Change Lock and Unlock Sounds - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to change the lock and unlock sounds without flashing a file? I am rooted but have stock recovery (locked boot loader). I want the Nexus 5 sounds. Thanks

Go to system then media then audio then ui. All unlock sounds have the word unlock or lock in the name. Depends on what security you have on it. I believe knock code sounds have just lock and unlock.ogg. swipe lockscreen has the word light so itll be light_unlock or light_lock for a regular swipe unlock. Pin and others have their own aswell. You need to have the same exact name for the file you want to replace. So if you want nexus 5 unlock sounds or touch sounds, you need to rename them to whichever related in the audio ui folder then copy them to the folder then restart

Yes you just need to place it in the system/media/audio/ui folder. I would backup the ones you are replacing first just to be safe. here's a screenshot of the folder.

Do I need to find a specific OGG (Knock Code Sound) file or can I just download any file and rename it with the OGG extension. What are some alternative sounds that other people have?

Change Boot Animation

I have been looking around and have seen some different apps that say they can change it, and other hacks to do it.
What is the easiest way to change the animation boot screen?
Currently right now when I boot up, I see the HTC Quietly Brilliant image, and then a blink and it shows the same thing, but animated. The animated one I want to change.
You must be rooted to perform this otherwise it won't work.
I think that 'boot animation changer' can handle it.

Yes you can
Theirs also an option to import any other anime you download from within the app
Yes, I know all that.
I am asking what the quickest and easiest way to do it is.
And how well does that App work with the Desire?

unless your using a rom that has symlinked the bootanimation.zip to data/local as aposed to /system/customise/resorce/ there is no app that can change the bootanimation.zip, you will have to do it manually using adb

Custom Boot Animation Problem

ok,
so i have followed all the tutorials on how to add a custom boot animation to the droid incredible. all atempts have failed and i have tried a variation of ways.
could this be that the custom rom i have wont allow it.
The custom rom i have right now is the Liberated v3.0 custom rom
and my kernal is 2.6.35.13
how come i cant load a custom boot animation.
the only other thing to try would be flashing the .zip file but i dont no if that will hurt the phone like all my data?
Could try rom toolbox.

Have you tried placing the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media?

Boot animations are named and stored in different places on different roms. Could be in /system/customize/resource, or /system/media, or somewhere else. If you have a file explorer like root explorer you can do a search for "bootanimation" and it should find the original lacation of the bootanimation and then just replace it with the one you want. Make sure the new one is named exactly like the original one, and that you set the correct permissioms, owner, and group.

Replace the /system/customize/resourve/VZW_bootanimation.zip. just rename the old one to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak and then take the new bootanimation name it VZW_bootanimation.zip. also change permissions to the same as the old file, and change owner and group to root.

Well you should rename the original one in /system/customize/resource to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak, and then copy your new bootanimation to the same directory and give it the same name VZW_bootanimation.zip and set the correct permissions.

That is actually pretty easy. They are PB31IMG.zip files flashed thru hboot. You just have to search for one you like thats compatible with the incredible. I believe there is a huge thread on them in the themes section.
Here is one of them http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753788 but its not the one i was thinking of, i will keep looking.

You dont flash it thru recovery you do it in hboot. When you enter hboot, (vol down +power while the phone is off) a white screen will pop up it should automaticly find the PB31IMG.zip and prompt you to press vol up to update. The PB31IMG.zip file has to be on the root of your sdcard meaning in no folders, and named exactly that caps and all.

Stock Galaxy S3 bootup and shutdown animations/sounds

For anyone running the stock kernel wanting to get rid of the Sprint bootup and shutdown screens, here's the originals. This is a flashable zip.
Is there a way to use custom sounds for boot up/shut down?

Yes. Just get a . wav file the same length of time of your choice. Rename to PowerOn.ogg or PowerOff.ogg (depending on which one you're doing) and push to system/etc.

I'm a few months late but thank you so goddamn much for this! I was looking everywhere for this

Need help in getting back Stock Boot animation on Tab S 8.4

I tried looking around but most guides/remedies seem to be for androids in general, kinda a noob at this so I apologize if this counts as spam.
I would be very thankful if someone could help me out with this recently after flashing ironrom I have this hideuous frog boot animation which replaces my stock one and I tried backing up my stock one and replacing it but when I replaced it, there was no change. I backed up before flashing the rom.
I checked in system/media there were a few boot-related files I think but I'm not sure, going into bin I found bootanimation but it didn't have the .zip extension.
Also, I can't seem to find the bootanimation.zip like most guides on replacing bootanimation tell you to do, some pointers would be helpful.
**Thanks in advance!**

Just extract and place the 3 files in your system/media folder. Make sure permissions are set the same as the other files in the folder.

Did that still black boot screen plus with the new shutdown animation (which was previously working) the resolution is halfed.
I'm thinking I should just reflash to stock since nothing is working but I'd really like to leave that as last resort as this seems like a really trivial problem which I'm just not handling correctly thus the many complications.

Something isn't making sense here, which Root File Explorer do you use?
You should just be able to copy all 3 qmg files from the previous Ironrom or any LP rom for your device and put them in that folder.
That should be it.

I've tried also changing the files permission to be the same as other system/media files and also giving it complete permission. No luck though :S

At the moment the files don't have any permissions at all.
They need to be set r-r-r-w.
Apart from that I see no reason for it not to work.

The ones in the screenshots have total access. I have tried limiting it to r-r-r-w with no luck difference.
Seems like the shutdown animation works though (it did before) but now the lower half is grey probably due to the different resolution size.

I suggest you reflash Ironrom without wiping. At least you'll get back your animations.
Then I'd back them up and try again.
One thing to note is that the t805 version of Ironrom doesn't have this frog boot animation.
Can you send me your frog animation?
