[Q] Stable Android 4.x: Possible on Galaxy GIO? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

1. Is it worth using Android 4.x on a Galaxy GIO in terms of stability and performance? Can I run it as my daily OS without wanting to experiment?
2. Which ROM would you recommend me then?
3. Is there any guide that explains how to install a custom ROM using Linux?
Thank you!

Anyone?

4.2.2 is stable
http://jenkins.androidarmv6.org/view/All/job/android/604/

Thank you!
Is this one better than the ones provided by novafusion.pl?
Furthermore, can this ROM be used with Link2SD to overcome the low internal memory?

Tried this ROM for a while now. Works very well except for a lock screen DPI issues and sometimes issues with wifi sleep.
It can be used together with Link2SD.

If you're looking for a stable rom for mow there are two kind.
1. The stock GB rom it is stable, and official for our phone
2. The CM9 by arco, it is stable for now, but it is not official for our phone, but it still works great.
And there are many costumized CM9 based rom you can try it, it stable enough and it is good.
Just flash it and you can use the full feature of the rom, just follow the instructions precisely while you want to flash it to reduce the risk of bricking your phone.

Ice Cold Jelly rom.

Hi.
I've installed the Ice Cold Jelly rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052610
I have some questions regarding to this rom:
1. Is the battery going to get better? cause right now it's not that good.
2. Can I install ARHD Kernel on this Rom? Because i've used ARHD for some time and the battery is stable and good there, but I don't want the sense design.
3. Is it possible to install ARHD Rom and theme it like Ice Cold Jelly or anything similar?
4. Is there anyway to get the Sense camera back instead of the 4.2 one?
5. For those of you who use ICJ - How much free RAM do you have?
Thank you!
Bump...

1. No idea.
2. No.
3. Yes. See themes and apps section
4. No.
5. Does not matter. Google linux memory management.
Hello,
I'm using this rom too, and I have a problem with wifi tethering.
It is not tagged as broken, but when I share connection through wifi, my computers (on windows 8 & 7) have a limited connectivity.
Is it a known problem ? I don't have this problem on Android Revolution HD 18.1 for exemple.
Thanks for your answer.

2. Ok, so I can't use ARHD Kernel while using ICJ. thanks.
3. Really? Is that possible to use 4.1.1 Rom [ARHD] and use 4.2.1 theme? [ICJ].
4. Ok, then I guess i'm going back to 4.1.1.
By the way, if I want to flash ARHD back and i'm using ICJ which runs on 4.2.1 - Do I need to do anything special? Or I can flash it normally?
Thanks!

3. Yes. It is called AOSPSense Theme if I remember right
You need to move data from /sdcard/0/ to /sdcard/. Mount usb storage in recovery and cut everything in /sdcard/0/ and move to /sdcard/.

Hi dragon_chris97,
I'm currently using CM 10.1.5 nightly-20131005 by Mardon for my daily use.
It's good since you do not install many apps there to keep the RAM and free space enough for the system.
I don't link frequent use apps to SD-Card since it will impact the performance, but for some not important apps, I link them including dex file.

[Q] Suggest me stable coustom ROM for I9082 please.

Can anyone please suggest me good custom ROM for our galaxy grand. I gave a try with few ROM from this forum but am not much aware of few technical terms go i were not able to justify the stable ROM. Right now am using with dual sim on Cosmic Rom since this is their first try so there were some bugs its seems so am looking for a stable ROM. My usage is won't be to extreme but will have 5 to 8 background running apps so am looking for a light and smooth ROM which will give a performance without any lag, also with battery efficiency. Also am with Limited Bandwidth and i were not able to give try with several ROM so hope you guys will help me. Plz suggest me a stable ROM.
Even if it is Single Sim supported ROM also am happy with that. Looking for Kitkat version if possible.
Apologize if the question is already raised in the forum and i missed it to read. Thanks in advance.
I prefer official Resurrection Remix ROM v5.0.6
It is stable and has a lot of features but only one SIM.

I´m using pawitp CM11.0 ROM since the launch on march-09 and is very reliable and stable. Few bugs, but nothing worse than other Roms I tested.
You should give it a try.
Best Custom Rom for Galaxy Grand Duos I9082
Best Custom ROM for I9082 Galaxy Grand is Xperia Flavored Gennext Rom, Fastest and Most Stable 4.2.2 based ROM. I have tries almost all ROM among which this is best, which have "move to sd" feature due to 4.2.2 JB.
Just give it try , it will not disappoint you.

Its good to have custom rom and i do owe a lot of respect for the developers for making so many customer roms for our Grand.
However, I prefer Stock Rom with modification such as Disabling Bloatware, changing DPI, Using alternate launcher, customization with Xposed etc.
On Stock Rom I get Antutu score of 11,000+ and device is working smoothly even on NB1 Firmware.
So instead of looking for more customer roms, with few bugs, use stock rom with customization.

Stable ROMS?

I'm currently using an S3 as a daily since a friend of mine generously donated his so I can install ROMS.
I'm having heating and performance issues, and I can't find the right ROM to install to this device.
I'm currently using LineageOS (7.1.2) and it's not stable at all. There's too much bugs and lag.
Anyone got cool 7.1.2 stable ROMS that I can install on this device?
I would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
The most stable ROM is going to be a stock unrooted ROM.

That's not what I meant.. The only reason why I'm using a custom ROM is because the apps I use don't support the stock ROM.

Make sure you turn off Adaptive display and LiveDisplay. This should give your phone a massive speed boost as it did for mine. It`s the first thing I do whenever I flash Lineage OS on any device.
However many Galaxy S3 T-999 has been plagued by another problem for some months. Whenever I flashed any custom ROM (I have tried CM 13, CM 14/Linage OS, Mokee), The phone`s goes on mute mode. It makes no sound whatsoever. But it works fine on stock 4.3 but like you said many apps don`t support it anymore.
