[Guide] Linking images on XDA - About xda-developers.com

Hello, XDA'ers,
There seem to be a lot of people on here that don't know how to make pictures "clickable", so I thought I might as well make a thread to help you guys out!
First, I'd like to notify you all that you are only permitted to have and edit a signature after you make 10 useful posts, so don't worry if your Control Panel doesn't have an "Edit Signature" tab.
To make a Signature Picture clickable:
First, you must upload a picture you would like to be displayed in your signature. Here's a screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, you can use the [sigpic] tags with URL tags wrapped around them, like this:
Code:
[PLAIN][url=the.url.of.the.page.you.want.to.be.linked][sigpic][/sigpic][/url][/PLAIN]
Now, maybe you're thinking, "Hey, thanks for the tip, but I have more than one signature picture I want to link to a URL - how do I do that?" Well, here's how:
To make any picture clickable:
First, you must upload the image you want to be displayed to an image hosting site. I use imgur, for example.
Then, you must copy the URL of the image you uploaded. For Chrome, this would be [right click the image] > Copy image URL.
After copying the image URL, use this code to insert into any post or signature:
Code:
[PLAIN][url=the.url.of.the.page.you.want.to.be.linked][img]the.url.of.the.image.you.want.to.display[/img][/url][/PLAIN]
Done! You have successfully linked a picture to a website/webpage by making it clickable.
Hopefully this post helps you all out a bit!
Regards,
Nookie

Yes, that's right.
Thanks for the tip - adding to the OP now.

Can I set height or width of the image?
Something like
HTML:
height="75px"
.

No HTML works in signatures. You need to use BBCode. That won't change.

You cannot put an iFrame in to your signature. It just won't work. Signatures on XDA must be plain BB-Code. So you'll need to take the contents of your iFrame and convert it into plain BBcode tags like
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

Making a signature

Hi,
Trying to make a signature, i've made it up but when i post it into my sig it's far too small, it's not small on paint, i think it's being resized by xda as it doesn't meet the requirements 500 x 100, so how is it people are having huge signatures? Are they all URL's?
If anyone can help me out that would be great.
thanks.
For starters y you need to crop your image. About 25% of the horizontal space is blank and almost half of the vertical is blank.
Yep, what gallon said. Also upload to tinypic or something.
I posted what i wanted onto phtobucket but when i copy the code it won't allow it, it says invalid file ??

Can you post the photobucket URL?
Also, bare in mind that photobucket has limited bandwidth. If you host an image there you may well end up with "exceeded your bandwidth" as your signature.
You don't add an attachment you write in in code adding the url to the image box that's bellow fonts selection
[URL*="http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81"]
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[/URL]RL]
That's the banner in my sig with link to rules hosted from picasa.
* there so as you can see code.
If you upload thefile to mediafire or somewhere like and give me the link ill upload it to my image host and send you the link and where to paste it mate or pm me and ill talk you through it
edit: you can post it here as an attachment and i can save it from there mate

[TUTORIAL] Center Your Lockscreens [AOKP Example]

Note: Don't let the fact that you're opening up a command prompt or editing .xml files scare you. It's quite simple! In fact, if you follow what I do step-by-step: this will work for AOKP Build 5 without any changes.
Other ROMs will have different layouts. But they will always (that I've seen) be localized in four to six files that reference to a "keyguard."
The edits should be fairly obvious. Look at where the brackets start and end: along with what they're calling.
I encourage you all to post your .zips here since I'm no longer doing this.
Please rename them so users can easily find one for their build and device.
Example (doesn't change text color):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

XDA image CDN is broken

Howdy,
Whenever I post an image in a thread, might only happen if my images are wrapped in a URL (the image wrapped is a thumbnail), hitting preview will replace the thumbnail link with a large link that points to an XDA CDN.
But it's broken.
The link it replaces the off-site thumbnail with never actually works. It's always a 404.
Is there a way we can turn this off? Since I doubt it would be fixed anytime soon :\
So it's a URL parsing thing. Here is the situation:
1) I put in an IMG link, and when editing/posting, it changes the IMG URL to this:
Code:
https://img.xda-cdn.com/o1fMEJDyu5x7pv2B9KB323i8_IA=/https%3A%2F%2Fthumbs2.imgbox.com%2Fd7%2Fc2%2FDxa93pOz_t.png
...works fine, can visit it yourself.
2) If I edit the post again, the IMG URL is immediately changed to this:
Code:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/img.xda-cdn.com/ZeqISavL0xALtZg9gIMLFpJrPoM=/https%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fimg.xda-cdn.com%2Fo1fMEJDyu5x7pv2B9KB323i8_IA%3D%2Fhttps%253A%252F%252Fthumbs2.imgbox.com%252Fd7%252Fc2%252FDxa93pOz_t.png
Very annoying.

This similar thing happens to me too on my DevDB Threads as well.
It looks like the identifying image code is missing from the beginning and the end...
I'm going to try something with your image url you had provided.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I just grabbed the first image url you had provided and added the IMG code before the URL and the closing /IMG to the end.
PHP:
[IMG]https://img.xda-cdn.com/o1fMEJDyu5x7pv2B9KB323i8_IA=/https%3A%2F%2Fthumbs2.imgbox.com%2Fd7%2Fc2%2FDxa93pOz_t.png[/IMG]

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
Ok so this is an old one, but it seems to have been fixed.

@rei20 I'm unable to reproduce the buy that you're reported.
I'm on the latest firefox beta for android.
It's possible in between one of those steps I pressed on a link by mistake and used the back button to return to the edit screen.

I'm using FF v91.0.2 with a lot of privacy related add-ons. It might certainly be that there was just whatever wrong user input. I think it doesn't matter; this happens to all of us. We're just humans, aren't we. You were the very first who reported this "bug".
Please advise if you want me to close your thread, and afterwards I also close this one - but not sooner than tomorrow as my usual logoff/bedtime is approaching or tonight more precisely football worldchampionship qualifiers and my team is going to play.
Have a good night! Regards
Oswald Boelcke
