Hello,
So after somes experiences on my phone... I post it now, so. My problem is, i can't use my 3G.
I've changed 4.4.4 rom, I used 4.1.2 stock, and 2.3.6 stock rom to "repair" the connectivity.
I can send messages, but I can't send and recieved MMS. If someone know how to troubleshoot this, I'll be happy.
I'm in France with SFR, and I have ALL APN, I've verify on the SFR website, all correct.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English.
Same issue here, I've tried almost all ROMs, including various stock, cm, aokp, etc. I just can't turn on mobile data. APN is ok, Sim card is ok in other phones. I have absolutely no idea what could be the problem. Please help!

Hi again,
After my first panic-stricken post i did a bit of reading (dah) and decided to redo all. So now i have a XDA II with ROM version 1.60.00WWE, Radio ver. 1.10.00 and ExtROM ver 1.60.50. after running the xda2unlockver2.2 the phone is unlocked but with no network, or very erratic network and I can't make or receive calls. The phone was working fine on O2 before the unlocking. I have even got another XDA II with same ROM, radio etc and the process worked fine on that. What could be the problem?
Regards, Jim
I think I would be inclined to backup and try a hard reset, I know it isnt a very original solution but its worth a try, also remove the sim and reinsert. I am assuming you know the history of the phone and there is no chance that it is blocked on the networks.
Hi,
Thanx for the reply, I've tried all that and still no luck. The phone is not barred, I am 100% sure about that. I occasionally get a bit of signal on vodafone and t-mobile but when i try to make a call the signal goes then comes back. Any other ideas?
regards, Jim
maybe trying another sim card ?

We've been waiting! Good to see you back.
Downloading now. I needed something to do while my wife goes shopping, anyway!!
I can't configure an exchange server, it just blinks and doesn't go anywhere when I click on the set up server link. I'll have to wait for the next version...
To all who live in Japan and hope to use this to access MMS via the softbank network:
MMSLITE (both builds) do not work in this rom. So if you need MMS lite, best to stay with 6.0 for the time being until this problem is solved.
I'm loosing faith in this unlocking methodology in JAPAN...PLS HELP
I'm starting to think there is no solution I have unlocked and uploaded and reloaded and re-unlocked, etc but still the same problem...My phone can not access the cellular network. I did a manual search and my phone does not acknowledge the JP Softbank network. I have put different kinds of ROM's and OS upgrades, etc, but still no success. I'm starting to think that these great unlocked PDA's only work in Europe and North America and not in JAPAN.
I have seen several other threads with others having the same problem so I am going to try to ask this question in several different threads.
I have no errors and everything works fine in the process, just like everybody says it does, but still nothing for acquiring a signal. It just either shows an exclamation point or searching dots. I have compared the various carrier options on my phone to other Softbank phones and everything is the same networks except acknowledging the Softbank network.
I'm praying there is some smart person out there who can figure this out...PLEASE...PRETTY PLEASE...

Sounds like a radio problem. Tried flashing to a different radio? See the Wiki for instructions. After upgrading to a new rom you should still be able to get a cell signal.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349461
tried it and doesnt work...
I put several different radio upgrades and nothing...still can never acquire a signal...Please Help! What do I need to do in Japan.

You are getting no signal at all? Can't make calls? I have flashed many roms and always have a signal after flashing. It unfortunately sounds like your phone has a serious problem. I would send it off to get repaired.

I'm a compulsive flasher but I have never been unable to access the network straight after a ROM flash. What radio do you have now? Probably the only way you're going to check if it really is a hardware problem is to install the standard SB ROM (Make sure you disable the re-locking program in the EXT_ROM before you do that - just soft reset when it tries to run the self config after setup, THEN delete the file from the EXT_ROM itself to stop Softbank from screwing you if they hard reset it.) You'll need to install that ROM if you want to return it for repairs anyway.
Is your SIM sitting OK? That caused me problems once before.
don't flash back to softbank yet....

Correct me if I am wrong, but if he installs the SB ROM it will lock his phone for good right? I think it upgrades the radio to the locked 1.14.01.10 If he does downgrade to SB 5 by extracting only the rom from the setup file, then I can't see it making a difference. He should either get a signal or not get a signal, right? I guess though, if it is unlocked and he sends it in for repairs it is going to come back locked in any event.
Wow...many thanks for support BUT still ???
See, I can not get any support from Softbank because I do not have a Softbank phone. The only pda they offer is the X01T HTC with a japanese OS. I have one but it was run over by a car... I can still access the data inside via activesync. Is it possible to copy a particular file from inside that phone to this one.
I bought a Tmobile WIZA200 from the states. Even if I carried it to Softbank, they will not take it because it is in English (&@*#). I am starting to think it is a hardware issue and hope I dnt get burned on this ebay transaction, but have read some other threads that Japan is difficult (like always). Security Nazi's is an understatement.
I relatively understand these replies but don't really wanna get stuck with a "fried" phone through trial and error.
Do I need a SoftBank ROM?
If so, will I be able to unlock it through the methods in this site?
Will the ROM from an X01T work?
My old X01T, I had it unlocked and changed to English OS but all the unlocking was code based....I never had to input a code in this WIZA200 so I think the person unlocked it before me and I was just doing redundancy...???
Many thanks for your input.
Sent you a PM.

It's moot since he's not got a Softbank phone anyway, but the ROM itself doesn't lock the radio in, a program in the EXT_ROM writes the 1.14.01.10 radio, and then changes the bootloader (I think) so you can't change the radio. It doesn't lock a previously unlocked phone - I know because I have the black model and foolishly loaded the new ROM that locked the radio in, but my phone is still unlocked and supercid, which I'd done before flashing the SB ROM.

I don't think so, but you have a Softbank SIM from the crushed phone, right? Was that damaged in any way?
btw, does this ROM works with MMSlite? or it uses SB original mail program?
Hmmm...It sounds like there are great minds working on this
I had a reply from another thread with the same question and they are having kind of the same problem...I have seen this is several threads. from Japan users with unauthorized hardware.

Is it possible to manually go in and change the radio to 1.14.01.10 and is that the right ?freq? (I hope Im understanding this right). Also, do you know which files these are exactly within the phone and is it possible to go into my old one, copy the right files, change some wording and paste into my WIZA200? Where did you get the SB ROM, etc...?
hey, links are dead....
can I get a link to the Japanese Forum or to the rom.
many Thanks

Hi all,
Well this is my first real post on here, probably in the wronge section too. Apologies if that is the case.
Last night after backing up my stock phone etc, I installed the coredroid 3.2 stock on my phone through rom manager. This installed fine and worked briefly however about 30min later it lost my sim card and said 'no simcard'. I friends sims from other carriers and it didnt' say 'no sim card' but did say 'no service'. I tried 3 different sims in total all to different carriers. My phone was bought outright and is unlocked.
I quickly reverted to my backup and the same thing happened. I've since tried the latest nightly of cyanogen and still no luck but it runs very smooth otherwise.
Have i F%#$ my phone? Worst part is phone is only 3 weeks old and wife is not impressed..
PLEASE HELP!

well, if you flash custom rom, it's recommended to use their recommend radio.
but make sure s-off and eng s-off first.
if i were u, should give it a try, because you can't use your dhd as mobile phone either.
edit :
opps btw, have u tried your sim card to another phone? is it working ? if not working, then it's your simcard fault. hehe
but still, i'm personally will flash the recommended radio if i were u.
The simcard doesnt work in other phones either. When it is in mine it says 'no sim card'.
However when i use another simcard it simply says 'no service'. I will get another simcard tonight but will try the radio and pray it works!
Thanks for the advice, ill let you know how i go.
ya i pray for you. really hope u can use back your dhd , and get a new sim card replacement.
Ok,
Well i collected my new sim tonight and flashed to the recommended radio and ........still no service.
What is wrong with my phone? It recognises that i have an optus sim card but it still says no service (i am in a really good service spot for my provider so i know it isn't their problem).
So far i have replaced sim, restored backups, tried different roms, changed the radio....wifi works fine.
Please help, i'm freaking out, what an expensive paperweight i now have....save me!
IT's WORKING!!!
I have no idea why this happened but i thought i would install GAPPS and for one reason or another it got my phone working. My signal has returned and all is well.....for now.
Any idea why this would get my phone to work?
Thanks for the input.
Hey!
I'm having weird problems with my GNex. At random intervals it disconnets from the network and asks me for sim pin number. I've flashed 2 different custom roms (i'm on liquid beta 1 currently), tried sim cards from 2 different operators and no difference. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this and how to fix it?
I've googled and searched the forums and found an old thread relating to this on an HTC desire, but no solution there.
Pls help and ty
Hey,
This won't help you too much but I had the same issue with the last ROM I used, I've since switched to [ROM] Stock Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Deodexed/Odexed, Rooted, Unsecured Boot [Factory Image] made by teshxx and the issue has gone away.
Maybe give that one a go.
Cheers
Ty for help, but i think i've figured out the problem and have only myself to blame...
As I forgot to flash a new radio and RIL, the old one was apparently not quite compatible with the new version of android. Everytime the signal strength went down it disconnected from the network and asked to unlock sim. The latest radio and coresponding RIL fixed this (at least for now).
Ty for ur help
Help. I have an unlocked ls990, I am with MetroPCS and I have a metropcs sim card in the phone. On every single rom I've tried I cannot get any service at all. All of them say "no sim card detected" and when I look in the settings, it says I'm connected to Sprint. I get a "1x signal" and cannot make any calls ot texts. I can't seem to find any info anywhere about my problem
I first tried the *#*#DATA#*#* and tried to switch to LTE/GSM it said "searching for service" for a second but it just reset itself back to LTE/CDMA (PRL)
I then tried to look for APN settings. There was no option to select it. It wasn't even in the menu.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
Bump.
Really need help
I'm having the same problem right now. Can't get fix either!!!
Those Lollipop ROMs are aosp?
Sprint has not released Lollipop for G3
I fixed my device... I used CloudyG3, works like ah charm.
I have the G3 Sprint version LS990 with the same problem. did you flash baseband? which one?
Thanks
Just curious. Maybe a noob question, but what would flashing a different baseband do?
How can we enable GSM on aosp roms for LS990?. There are very nice roms here but not GSM. it just keeps switching between gsm and cdma.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I didn't want to make a new one with this already here.
I'm having the same issue. I have a Sprint ls990 but I rooted and went to Straight Talk. It was a pain, but I finally got it working on GSM for the last 10 months, so I know it's possible. I've been running CloudyG3. I have been having issues with the internal memory and I wanted to update to Lollipop anyway so yesterday I tried flashing new roms (I've tried BlissPop and OctOS). I'm not getting any service. I wrote down my old APN settings and tried them with no luck, and got a different set of APN settings from Straight Talk (not sure why there would be 2 different settings?) but no luck with them either.
I tried starting from scratch so last night I wiped everything, formatted the memory, and installed my nandroid that I took before I started all of this. Today all I've done is flash BlissPop and Gapps, still no service.
If anybody could offer any help I'd greatly appreciate it. I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous.
Edit: I wanted to update this in case there's anybody else having the same issue. I flashed Dirty Unicorns version 9.1 and my service came back. The only thing I can think of is that that rom is compatible with the Sprint ls990 and being unlocked for GSM. I'm sure there's somebody that knows more about it that can explain it better.
