Hi Everyone,
I was searching everywhere for a desktop cradle and found one on eBay. Search up the item number: 220667636485
Any thoughts about it? Considering getting one.
I personally don't like the fact you put it on a stand then plug a wire on top. I like my cradles to plug in when I set the phone on it.
However since Samsung was moronic enough to put the charger on top we have to either use that or wait for the side one to come out if it ever does.
I like the fact they have a spot to charge a battery and the phone at the same time. But like previous poster i want a horizontal one.

Seems like the have the desktop dock in stock now.

Oh sure now that I buy a case that wont match up with it. LOL
Hey all,
This is my first post here.
Has any of you bought either of those products? They look really stylish and useful (specially the desk dock, which doubles as a USB hub and a 8 in 1 card reader).
Obviously, I can't post links yet, but you can look them up at MobileFun.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk. They are not really expensive either (around 15 pounds + shipping).
So, what are your thoughts on those products?
Many reviews i read (for the Dash Genie) said it worked well until the car got hot - then the phone slid on the tacky surface, and there was residue left on the phone. Sometimes a ring left on the dash.
Welcome to xda! Item looks useful. I wish samsung would expand their accessory line for their phones. I'd love a great windshield mount or dash mount/charger.

I have the Desk Genie and it does NOT stick to the back of the phone, whatsoever. Search for my post in the thread already created for this accessory and my review.

I'm actually pretty interested in the Desk Genie after reading about it but now you got me rethinking it. I assume you tried without a case on? I have the Amzer TPU case, which is fairly rubbery and grippy, so I wonder if that would allow the phone to stick to the surface better?
Any chance you can experiment with that if you have a TPU case lying around? Or maybe your general observations of if a TPU case would make a difference?
Also, since I assume the Desk Genie connects to the computer to charge, I assume that charging would take a bit longer due to the fact that you aren't using AC power? I assume you can still connect it to the AC adapter as that uses USB too, but then the USB ports on the side of the dock would be useless.

Thanks for the info. Do you use any type of case?
Only the "case" I made in my signature! I've tried everything to get it to stick to the aluminum battery cover, and it just won't do it, maybe it would work with certain cases, but if you're a anti-case person like me, then this won't work for you....
Great accesory!
So, I bought the Desk Genie, have been using it for about a week and I love it!
Contrary to the previous poster, I've had no problem whatsoever with it holding my phone, both in portrait and landscape mode. It even holds it with the otterbox commuter case on!
The product is very stylish and useful. Both USB ports work great and the card reader accepts Micro SD cards without adapters (I haven't run any speed tests).
It comes a mini USB-USB cable with which you connect the DG to the computer via a port in the back, and a power cable with which you charge the phone using one of the 8 provided plugs.
The phone recognizes it as charging via AC power! I found that very interesting, given that the DG is powered by the computer USB port.
All in all, I fully recommend this item. Wish I'd bought it sooner.

This means the data pins are shorted, just like in a samsung charger. Can you connect to mass storage with this dock?
FINALLY: A dock that charges both phone & extra battery. Maybe extended compatible..
http://cgi.ebay.com/DESKTOP-DUAL-CH...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item4aa6d894b2
About time... This seems to be extended battery compatible since the way it looks to sit in the dock is perfect. It wont interfere with the extended part as it doesnt sit deep into the dock and the extra battery charges the SAME time.
This looks like it might be the same brand that I used on my TP or TP2 that charged both the phone and extra battery with either USB or AC. If someone buys it, please report back if it does or not.
I might get it... 25 bucks tho ahh.
my brother's been lookin for this since day 1, I'll send it to him and see if he bites. If he gets it I'll post his review.
I was shocked when I realized that the one I purchased only charged either/or. Great post OP.
I like this one...ships from the US for $20...

The description in the op's link says the usb is for charging the handset and if u wanted to charge the spare battery u need to plug in the ac. Seems like the same deal with those either or deals.

But that one doesnt do extended batteries...
I personally have had this one for a few months now, I like it because I dont have to take off my case and it charges my backup battery's. The clear plastic thing is removable if you have a case on the phone. Once you remove the clear plastic thing there is no support for the phone. This has not been a problem for me. Still charges great!
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BATTERY-CHA...157306?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43a3195d3a
EDIT :
It does have a indent about the thickness of 2 battery`s so it might not work with all cases, depending on thickness of case.

This is the one to get, and has been discussed on the forums here a few months back. if you search for EVO dock you'll find the thread, but those Hong Kong ones are junk, don't usually charge both even though they say they do, take weeks to arrive and oftentimes don't fit right. The one from nakedcellphone is a quality dock, shipping is fast and you can charge an extended in the extra slot.

In the eBay picture, it looks like the cradle has only one USB port, is that true? If so, it still won't charge the phone and/or battery when the computer is off, unless you unplug from the computer and plug it into the AC adapter.
I work for sprint and we have had one for about two months now lol. It charges your phone and a secondary battery, with a wall plug in or USB. They are 49.99
So this cradle charges both the phone and a spare battery from either one usb cable or ac adapter? I currently have a kidigi cradle which requires two cables and only charges phone thru usb which makes it think its plugged into a computer even when its not. This is slightly annoying as it always has to prep the SD card upon every unplug from the charger and sometimes messes up some of the sense widgets. Not sure why.

You could have it choose to go to charge automatically. Then it wouldnt do that.

the one fireboy linked will charge both off the ac only. ive not used it via usb, so it may or may not, but it does not trigger the usb response you are talking about which some crappier docks ive used did

Yeah I have the default connection type set to charge only, and "ask me" unchecked but all this does is not put the usb symbol in the notification bar. It still thinks its charging via usb because the widgets always refresh and it always preps sd card upon unplug. Is this what you were talking about or is there another setting I am missing? Thanks.

Does this have the magnet in it that allows the phone to automatically go into dock mode? We just went to Sprint/Evo 4g from VZW/Droid and my current dock charges both phone & battery w/o putting in USB mode plus allows for dock mode which I use to silent all tones so I can sleep. Now I need something that will function the same way as that one as inexpensively as possible. I'm reading that lots of the cheap ones don't have this so I want to make sure that this one does from people who have one and speak English. Thanks!
Anyone bought onw of these? Any opinions?

Unless it's complete trash it's hard to beat the price.
It's a re-certified "official" dock (the one you could buy as a Sprint accessory). I bought two of them a while back. One works great, the data wires on the USB plug for the other one has just recently started to flake out. That's fine for me, it still charges and I only need data on the one connected to my PC - the other one sits on my nightstand for charging duties.

Wow, thanks. Guess I'll get one.
Any idea if it would work with an extended battery door? I would like to get a couple for work and home but I use an extended battery and it doesn't say if it will work or not. Any ideas?

It says on the ebay ad that it wont work wore with extended batteries.
"Please note: This docking station has been designed for use with a standard battery and will not work with an extended battery. Cell phone Not included."
OP, good find. Might have to snag one of these up.

Will it work with a case on the phone?
Nice find! I've always had good luck with refurbished stuff, so I'll try one. Can't beat it for $10, even if it craps out.

I had heard it doesn't, but maybe you wouldn't be afraid to take a dremel to it for only $10?
just got one of these for 7.99, same thing I think. Charging seems very slow, any idea whats up?
The one I looked at was just the dock and no cables. Do I need the dock for HDMI or can I just plug in the cable to it and then to my TV?
Hi,
After going through all possible options of connecting a wireless receiver to a magnetic charging port, and having no luck, I come up with something even more simpler.
Any soldering was not an option, as I wanted to keep my phone waterproof when I need it.
So I got these three things:
- Case. I was looking for something slim, preferably with covered magnetic port, since I'm not going to use it anymore. (this case I bought from aliexpress)
- MicroSD cover, didn't wanna ruin original. Cover has to be there, without it microsd will get lost.
- Wireless receiver itself. Any should do, but the longer is the cable the better.
After being using it for a month, even magnetic charging now feels like too time consuming to me )
Here's how it looks.
You cut the cover of the USB port and sd card slot? How could it be waterproof anymore?

Huh ? How so ?
It's only 800mA charging current on your wireless charger...that's like half of the original charger used with a magnetic cable(1.5A)
I see. I meant that it takes time, especially at night, to to align magnetic connector. As far as charging time, it takes about 4hrs.
I like this a lot. Thanks for posting. Where did you get the spare cover?
For me this would be most useful in the car. I'd still like to use the magnetic dock on my desk so now I'm off to find a dock-friendly case.
Do you have links to the stuff you bought for that?
How did you create such a small micro usb connector?
