Hi everybody!
I have a newbie question.
I am really thrilled about cookers work here and want to try a lot of ROMs but I am really tired to put my "settings" afterwards.
My question is:
Can I have restored all my data (settings, e-mail account data, my WiFi setting for a number of routers I use, my tweaks, programs, etc.) with Sprite software we get with our Diamonds?
Sorry, a backup made on one rom is specific to that rom - you can't restore it once you change to a different rom. You must reinstall software and change settings manually once you flash. Sucks, but that's the price of being on the cutting edge!
Actually, all I want to backup is
- Bluetooth connections
- WiFi networks
- mail account settings only (ie not messages, or any other stuff)
I can live with reinstalling cabs, and making a couple minor tweaks here and there - just get frustrated with having to re-pair all my blueooth devices and wifi networks!
Is there anyway I can do that? Backup specific registry keys/files?
Might want to have a look at using Benghali's Sashimi....lot of work to set up, but once you have its gr8
sprite backup levels
restoring an old backup on a new rom with spb backup you can choose differents levels of restoring.
only personal data: contacts, messages, ecc
level 1: (preferred with the same rom) all your data stored in the rom(internal memory and not in the memory card), programs, system files etc can be restored. the problem is that this kind of restore on a new rom is unusefull. because it restores all system files all properties of the old rom.
level 2: (preferred for restoring on another diamond with same rom and features) it restores all your data, and some tweak on another diamond with same rom, but something you must set by your self.
level 3: (i think the best way) preferred to restoring all your personal data, programs installation and others tweaks in the same diamond except system files with a new rom.
it works good, but some tweak, some programs, icon or whatelse is to set by you, but the majority of yout tweaks etc are restored from your backup.
i hope it is clear and usefull, bye
Sashimi is the way to go. Please post your threads in the right section. This is a software question and has nothing to do with ROM Development

you're right, my fault.
Tnx once more for your answers. this community is great!
It is very frustrating to get device precisely as it was before upgrading.
Don't get me wrong i think it is a lot of fun to do that but my wife doesn't
Ok, here is the thing: By mistake i delete some file in /system/apps/ via rootexplorer...i thaught i'm on sdcard, an now my phone is very sluggish, 75-80 % processor most of the time and when i want to make a phone call it, the signal is lost for a second and dial pad is closing...
Some ideas to get the defy back on tacks?
Stock: system version: 2.34.1 retail SEA;
firmware version: 2.1-update 1.
Thanks.
1. which apps did you delete?
2. you didn't make a nandroid-backup before deleting them?
for deleting system-apps I would recommend titanium-backup so you can backup the app before deleting it (works even with the lite-version)
I dont know what app i did delete, one or more..., and no i did not made a nandroid backup...titanium i think is not working on backing up system apps..., so any idea besides new rom...?

for me titanium is working for backing up system-apps. maybe you should try to install titanium perhaps it realizes the traces of the deleted apps and will show you what you deleted...
as long as you don't know what you deleted I do not see an other possibility then flashing a ROM (at least you're still able to backup you're personal data so flashing it would not be that big deal).
btw.: next time you decide to "delete" something, besides making a nandroid-backup, try just to rename the app-file from .apk to .ap (or so). this will have the effect that it will not be used and you can easily reactivate it via renaming it back to .apk again.
Ok, thx. Now to flashing...
I have the premium version of Titanium Backup which I have been using for over a year with much success.
I have one query which would make it really awesome if it can be accomplished.
I normally only use it when doing a ROM upgrade. When I am getting ready to upgrade, I delete all my old backups, do a new set of backups on all user apps + system data, and wipe and flash the ROM. Then, when I'm back inside, I go into the Market and download Titanium plus the Pro unlock, and restore the backup.
(First of all, is this what you guys do? restoring all system data shouldn't screw up the features of the new ROM from the old one, right?)
The question is: Is there any way to have Titanium run without having to first go into the Market, find the app plus the unlock, download it, and install it? i.e. If I could just run it straight off the SD card, or install it straight off the SD card without having to use the Market.
Ideally, it would be even better if I could have a startup script on first run where it just restores the full set of apps + system data after I've flashed the ROM.
Is this at all possible?
download or extract from a rom the titanium.apk, put it on sd-card an install the apk after flashing new rom and it´s done.

Never restore system data as it can and has causes issues. It is only advised to restore user apps and data never system data.
As for your other question no not that I know of. Most roms worth anything already include TIBU so all you have to do is install the pro key and run it.
Start Titanium backup
Goto menu/more/create update>zip
scroll down and hit "create update.zip"
when you install a new Rom just use "add another zip" when in Rom manager or 4EXT recovery
Goto SD card and select "update.zip" from root of SD card
Hope that helps

Thanks, that's great!
Do you know if it is smart enough to bundle the Pro unlock into the update.zip? I opened the zip file up and there only appears to be 1 APK in there.
Would it be difficult (or even possible?) to manually adjust the update.zip so that it includes the Pro unlock APK?

Pro unlock is stored on the SD card, no need to worry about it

restoring
So I'm returning my nexus for a replacement today. Some kind of battery issue that makes it keep turning off every night:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34923533#post34923533
On restoring, if I understand right, I'm going to move my titanium folder back to the new nexus to the SD card area.
Run my TiBU apk and just restore my apps and associated files.
If I understand right, I Should Not restore my system files right? (Although i did a lot of customizing i was hoping could come right over).
Then when i have it all customized again, I'll back up the new system and hopefully it won't have any issues anymore.
Just an android noob talking it through, sound good?
I'll be installing the rom and CM10 again of course before doing this.

Sorry, i take this opportunity to ask a question i had in mind for a long time: what exactly do you mean by "system data"?
I mean, can i restore stuff like "Settings", or "Wireless network", "Bluetooth associations", "SMS", "Wallpaper" and stuff like this? Is really annoying to have to re-customize from scratch the CyanogenMod settings and similar stuff, everytime i do a full wipe...

You can restore these, they're not system level files (i.e. make the system run)

Could you tell me a couple of examples?
I'm sorry but i really can't figure out which ones are the system apps. In my opinion, even Settings and Wireless networks are system apps.
Do you mean all the services, frameworks, sms and contacts apps and stuff like this?

I think he's talking about app names that are red-colored while you're doing the backup in Titanium BackUp.
Am I right?
Cheers
Please delete
so, I might have caused the problem deleting some of the "safe to delete" files.
Now my call announcer is Flaky and sometimes does not work
every time I load it, it asks for a TTS file, and it does not, or is not able to interface with it.
If I re-flash the route66 rooted rom, which is what I have been using, will the original files that were deleted, and frozen re-appear as before I messed them up?
Thanks for the replies (ahead of time)
Aloha
Wow....
Nobody responds uh? Anyone?
The answer to your question is yes. Reflashing root66 will undo all changes you made to the system partition (freezing/deleting system apps). However, it won't undo any settings you have changed, as those are on data, not system.
I noticed scrolling through my app list I had a duplicate phone entry after the 5t update, 2.0 and 2.1. I made a backup of it with titanium backup and uninstalled it in case it was a duplicate figuring i'd just restore it if it was problematic.
Issue is titanium backup won't restore it through the GUI. I tried copying Dialer.apk to system/priv-app/Dialer/Dialer.apk and rebooting and that resorts in the icon restoring but the app still won't work. (made sure permissions match)
I think maybe I'm missing a .odex file or something?
Anyone have good instructions on restoring or know what I am missing?
Thanks,
Here u go, from latest OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA
Thank you kinda sir, any chance there is a lib\arm64 folder there?
think I may be missing that.
edit: nevermind, worked with just the .odex file
can't thank you enough.
