And please if possible do tell me your best experience regarding battery whether it is cutom rom or stock and custom kernel or stock kernel.

For some odd reason I cannot flahs any custom kernels. Whenever I flash some rom, the included kernel will work just fine. But if I flash another one, like franco or matr1x, I end up in bootloop, or stucks at boot. Anyone else experienceing this behaviour?
You need to make sure you flash a kernel that is built for the version of android you are using.
For example ARHD 2.1.1 is 4.0.2 so you can not use the Matr1x v1.5 kernel because it is built for 4.0.3
Always read the OP before flashing, the info is there
Edit: messed up my version numbers

I have the same problem - no matter what kernel I use or how I try to install it I have yet to find one that will work with a stock version of ICS 4.0.2 on my phone - they always freeze at the boot screen, I don't get any further.
I have indeed checked versions before flashing.

[XXLE4]Issue with custom kernel - disturbing reboots
Hi everyone,
I am facing an huge issue that make me unable to flash any custom kernel without rebooting.
I though it was because brand new XXLE4 cannot support 1k+ frequencies or may be another things than I could not have been imagine because of my poor informatic and linux knowledges but it seems that i am just unable to flash custom kernel. only the original CF-ROOT doing his job but others aren't.
May be because of the SetCPU apps but it is less sure that the origin take his effect from that apps. It is a quit anoying because I would have been set my Scary 120 - 1350 to get an impressive battery life with the brand new UC-Kernel but seems to be a mirage for me.
I had got some custom roms but I can't just use them because I want an real free-bugs ROM an official release are the only one option for me and my usual usage.
Thanks in advance for the help provided and I apologies for my bad english.

4.0.2? I believe no custom kernels support 4.0.2 anymore. Updated/latest versions of said custom kernels at least. I think franco has a 4.0.4 version of his though i'm sure very few people are on 4.0.4, 4.0.2 is just a thing of the past.

I'm using recently bought un-rooted Galaxy Gio (S5660XXKQ5) with stock 2.3.4 ROM. The reception has been pretty bad right from the start and few days ago I read that the reason for that might be the modem of my current stock ROM.
The question is - can I just flash new modem via Odin without rooting the phone and installing custom ROM? Is there a collection of S5660 modems somewhere?
HI !!!
Hi!
same new member here...
this analogy maybe ll help you...
which one do you think is greater, the brand new car that hasn't been modified or the modified car that its components, including engine, brake, and body has been modified into the best one???...
when you play NFS or GT sure you ll upgrade your car components, right?
same like the custom rom compared to the stock...
even the stock has a lot of problems..
here mine when i bought, i got nothing special with my gio with 2.2.1 stock FW
even the galaxy mini is better comparing to gio with the stock in GPS test
so u better root you phone, without being care about the MOdulator-DEModulator stuff and going to new custom rom
there are a lot of Best rom in the Android Development forum like the one created by phiexz, search yourself
to have custom rom sure you have to root your device, and don't think it's complicated that you should get other's help
u can do yourself
1.)search the root tutorial based on your current rom (when i first root my phone i used superoneclick, but if it's kinda complicated, seach another way)
2.)then install Clockworkmod Recovery, download in the market or else by the name ROM Manager (or the customized CWM)
3.)download the rom (complete components, if existed)
4.)flash the rom by rebooting into recovery... (don't care about rooting again, u ll find most of the rom will be automatically rooted with new CWM, and a2sd enabler)
5.)short tutorial above depends on the rom you ll be flashed
i'm a bit being advisor, hope u dont mind...
I know all the advantages of having a custom ROM but this time I'm really interested in replacing my modem to get better reception. Could it be done?
i really want to know this encase i dont brick my phone and having to go through a formal reset of resetting my phone when installing another custom ROM
i hope someone can answer this ASAP thanks
and what custom kernel is needed for cyanogenmod7.2
There are plenty of threads about this, simply put: it's the software that controls the radio. If you want a better description search for one of the other threads.
And the custom rom will have the recommended baseband, if you already have it you won't need to reflash.
Sent from my LT18i
The baseband is a subsystem of the phone that controls radio communications. It controls cellular hardware and communications with cell towers.
The FXP team bundles their kernel along with their CM releases. (It's the boot.img in the zip).
Hello I have an Arc S running Pureness ROM and stock kernel with cwm. I totally love this ROM but I can't connect to 3G. This is an LT18a but it shows as a LT18I. I had no problems with other ROMs connecting to 3G and I don't really want to change this one I love it and I want to know if I can fix this and how.
Thanks
Ps. Sorry if this has posted before but I couldnt find the answer.
the reason why it shows at LT18i is because the ROM has a different build.prop (you can edit the model in the build.prop)
try re-flashing the ROM, and it might fix your 3G problem (iv never used this ROM before... but maybe the ROM might have an issue with 3G iv encountered a problem like this in a recent ROM, and flashed the next update)
Yes I know about the name change, I already tried both LT18a and LT18i firmwares without any problem, but with this one I have this problem I really don't want to change to another ROM, but if there's no solution what other ROM do you guys recommend to me? Thanks.
Sorry for the double post, I just wanted to post that if you don't have 3G after using this ROM it's because you need to manually enter your provider APN information. The Sony and some other ROMs provide an utility that let you download that information automatically, sadly, this ROM does not have this functionality. Posted this in case someone else has this problem.
Hello guys. After Flashing lots of custom ROM i found a weird bug. Signal strength in custom ROM is less when compared to ZUI ROMs. I'm using Jio, I facing network drops at particular area in custom ROMs but in Stock ROM there is no network drop. Internet speed also slow when compared to stock. Due to this I'm unable to use any custom ROM. Kindly guys please help me in this problem.
