Tab S 8.4 - Root - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I have question with regards to rooting of Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE version. I am suppose to follow this link , however, I need to verify few things to make sure i will not break the device.
1. Does the link I provided is good start and I can successfully root the device?
2. What happen if my device is rooted and there's new android version (say 4.4.3), do I get the update and can install it on the device?
3. How can I unroot the device incase I need to send back the unit for warranty?
4. Does Samsung will know if the device is rooted before?
5. What is the risk involve on rooting?
6. Do i need to restore the device before I do rooting?
7. Do I loose some features on the Samsung Tab if I root the device (such as stay wake, Finger scanner, etc)? - I like some features on Samsung Tab, but the reason for me to root is to remove other appsthat samsung installed, to free up space by installing Folder Mount and move some apps to SD card, to gain more visibility/ control of the device, etc .
Pardon me if I post on the wring section of the forum or It is forbidden to post such question, but I just needed to know these things before I proceed with rooting the device. I am also looking to root my Note 4
Thanks in advance.

firstly.. there are Q&A and troubleshooting section here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help where you are suppose to start this thread.
any way i'll answer your doubt.
1. yes its a good place. but just use a proper files from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/cf-auto-root-chainfire-t2881826
2. you can download the full stock firmware at sammobile.com and flash it using odin.
3. Just enter the supersu apps and click unroot in the option. that's all. or just flash the official stock firmware via odin
4,5 Yes and you loose the warranty and now knox meter will be 0x1
6. No
7. Screen Mirror might not working. others work as usual unless you remove some required files. i think folder mount wont work on 4.4.2

Thanks, edan1979 .
Based on the site you've provided ([ROOT]Official CF-Auto-Root By Chainfire.) I am wondering if my device is capable and do I get the correct CF-Auto. I am attaching a screenshot of "About Device" of y Tab S 8.4 LTE.

Thanks, edan1979. Do you have Tab S8.4LTE where you already root it? hows it performs? better than Stock ?
Additional question, the firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/ is stock or custom?
So if I rooted my device, it will not AUTO update right? which I need to download the firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/, after I flash it, do I need to re-root the device?
Thanks.

GT-N5100 change ROM - bought in China

Dear all,
i am living in China and I receive the note 8 GT-N5100 for present... but as you may know in China, Android is customised with no google services and play store! impossible to choose language except korean, chinese and english (but all the samsung applications are much more chinese languages aware than english)...
So I try to change the chinese ROM with a european one last week end through Odin but it failed during the process (on the forum, it seems that a bootloader or something like is blocking the process) and I restore it through KIES.
i am now in a guerilla mode with my tablet as i will whatever it takes to break these chinese limitation and have a real international tablet.
i read that mobile Odin pro could be a solution? but through the device no appstore, so can't buy it (and seems that mobile odin is not covering yet note 8).
i am looking for your help on that, if you have any ideas, please help!
thanks
Questions first. Are you rooted? Can you use the root tools here to root your device? That will be a prerequisite for most things. If your trying to instal the google framework for play services Try the instructions on this link Make sure you use the manual installation method. I know this is for the kindle fire HD but the file structure should be similar and it will get ya up and running.
hi thanks for you reply.
i added a file named: CF-Auto-Root-kona3g-kona3gxx-gtn5100.tar.md5 through Odin on the table with no problem (red android robot as a pirate) and it has added superSU.
so i suppose that i have rooted it?
Try the v1,1 toolkit for the Note 8. You find if in the original android development Section. Install and follow the Instructions, You have to check if your version is supported, else you follow the instructions and send your version to the dev. Then wait for support. I found the toolkit great and easy to use. Just root and install custom recovery, and you will be good to go!

hope this will work with this crazy chinese rom.
is the toolkit will working with my build number: JZO54K. N5100ZCBMD2. the toolkit mentions build BMC9-BMD1?
as said the aim is to change the ROM.... sorry toask so much questions but first time i am doing that
thanks

Your rom ends with BMD2, therefore it's outside the span BMC9- BMD1. Follow the an screen instruktions, and send your version to the dev. He will add your version shortly, then you are able to run custom roms!

Help!!! Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition 4G LTE S-Pen Functionality Gone!!!

Hi,
I just recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition on ebay. it was a factory unlocked version from singapore from a highly rated seller
This is the tablet ebay item number 281216040890
It is the 32GB 4G LTE Model with a snapdragon 800 chip inside, model name SM-P605.
I started it up and it had Android 4.3 Installed on it with the older interface, the s pen and everything else worked fine just a little laggy. literally every 10.1 2014 edition I had been seeing around had the 4.4.2 Kitkat Update
So I decided to update it myself and maybe a custom rom afterwards.
1) I downloaded an official 4.4.2 Rom from live.samsung-updates
2) Afterwards I downloaded the CF Auto Root files from chainfire
3) And finally I dowloaded the TWRP recovery from here teamw.in/project/twrp2/207
I'm a new user and i'm not allowed to post outside links by the way so I couldn't post direct links. I'm also going to post this in the Note 10.1 general section just to get a wider response.
I followed all the steps to update. Step one went well but then I reached step 2 and I bricked my device after flashing the CF Auto Root, I had a static like screen and went into an automatic infinite boot recovery loop, absolutely no way to turn it off so I had to hold the download mode buttons for like 20 seconds to thankfully get back into download mode. I tried this over 5 times, the CF Auto Root was always bricking my device.
So I skipped step 2 and went straight to step 3 but his time the TWRP recovery menu was faulty and not working at all like it should, tapping button A would open Process D etc. I think this might have been because I didn't have root access.
So I just decided to not have any root and just rock the stock official 4.4.2 like that, then guess what. THE S PEN DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!!!!
It shows "s pen has been detached" when removed and the air command menu shows up but the floating pointer is missing and no taps, clicks, jotting or writing registers LIKE AT ALL!!!. I know its not the pen because the tablet s pen works fine on my note 3.
I've reinstalled the 4.4.2 firmware multiple times, multiple regions, wiped partition, done factory resets etc. The tablet portion works perfectly but No S pen.
the note 10.1 without the spen is like having a galaxy tab 4 10.1 inch tablet it's just a tablet now with no s pen.
The knox counter has tripped and samsung canada and usa are telling me the baseband version in not north american so they can't help me.
AM I REALLY THIS SCREWED???. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO OR TRY.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Open the phone dialer and dial *#2663#
When you see a screen similar to below image check to see if fw version of wacom ic and fw version in kernel image are the same (I'm betting they aren't)
Now just hit the button wacom update kernel binary. It should say updating don't turn off. Wait a moment then bang it's fixed.

The only thing I see is that you probably corrupt something during rooting. Your device can be easily root using "Towelroot" can be found at towelroot.com. You also must use TWRP 2.6.3.3 and make sure you download the right stock firmware. First, use towelroot to root your device, then flash TWRP, then use TWRP to wipe everything (include format sdcard), then reflash your stock firmware. If everything is working ok, then redo root with towelroot. Good luck.

How to root a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195) running KitKat? (SOLVED)

Hello guys! I am here today to ask if any of you have a tutorial on how to root a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195) whose Android System is KitKat 4.4.2.
I have googled the whole net and most of the tutorials are on Android System 4.2.2 and the ones about the 4.4.2 have a dubious origin under my opinion.
So if any of you have can give me a hand would be awesome.
Thanks.
-C
--------
SOLUTION
The tutorial is posted on HERE (spanish).
WARNING
· Only works for models I9195L / I9195 / I9192 / I9190.
· Backup your files, apps, contacts, etc. You may use Kies to do that.
· Backup your EFS folder.
· You have to install the drivers on you PC. Download at Kies Drivers.
· Use at your own risk.
STEPS
1.- Download and unzip the CF-Root, according to your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini model.
The zip includes ODIN and the working SuperSU version.
· i9195.
· i9192.
· i9190.
· i9195L.
2. Restart your Galaxy S4 Mini and while it is starting up hold HOME + POWER + VOLUME DOWN (it will get you into Download Mode).
3. Connect your Smartphone to your PC and run ODIN.
4. Select as PDA the CF-Root file included in the zip file.
5. Make sure "Re-Partition" is not checked.
6. Click Start and let the magic do its work.
7. Restart your phone and check if SuperSU is installed; if it is not, download it from the PlayStore.
8. Run SuperSU and upgrade the binaries. A warning will come up asking what to do with Knox, click on deactivate.
9. Restart your phone once again. Your Galaxy S4 Mini is now rooted.
Anything you need feel free to contact me.

Help! Push notifications work half the time with certain apps

Issue after 4.3 Auto Upgrade:
I have looked through many, many questions on this forum group relative to push notifications but most do not have an answer (or reply). I had learned that developers must update their apps to comply to 4.3 notification process that is part of 4.3 (POS). Is that my problem? I don't know.
I have tried 10 different reminder apps that notify me of events I have created that repeat, are persistent and stick to the notification drawer, but rarely, if even do. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Other apps have similar behavior: one message comes through and 5 after will not. I am baffled.
I am rooted: Odin 3.09 root66 tar
Samsung Galaxy S III LTE
Any help is greatly appreciated. I do NOT have the funds to get a new phone and am stuck with the S3. Thank you in advance.
After doing tons of research on the push notifications, I have installed DynamicNotifications, removed any other lock screen app, customized DynamicNotifications and hopefully this will do the trick. So for anyone coming to this forum about 4.3 and push notifications issues .. take heed that you won't get a reply but try DynamicNotifications and uninstall any app you have that uses a lock screen. I was using CM Locker. DynamicNotifications has a built-in lock screen. You can read about the app in the Market/Play Store. I would also recommend watching a few YT vids on DynamicNotifications.
This app will help as well:

You might want to read the article I just posted.
I had a look at the article and noticed that it was published on September 9, 2013.
You must have a ROM installed on your phone; otherwise, the phone would not boot, no?

Of course its from 2013. I am on o/s 4.3. That is when all the push notifications began to disappear. This is the reason:

Trust me, if there were a way I could get off 4.3 I would but I am stuck with the S3.

I am using PNF (root), DynamicNotifications, have checked the TCP timeout, and everything inbetween. Will have to do a factory reset next, but I've read that didn't help at all.
"In a nutshell, Google’s push notifications service work by making a connection on TCP port 5228 between the phone and Google servers."
The latest T-mobile NF4 ROM came out in October, 2014. You could move to a custom Lollipop ROM to see if that solves the issue.
The fact that the Root66 ROM is rooted may have something to do with the push notifications.
Looks like the solution may require changing TCP time outs on a wifi router.
Unfortunately, my Netgear genie does not allow for TCP parameter changes.
I will try a ROM change next but I cannot even tell you how many hours I have invested in this device since it auto upgraded to 4.3 - ridiculous.

Short of a Nandroid restore, is there a .ZIP to flash that backs this out?
Also, has anyone tried this on v5.0.1?

Thanks, worked great on the N910T3 on 5.1.1
I don't get this actually. what do I benefit of disabling Knox ? can I install TWRP and flash a rom without knox detecting it now ?
Link doesn't work anymore. How does one find the .zip for disabling Knox? Is rooting possible if that second to last step is done a different way?
don't care for knox since i have no need for it. thank you!
Can I use this on a Samsung Galaxy J5 with stock 5.1.1 ?
Does this also work on a Note 3 Neo with stock 5.1.1 ?
Thanks ? ??
Please can i use it on my note edge 6.0.1?
I have Edge S7 T-Mobile with TitaniumBackup Pro vs.7.5
I have first backed up and froze and then completely uninstalled blow listed packages. I after freezing Knox, I found out through the GSam that all or some were still running behind the scenes. As you are aware, Knox is an enterprise security system that impacts the overall performance and slows the system down. It also has a significant impact on the battery consumption and battery life.
I am not responsible for your actions and if you do so, make sure you know what you are doing. Make a complete backup of your system before doing making changes via TWRP. I have downloaded ‘Stock Edge S7 SM G935 T ROM (G935TUVU3APG1)’ from https://samsung-firmware.org/ prior to doing this due to the fact that TWRP does not support Snap Dragon yet. Moreover, I have SOFT BRICKED my phone at my 1st trial !!!
p.s. Your version numbers might be different from mine. I uninstalled these files two weeks ago. Also, you might have different packages based on your provider's settings.
