I thought the Arc had a notification light on the Battery charging light but cannot find the settings in the menu & when i get a message via gmail, there is no light just a notification in the bar??? Does anyone else get a flashing light if so any idea where the settings are.
Cheers
Just did another test & the led light does flash. But when you press the power or home key (which displays the lock screen) the led stops flashing which is silly as you can easily press the home key in your pocket.
Is there anyway to leave the led light flashing until you swipe & unlock the phone, or to disable waking up the phone by pressing the home key.
i think Led always stop flashing after the screen comes on. This was also on my nexus. didn't com across something to keep it flashing while the screen comes on.
Anyways i don't like the led location, i never see it.

Agree Stupid place to put it, but at least it has one unlike LG & Samsung phones. hope it is possible to stop the phone from waking by pressing the home key though.
I want programmable notification lights like the X1 had.
My X1 still works, but it lacks any decent software to make it work well.
I love it! I ordered a PDAir case with a cutout for the light so I can see it witout taking it out of the case.
Anyone tried Light Flow app?
I hope we can use the lights of the buttons under the screen as notifications too

Would be very nice to have the option for the 2 lights in between the 3 front buttons to flash with notifications aswell.

This was exactly what i was thinking of, it would be great.
That would be BackLight Notification (BLN) it exists for samsung phones that doesn't have a LED.
But it needs a modified kernel to work. So we have to wait for SE to unlock the bootloader and someone to adapt the kernel for bln to work.
It's possible in a cyannogen mod rom under led setting... we'll have to wait for custom roms to use it that way..

At 3:00 Minutes.
has anyone found a way to make the 2 LED lights work for notifications?
Any news on this topic? Will it be possible without rooting the device?
Would be perfect if I can use the front-leds of the device for notifications.

My very first phone was a old Samsung that had a bright blue LED that flashed letting me know I had a new text message or voicemail or missed call etc. (You could see that thing flashing a mile away)
That is one feature I really miss because I often leave my phone sitting on my desk that Im not around very much and repeating notification tones are out of the question.
Is there a way to use the service LED's as notification lights?
I will PM you a link to get a good one... Just check your messages...

This is a fine program.
This program is cool. Thanks. Only problem is the flashing LED alert is too much like the phone service LED. Its stuck in my brain that slow flashing green light is meaningless. Any way to make it use the different colored LED's ??

I know.. I'd like to see the low battery light and the bluetooth light flash alternating.
I think that is possible but I think you might have to edit some registry for that to occur...
what colors are all there? blue, green and orange? or are they multicolor led?

I know that if you use a DontForget with PPC you get the choice of colour of LED "from reading there website" but not sure if possible on SP?
May be worth asking in general forum if anyone knows the reg settings needed?
This is not possible to manage LED (only blinking / off) on HTC s620.

That might work. Didn't think about that.

I got my Z a couple of weeks ago and my phone seems to do this straight out of the box??
eg - I get a txt and the trackpad light blinks. If I have a missed call the the LED at the top of the phone flashes.
Although, I was going to ask the question to see if I can get the LED to blink when I receive a txt because sometimes you cant always see the track pad flashing depending how the light is hitting the phone (if its laying flat for example).
I will also try the suggested app
Yea.. my G2's trackpad ring just slowly pulses if there's a new notification.
I believe the app causes the led to blink more frequently.

Yeah I actually though the stock trackpad notification on my phone (DZ) didn't work. But I found it was actually blinking every 10 secs or slow - which is too slow for me to have a quick glance at the phone to see if I've got messages.
Also, I have my phone in a vertical pouch, with the power button at the opening. So with Led Me Know and the LED notification set, I only have to pull the very top bit of the phone out of the pouch to check the LED.

Indeed, make sure it's on. Also, there's a "test" option within the app to let you see what it's going to do when it gets a notification.
If it's still not working, try removing the app and reinstalling it again.
Heya! I thought i'm gonna ask this before calling service or something. The problem is (yey!) notification led.. I've tried enabling/disabling it from screen settings and from light flow (paid and free versions) and i haven't seen any life from it. Led testers and everything else gives same results.
Someone has another test method for me or am i forced to call for Samsung?
Service company told me to call Samsung (ROFL?)
Hey this may be done already but when you test the notification in lightflow did you turn the screen off?
I know lightflow will only work and show test notifications if the screen is off. Sorry if you did this already but I thought the same when I got my Nexus.

One more question tho - i have set up the mod for charging battery : notif light lights up and stays on all the time while battery is charging.. Can this do any harm to led light or phone itself (heating etc)? Or it is intended so it can stay on for long time ?
I had light flow on my galaxy nexus. Although the features are nice, i uninstalled because it seemed very broken. The led would stay on evwn after i checked notifications and so forth. Yeah it was cool, but just didnt see the risk of burning out my led.
For me it works like charm .. But only think i want to know is this :
Can led stay up for longer time ? Like, for example, the HTC Sensations led is staying up for all time while you are charging (by default), and it doesnt burn out. So is GN led designed to stay up for long time, or no ? (Im asking this because i want to know if i can charge the phone whole night and have led turned up)
Thanks again folx
Yes it can! Start LightFlow, choose notifications"then pick the app of your choice. There you can able and enable (amongst many other options) the duration of how long you wish the led to stay on for that particular app.

LED's have a life of many thousands, if not, tens of thousands of hours. It's unlikely that the notification LED will ever burn out while you own that phone... Unless you keep the phone for six or seven years and keep the led on almost all the time!
If your led burns out consider it akin to winning the lottery.

Thank you all. ! I really like multi colored led.. I liked it on n900 (back in the old days).. I like it again I simply like when im charging the phone to have my led on all the time
Thanks folx
Ive let mine to constantly show an orange light while i leave the phone on charge overnight and a green when it is charged. Led's wont die on you unless you keep your led on for like 6years straight, so nothing to worry about

Yeh I found the same thing, seemed really broken to me, was so annoying to get rid of notifications and then still have the led going off.
Guys just a quick question. I think this led is three colors right? Red, blue, and green and to get other colors it just mixes them right?
If you guys use colors other than those three I mentioned do you guys kind of obviously see that theres more then one color shining?
Like for purple it looks like purple on top and redish on bottom. Clearly like two colors.
Anyone? Just wanna know if its how others have it or just me??

Sure it does
I have Light Flow set up to show a solid yellow color while charging. When I plug in my phone, the LED blinks on then off. If I turn the screen off, the yellow light cones on like it should. If I then turn the screen on without unlocking the phone, the light remains.
Only after I unlock the phone does the LED not function.

I found that problem was because of the ROM I was on. Some ROMS would need me to launch the lightflow app to clear the notification, but I use CND and it works exactly like it is supposed to. I could flash AOKP and it would work how you describe.
Does it have any kind of effect on battery life? Seems like it would keep the phone awake.

Its the best looking notification light among all phones out there. At least its not the dull pulsing dot. I always thought the notification light is such an opportunity for the phone to look unique, like make a thin border around the samsung home buttons a NL. Instead manufacturers just put in a dot somewhere like an afterthought. Oh well, at least its better than apple where theres none.

Thats the point of the stamina mode, aint it? It turns off all "goodies" on the phone, so to speak, to obtain better battery life. Maybe try combining Stamina Mode with a third party LED controller?

Its not selective. Stamina mode is simply that - only basic phone (radio) functionality is left on, nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes, even that TINIEST bit of juice matters (think James Franco ). Would you rather make a call or stare at the pretty light for 127 hours

Ohhh good idea, thx !
Light Flow doesn't make a difference.
I allowed it to be active during standby but no change.
As soon as I turn off Stamina Mode it works fine.
The light is sexy, I'm likely going to just use NFC smarttags to turn on stamina mode (if I can) at night and manage it that way.
Maybe Sony can address this or maybe I'm not getting the whole point of Stamina Mode
