[Q] Android OS Battery Drain E980 - LG Optimus G Pro

Alright so I know this is something that comes up often time and time again. After doing so much searching online I haven't really found the answer i'm looking for with this issue. Simply put, Android OS shows it is using above 45% battery, and this is pretty much how it stays. My phone is the LG Optimus G Pro E980 AT&T and I'm running CM11 M10 release on it, directly from their website. I installed the "super light" version of Gapps and decided to install Hangouts and other Google apps as I need them. I've included a ton of screenshots of what I've found out so far and all of my settings related to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.
I've been using the app Wakelock Detector to try and narrow down this issue, but no luck. I really hate to return to the ATT stock image, it's so darn ugly, bloated, and soon outdated now with 4.4.4 out. Soooo any ideas anyone??? PLEASE HELP!!!! :crying:

I am running into the same ...batter draining very fast with CM11 4.4.4....somehow felt stock ROM had better battery
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Free mobile app

Android os drain has been discussed numerous times in our thread and in other device threads as it is a problem with a lot of cm built Roms.... Search before posting ... Not sure if there is a fix or not but good luck ...

Battery Drain Solution1-Root your Mobile
2-install root explorer
3-put your mobile on charging and leave until it reaches to 100%(Do Not Remove Charger)
4-open Root Explorer
5-select Data Under Root Folder
6-Select system
(Root/data/system)
7-delete the file named "BATTERYSTATS.BIN"
8-Remove the charger
9-Restart Mobile
NOTE:
ROM WILL GENERATE NEW BEST FILE AUTOMATICALLY AFTER REMOVING CHARGER
IT IS SUGGESTED TO DO NOT CHARGE YOUR MOBILE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY DISCHARGED AFTER CLEARING BATTERY STATS "JUST FOR 1ST TIME"

maybe the rom developed not to good for battery you should try another

Skyraider 2.2 issue!!

Ok so I got the chance to install raider 2.2 and so far I love it but their are problems bugging me. Keep in mind I have the new updated radio and installed the circulate battery theme. When I charge or use my phone, the battery level remains at 60%. Even in the settings, it stays at 60% what should do? Also, when I try to download add ons for the Rom in Rom manager, I keep getting a bootloop. I'm not sure what file may be causing this but I tried to install a new boot animation(I forget which one) and some apps not included like youtube. Any suggestions?
Revision: ok I've been using my phone for a while and the curricular battery says 40%. I'm just disappointed it can't show my battery change every percentage. Can I make it update more frequently or show a more accurate battery level?

Dude, you can't start new threads like this in the Dev forum. You either reply to to Sky Raider thread or start a new thread in the Question forum. I told you what to install via PM.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......This isn't a developmental subject, Thank you.

wow, maybe you should check what apps and services are running in the background and uninstall/freeze useless crap.
Use betterbatterystats to see what is causing the wakelocks and drain.
Make sure gps/nfc/autosync are turned off.
If you don't know how to do that, why in the world did you bought a smartphone?

I do a lot of thing: like root, using greenify, turn off all connection, sync.... but it seems not to be improved!
My battery only has 8-9 cycles of charging! Is it OK when the cycles of charge more than 12 times!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????
then i guess you just have to turn off the phone and use a nokia 1100 instead.
or go to warranty with it.
but don't ask this type of questions.everybody uses the phone differently.
so,if something does good to my phone,it may do bad to yours.

If you cannot, then let the others help me. Dont spam like that. OK!
it's made to solve phone side issues, not user side issues.

How old is your GN2? Age also degrades battery.
You can try Greenify to hibernate all user apps (but not those which you need notification from.) You can also try to freeze unused system apps using TB Pro or other free apps (there is a list presented somewhere in the DN3 thread, try search)
Goodluck.

about 4months , so i don't think its the age
For battery capacity is warranty for 6 months.
But use Wakelock Detector or Better Battery stats and see the results.
Use the app battery life repair. It activates the inactive cells in a battery. I found it to be useful.

Firstly, there is no reason to put all your writing in bold.
Second, your battery is either dying or you have too many things running in background. Check to see if you have backup services like picasa etc syncing without you realising. Go through everything and turn off the things you dont need/want.
Re calibrate your battery. It will help. There is an app called battery calibration in play store. If that doesn't work you can try manually. I forgot the method though. It really helped me

Google play services - how to kill?

How do I kill this? Need a root?
Because those are killing my battery; more battery used than the screen itself...

Yes you'd need to have root.
You could then Greenify it, although certain things that depend on it may not work properly or It will always just fail to hibernate most of the time.
You could also grab App Ops from the Play Store and set it so that GPS cannot keep your phone Awake.
You could also disable CheckIn Services for it as well using AutoRun manager.
Keep in mind.... Things may not work properly after doing any of these.

Do you use Better Battery Stats by any chance? I'm wondering how much it's keeping your phone Awake and what App is the culprit.

No.
This is after an hour of running without location feature. It has finally pushed Google services back a bit after the screen.
Before I've had Google services way ahead of the screen, which is downright insane.

OK well I'd suggest rooting your phone. Then use Greenify, set your WiFi Always Scanning to OFF, set location services to Battery Saving Mode if possible, try that Xposed Module I posted above, then you could also look into those other suggestions I listed above if you still weren't happy.
What are you typically getting for Battery life though??

I'm a dev so know pretty much most of how to optimize it, just want sure if there is any way around this energy hog.
Thanks for ideas. So far it seems turning off location service really stopped Google services from eating my battery. Don't have time for deeper analysis, but if that helps, fine, don't really use much loc. stuff anyway.

Seems location didn't help. This service from hell is really something that needs to be addressed ASAP.
Is it possible to safely root G3 without triggering any kind of counters and to be able to unroot?
I was usually getting 5h from it, but this cuts it more than in half. Just over night without any real usage I've lost [Google services sucked] 29% of battery life!
Use stumproot to root th3 d3vice its amazing and very easy and no pc needed at all

I'm petty sure you're good. From what I've read on here these LGs are not like Samsung phones that have a counter or fuse that gets tripped. And I've also read that once you flash the TOT file and go back to stock there's no trace.
I'd Root then use Better Battery Stats to see what your Partial WakeLocks, and Alarms are exactly. Could use WakeLock Detector app as well.
There's many things it could be just easier to see by using that method.

If you need anymore help just post screen shots from Better Battery Stats or WakeLock Detector.
Do you use the Google Launcher along with "OK Google " by any chance? Google Search etc....
I used that Launcher for maybe 2 days and after seeing Google Play Services chew up so much Battery I ditched it.
Too many "Google things" running is just not good in my opinion.

Haven't really coded much or fiddled with system since HTC Desire and Android 2.2. Just used SGS3 etc. so I'm a bit rusty with it. Anyway, it seems that Google puts a lot of services there with no settings like wake intervals and such. Sounds bad enough.

Well, correct, yes. But I'm not really satisfied with Google's ability to drain my battery from 89% to 63% over night. Just don't like it. My first try at G3 did not have this problem, but that was weeks ago.

I'd recommend that u reflash with factory reset (CSE flash). You have a big problem there since looking at your pictures that service is keeping your phone awake almost the same time as the runtime is. Don't bother too much with greenify or WLD cause it will just show you that service generating wakelocks and most probably a service under it called NlpCollector Wakelock. Even with location turned on and location reporting and history turned on, you shouldn't have as much. Google service should be in 5-10% zone in battery usage. You can also try with Force stopping the service and clearing data, that might help too but i know there were cases play store wouldn't work as intended after that meaning you would have to reflash anyway after that.

A strange lag on my S6???

Hy guys,
My phone is on 5.1.1 BOI1 , rooted.
When using normally, especially surfing Opera or Facebook, I find it usually has a lag and then moves to lock screen, I have to unlock screen to continue using.
Is there something wrong with my phone? Full RAM or conflicted apps or anything else? (I've used Titanium backup and Greenify so I think it still has enough RAM for such light apps)
I need help to solve this inconvenience.
Thank you a lot

I am going to offer an educated guess that you are using Unikernel V9. The lock screen issue has been reported by other users as well and is, so I understand, being worked on. (Don't know when it will be fixed though.)
You can find version 8 here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39325 if you want to try that. Battery life is not as good, but no lockscreen issue as far as I know.
Just flash the zip file in TWRP, clear caches and you should be good to go.
has anyone compared the battery life between v9 and non-kernel-root routine?
