The screen does not wake on raising my arm or even with multiple gestures. The steps counter works fine however. Tried resetting a few times with no luck. Anything I can do?

I had the same problem with my 360! I had the watch loose on my wrist! I adjusted my watch to be a bit tighter and it seems to be working OK now!

Thanks but doesn't seem to do the trick.
I'm with the OP on this one. Sometimes, the screen turns on and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried flicking my wrist and that doesn't work either. Then when I start trying to make the problem happen, the screen comes on every time I bring my arm up.
I just wonder what is the precise action the watch is looking for to make the determination that you are looking at the watch (e.g., to tell time).
If anyone knows, I'd like to know so I can do precisely that.
Dennis
ps. Sometimes I miss my real watch because it always had the time. But I'm coming to the conclusion that we should stop calling these things, and comparing them to, "watches". They are really smart phone remotes.
It would be real nice to have a better understanding of the "secret handshake" to get the screen to turn on. If there is an irritation with the 360, this is seemingly my only one.
I would venture a guess, that those who root will probably wind up with a cool little gyroscope/debug feature that could probably begin to answer this question...
The trick is height, you can't just flick your wrist or turn it, you just have to raise it upwards too, I agree kinda sucks
Tried everything. Looks like a dud accelerometer so I just returned it. Going to wait for the Canadian release.

Yeah, that sounds defective. Did you have the latest update, the one released a few days ago? With it, I can raise my arm just slightly and flick my wrist and it turns on. The update made it more intuitive. Plus, make sure you are running stock clock faces. Some of the third party app clock faces stutter a bit and don't come on/off so smoothly.
I believe the trick is to tilt the watch towards you... as in lifting the top of the watch so that its at a 45 degree angle. I don't think speed or height have anything to do with it.

I have one of these dud accelerometers too. Nothing aside from a screen tap or button press wakes it. So annoying, going to get an exchange.
man i got depressed once i found this thread.
my watch has been working fine for a couple of days and now it doesnt work when i bring up my arm. it was perfect i loved every minute of it i couldn't complain. and now i have to tape the screen twice or click on the knob to get it to tell me the time. it still lights up and vibrates when i get notifications but whats the point.
hope someone resolves this issue real soon

Just sent mine in and waiting for the replacement. I don't think it's a software issue as it's not more widespread.

I had the same problem and was pretty despondent. Then I found a tilt to wake setting in the android wear app off on my phone, switched on and fixed!

So whenever I talk to my wife she always ends up hitting buttons on the screen. (mute, speaker, etc) I told her that the screen should automatically turn off and that maybe something was wrong with her device. As soon as I got home I tested it and it worked just fine. I couldn't get it to happen, light sensor was very responsive.
Somehow she manages to hit buttons and I have no idea how. I covered up the light sensor and tried hitting every button/screen area and nothing happened.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Is there something I can settings/mods wise to help?

Another funny thing is she said her boss at work has the same problem (female) and her husband has no issue.... Ha! I don't think they have Evos though.
my wife was having the same problem and we narrowed it down to her hair causing interference with the screen sensing that her face was against it. dont know if that makes sense but seemed logical to us and now that she tries to be aware of it and move her hair out of the way the problem doesnt seem to exist. hope this helps.

Weird! Does the screen actually turn on then? I should watch the screen next time she makes a call on it.
yeah the screen was turning on while she was using it. i think whenever she would basically readjust the phone against her head it would happen if the hair would cause interference...again i'm not claiming this is some scientific answer but its what we found seemed to be causing issues for her

How would the earrings affect it?
I think it's actually the proximity sensor being highly in tune to how close it needs to be to the ear/face. It takes very little movement of the phone during a call to trigger the sensor and turn the screen back on. They probably don't even realize they're moving the phone as much as they are.

I need to watch her during a call and test some things.
My sis has the same issues with the moment, and I tried it out and it was fine. She does seem to use it outside her hair and does have a lot of earrings. Though this is the Moment, it still runs android and has the sensors. I'll let her know and see if she'll enjoy her phone again lol.

Still not sure what the issue/solution even is.
She picked up my phone last night and accidentally hung up on the person during the call! I didn't get a chance to see what happened...
She's starting to hate these phones. I need a solution.
Not a joke...but are these ladies blonds? At start of thread I was thinking hair color or earrings too. But earrings shouldn't impact the sensor as it is up top of phone and earrings would be down toward the screen.
But...if their hair was very light color...and they had phone only loosely pressed to head, I could 'guess' that the hair had enough light reflecting through it to set off the sensor.
Another thing to check on the earring side....what part of phone contacts first...do earrings hit the screen before head covers up the sensor?
My wife had dark brown hair :x
My wife too. Dark brown hair. With and without earrings. Swapped out one device, same problem. She even made it happen on mine.
I have seen it get in a mode where the proximity sensor seems to get reversed. Near head, screen on, away from head screen off. A button gets pushed at some point and then when the screen is on you can't un-mute, un-speaker, or answer a returned call from the one she just hung up on.
I think we are going to have to get her a different phone
I have the same issue but it only seems to come up with AOSP ROM's (Cyanogen & UD)
If I call Sprint and hit the prompts followed by putting the phone to my ear it presses other numbers. I think there is a delay in the proximity sensor that's causing this. I don't have long hair and my face is clean shaved so it's not that.
If I go to show someone that when everything works perfect. It's like when you call tech support for Dell, Netgear, etc. It works when you're on the phone with them and when you get off it doesn't.
I've noticed this in the past. If you are talking on the phone and you cant it just a little bit away from your ear, towards your face, you can see the backlight come back on. Also, hair can carry a static charge. So if your ladies cant the phone and the screen turns on, their hair could trigger a button press.
Well, I didn't wanted to create two threads so I merged my two questions into a single thread instead.
1st, to my notice whilst playing games(tested on inotia 3, destinia), there are several occasions whereby the touch screen would not work(my character is not attacking so I know its not working) then after 2 - 4 seconds then it would work again.
Is there any solutions to this problem?
p/s: HTC Gestures is disabled btw.
2nd, I noticed a "clicking" sound when I press the bottom part of my One X. I am okay with the sound but will it lead to any possible defects in the future?
I get both these issues, the clicking is more noticeable when typing and is only happening in certain, areas

the sound comes from the specific area(it happens at all sides of the phone) that I pressed so I think its not the camera?
none of this may help, but my brother put a screen protector over his GS II and it wasn't as responsive as mine was.
but touching the screen shouldn't make a clicking noise unless it's the game sounds. you are either pressing too hard or you need a new phone before the whole thing comes apart.

Mine wasn't on screen protector, still naked. I am touching the case of the phone(the sides, the exterior part) that produced the sound.
p/s: the 1st and 2nd are two different questions, not related at all
I've noticed my HOX screen becomes unresponsive quite often, usually I have to press the power button to knock the screen off, then press it again and unlock but 9 times out of 10 it goofs up the game I'm playing. Happens a lot on Angry Birds.
So much for this being HTC's flagship device, so far I've been nothing but disappointed with it and its ridiculous manufacturing faults (also suffering from flickering screen, crap signal etc.)

Yeah, and since my country's currency is not as high as USD, so the price of this phone is elevated by a bigger margin(so I need to fork out more money to buy it) so it kinda disappoints me though
but what I am more concerned is that,
1. Is there a fix for the unresponsive touch screen?
2. Do I need to go for an exchange for the case "clicking" sound?
p/s: I am on the OTA 1.2.8 Asia Region
1. Probably not until kernel source is released.

Hey guys I recently bought my moto 360 and love it! The only problem I'm currently experiencing is that the watch face no longer wakes when I turn my wrist to look at the watch. This is extremely annoying because I want to be able to have more functionality with just one hand. Other than that the watch works perfectly. I've even been getting 16 hrs+ battery life on average. I tried looking through the settings to see if there was an option to change the wake settings but there are none. I don't see any other forums or anyone else posting about this issue so if you've had this issue please let me know what you did to fix this. ThankS!!
That started happening to me after the most recent update. Battery life improved by a few hours but then the wrist turn stopped being reliable

Since battery life is a bit more reliable, have you tried going with Ambient Mode again? While it admittedly doesn't last as long on as off, it does result in much more 'reactive' wrist turns to tell the time more quickly and repeatedly.
mine's a bit odd. Wakes fine normally, but when I mute notifications, it doesn't wake the screen unless I really move my wrist in an obvious way.
I actually got it to work now. The problem was going on when I had the keislertech stainless steel band on it. I switch the band with the leather one and the watch started waking every time I turned my wrist. I'm guessing the steel band was interfering with the accelerometers considering they use electromagnets.
Im still having this problem. And im only using the leather band. Any fix? Yesterday was working fine when i was driving to work then i noticed at work when i twisted my wrist nothing happened.
Try more of a 'flick' with your wrist than a 'turn' with your wrist.
I too am having this issue. I just did a complete factory reset on the device, still no luck. I was worried my gryoscope may be busted, but it seems to be working at least by using a testing app I found, though I am not sure how reliable that is.
No matter how hard I flick my wrist, the screen won't come on. What's more, putting it in Ambient mode will show the black and white screen for 1 second, then the screen turns off, as if the device was face down.
Quite honestly, I think it may be a busted Gryoscope, which would suck, so I'm going to test a few more things and see.
---------- Post added at 11:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:13 AM ----------
Factory Reset with no apps installed didn't help. Called Motorola, they are shipping me a new device.
Can't think of it being anything other than a busted Gyro that always points down.
Question for the OP, at any time did you use the latest Nexus QI charger to charge your device? Doubt that has anything to do with it, but want to know just in case.
Well, the Gyro in my watch is working again, but I'm still going to follow through with the replacement, since I don't want to risk it happening again. Nothing was done to fix it, it just randomly started working Saturday night. The sensor test I mentioned earlier is showing full functionality now.
Candidly, you're probably smart to do so. Tech being what it is, often times you get a device with bugged hardware. Let us know how the replacement works out for you.

Same problem here... Seems to have a link with aftermarket QI charger. The first time I've put it on the charger pad the screen flipped upside down. Since then, no waking up from wrist movement and even on the original charger it's showing upside down.

Got mine working again. If you haven't already tried, open android wear app on your phone, then toggle the setting "tilt to wake screen" a few times (make sure it ends up ON however). Also, on your watch, make sure theatre mode is off.
I was having the same problem. It was theater mode. Somehow it was turned on,I turned it off and now the wake function works again.

So i have an H812 model and last year i had the dreaded boot loop issue but got it fixed under warranty and no issue since with that. The issue that is irritating the hell out of me now is that the double tap to turn screen on just stopped working reliably. It barely ever works.
I've tried the sensor calibration from the hidden menu and i have a question about that also. My sensor acts like it calibrates fine but the # next it seems kinda low (# next to proximety cal pass ...). It's around 48. See screenshot for reference taken from xda https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3513220&d=1445359160
Has my sensor just crapped out? and if so, is that normal. Any help would be appreciated, i've gotten so addicted to using that feature that people ask me what the hell i'm doing when i try to turn their phones screen on lol.
Edit: No screen protector on btw and the internal board as far as i can see seems fine too. And the double tap to turn screen off works fine.
Thanks

Is the little black rubber plug in the prox sensor. They may have forgot to put it back in. This little black plug is required for proper prox sensor to function properly.
Thnaks for the response but It worked perfectly for quite some time after the board was replaced by the service center so don't think that's it.

So i opened it up and checked the rubber piece just to make sure and it's there. Everything else looks ok. I guess the sensor just crapped out and will just continue to live with it.
Hi, just noticed that a bit of a upper display's screen touch is dead and won't respond to touch input. It started I think 4 days ago. I don't remember dropping the phone or anything similar like that. Is there a trick to fix it or its simply dead and it won't recover? I know that if that happened on my old nexus 7 2012, cold restarting fixed it, but it's not working with my HTC 10. I can kinda work around it, it's a spot I don't use too often (although I can't check format Cache in TWRP )
So, any meaningful idea? I can't afford to replace the screen for the second time in a year...
There's screenshot of the line, from left to right whole part.

I've got the same problem.
For a while I managed to get away with zapping it w/ igniter from a MAP gas torch. Now it's really dead
Basically, you remove the piezoelectric igniter from any lighter / torch and zap the screen.
