[Schematics Inside] USB OTG + Charging - Nexus 5 Accessories

I know that there are a LOT of topic about USB OTG while charging but I haven't found a good answer to this "problem".
There are people which achieved it using this cable (Please check Y_Cable under attached files) but there are also a lot of people which say that it's not working.
While googling I found this schematic and I can't really figure out why this should not work
I'm under 10 post, please check Y_OTG_Cable under attached files.
I also had an idea about a separate charger for phone and usb device, here's my schematic, I do not know if it this can work but I really cannot see why
Please check OTG_Charger under attached files.
What do you think?

Male mini USB to standard female USB

So I found this Mini USB that plugs into the bottom if my T-Mobile Wing(HTC herald) I'm using the standard WM6 with no mods at this time. I was wondering if anyone here had ever used these for anything. IE can I plug a flash drive or camera into it and possibly with some app utilize my device to so. I searched and didn't find anything similar so i thought you guys might have some interesting ideas. thanks
in general no htc device (besides the 7500 and 9500) are able to host usb so far, as far as i know. i am not sure whether that is a real hardware restriction or a driver issue. maybe you could post a link where you found that, and what the actual purpose of that thing is and we could have a look into it, i would love for this to work, but i still doubt that

Micro-USB Y-cable

Hey guys,
I am looking for a micro-usb y-cable, not as you might thought one of these:
micro usb--> 2 usb slots as you find tons of it in the internet (sorry im still not allowed to use outside links for a picture )
It should be a cable where you get 2 micro usb-slots at the end.
I dont want to charge faster with it, my idea was to connect a mhl adapter and a usb otg cable at the same time. If someone knows a place where to get this cable is it possible to implement my idea?
EDIT: Oh sorry, I had the wrong tab open so i posted it in the wrong thread. I apologize for it and would like to see it deleted or to get it moved in the "Accessories Thread". Or is it possible to delete it myslef?
EDIT 2: thanks.
i would also like to know this, any info?
Interested as well
I bought this

I don't think you can have both USB connectivity and HDMI connectivity (through MHL adapter) at the same time. It is an either / or thing. The microUSB port can be either a USB host, a USB slave, or video out through MHL.

I searched in the sgs2 forum and didn't find that thread lol but I wonder what would happen on the note if we connected both mhl and otg, which, if any, would work.

OTG Cable with power input?

hey guys looking for a OTG cable that will allow me to charge my phone while using my mouse or game controller?? cant find one or even know if its possible, sorry if wrong forum
There's no way to charge the phone while using USB OTG at this point. There are some possibilities that some of us are checking out. You can find an ongoing discussion at

Usb Hub

Hello there,
I've got myself an OTG cable, and if I connect a mouse, it works.
If I connect a keyboard it works.
And now I connect them both with a usb hub, doesn't work?
How can I solve this?
I've got already an OTG helper app.
Usb hub is a sitecom cn-060 and I'm on the galaxy note n7000
Anyone?

I've been diggin in the USB OTG feature as well.
Idk if you're question's been answered, but My best guess is that you're gonna need either an MHL with external USB port to provide power, which you can keep the pin arrangement standard, but it'll only work if powered by an A/C charger, or if you splice it and isolate the data +/- pins, then it'll still work if plugged into a computer or something of the sort...
There's some guides here on XDA that I've read, and ended up making my own, which seems to work better than the one I've gotten in the mail.
ANOTHER Solution, however... Use a POWERED USB hub, sourcing from your OTG cable..?
Cause I'm assuming that your device is capable of powering EITHER the Keyboard, OR the mouse, not both...
So providing power via powered usb hub should render them both active, and usable by your device...?
Idk, just figured I'd put it out there to ya.
If it helps, hit the thanks button!

Here's a pic of my OTG+PWRD-HUB setup...
And I took it to paint.exe and tried to outline it / highlight the important parts in the pic...
My paint skills are far from honed... =/
Also, sometimes you have to
plug/unplug OTG from phone,
and sometimes you
gotta switch the
order of the
2nd+3rd steps...
It Varies...
And if you have ROOT, which I'm gonna assume you do, KERNEL TUNER is a GREAT app, and in this scenario it helps me out too... if you don't know about it [forgive me if you do] it has a "MISC" section, where you can actually enable OTG over a regular USB Cable [My guess is it grounds the bus for the ID-Pin on the microUSB plug] which can be helpful in determining certain issues with OTG [make sure Fast Charge is disabled, for good measure, both in app and in ROM]...
Using that feature of Kernel Tuner in conjunction with ChainFire's "USB Host Diagnostics" app can REALLY help you narrow down and pinpoint the finer details of your scenarios. =]
That's mainly just for the sake of verification.
At one point in time I thought my old HUB was powered too, just cause when I used it with my laptop, the thumbdrives I plugged into lit up, lol.
But if your setup is similar, then the only thing I can think of that might be holding you down is the order in which you connect everything?
Idk, I'm no Dev [FAR from it], but I figured I'd put that out there, since this thread was up.
Didn't look like it was being deleted, and noone directed you to the USB OTG Help Threads in this Forum.
[I would have directed you, but as mentioned, Idk where they are, Haha]

Need OTG Advice/Information

Hello,
Long time lurker. First time poster.
I have a 10.1 Note Model # SM-P600 that I have set up in my car. Currently, the charging works fine via micro USB to engine/ignition accessory. Now that I have the initial steps completed, I am looking to add more stuff to the setup. I purchased a USB hub in order to connect a few different devices (USB DAC, External HDD, Camera, etc) along with a few different OTG cables. So far, I have not had any luck charging the device (although, I am able to access devices connected to the hub via the OTG cable). I understand that this is a common problem, and it seems that it has been solved on some devices (Nexus 7) by installing different kernel's and USB ROMs (not sure what this is?). However, I have only seen one bit of information in regards to the SM-P600, and that is the BinDroid kernel that I have found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615959&highlight=otg
I flashed the kernel correctly (I believe, I see the kernel information showing up in my device information), but I am still not having any luck getting the device to charge while having the other pieces of equipment attached. Can anyone give me some good solid info on this problem? I thought I'd be able to install the kernel and that would fix my issue, but maybe I'm missing a few steps? Do I need to install something else? I am currently on the stock ROM, version 4.3. I was thinking about putting CM10.x on the tablet, but I don't think that it's supported...? I need a bit of clarity on that as well.
Please help if you can. Thanks!
P600 needs 2A current. I think when you attach other equipment to the USB hub, it may not be able to provide enough current to note so it will not charge. I am not an electrical engineer so someone with more knowledge can of course prove me wrong
Generally when your device is connected with an OTG cable, your device is working in as a USB host supplying power to the devices. In your case, your Note will try to supply power to the USB hub. Even if your USB hub is powered by a separate adapter, your Note will not attempt to charge as it is in USB host mode.
You might wanna take a look at this mod.
