'll see 3 rows and 3 columns make it read as RW-R-R basically selecting first 2 columns for first option and only the first option for 2nd and 3rd row.Click ok,exit the es file explorer and reboot your phone. I am attaching images below so you can get visual help as well (my options differ a bit under es file explorer since im not running TW ROM but concept is same
Note: Root is must (I see you've mentioned you are rooted)
Thank you so much for the help, it worked perfectly, now my volume is just as its supposed to be. Thank you for your help, now i just need someone to answer my second question.
2nd one sounds like an app issue now you have confirmed it's not a root issue. Probably don't work on 4.3. Think I remember seeing groans from game cheaters about apps not being supported.
Oh okay... well, i tried out the mod, forgot that 1db more is 3 times a loud as the bd before. Almost busted my cheapass earphones. Also the static noise you hear in idk, clash of clans during start up increased by at least 5 times. Switching back, luckily i took your advice on making a backup. Thanks guys, really helped me. In the shortest time of any other forum too.

Ya many of us eat , breathe and sleep on xda and love to help out people cause we were also once in your shoes so I know how it feels when something doesn't work right ,the anxiety levels sky rocket at once and panick sets in.
Edit: You might want to quote people when responding to someone in particular so he/she gets notified otherwise they might not check back on the thread and your future questions might be left unanswered.Just a suggestion
Well if its just thanks i think they would like it if they didnt get spammed on email. Anyway i fixed the static problem, seems like the old speakerboost app i tried but did not delete was jealous of the mod, uninstalled and mod works like a charm.
