So issues on random reboots after update are gone, no more reboots. However, whenever my device get into sleep mode, after a couple of minutes, lets say 1-2minutes, when I try to turn it on, it doesn't respond. I have to hold on to the power button for several seconds, then it will boot. It seems that an application freezes while the device is put to sleep. Any ideas? I'm coming from stock firmware.
By the way, I downgraded from BNG6 to BNE4,
Reboot into safe mode. Try to replicate the issue. If it doesn't happen then it's a poorly coded app. If it it still happens reflash rom.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if my phone is dead. It was running fine this morning, Task & Ktoonsez' AOKP with Ktoonsez kernel. However, I tried to unlock it a little while ago and it wouldn't go on. It boots to the splash screen, both normally and going into recovery, but it doesn't last long enough to go into recovery or boot normally. I try to boot into download mode and it boots, but the phone turns off after a few seconds.
I tried to flash back to stock in Odin, but the phone doesn't stay in download mode long enough for the flash to finish.
I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Pretty sure if it was bricked it wouldn't boot into download mode at all. It sounds like it is losing power or something. The only thing I can think of is maybe your battery is bad. Download mode can run off of USB power if you remove the battery after booting into it. Maybe plug your phone in and boot into download mode, then take your battery out before it shuts off and see if it stays on.

No dice. It just did the same thing it's been doing. I went into download, popped the battery, it stayed in download for a few seconds, and then powered off.
Could it be a faulty power button? The phone is constantly vibrating by itself and if the power button was messed up it could be causing the phone to leave download mode.

As far as I can tell pressing or holding the power button in download mode will only restart it, but won't shut it off. Also it takes about 10 seconds. I don't think it's your power button.

Ah, okay.
In that case, though, I have no clue what's causing the problem here. At this point the only thing I can do is enter download mode for a few seconds, but I can't get it to be enough time to flash a ROM in Odin.

Might be a dumb question... Is your battery charged? I'd plug it in for a while off and see if the battery logo comes up and than try putting it in recovery or download.

I tried that too. It's been plugged in for a while and the same thing happens. It just stays in download mode for a few seconds and then turns off. Also, I tried flashing back to stock in Odin but it failed because the phone turned off before the flash could finish. Now the phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select Recovery mode in Kies and try again."
So it's basically stuck in download mode cause of a corrupted flash. If I could get the phone to stay in download mode, I could flash it back to stock with Odin, but it's not giving me enough time at this point.
I'm running into the same problem currently, I was wondering if you were able to find a solution. Same ROM same Kernel. I've been using my current version of the ROM since October and haven't flashed anything recently, It just died on me last nigth and now I'm experiencing what you are as well. I was able to turn on the phone somehow last night but it stayed on for couple of mins and turned off again. At the time I had 60% charge.
Thanks
Unfortunately not. Sent my phone back to AT&T and they honored the warranty (despite it being very clear that I was rooted and on custom software).

Thanks. I got the phone when it launched so it's been over a year hence I'm well over the one year manufacturer warranty. Doubt they'll honor it for me =/.
Bad news, It's not about software, it's a hardware issue.
I had that issue with a Sprint S3,
The power button switch is stuck pressed all the time, you can try to hit it a little and maybe it pops out but the issue is gonna still there.
If you remove and insert the battery does it vibrates and tries to turn on without pressing the power button?

yup I just realized it was the power button issue. I managed to fix the problem[kind of], i kept trying to get into download mode while connected to AC Adapter with official charging cables. And it stayed in download mode long enough for me to go back to stock ROM. I'm just trying to avoid hitting the power button as much as possible because every time I do something goes crazy and phone turns off.
I'm gonna try and go to AT&T store tomorrow to see if they can do anything about this.
Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.
You're welcome. Good luck dude

I have the same problem. I've tried to install quickly the twrp. But is not time enough
My problem was the battery. After charge a lot, all thing works fine.
I wasn't sure if I need to add reply to one of the topic or have similar topics. So I am creating new thread.
Hello,I have wind S3 T999V.
Before, the phone did not reboot constantly. It is just few days ago, the phone is reboot constantly.
There is enough battery and I did not click on power button to turned off the phone.
Sometimes, if I am in browsing or open the app, it sometimes turned itself off. Also, sometimes, when I click the power button, the menu interfaces for turn off, reboot come out several times and go turned off itself instantly. Then when I need to turned on again, it reboots several times stuck in boot menu and the phone is on.
So, what I did is since this is rooted phone, I backup my rom, clear cache/data, and install 4.3 Touchwiz StockMod custom rom with 4.3 modems. At first, I thought the problem has solved. After restore apps and used for few hours, the phone now has same problem again. At this points, I am thinking it may be phone itself has problem.
What steps should I need to try out?
Please do Factory Reset. Do Not restore any apps or install any either. See if the problem repeats.
I tried leave my phone with factory reset and no apps for overnight. Also, I am in safe mode for the phone.
Actually, with no apps and factory reset, I think it does randomly shut down as well.
However, as I play with power button, sometimes, the screen does not shut down and turned on twice or sometimes, power options prompt come out.
Your Power button is likely defective or broken. I suggest have it looked at in a service center.
I have this very weird behavior, maybe someone could give me some advice
when i turn off the device (or try to reboot it), either by the physical button, or with the Terminal Emulator commnad, it shuts the screen off, but stays in some mysterious state that do not allow me to turn it on again, not even to recovery or download mode. it simply stops responding. After some hours, when the battery discharges, i charge it a little bit and then, i can turn it on. Like it needs to be completely discharged to be able to boot
this all began happenning when i was on TWRP with some flavor of CM11, now i updated it with LG Support Tool to stock V50020d but the behavior continues
could that be the bootloader? recovery? faulty hardware? any clue on what to try?
thanks

Maybe you could try a different kernel?
Have tried both Pixel Dust and Nitrogen and end result is that phone seemingly dies during step 1/2 of flashing. I performed flash-all with /w option on both slots and the phone boots cleanly. Then I boot TWRP and try to flash the ROM and the TWRP zip. I can see on the phone display that somewhere in the first step of the flash (for both PD and Nitrogen) that the phone goes to black screen. If I hold the power button, the phone just displays the Google screen. Anyone seen this before?
Where you're having problems I don't recommend flashing both at the same time. Flash the ROM first and make sure it boots. If it does, go back into the bootloader, boot into TWRP with Fastboot, and then flash the TWRP install zip.
It could also be that it's not dieing. TWRP has a screen time out and it maybe going to sleep. If your flashing a rom it may become unresponsive if you push the power button. I like to tap the screen ever so often to keep it from going to sleep. There maybe an option somewhere to disable it altogether

With in TWRP settings you can disable screen timeout. I've had an issue before whereby the screen went to sleep when flashing a new rom, but couldn't then wake the screen.

I've encountered exactly the same issue, as the person above said. If you continuously tap the screen, it won't happen. But if it does happen, just boot up as see where you are and go from there.

Indeed, or disable the timeout to avoid the issue
Hi folks.
I am looking for some help in recovering my phone. My phone was fine till a couple of days back, all of a sudden i see that it is at "Phone is starting" phase for days now. I am on Android 11.
What i have tried so far:
1. Rebooted
2. Wiped cache and rebooted
3. On boot menu, tried repair apps
None of it is helping. Not sure whats going on. Is there hope?
Try a factory reset... you'll lose all data which you hopefully backed up before this.
It maybe malware, a software issue or a hardware failure.
Is there anything else that can be tried without factory reset?

If you can repair what's causing the boot loop if it's not hardware related.
That's beyond my knowledge limits.
See if you can boot into safe mode.
The 2 times my N10+ boot looped on me because of a buggy launcher after a few boot attempts it automatically defaulted to safe mode.

Well, i have tried safe mode and it ends in the same state as "Phone is starting". The phone starting phase comes after my fingerprint is authenticated, ie phone is up and when i login, it goes to this state. I can access the top menu, and go to the settings, cannot launch any apps though.

Try booting it plugged into the charger.
At this point I would have done a factory reset especially if I didn't know what caused it.

Connect phone with pc and set it into Download mode: as soon as the device is in Download mode, this issue will be fixed automatically. You should not remove the device or use it until the fixing process gets over, else the device can get bricked. After the fixing process is over, the device will restart, fixing all the issues.

What should i do after i go into the download mode?
I have the same issue, did you find a fix?
I already have this issue. i just turn off the 'Power Saving' And it be back to normal, welcome
I'm stuck in the same situation, only i cannot turn off "Power saving" via the shortcut (no reaction at all but all other setting buttons function) and when opening "Battery and Device care" settings closes and back to "Phone is starting".
Also connecting via usb in "Download mode" makes no difference whatsoever... I'm at a los because I'd rather not factory reset because of loss of data...
Any more things I could try by any chance?
Thx a lot!!

Boot into safe mode. If you can first backup your critical data which should have already been done. Then try to correct the fault. If this works it's likely a 3rd party app.
Thx Blackhawk but safe mode doesn't make the smartphone startup and is also stuck on "Phone is starting". I know backup's should of been taken but it's the phone of one of my daughters (and yes kids don't always do as they're told) so I might as well dig my own grave if I reset the phone
On the other hand, this might learn them a valuable lesson
Any other tips/tricks someone?
