[Q] Note 2 N7100 Not charging On AC Adapter - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
first of all i am using rooted GN2 N7100.
ive been rooted for about more than 6 months, with stock roms. but this recent few weeks. my phone wont easily charge via AC adapter. i thought it was the adapter fault. the symptom is, a 1 second repeated gap of connect/disconnect when plugging in the adapter. and it will stop for a few minutes. and it will continue that way again and again. so ive made some test. tested that ive made are as below:
1. Tested the adapter with other phone. it works fine.
2. try to change the cable but with the same adapter, still wont work
3. try to change the adapter but with the same cable, still wont work.
so.. i thought at 1st it was the microUSB port for SURE!!! but im proven wrong when i desperately need to make my phone stays alive, i try to plug in the cable to PC USB port!! WALLA!!! it work just fine!!!!
so i thought it must be the software.. so i decided to flash a custom roms.. was hoping that it will replace the system files to a new one and making the charging works. after ive done that. it still wont charge.. and restore back to my backed up stock roms because i dont want to deal with all the "EFS" hanky panky thing.
so now im out of idea. (u know how pain it is to wait for ur phone to charge on PC USB right guys? )
by the way. i found out something, if i use a cable that is not capable on transferring data and connect it to the adapter and to my phone. it works just fine!!! what does this means?
i need all u pros out there to guide me on this. tried to google this case in 2 days aready. so i think, my case is one of a kind for note 2.
Because of my phone will charge normally using PC USB but not in AC Adapter. so i really believe my MicroUSB port is still in good condition.
i hope that im not wrong.
just please help... thousand thanks,

anyone? please..................

Ur problem is unique 4 sure. R u on 4.3 or 4.4?
U can check if an AC Adaptor+cable of other Note2 phones work?
If it does, buy new one.
If not, mUSB port could be a problem. U said it charges on PC. That is DC current not AC. Which suggests that your port is working partially. It is receptive to DC not AC.

Which ROM are you using?
Check settings/connections/USB to PC and make sure to check the box for "enable charging over USB"
I need to clarify more for my dash's problem.
When I use the wall charger my Dash could not be charged, samething with USB connect to PC. But sync to PC I have no problem at all.
my ROM version is 1.11.531.1
Cheap workaround

Try changing your rom or if that fails you could order the Dash Dock for PC with the extra battery charger. THis is a cheap workaround if your dash is not still under warranty. I saw a dash dock w/ battery and a car charger for 18$ the other day on AMAZON
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1EAKC73XQPYG3RGGKD2S
Now I cannot sync with PC anymore (try ur suggestion to changing ROM). Any help to update ROM by micro SD card ?

go to the last panel "settings" scroll left or right till you see, "USB to PC" click on it and remove the first check mark.
plug your phone back into the usb cord.
If I unmark that noway it will be connected to USB port. I did try and no luck
Did you try a new battery?
It seems from most of your past posts you are full of bad luck with phones. If you replaced your LCD screen recently, then you might want to be sure you installed it and all other functioning parts correctly. I believe there is a youtube post floating around that tells you exactly how that should be done.
That might be a reason it's not charging but any feedback helps right?
I agree with the above. As an electrically minded individual, I must say, that you either don't have something connected correctly, OR you are grounding out your system and there is no way to charge this. If you have grounded out your system. Check your internal electrical connections. This is what I do for a living. TRUST ME
Would you give me more details how
I read all of your posts and it appeared that I am at fault for fixing my own phone. Either I have a bad luck or I don't have enough skills to fix my Dash, at least I tried my best and also that the reason I came here for help. Please either help, advise, suggest but if you offer no help just be quiet instead of telling me that I am stupid. I may not know much about the phone likes the last 2 guys but I am willing to learn from your guys.

Problems with A/C charging please help!

Ok, I've searched for a couple of hours with no luck, so please don't kill me if the answer is already out there.
I plugged my phone into the pc and transferred a couple of files, nothing malicious. Now, when I plugged it back into the A/C adapter that came with the phone, it won't charge. I tried it again on the pc and it charges that way. I tried my girls Epic charger (with the A/C adapter that it came with) and it started charging...for about a minute. Now that one doesn't work with the adapter either, only the pc. Does anyone know what the deal is? I need my phone for work, as I am in the car all day, but I am afraid to use the car charger because I fear that will stop working as well.
Please help if u can. If u have any questions, please ask. Thank you very very much!

Anyone? Im kind of desperate here

Kind of an odd problem, and I don't have specific knowledge of it. But just some random ideas ("couldn't hurt" type stuff): have you tried powering the phone off, than on again? Or try taking out the battery and putting it back, making sure its firmly seated, and all contacts are touching?
Thanks for replying. Thankfully, my phone accepted a charge from the car charger. I did try a battery pull and reboot.
I found out the hard way that whatever happened also screwed up some settings...for example, the phone did not vibrate when the alarm went off this morning. I went jn and manually changed stuff back to my settings.
So basically, I can charge the phone with its original usb on a computer, but it won't work when plugged into the AC adapter. I can use the usb/ac adapter from the Epic (yesterday I thought I couldn't...that was my mistake). Essentially it seems like the usb or phone itself damaged the adapter, so it will no longer work. Problem is, I don't know if it will happen again. I'm toying with just contacting tmo and getting the phone replaced, but I don't know if they will send a new one (I got my phone in october, a couple of weeks after released)

Have you tried using your charger to charge a different phone? It might be possible that your AC charger is busted?

That's what I'm thinking. Its pretty unusual for a phone to accept a USB charge and not an AC one (the reverse seems the more typical problem). And especially if a charger for a different phone works.
I'd ask T-Mobile for a new charger, and go from there.
Thanks again for the replies, I really appreciate it. Yeah, I tried using the ac adapter with the Epic, using both usb cords, all with no luck. I just don't know how this happened. Plugged into the computer, then into the ac charger (like a hundred times before) and it kills the ac charger? Weird, and I'm worried about it happening with a new charger...I'm still under warranty, does tmo send new or refurb phones as replacements, I wonder...lol. thanks again!

my phone not charging with original power adapter.

Good day to all.
I have this problem with my note 2.
The problem is that it wont charge using the original cable and power adaptor that comes with it.
But if i combine the cable with adaptor used in iphone it works.
Im sure the power adaptor is fine because if i use it with other device it works.
There is also problem connecting to a computer.
While connected to a computer it will not also charge and not able to read by the computer. No response or anything.
I hope someone can give answer to my problem.

sorry just to clarify, you tried both the original note 2 cable and adapter with another device and it charged?
Just another case of faulty cable. Change it.

Yup. It worked with other unit..
Just because it works with another device, doesn't mean it's ok. If it's only putting out say 1amp, that would be enough to charge my SG2 for instance, but not the Note 2. Plug it in and monitor how much juice is coming in, I use battery monitor widget pro, but I'm certain that there are other options.

Charging Problem

Hey guys, I've done some searching and I'm still not entirely sure. The problem is that my phone can connect to my computer and is able to transfer files just fine but it will either never charge or charge extremely slowly (1%/2hours). Same thing happens with the wall charger and various other cables/adapters. I've already went back to stock and did a full wipe. The Galaxy Charging Current app does not work for me at all (only displays current_avg: 0). I'm planning to get my micro usb port replaced but I was wondering what are your thoughts on this.

I had the same issue with my S3. I happened to have a playbook charger around that chargerd it perfectly. It required a higher amperage than what the stock charger was providing. No amount of wiping, or flashing anything was fixing it. it was a hardware issue and i'm gonna guess that yours is too. Try another charger before going the replace micro route. An old moto charger that I had also worked. anything at about 2 amp did. The micro port is soldered to the board and the idea of having someone cut it off and re attaching it properly scared me.

But it will take around 4hrs, and what if it wont work.
Plz Guyz Help me
It sounds like your USB port on your phone is messed up. A lot of times with a bad micro usb port it will either not charge but sync data or it will not sync data but will charge. Also this goes for the actual usb cables as well. If you use a known good usb cable and it will either not charge or not sync dats on your pc, then it's most likely your usb port on your phone is bad. Even the refurbished devices sometimes will have bad ports that were not fully tested before passig QC so this is what I suspect is going on with your phone.

I've heard a bunch of people having this problem. My temporary solution was buying an additional batter w/charger for battery. But the usb flex cable I repaired myself last week. The part was $11.00 and the tools to pry apart and unscrew the phone were about $10.00. There are several tutorial videos on YouTube that guided me through the process.
