first of all sorry for new thread as i narrowed down the issue..
my problem is that no matter which rom and gapps i use at the time of boot my battery temperature is around 65-70 c
and cpu temp is 50-55
sometimes the phone shut downs at boot only or sometimes luckily it works and i have to let it cool down and after some time the temperature of battery drops to 35-40 c ( which is normal i guess) and cpu temp is normal 40-50 c
and as soon as i do some task for eg installing app from app store or some file managing things the phone shows shutting down popup and it switches off( i am not able to note down the temp at that time as it happens anytime and when it happens i am not able to use the touchscreen )
and also if it working normal that is i am not doing some heavy stuff just some scrolling or image viewing it works fine but when i reboot the phone same problem again battery temperature around 65c
i am posting 4 screenshots from cpu temperature app
2 is of the just after boot and 2 taken after some time
and also just after boot the battery current shows too much i guess plz take a look (the changing curve screenshot)
fyi - i tried 3 kitkat roms 2 gapps, even tried downgrading recovery, flashed different radio, restored backup of a perfectly working rom from previous month.
thanks in advance

I think you will not find RUU for your main version if you are with hboot more then 1.39
i tried going to stock with a nandroid backup which id downloaded
i flashed boot.img from it then from recovery wiped everything and then restored the backup
and then i also flashed the recovery (which doesnot work i guess as i go to recovey it show red icon abouve a phone image)
anyways the stock rom started and i thought the problem was gone but as soon as i just done few stuff and it went shutdown and the back was very hot
is it a hardware fault or software? as because in fastboot and recovery the phone doesnt switches off.
and if it is hardware fault then would it be a battery fault or some IC got corrupted?
Probably hardware

It might help. I read that replacing the battery with hox+ battery will keep cooler.

but how ?
I have the same problem here (no root, LB, no TWRP or CWM)
I thought about flashing a custom rom with a different kernel (after unlocking, rooting and adding a custom recovery) with processor blueprints to keep my phone cool
but since you say a battery change could help, it made curious
how should it solve the problem, FaiselW ?
One thread shows that a one x plus battery fits in the one x. He also found that his phone was 10c cooler. Anyway i would change battery asap. 65-70c is a fire hazard.

Have you tried re-calibrating your battery?
Yeah dear I have tried but battery celebration apps required 100% charging for celebration.. but my device has always showing under 60% charging that's why its not works..

Is it in your status bar that it shows the incorrect value?
Try going to Settings > About Phone > Status
It should tell you the correct value there. If it still shows up as the incorrect value i believe it could be a problem with your actual battery.

In your case, you don't need an app for calibration. Since you can't get your phone to show correct status, reboot into Recovery, go to Advanced and Wipe Battery Stats. Reboot phone, Run Wifi, Bluetooth, Torch, Music and anything that could drain battery faster altogether until the battery runs down and switches itsef off. Try recharging and see the result.
Hope it helps.
Cheers.

Its happened to quite a few people since I've been around this forum, dont think anyone has pinned down a particular reason for it happening and the only explanation from HTC is that its a mobo fault........

May be its a mobo fault but this is truth that I am facing this issue after flashing cm7.2..!
I have been told this rom working almost perfactly and such a nice and smoother one but before I was used Sunabh Rom v.1.1 by Vibhus which is also nice rom and had never facing issue like this on my previous rom..

i have been experiencing the same problem with the battery .. doesn't seem to get past the 70% mark. I started noticing this few weeks into using CM7 ( currently using CM7.2 RC3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698029 the issue still remains) At first i found out that if i reboot my phone after putting it to charge , it would charge all the way to 100 %. But slowly that too started fading and now nothing i do gets it above 70%. even got a new battery to no avail, and i cant get more than 5 to 6 hrs with the battery .. the battery drain is incredible
am i using an incorrect kernel or something ?? any help is appreciated .. thanks in advance !
My opinion is its something to do with your phone itself, if it was software/kernel related we would all most likely get the same problem as we are all using the same piece of software.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I too have this problem mine does not charge beyond 79% sometimes 75%. With my experience this is too do with the kernel that CM7 uses. If I restart the device it will show 100%.
If I go back to the stock kernel the charging goes all the way to 100%.
Either my charger has broken or its the overclock-able kernel.
I have tried every other method out there.
The battery performance is good BTW.

Also mention something you've done after which the battery drained faster... (something done after rooting)...

I think its definitely setCPU. When i installed it my cpu freqquencies would change every second between min and max frequency(no matter what governor i used). The result:excessive battery drain
I think its because stock kernel doesnt support overclocking(or even underclocking)...May be the devs could explain it
After i did a factory reset, battery is ok now for me. No battery drain when kept idle for a night:good:
P.S. Also before reset my HW decoding(in video playback) wasn't working(now its ok)....any1 experienced this too?

I think it is the setCPU too, try to use no-frills, it is a tad better in my opinion, but stock kernel doesn't like non-stock settings that is for sure.
I upgraded to rc2.1 cz they told me that the battery drain will decrease, but its still the same

you need to reset the battery by the sounds of it, empty your battery tonight, run some games or put youtube on or something....there used to be an app on the market that would run gps\wifi\brightness all max etc and empty your battery for you....not sure if it's still there.....but when you do root you can clear battery stats which will make your life easier....but yea empty it, charge it while it's off and HOPFULLY everything will be fine for you also as a sidenote, i charge my phone with wifi on and internet radio playing in the night and charges to 100% fine
When should I clear the battery stats?

it's known to reset the "capacity" of battery, but personally i don't believe it.
Use program BetterBatteryStats and see what's keeping your mobile phone awake, and also install CPU Spy to see on what frequency is your phone mainly working.

i updated to jellybean LI8 from stock t999 LH2 version, but because of super heavy battery drain i flashed it back to LH2 thru odin.
However i still get same heavy battery drain. i use up 10% every 1 hr just with screen on. before i used up about 3~5% for 1 hr.
i was able to get about 14~16hrs with normal use before, but now i dont think i can even get 10hrs.
it seems that the sim card area gets hot whenever the screen is on, and cools down when off. before flashing my phone was never heated
unless i was playing heavy graphic games..is there a way to completely flash the system files? or to fix this problem...pls help. thanks

I did jellybean update thru OTA here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850534, then i reverted to ics using odin and using the stock ota file here http://androidromupdate.com/2012/08/25/restore-back-t-mobile-samsung-galaxy-s3-sgh-t999-back-to-original-ics-4-0-4-t999uvalh2-stock-firmware/

yes the screen % is fine so i dont know where its draining the battery...
i think something wrong with system file because my phone really didnt get warm just from having the screen on.
is the method i reverted to ics correct? or is there another way to completly reset/overwrite my phone back to stock?
If your phone is working, your method wasn't incorrect. If you flashed the stock firmware through Odin, that's as virgin as it gets.
Battery Info and KakaoTalk are obvious culprits. Tell me about your wifi situation. Are you connected to a wifi network?
yeah usually i leave wifi and kakao talk on most of the day but it doesnt drain battery this fast...it just messed it up after the jellybean update., it was 100% this morning, 4 hours and now i got 60%. usually i would probably still have around 85%+
I'm in xquizit v26 and observed that I'm not getting a deep sleep and the battery drain in less than 5 hours. I reflash the rom with full wipe and still have the same issue. I step back and investigate what cause this problem. It seems that when I flashed the kitchen v6 with open vpn cause not to have a deep sleep. With out the open vpn I was able to get a deep sleep. On the first cycle I was able to get the 15hrs battery life. I will continue to observe this because the battery behavior can only be observed after 3 days.
I tried to post this in the ROM section but XDA wont allow it because I only have less than 10 post.

i tried re-flashing using odin while ago but still the same.
I would suggest flashing wildchlds XquiziT or DJintrigues Frosty JB. They both have done very good jobs at getting more out of your battery while still remaining stable. Being on the full stock leak i doubt you will easily find a way to acceptable battery life. At full stock i kind of remember LI8 being one of the worst for battery.
There are actually multiple causes, some depend on how you use the phone.
Another thing you can do to help hunt it down is get Better Battery Stats.
Also in Settings > Dev Options check show cpu usage and itll tell you what processes are using the processor in real time. You will likely see 2 or more that seem to stay at the top of the list.

Yes you can flash rom without kitchen. Hes actually working on a new release hoping for today I believe.
Kitchen was taken down due to possible bricks when using wallet and mobile odin.

it is really strange :S well you can check is there is a red light in the proximity sensor, check if the usb is working (sometimes it moves a bit and doesn't work until you find the position (it can take hundreds of tries to make it work) ) also check if the battery is inflate (really fat) and if the phone allows you to enter recovery or download mode somehow. also if u remember the version if it was 4.1.2 or 4.1.1.

Hi Friends,
I have a GT-N7100 and i updated it to 4.4.2 by taking the files from Sammobile N7100XXUFND3_N7100ODDFND2_INU. The phone was working fine till today evening. Initially it started to randomly reboot. Then suddenly it went completely into boot loop. But strangely when i connected it to power source it booted properly. I did factory reset, ROM flash multiple times and still the same issue persists. Can some one guide what might be the problem here?
I have done wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and factory reset also multiple times.
Solution: Seems the battery is gone Kaput. Also i believe the reason is due to a high voltage charger i was using for quick recharge. lesson learnt... Dont use a high power charger
will this be a battery problem, as the phone goes into boot loop only when removed from power source
