On my stock Nexus 5, toggling airplane mode would let me obtain a new IP address. On the latest beta version of PA, airplane mode does not change my IP even if I turn off data manually. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my phone/carrier preventing it from changing?

I am trying to enable WiFi calling with the cellular radio turned off.
According to Samsung & T-Mobile the only official way to turn of the cellular radio is to enable Airplane mode.
Here is the procedure that I tried:
Enable Airplane Mode
Turn on WiFi
Connect to a functioning WiFi hotspot
Enable WiFi Calling
Wait for the WiFi Calling Icon to appear in the status bar
Make a WiFi call
At this point the dialer sits at the dialing screen for more than 10 minutes (I bailed at 10 minutes). As soon as I abort the dialing attempt a dialog box pops up saying you cannot make a call while in Airplane mode.
Is there any way to completely disable the cellular radio without putting the phone in Airplane Mode?
Is there an app that will do this?
Is there a hidden that will do this?
Please don't use bandwidth by asking why I want to do this or suggesting that I use Skype or some other app. My goal is to be able to make and receive VOIP calls while the cellular radio is completely disabled.
Thank you for your help...
All ready being discussed.

Hi,
Is there a way to get airplane mode working without disabling my portable hotspot? I'm able to enable wifi, bluetooth, etc. upon switching to airplane mode, but the portable hotspot is completely grayed out when airplane mode is enabled. Or is there a way to disable the phone without airplane mode as that's primarily what I'd like to disable as I am using my Epic purely as a PDA with occasional wifi calling. I'm using CM 10.0 and wasn't able to find a thread answering my question. thanks!
Freeze or delete phone.apk in titanium backup.

You'll get an error on every bootup, though it only shows up the once, at least for me when I renamed the APK. But then again, I stay in Airplane Mode.
I've been working with others on changing my device IP address but no matter what I try, I cant get it to change. I've tried toggling airplane mode, data, lte, and restarting it. Is this something thats different for T-Mobile?
I know others can get a new IP address every time by turning off airplane mode for about 10 seconds. Does that work for you?
Using a VPN or proxy would do it but thats not an option for me. Any help is much appreciated :good:
Does anyone know of a way, likely using Tasker, to enter airplane mode when connected to a specific wifi network, but to keep both wifi and BT connections enabled? I have virtually no cell phone service at home, so use wifi calling extensively. However, for some reason it refuses to work on my 2XL unless I have airplane mode enabled. I had contacted Project Fi support, who changed a setting somewhere which worked temporarily, but it is back to not working again unless airplane mode is enabled. I have no idea why the 2XL needs airplane mode enabled, I used to have an S7 Edge on AT&T and wifi calling worked perfectly, no need to do anything with airplane mode, it just worked.
Having to remember to both enable airplane mode (and then re-enable wifi and BT) while at home, but equally importantly having to remember to disable airplane mode when leaving the house is becoming a real headache. Multiple times recently I have gone somewhere, only to realize hours later I forgot to turn off airplane mode and all of a sudden get emails, texts etc. coming through. I am hoping to be able to set up a Tasker profile to do this automatically, but am pretty limited in my knowledge of using Tasker.
Help!
Thanks.
I haven't tried this myself but give it a shot:
Create a new task and set the following actions
1. Enable airplane mode
2. Turn on WiFi
3. Turn on Bluetooth
Seems a bit too straightforward to be true, but in theory it should work
Ever since I restore back to Sprint stock 5.0.2 ZVI my wifi keeps going into disabled mode. Once Wifi is enable it will go into disable status after 30 second to 1 minute. Whats odd is that if i enable airplane mode then i do not have this issue. Data is disabled or else i keep getting message about no lte connection. Factory reset been perform already and same issue.
It seems to only do this after I active the phone on Sprint network.
