Hello Note2 nation,i am testing both cm11 and stock tw 4.3 for the last few days, and i simply cant decide which one to keep as my daily driver.
I preffer the look and feel of pure AOSP,but TW also has something to offer. In my opinion, cm11 runs very smooth and quick on this phone, but
TW is not far away (debloated, ofc). My main focus is on:
1) Battery life
2) Camera
What are your expiriences with battery life on these 2 roms ? I still think stock one has slight advantage, but cm11 is a lot better now then when i first flashed it,it seems like i can get more battery juice of it now.Still,i would give advantage to stock rom in terms of battery life.
As for the camera,is it only me or do you find your pics on CM more blurred and out of focus then those taken with stock rom's camera app?
I have tried Paranoid Android,Liquid smooth,Slim kat and DN3 ,and all of these cant be compared to CM in terms of battery life,so i decided to
go back on CM,but im keeping my stock rom in backup folder just in case i want to go back to it.

I bought my Galaxy W and instantly started modding it, currently I'm on Arco's CyanogenMod 9 EOL, I didn't have much experience with the stock ROM you actually get with the phone, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4 UX.
My question is, is the stock ROM the most stable ROM with the best battery life you can get?
I would like to have some basic info like how smooth it is, the battery life, usability compared to the later CyanogenMod ROMs. I'd like to know whether its actually the best option except being kind of out of date now.
Thank you in advance :good:

From what I know the stock rom is better at keeping the battery use low during standby but i don't know whether that's true

I think that's true..
cause some Custom ROM come with some tweaks, some can keep the processor running low during standby. some also have some kind of better ram management.
Also if you want, you also can try some other kernel. cause some can even make longer battery life
switched for a tweaked stock 2.3.6 to a custom ICS and never looked back, the performance is just much better
I would say that my battery lasts longer with a custom rom. On stock sometimes it suddenly went off.
Currently I'm fine with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214042. And the camera isn't green.
Hi,
I've installed the official 4.3 ROM onto my N7105 and while I like the way it look etc - it's a little bit slow. I've come CM ROMS so my expectations are perhaps a little too high.
Is there a 4.3 TouchWiz ROM with enhanced performance and good battery life? I looked at the Lion ROM, but I can't see what is actually different from the standard 4.3 TW ROM.
Any help would be welcome.
Thanks all.
I want to start a poll and a discussion thread, also to help new users (and old users) to decide which ROM to use, if long battery life is the top priority in their choice of ROMs.
I myself have only used STOCK 4.1.2 JB, and STOCK 4.4.2 KK (E988), and I have tested both enough to convince myself that Stock 4.1.2 does have better standby battery life than stock kitkat.
But for the sake of greater completeness, I will include 2 more options in the poll: 4.4.2 Variants, and non-Kitkat Variants.
So based on your experience, which ROM has the best standby battery life for you?

In comparison to kk roms, I think stock jb is better in this regard. I would be curious to know how much better you found it in comparison to stock kk?

Based on battery monitor widget, I averaged 4.6%/hr drain on JB ROM, 6.9%/hr drain on KK ROM. Medium use through a typical day.
I'm getting decent battery on this kk that I've been using for the last four or five days.
People know I'm cynical about everything, and with that in mind, I think this Rom is better than others for battery life.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

Yes but usually JBs have better battery life than KKs. (On the Note 2, this was much more obvious. And many of the custom KK have horrible battery life, both on the Note 2 and the OGP.)
I ran the stock JB on my phone and it was not too bad but this KK is somewhat better battery. I'm not saying that its mind blowing better, just a little bit.
The best battery life on any device I've ever held was the LG G2 running stock JB 4.1.2. Unbelievable.
Hello,
What Custom Rom you guys think its best for Battery Life and Stability?
I've been using CM11 for the last few months and now im Trying Omnirom. They are both stable and use the same battery.
I cannot try every rom, so im asking here for your opinion.
I very much doubt battery life would be any different because of ROM version.
It has more to do with individual usage patterns
&
BT On/active/streaming
Brightness level/Auto
Data On/updates/push services
Calls talk time
Text/chat apps
Wi-Fi/Hotspot on/active
I'd say if your getting nearly 2h's of screen on time then the ROM is just fine.
There may be others getting more, but it all depends on how you use your device.
I don't mind charging my phone 2-3 times throughout the day(to help keep it topped up), I don't use Wi-Fi since I have unlimited data, unless it's for a large occasional download (testing new ROM/apps) have auto app updates and push services on) and leave BT on to automatically connect to my car stereo and start streaming music and also always leave auto brightness on.
Personally, I have tried lot's of different Custom Roms, and to be honest, none of them are as good as Stock 4.3 in terms of battery life and stability. Yes, other ROMs offer additional features and Android Versions that would otherwise be unavailable, but are mostly less stable, more laggy and have worse battery life. If you want customisation, you can root and use Xposed Framework.
That said!.. the best custom ROM that I have used is both FML Kitkat and FML Lollipop by MWisBest.

Recently I went back to 4.2.2 (Verizon) because no roms I could find had decent battery life. I started using greenify to help with memory, as I find that soon as it gets to about 100mb free, the lag is terrible.
So in your opinion FML Kitkat vs stock on battery is worse? I briefly tried FML Lolipop but felt it was too early in dev and buggy
thx,
riz

Yeah, I've always found that stock Jelly Bean has the best battery life. But your experiences may vary with usage.
I have used CM11, PA, Shiny ROM and FML so far. I cannot compare them to stock, since I haven't used stock due to lack of customization features.
IMO, Shiny ROM + Dirty V Kernel with Nephilim's settings had the best battery life. On standby, my phone ran for more than 2 days without a single charge. Performance was decent, although I wouldn't say that it was ideal.
I'm currently running on the latest FML Lollipop + Smitty L Kernel with Nephilim's settings. The battery life is decent, with about a day and a half standby time. Performance is fantastic. If you value both battery life AND performance, you might as well give this a try, as it is definitely worth the effort.
ive tried variety of roms on my sm p600, from debloated stock LP to full stock rom then debloated myself, then to CM13 then recently couple of the CM14
dont get me wrong the unofficial AOSP/CM roms were awesome but they have little bugs and glitches here and there not found in the stock roms, completely understandable and expected and the teams did a fantastic job, however they also have much worse off battery life and gets hot, much hotter than stock firmware if you use it for prolong period, but the speed and smoothness is unbeatable, whereas stock firmware is just rock solid, little could go wrong and things just work as you expect.
is anyone else tired of switching roms back and forth(and im thankful we have so many choices!), i just want something i can stay for sometime without full wiping every so often and im sure many of you share the same sentiment, i am thinking of switching back to stock, debloat it to hell and then just put on the Prime Kernel and leave it til it dies or whatever, the note 2014 had a very good run with me and should still have lots of life left.
does anyone have combination of roms and tweaks thats got a combination of the advantages of both stock and custom roms?
