I've got two gnex (gsm) devices, one was mine (until switched to nex 5) and one my wife's. They were purchased about 6 months apart, and both worked with stock roms for over a year.
At some point, my wife's device began working super slowly, and shortly after, it started rebooting randomly. The reboots became more and more frequent, and hard resets didn't help. I tried installing Cyanogen, didn't help. She switched over to my device and the same happened. Eventually, both devices somehow became soft-bricked - they're both stuck in bootloop, without any interference on our side (my device was still on stock rom).
I tried returning them to stock via the toolkit (didn't work), manually using fastboot (didn't work), and eventually flashed both of them to 4.3 using Odin, with re-partitioning and the whole shebang.. Nada. One device was flashed using Odin 3.07, worked for about one hour, then started bootlooping again, the other device couldn't get flashed with 3.07 (got an error on system.img write) so I tried with Odin 1.87 which completed successfully, but once reset it was still somehow on Cyanogen and still bootlooping.
I've tried all the methods I'm familiar with, and several different stock roms. Tried switching the batteries, fully charging them, even flashing from different PCs.. To no avail. As far as I can see, the only explanation right now is that there's a hardware issue, somehow in both devices.
Will greatly appreciate any input from you guys as I'm pretty much at a loss here. :crying:
i would say its hardware but try flashing multiple roms idk why when stock fails or CM i got full on rom switching and it fixs my problems
Similar thing happened to me, I bought whole new batteries for my two phones and it fixed it. The batteries went REALLY bad.

First i ran the phone with stock 4.0.2, and one morning when i woke up(the phone was in the charger) the phone was in a boot loop(turned off when the google letters came up), so I ended up with a factory reset.
Some days later I rooted the phone and installed AOPK rom and installed google apps. 2 days later it got into a boot loop again, but now it booted all the way till where I tyoe in the SIM code, if I did it really fast I could also get past the sim code but just seconds after it booted again. I tried everything from CWM, restore an older backup, wipe cache/data but the phone couldn't find the boot or something like that. So ended up push adb stock rom.
Is this something thats normal? I got 2 friends with the same phone, never had any problem, they both run stock 4.0.2.
I too had a problem with my Gnex, it kept freezing up and switching off, if you are getting this problem on stock and custom roms its likely hardware, so send it off to Sammy, just a heads up but mine was sent off 10.02.12 first time then 2 more finally they said thay would replace it .... That was a month ago, rang them yesterday and they said it would be another week .. what I'm getting at if your insurance could offer a quicker fix I'd go with that
Have you tried flashing google's stock images and going from there?
Yeah, I did flash 4.0.2 stock again from that site, been running it for 2-3 days now.
Device: Rogers SGH i747M Android 4.1.2 Rooted with CWM Recovery and AxisM ROM
Problem 1: Phone charges when device is on, when device is off constant vibrate cycle.
Problem 2: Can't connect Phone to PC..
Problem 3: When phone is on and charging and i remove charger the phone still says charging for about 30 seconds. So there is a 30 second or so delay after the phone realizes i unplugged it.
I had my phone rooted for a while now and it's been working perfect. Up until i removed the stock ROM and installed the cyanogenmod for at&t. Once i removed my stock ROM the problems began. I have attempted to use 5 different roms all same problem. I have tried 4 different USB cables, 3 different computers.. I have a second device that's a duplicate that works perfectly fine with the exact same rooting technique, same recovery version, had the same ROM. One works perfect other is sick with this new disease.
Any ideas and help guys?

At this point, I'd probably try flashing stock and doing a factory reset (backup your stuff first). Start fresh from there. If the issues persist, might wanna get a replacement but my guess is that starting fresh should fix w/e is going wrong.
Once you've tested fresh stock ROM, go ahead and try flashing/rooting to see if the problem comes back.
Okay here is the problem guys. I have my note three for three weeks now. Rooted it day one. But It seems with every phone I have addiction with flashing roms. I change around a lot. I have owned four devices this year. S4, note 3, nexus 4 and galaxy nexus. Rooted every device never had an issue that couldn't be fixed by flashing the stock tar via odin. The other day I flashed compulsion kernel and put me in a boot loop. So I did the natural thing and download the stock tar and flash via odin. First time was a bust. It said it was successful. Still put me in boot loop so I downloaded the stock tar from another location and tried again. Still no dice and still have boot loop. Tried flashing a custom rom after flashing the stock tar. Nothing still boot loop and I've also tried different recoveries and still nothing. I know its not hard bricked because I can still boot into recovery. I am actually a sales rep at a corporate tmobile store and did a warrarnty exchange and they are overnighting me another note three and I am going to send this one back. Little concerned as to having the rooted status on the device is going to go over. A couple times after I flashed the stock tar I got it to boot but then it would say "process system stopped responding wait or ok" then after clicked okay it reboots. I really hope there is someone out there with a solution.

For some reason my phone isn't booting up all the way to the rom/OS. It gets stuck on the boot animation and goes on forever and hasn't been able to boot up since yesterday, when my powered off at 20% battery, which is something normal for my phone. I was rooted and on android 4.3/MK4, but when I put it to charge and tried booting it back up, the phone would boot up, but would get stuck on the boot animation, going on forever. It wouldn't freeze it would just continue to play the animation. I tried removing the battery, factory wiping it, and installing a new rom, which I found out was for a different baseband. When i finished installing it it still wouldn't boot up all the way through.:crying: I then tried installing the previous rom, and still no good. After all that I installed a stock firmware using odin, hoping it would work. I installed the 4.4.2 NE2 firmware, which isn't for my phone but watching zedomax's video, he said to download the latest build date, which is what I did. Well, downloaded it and flashed it through Odin with a PASS and everything going good. Although, when it was rebooting-even after a factory and cache wipe-it still wouldn't boot up. I tried installing other firmwares aswell, but still no luck. I'm just waiting for it to finally boot up, so if anyone can help me out, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT, otherwise, anything is going to help at this point. Since I flashed the firmware, I now have a stock recovery and rom(I hope). I've been through these types of situations, but not to this point.. :crying:
It seems odds, but you may want to try a new battery. I recently went through a total disaster with my device and it ultimately was the battery. You may want to try booting with it connected to the a/c wall charger. It may give you an indication.
Have you tried the quick fix posted? My phone did the same thing when i had the stock recovery it showed error mounting efs folder. I noticed after installing clockwork that error didnt show up. It was still the same problem though. Wouldnt hurt to check it out. I got my note two from a friend who described the issue starting the same way you said happend to yours. The phone had never been rooted though. Good luck to you in trying to fix it.

Hi.
Apologies for my stupidity in advance, but i need some help.
I recently rooted my samsung GalaxyTab s8.4 (SM-T700).
The root app wouldnt work, kept saying it needed to update but kept failing to update, so i reflashed it.
It worked, but now the screen would flicker randomly and it would reboot ranodmly.
I downloaded the stock rom to try and go back to the beginning and althouth it installed, now when i turn on the tablet it starts "optimizing apps", gets to about 170 out of 206 and reboots. Keeps doing this.
I downloaded a different rom to try get out of this, but in odin, it only gets as far as "SetupConnection", fails and doesnt update the tablet.
I have tried different usb cables, different ports, reinstalling the samsung drivers, rebooting my pc, different versions of odin and different rom's but all with the same result.
So i am stuck. is there a way to load on a rom using the microsd card? do i have any alternatives or is my device now a paperweight?
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks.
Amazingly, after letting it reboot about what felt like 20 times, it came back to life!
Unfortunately, it still has the screen flickr & reboot issue, which i believe ( from googling) is just the lastest lollypop release for the s8.4 not being good.
Is it possible to roll back to kitkat?
did you do a full wipe?
