[Q] display control - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I know with the Nexus cellphone (galaxy, 4 and 5) has the app "display control" for ajust the display color etc. I would like to know if has one app similar?
Sorry my bad English.

Display Control from Franco needs a kernel that supports it and since most of G3s have a locked bootloader there are not many kernels around yet.
You can use Trickster Mod to modify the colors instead, but not the gamma.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but look in Settings > General > Accessibility > Color Adjustments. You can modify contrast and color balance.

Display Brightness between ROM's

Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is covered anywhere or if it's even an issue or maybe Percieved issue.
Between Flashing Cooked ROM's and Stock ROM's etc it always seems that the display while using stock ROM's doesn't seem as bright / vibrant - it always seems a bit duller at max Brightness, the Whites dont 'Pop' off the screen as much.
Is there any truth to this or is it just me? If it is the case what are the Chef's doing to make this so and can i do it to a Stock ROM?
Cheers
Paul
it can depend on 2 things
- kernel used -> some kernels disable or can disable "adaptive brightness" and modify color values
- the value set for auto-brightness in framework-res.apk. Most devs keep the standard values from google, I usually find them "too boring and dark" so i modify them.
So not your perception - you are quite correct

Ah thanks for the response. Though if i understand correctly this just affects the 'level' at which the brightness will be set at certain detected light levels on the Auto Brightness settings?
What i mean is that if i just go in and turn off Auto Brightness and slide it up to the Max - the Cooked ROM's always seem more vibrant and brighter.
Also is there anything that i'd be able to do to a Stock (rooted) ROM to get this extra Brightness?
Cheers
Paul

More details on this please?
Edit: nevermind, found it.
Mind Sharing Your findings MS? Or could someone else please help?

Here's something about content adaptive brightness:

You can turn it off with Franco's kernel app or with Supercurio's Voodoo display app, available in his thread here on xda.

Here it is. I had no chance yet to try it, but i believe it should work.
Thanks guys - went for Francos Kernel and can now adjust the levels with the tool

display settings on CM10

can somebody share their CM10 setting for the display light control please.
i find that is it to bright when in a dark room, what setting should i change to lower the screen auto brightness ?
thanx
I am also interested as I would like to decrease the screen's battery usage.
every setting will be personal, as testing conditions and displays always differ. experiment yourself, dont go over the stock limits and if you don't like your experiment's result, reset to default and start over.
search about gamma color control to know what it does.
and there's a sticky on a colorabotive effort to find the best setting in general subforum, i think. no need to start a new thread over this.

[DISCUSSION] What "Auto Brightness Levels" do you use (Paranoidandroid)

I'm new to Gnex, came from a Galaxy S Advance.
I noticed that the screen brightness from my Gnex on "Auto" is very dim - At least with Paranoidandroid 3.15 and AK Diamond 044 Stable.
Trickster MOD helped me to correct the colors, but not the brightness.
I found a lot of threads regarding this issue, also bugreports and blogposts, some referred me to apps like "lux" or "velis" to adjust the levels.
Now as Paranoid has that function built in "Settings -> Display -> Brightness -> Adjust" I wonder if someone else hassled with those controls and has some good results.
Here are my values, they are better than stock but not tested in an environment > 200lux.
Thank you for your shares!
Apps like Velis or YAAB are more intuitive for tuning auto-brightness than these CM type controls IMHO.

well, i dont like those apps, at least yaab runs as service in backgound and if it is running you are not able to set brightness with the brightness toggle in toolbar menu. But I admit it is laboriously (strange word... thx google) to set those values with the built in controls.

[Q] Screen adjustment

Hey all,
I remember of an app (and settings) to improve scree color/brightness/hue on the LG4 (I had that on my old dead one). That's not the Vision stuff. That was possible to manually specify values for RGB, brightness, contrast and hue. I know that can be achieved with Kernel Adiutor too, but I was quite happy with the suggested values in the thread.
Anyone?
Cheers!
W.

Manually change color saturation, contrast, RGB, etc.,

5T comes with a few color profiles and last one where you can slide from cool to warn modes.
But the profiles I like the most, have too much saturation on colors.
Are there any option/non-root app to manually fine tune color/contrast/saturation?
If not, there are any root app to do this?
Regards!
Very good question I have the same trouble with profile colours that we can manage in Oxygen OS.

Any kernel that has kcal as a feature can fine tune colour using kernel aduitor
