Arc LED Notification light.

I thought the Arc had a notification light on the Battery charging light but cannot find the settings in the menu & when i get a message via gmail, there is no light just a notification in the bar??? Does anyone else get a flashing light if so any idea where the settings are.

Just did another test & the led light does flash. But when you press the power or home key (which displays the lock screen) the led stops flashing which is silly as you can easily press the home key in your pocket.
Is there anyway to leave the led light flashing until you swipe & unlock the phone, or to disable waking up the phone by pressing the home key.

i think Led always stop flashing after the screen comes on. This was also on my nexus. didn't com across something to keep it flashing while the screen comes on.
Anyways i don't like the led location, i never see it.

Agree Stupid place to put it, but at least it has one unlike LG & Samsung phones. hope it is possible to stop the phone from waking by pressing the home key though.

I want programmable notification lights like the X1 had.
My X1 still works, but it lacks any decent software to make it work well.

I love it! I ordered a PDAir case with a cutout for the light so I can see it witout taking it out of the case.

Anyone tried Light Flow app?
I hope we can use the lights of the buttons under the screen as notifications too

I m using light flow. There is no lights on the button but I can email the developers on this

Light flow apps can overwrite this setting and more

Would be very nice to have the option for the 2 lights in between the 3 front buttons to flash with notifications aswell.

lol mine 3~4 year old x1 is good as death, had a good run with it. i loved the phone

This was exactly what i was thinking of, it would be great.

That would be BackLight Notification (BLN) it exists for samsung phones that doesn't have a LED.
But it needs a modified kernel to work. So we have to wait for SE to unlock the bootloader and someone to adapt the kernel for bln to work.

It's possible in a cyannogen mod rom under led setting... we'll have to wait for custom roms to use it that way..

Could anyone pls post a pic on how the notification light looks in reality..havent been able to find a single picture yet of the same to make a sound judgement on the positioning of the notification light ...pls

Try the app 'Blink', it's for free on the market place.

has anyone found a way to make the 2 LED lights work for notifications?

Any news on this topic? Will it be possible without rooting the device?
Would be perfect if I can use the front-leds of the device for notifications.

When i get a message etc, the notification led on the right side of the phone comes on.. but not the one on the front.. is there a way to enable the one of the front?

thanks for clearing that up... from a design point of view.. think it would have made more sense to have the notification light on the front.. are there any apps that will turn on the button lights when you get a message?

Odd behaviour when on a phonecall

Say you are on a phonecall and you press the HOME key and not the end call key.
The screen will constantly flash off and on and the topbar has a green ting to it. It is almost impossible to then drag the topbar down to switch back to call before the screen blanks again.
I am guessing Android is getting confused between "turn the screen off since on a call" and "user wants homescreen"

hmm... doesn't happen when I tried it. Could be your proximity sensor.

That's just an indication to say there is an active call... Don't drag the green tinge, just press it to open the call screen again. Also useful if you need to look at an email etc while in a call.

This is NOT normal. The screen should stay on! Mine goes to home screen & stays on if I press the home button when in a call! (Perhaps you have something near the proximity sensor which is causing your screen to turn off!)

As Tomo1971 said, this is normal. Green glows on-off to alet you that a phone call is in progress.

top led notification lights? Do these work?

the two next to the camera up top? Just bought this phone used, are they supposed to light up when you get notifications like my LG revolution did or is it just the pulsing light at the bottom as the alert?

The top two things you see are light sensors. When you cover they turn off the screen to prevent you cheeks from hitting buttons while in a call.

The led is on the bottom. You can use an app like Lightflow to color code your notifications.

Can you double tap the screen to wake?

Just wondering if when laying on desk do you have to lift the phone up every time to check messages.
Also how are the led notifications.

Some one working on the kernel from Google said double tap to wake was coming in a future update.

Double tap not yet.
LED notifications you can turn on (Settings -> Notifications -> Gear Icon -> LED option is there).
The LED is in the top speaker grill on the far left. I noticed this glow blue when new messages come in.

LED works great, I miss having it. No double tap of the screen or Raise-to-Wake which sucks a bit. However with the LED I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.

Two led's havent noticed yet, then again I dont even have a sims card or any app in mines yet.
Actually elementalx enables touch to wake which I'm playing with.

Have you enabled the LED notifications in settings? It is disabled by default. You need to manually turn it on.

Double tap to wake is available with a custom kernel

I read from an extremely ( and I cannot over emphasize the word 'extremely' enough . . . ) reliable source that 'sweep to wake' is much more responsive and bug free.

I can remember tapping away on my nexus 6 and saying 'what the heck', . . . . and 'come on' . . . .
and then I went to the sweep thing and it was rock solid.

I doubt they are going to add it after the fact. I could be wrong but I just haven't seen them do that in the past so I'm skeptical.

I believe it's been (unofficially) confirmed by one of the pixel kernel engineers that it was pulled at the last minute but will return "soon"

I have enabled the LED, I get colored notifications from K9, SMS, etc.... I have yet to see any LED except the one immediately to the left of the earpiece speaker.
Could you point out where both are? I'm curious about there being two.... you sure you're not seeing the same one? The LED can produce a wide range of colors, including white.

Ah you are correct. My eyes deceived me by the brightness of the LED when white.
My mistake.

Yeah LED when colored is really dim. White is super bright though.
Side note, I somehow managed to lightly scratch my screen in my pocket even though its Gorilla Glass 4. :/ I guess its super sensitive. Bought some Cerium Oxide on Amazon hoping that might buff out the scratches.

Sheesh I havent noticed the second led I see the one in the headset speaker but where is the second one? I am wondering if my defender case is covering if up

in the new update released only to Canadian devices it includes double tap to wake and lift to wake.
