I read in an unboxing that the Moto 360 hates the LG G3 and could not get notifications working which concerns me as I use a G3. Anyone have this phone having issues? If so what issues?
That would suck if true I'm using a g3 till the x comes out. What would make it behave differently then the g watch? Motos connection app?
I am running a G3 rom on my G2 and get notifications no problem.
I'm using a G3 on T-Mobile and it works great.
Same here I have a T-Mobile g3 and no issues with the 360. Except for pitiful battery life. I also have the Samsung gear live. And use to the battery on it. Hoping it will get better as time goes by. My Samsung did so who knows. Loving the watch other than that.
T-Mobile G3 here, works 100% no issues at all. Right as I was writing this I actually got a notification, lol. It's all good!
G3
I have a T-Mobile G3 as well and the watch works great.....except...I did notice it has been draining my battery a lot more then my LG G Watch. With the G Watch I felt like my phone actually had better battery life since I wasn't pulling it out all the time, but now my G3 seems to draining much faster then it normally does.
Took a few extra attempts on my T-Mobile G3, but it's working like a charm now.
TMobile LG G3 here and it works just fine. no issues and that includes battery. It came off the dock at 8am this morning which was 12.5 hours ago and its at 74% battery life. I've used it quite a bit today. Lots of notifications, heart rate checks, etc. I've not experienced poor battery life on it yet and no, I haven't charged it during the day.
Does anyone use Hangouts for texting? do you know if notifications for texts within hangouts will show up through the M360?

I have a ATT G3 and use Hangouts for messaging - Everything works great so far, I can send and receive text right on the 360.
Verizon G3 here, just got my 360 last night. No issues yet. Receive texts, gmail and exchange emails.
Works flawless on my G3

I have noticed the same issue, today my Bluetooth consumed 38% of my battery. When I have had other blue tooth devices connected I have not noticed any battery drain. I wonder if there is an issue with Bluetooth LE on some of the G3s.

All notifications work on my Moto 360 using my LG G3 855. Only issue is that you cannot reply with voice to texts on the moto 360. You have to use the hangouts in order for this to happen. Which sort of sucks
Also have a T-Mobile G3 and have had no issues with my 360. All notifications are pushed just fine.

Indeed, as you say,
i have a Rogers (canada) G3 and it works perfectly... i get all my cards, notifications from BBM, Hangouts, Whatsapp, Corporate Email, gmail, sunrise and stock calendar, incoming calls (can't talk through it obviously, but it helps when u have a BT headset)...
all is good ; > loving it.... and people notice it in here in Toronto ; >
So due to my Verizon contract situation (need to add a line for a family member anyway, don't have unlimited data) I have the option to get a Droid Turbo for $99 after rebate and give them my G3 instead of getting them a G3 or a Turbo for the same $99. In that situation, what are pros/cons of the two phones? My current thinking:
LG G3 Pros
1) Edge to edge screen gets you an extra 0.2" of real estate for same size phone
2) Removable battery (and I got a 2nd battery + charger from the promo by emailing LG)
3) Micro SD slot (for storing photos/video + caching majority of my Google Music)
4) I actually use the IR blaster for my projector/soundbar/cable box)
5) Thinner/lighter + good handfeel with curved back. I didn't like the 2nd gen Moto X when I held it, don't see how Turbo will be different unless I get the Ballistic Nylon backing
Droid Turbo Pros
1) Presumably smoother/less laggy between the 805 and close to stock Android. I don't really game on the phone but might start once things look pretty enough (do run Drastic's excellent DS emulator though, although that feels like it runs better on Tegra hardware)
2) Should get Android 5.0 really quickly
3) Camera - 21MP is a beast, and 4K video is nice to have even if I probably won't use it at 24fps. I assume the Panoramas get fixed soon + can always use 3P app. I never got any value from the LG G3 laser focus and in fact thought the camera was one of the few unsatisfactory things about it
4) Battery life despite the "2 day" controversy. Also nice to have wireless charging/really fast charging. However, I already replaced the NFC with a Qi + NFC from Aliexpress on my G3
5) Ooh look it's new and shiny (this is currently the biggest reason I am considering switching, stupid I know)
6) For whatever reason, mic or connectivity, Moto seems to do better when it comes to call clarity, I find the G3 a step back from the G2, and if the Turbo is like the 2nd gen Moto X it will be better.
Question Marks:
1) Recent Verizon LG G3 bootloader unlock. Assume I can flash debloated Android 5.0 shortly and get a similar experience. Also worried that Turbo won't get unlock as Verizon exclusive limits dev community appeal somewhat
2) LG G3 corporate email (exchange) app was near unusable but seems to be a key fix in recent OTA (haven't taken yet). May be less of an issue with Exchange support in the Android 5.0 Gmail app (currently using Accompli, but it just came out of Beta and is still pretty unstable and doesn't always refresh consistently)
3) Screen - on one hand AMOLED but apparently brightness is pretty awful. I REALLY liked the G3 screen
4) Wifi ac - never got LG G3 to work right and I want to get value from my ac router, maybe Turbo will be better
5) Audio, not sure I love earpiece as speaker and low voltage headphones (I generally keep the volume all the way up when wearing IEMs with comply tips on flights - bad I know)
As you see from the endless replies, don't think anyone is going to talk you out of it.
All i have to say is - to me the DT is very very ugly - it looks almost akin to the Atrix 2 - *vomit*
And hardware buttons? - what is this 2009?
But whatever floats your boat.
. What were they thinking ... Holy Jesus on roller skates ! Its hideous ... No thanks .. G3 got me hooked

I bought the Turbo on release day, coming from the G3 and I plan to return it. I'm on my phone so can't type too much, but check out the Turbo sub-forum and you'll see many people complaining about worse WiFi performance, nylon issues with dirt, off-color and over saturated display, much worse camera, and only about the same battery life.
For me, the cellular radios are about the same within 1-2dBm, but WiFi is around 5-10dBm worse with the Turbo. The camera also is much worse, I made a G3 vs Turbo thread on the Turbo sub-forum, where I compared photos, they all lacked detail and weren't very good. Lots of people are complaining about the poor camera.
I also find the battery to be about the same as the G3, I was expecting significantly better.

There may be some legitimate reasons to,get the Turbo over the G3. But you didn't list any of them (like moto voice, car mode, etc, etc, etc). In fact, I think all the reasons you have listed have been debunked already.
Honestly it sounds like you just want the newest and shiniest thing - which is fine. But I bet you end up giving the Turbo to your family member and keeping the G3.

All i have to say is that G3 (2GB RAM) performs a lot worse that my Nexus 5, even Moto G (1st Gen) runs better with no lag at all. To me, this is absolutely outrageous for a high end phone in 2014. Id say Moto with that 805 chip is a clear winner!

Nope, I bet that before the end 2014 L will only come to F400 owners, whereas D85* owners will get L not before MWC in february 2015. The G2 in last year was treated the same.
It doesn't matter if the droid Turbo has a Snapdragon 805 processor (supposedly faster). If you don't optimize the phone settings it will still lag. My and my wife's D850 G3 doesn't have the lag so many here complain about. My Antutu test scores consistently in the 40ks with highest at 41252. Battery life as high as 50 hours between charge and that is with screen usage at 54% and SOT at 5 hrs 22 mins. I have gone 6 hrs 19 mins between charge with 21% battery remaining at 55% screen usage. Have over 50 apps installed on each G3.
Could you share your type of optimization you have been using?

Turn off location. If you must use location set to wifi network.
Turn off Google location reporting in location setting.
Turn off quick circle if not using quick circle case.
Turn off NFC, smartbeam, android beam when not using them.
Set display to 60% auto.
I don't use Facebook. My wife does, but she signs in & out when done.
I don't play games on G3. I have tablets for that.
I watch HD and 4k videos on YouTube.
I watch movies previews on Flixster.
Main uses of G3 are call, messaging, emails, YouTube, Flixster, camera, OfficeSuite Pro.

I agree that it will take forever for AT&T and Verizon to release official OTA. But as soon as the base version is released, ROM developers will work their magic to bring Lollipop to the other variations.

Hi guys
I'm using Optimus G E975 and I'm really happy with it, but I'm thinking about upgrade and I'm not sure which one to get. I'm gonna stick to LG, but can't decide between G2, G Pro 2 or G3.
Here I can get all 3 of them at street prices which are quite similar, G2 32gb for 290 eur, G pro 2 32gb for 310 eur and G3 16gb for 340 eur, so money is not really a point that makes any difference when choosing.
I'm posting this here in G3 section because I suppose that there are G3 owners who had G2 or G pro 2 before G3. For me on paper G3 seams like an obvious choice, but I'm really concerned with the issues people report. Battery life seams to be just awful from what I have red, random shutdown problems, overheating problems, screen not that great... G2 and G pro 2 seam like safe bet phones regarding this issues. Thing that are the strong points for me for G3 are mostly its size (best screen to phone size ratio), its the newest so I suppose it will get at least one more official update and slow mo video option. I don't really care about 4k screen or little faster processor, and that are the main differences between these 3 phones.
Only thing turning me away from G pro 2 is its size, but it has everything else like sd card slot, removable battery, almost the same camera as g3, slow mo video even 3gb of ram for that money.
Any thoughts, opinions and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

custom rom on G3 and you are ready to go. (i am satisfied with this phone especially after G2 problems, G3 almost no problems, only that i have ripple screen)
Is that ripple bugging you a lot? I mean, is it strong ripple or just mild?
Also, are there good stock based custom roms? Which one are you using? I wouldn't wanna loose any of functionality with cm or aosp roms...

I have the Samsung S4 active and LG E980---both rooted and the S4 active has Lollipop and faster processor. Guess which phone I use? The LG! The battery life on all my Samsungs just can't compare---they're at 20% by 8:00 PM where the LG is at 60%. Also, the LG is faster and rarely seems to get bogged down. I am curious about the G4 though and it's either that or possibly the Moto. I'm done with Samsung---too much bloat and crap.

But is the G4 a definite step up, or is it a lateral move? I remember looking at the specs for the G3, and it seemed that the OGP still had some Better specs in certain areas. So, if we migrate over to the G4, what if anything will we be losing? I might wait a bit and see if the G4 Note becomes a reality...
Edit: if you like a bright white screen, you might not be happy with the G4. When i did a side by side comparison between the G4 & the OGP, I noticed that the G4 was much dimmer than the OGP, and it had a distinct blue tint instead of the bright white I'm accustomed to. Both phones were set to m max brightness. I'm not sure if the G4 has any sort of tint or tone settings to have caused the blue-ish screen, but it was definitely set set max brightness. It reminded me of the coloring on an Amoled from a Note 2. One thing of note though...when viewed by itself, the G4's screen looked fine! But when placed side by side, there was a marked difference...
Let snapdragon 820 phone come. I will upgrade rather 808 or 810
I miss the home button LED on the ogp.
I played with the G4 twice in the store. The G Pro and the G4 both have the same size screen, but you get more screen to use on the G Pro when you factor in the G4 having onscreen buttons. I wish they had made the G4 with a 5.7 inch screen like the LG Stylus.

Quite honestly, maybe I'm missing something. I messed around with the G4, G3, Samsung S5, S6 and the Nexxus 6 and I noticed very little difference in the LG E980 and these other phones. Screen--not much difference. Reaction time---almost the same. Size---same, thickness---slightly better but nothing crazy.
Honestly, about the only phone I thought was "exciting" was the Iphone 6 plus. But I want external memory and removable battery. Just not excited to upgrade...is there something I'm missing?

Yeah you missing that you are crazy nut. Lol serious thought. I agree on pretty much everything. I do not think the last few years have made a big difference anymore. And the G Pro is probably the best phone you easily can buy for under 150 probably the best one anyway. Because most phones more expensive or same price range have build in battery and those after roughly 2 years aren't lasting anymore. I had to get a replacement for my G Pro because the battery drained within 3 hours. But isn't a big deal since it has a replaceable battery.

I moved from the G Pro to the G4. Battery life has been great so far, standby lasted a few days. On screen was near 6 hours with heavy use and the quick charge feature is great! Now that it's rooted and all of the bloat removed, it's an even better phone. The camera is very impressive and crisp. I still have my G Pro and love it however, I just don't turn it on much anymore. The G4 has impressed me to the point that my other devices really don't get touched anymore.

Hey everyone,
I have an option to return my Z2 to Amazon for full refund, and i am thinking buying either G3 or G2 or Samsung S5 so i will use it for some months and then switch to Nubia Z11 when it's out and give this one to my gf or stay with it, we will see.
I noticed that in Gsmarena, the endurance of G3 is lower than G2 (http://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3 - with 2 hours talking, 3 hours browsing, 2 hours video), i assume because of the screen. Do you manage to have a 2days battery with it? My Z2 can do that without a problem at the moment.
I can find G3 32GB the same price as G2 but i am thinking what's the best in general. The S5 goes a bit more expensive, but it has also the water-proof capability that its something nice too. The size of G3 versus G2 its something i am concerned, but it has better specs ofc.
Ty in advance for any possible help
I can't answer yours specific questions, but I own both and regarding the differences between G2 and G3:
G3 have a better battery life. I usually get more than 5 hours of screen time + 2 hours talking. I use the phone a lot so I can't say if will hold for 2 days or not. Depend on your use, I guess.
G2 feels smooth while G3 it's kinda laggish. Feels like G2 have better specs. Both are running custom rom and I have the G3 version with 2GB of RAM.
The size difference is not even noticeable.
Pictures are better on G3, but both have good cameras.
But that's just my opinion about the two phones and I'm not a "heavy tester" either.
You should definitely go with G3. Only point in which G2 is probably better is battery and not by much. In all other aspects G3 is better device and it is still officially supported. G3 already recieved Marshmallow 6.0 whereas G2 is mentioned not to be supported further than Lollipop. Especially if you can get both for same price, it should be a no brainer which device you should pick up.
If size is what matters to you the most, rather go for G2 than S5.
Galaxy S5 is utter trash. It was trash since the day it was released. Don't get it, you will regret it as soon you boot up the phone.
Thank you for your replies
In my case I went from 2GB G2 to 3GB G3 and G3 is much faster but G2 is more fluid. G2 doesn't drop as many frames as G3 but G3 is faster. Battery is same for me.

U can also turn off QHD which transforms the phone into a G2 with SD, removable battery, insane battery life and larger screen!
When you're ready you can turn QHD back on to watch movies etc....
Its not bad at all. I'm using it stock and is really fast especially with animations all turned off
