That's most likely due to the bug that was in earlier versions of TWRP. What device do you have i.e Verizon, T-Mobile, International WWE. More specifically perhaps, what's your CID?

Yeah being SuperCID isn't going to help much with going back to stock. Don't you know what CID you had before you changed to SuperCID? Or what device you had? AT&T branded phone, T-Mobile, International WWE, if it's some of the big "names" then perhaps we can still refer to some backups etc, if its something like TIM Italy then
Unless you want to convert to International WWE seeing as you're S-OFF?

There I have some links to Verizon stuff. Including a link to the stock recovery and backups.
[GUIDE] RETURN TO STOCK(Mostly)
Also for Verizon. I'm pretty sure there's an RUU for Verizon as well, you could always run that and return to stock on your device.

Hello people,
I bought an HTC ONE X and it just happened to be a:
HBOOT: 1.12.0000
SW: 2.17.707.3
RADIO: 2.1204.135.20
CID: HTC_044
and this effectively corresponds to some Eastern Asian region. Nevertheless, I had my phone sim-less until I unlocked it, installed CWM, then installed this custom ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868200 It looks exactly like the stock ROM, but deodexed, zipaligned, etc...
Now I tried 2 different SIM cards, non of which work, the device is stuck on Airplane mode, deep-sleep is never entered, and the CPU CORES just happen to be locked at 1.4-1.5GHz all the time which makes the phone hot! The phone is typically unusable now to me. I tried all various kinds of fixes, resets, nothing works, what I am planning to do now is to re-install the original RUU, but I'm wondering what will happen to my HBOOT version? Will it stay the same? Any thoughts are deeply appreciated as I have researched a lot!
I'm glad I still have my Galaxy Nexus, modding was even simpler than changing the X's wallpapers
Oh and can I reflash another RUU? Europe 2.17.401.2 which has the same RADIO, is that considered a downgrade?

EDIT: BTW, I am not entirely sure that 2.1204.135.20 is my actual original radio, I noted it down after I flashed that custom ROM, and I see that there's another original RUU with the same base but a different radio 2.1204.123.18, could it be that this was my original ROM, and the new radio of the custom ROM messed things up?
If so, shouldn't I be downloading that other original ROM?!

Oh so it is based on SW version, thank you!
The thing is, there are a lot of details to pay attention with this device, CID, RADIO, SW... and I coming from a one-click-boom Nexus is overwhelming!
Can you please take a look at the edit I have made to the last post? I really appreciate your replies.

well, you don't need to look at the radio. you can try by the way to run a RUU and see if that installs... you have to know only your CID
Code:
adb getvar cid
or
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
and that number has to be the same of the RUU that you want to run, cause there are different RUUs for different One X smartphones

I've seen other people with the same issues and the same device! But the threads never end in a solution or any result, should i send it for repairs? I bootloader-unlocked it... warranty voided?
Hi everybody,
I've been reading a lot of stuff since now but still have some unanswered questions.
I want to return to completely stock as for insurance or warranty purposes.
I originally got an german HTC One M8 with T-MOB101 cid.
I unlocked the bootloader as the temp-root variant did not work for me, s-off'ed, changed cid to Supercid and flashed ViperRom.
But now I have to send it in to insurance company because my display glass broke after dropping my htc one off about 1 Foot...:crying:
So how would be the optimal procedure to get as close to completely stock?
I know that after reverting everything the bootloader would still say relocked.
So my idea was to:
1. get an original T-MOB101 NAND backup and restore it (beforehand restore T-MOB101 cid)
2. flashing stock recovery
3. Removing Tampered (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51700320&postcount=1)
4. Setting Locked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571)
5. play over an OTA firmware.zip
This would lead me to a stock rom with OTA capability, but would still show me the red warning as well as S-OFF.
As an alternative I read about hex edited hboots to get rid of the red warning or even Mask S-off as s-on.
However in the according thread i could not make out an hboot corresponding to the T-MOB101 CID. So I tried it on my own after having a look at stock and modified hboots.
I edited my own hboot according to those modification but am too scared to flash it as it could hard brick my phone....
So I ask you guys, am I on the right way and what would you do ?

Well, actually I would agree, but as they turn on the phone and a red warning pops up I could think of any crazy reason why they would deny the repair or exchange ^^.
Whatever that reason might be that would result in a broken glass caused by the software
Does the red text dissappear if I return S-ON, officially relock bootloader, stock recovery and cid?

Well ok, I feared that. You're not accidently fit in Hex-Editing ?
As I said, I already backed up my hboot and edited it as the other hboots I founds with the wrong cid. But I'm afraid of flashing it without anyone else who knows something about hexediting took a second look at it.
Also does the hboot get overwritten by a NAND backup? So if I'll restore I would have to modify that hboot and not the one I'm currently at?

First you should flash the stock rom then stock recovery. This will remove your red text.then you should flash ruu.I would suggest not to change your cid.
Also if you are comfortable you can change your cid to supercid, mid to wwe mid then flash wwe fw and its recovery then flash the ruu. This will convert your phone to international htc with s-off and super cid and you will be able to take ota and you will have full 100% warranty.
Hey Jyotirdeb,
thanks for your input.
But there is still the problem, that I have to come to T-MOB101 firmware and not the WWE. Furthermore as far as I have read, the red text will only disappear if I flash stock recovery, stock ROM AND S-ON again. At least without a modified HBOOT.
Other problem is, that there are as far as i know no RUUs available for the M8 up to now. Correct me if I'm mistaken. At least I didn't find one, especially for cid T-MOB101.

It is true that you have to be on stock rom and stock kernel. But you dont have to be s-on you can be s-off.And yes as far as I know there is EU ruu (unbranded) maybe you have to wait for hTC to release Ruu for other variant.I am sorry I cant be of more help.
Hmm, strange thing, as I actually read it again that there must be s-on and everything stock, to get rid of it, but nevermind.
Really, where could I get that RUU from? As far as I know only the Sprint or Verizon Variant does have a RUU not the International One.
Furthermore would I need the RUU from T-Mobile as the release it with their branding, not HTC.

If you have an s-on device you can change bootloader status to relocked but if you have soff device you can change bootloader stats to locked so you will get 100% warranty.I dont know about version or sprint but the ruu is available for unbranded EU model.

Actually, on that site there is a RUU for unbranded phones only. For T-MOB101 they have a nand backup and firmware. I'm still thinking whether I want to use that. That is, I have a similar issue as the OP, I mean, I want to reinstall Android, although I'm completely stock, unrooted, etc. It's just that the Lollipop update screwed everything up and I'm hoping that reinstalling will fix it. Unfortunately, for CID T-MOB101 no RUU is available. So, I either have to use the backup and then flash firmware, for which I have to root and install custom recovery first, or I have to wait till HTC comes up with Android 5.1.
Hey guys,
I own an original unlocked M9 (1.32.617.30) and want to convert it to the international model for the quicker updates.
Just got it S-OFF and wanted to make sure I got the rest of the steps right:
1. Change MID to 0PJA10000
2. Change CID to 11111111 (or to HTC__001? which is better?)
3. Run 1.32.401.17 RUU (is it possible to run 1.40.401.8 RUU instead? or do I need to flash a 1.32 base first?)
Cheers! Trying to avoid a bricked phone

Who is your carrier?
You shouldn't need to change your mid. Just change to super cid and you can flash the latest firmware and any custom rom you want.
If you're AT&T, the 401 firmware should work seamlessly, you just probably will not get voLte. If you're tired mobile, 401 firmware should also work, but no Wi-Fi calling (you should confirm this because I'm really not sure). If you're Verizon or Sprint, I have no idea, but I think you're sol and have to wait until they release an update. .
Edit: nevermind about carrier stuff. Didn't see that you have dev edition. 401 firmware should all work.

Regarding the MID, it is only because it is listed as a step here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-one-m9/general/att-developer-edition-ruu-how-to-t3086948
And when you say "flash latest firmware" what do you mean exactly? should I install 1.40 RUU or 1.32.401.17 RUU first? I really want to know Im flashing the right file now that i'm S-OFF.

Probably you should ask in that thread and maybe clsA or someone else in that thread can give you specific advise. I assume you're looking to convert to stock 401/0PJA10000 and receive official otas?

You'll need to change the CID and MID to run another carrier's RUU.
Alternately, instead of an RUU, you can flash a custom ROM, or stock ROM (such as stock DevEd MM ROM posted in Development), which will work fine on LP firmware. This would require an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.

any danger in running that RUU?

As long as you follow the instruction carefully and exactly, there is little risk in changing the CID and MID. For the MID in particular, be sure to get the location correct for the parameter you are changing (the instructions advise to cut and paste the command, to prevent a typo) otherwise you can do some permanent damage.
Once you've changed to the proper CID, MID, running the Euro RUU is not any more risk than running an AT&T one. The phones are the same in hardware.

Hey guys,
I have a Taiwanese HTC 10 and wanted to install Nougat on it. It didn't work even with Bootloader unlocked and re-locked from Htcdev.com .
In the forums here i read, that you need to have to transform to the US version. And to do that you need S-Off (please correct me if I'm wrong).
While i was looking for Sunshine alternatives that are free and i found Moonshine (moonshine.io).
My question is if this can be trusted and really S-offs your device.
The 25$ for Sunshine won't be a problem if it really works and i can transform to US and install any RUU Rom for Nougat (official of course).
What have your experiences been with TW 10s?
The only option to s-off the device is Sunshine. Moonshine doesn't work anymore on any device.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Will the To to us to nougat thing work?
I don't want to spend the money for nothing.

If you're trying to install U.S Unlocked ruu then you need to have unlocked cid and mid. Right now you're using U.S cid but your mid is wwe.
If you're trying to flash a US RUU, the MID needs to be 2PS65000, NOT 2PS62000
