[Q] Hardware difference between US models and the Canadian Model - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
There's not much information available (or at least I couldn't find any), on the difference in hardware between the US G3 models (D851/D855) and the Canadian model (D852).
Thanks,

Others have said that the AT&T version is very similiar to the Canadian one. Check the post for Canadian users.

Yeah I've read that somewhere, but I've yet to see an official or reliable source. If the AT&T and Rogers Version are the same but different branding, then custom roms for AT&T G3 should work fine on the Rogers one, if we get a bootloader unlock.

Yeah, its the same deal with the SGS3 I have. There are no Canadian custom ROMS, we all use at&t ROMS with unified updater-script file

Thanks. I think I'll be selling my G3 anyways soon, just wanted more info.

AT&T and canadian phones (bell and rogers) are the sake just different model numbers essentially.

hardware
well then if there's no diffrence in hardware, why there is no radio in my d851?

LG Optimus LTE (P936) coming out on April 21th / chance to have ICS?

I recently heard that the Hongkong-Version of the LG Optimus LTE, named P936 will come out on April 21th. Since there isn't really a difference in hardware specs, i wonder if they will add official ICS (that later can be ported to all other versions of the phone).
Any news regarding this?

The P936 is coming out with the same baseline as the P930, and getting ICS at about the same time.
Also, CM9 works unmodified on the P936
What exactly is the point of it coming out than?

Having a model that's compatible with the rest of the world, especially Europe. The existing variants' LTE antennae only work for the specific providers they came out on; Most of Europe is now deploying LTE, at different frequencies.

[Q] How is compatibility between Note II variations in terms of ROMs?

I'm seriously considering purchasing the T-mobile Note II (SGH-T889), but I realize that it has some hardware variations compared to the international version and other US versions. If I want to flash a ROM, will I have to find one specifically made for the T-mobile variant or will I be able to use any of the ROMs in the development section? Will developers simply make them universally compatible?
T Mobile t889 roms only that's not to say a little while down the road the devs won't be able to find out how to flash ROMs across variants

[Q] Intenational ROMs on Sprint

Hello all,
I have a friend with the original Galaxy Note who is running the ParanoidAndroid ROM. I found that same ROM for the Galaxy Note II, but only for the international version.
I also found a ROM I'd prefer over the original ParanoidAndroid ROM, JellyBam. This ROM is also exclusive to the international version of the device.
My question is can I safely flash either of these, or I will I be left with a brick? If I can't flash them how they are, is it possible for me to edit them for it to work on the Sprint version?
EDIT: Utacka, the lead developer for ParanoidAndroid, has confirmed he will port it. The only reason we have to wait is because CM10 isn't officially released for the Sprint Note II yet.
+1 PA would be awesome in this device. Cant wait for it!

Right, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to port an international ROM over to our devices.

You either become a dev or hope one of the current devs ports it/builds the same rom from the ground up.

I'll try contacting Utacka (developer of ParanoidAndroid) and iGio90 (developer of JellyBam) to see if they could port it over. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll try porting it over.

best of luck to you i hope they can try and get it working but if you where to try porting it that could be difficult and dangerous to test if it worked. however i remember seeing someone say the compiled an aosp rom and everything expect data worked
I'd first start with a call to Sprints international dept. and ask about unlocking gsm radios...I have no idea what they did to turn them off....but I doubt just flashing a new international ROM will get them to work. Remember the International n2 has slightly different hardware iirc.

Besides the radios being different and the removal of the optional charging pins, what other differences are there?

IIRC all Note2s have mostly the same cell radios question is what is enabled by the carrier. Some variants have fm radio tuners and som have dual SIM card slots. I thought earlier the intl note2 had a slightly different SoC but I was temporarily insane at that time.

I'd just be porting the N7100 (International) ROM to the L900 (Sprint), so I'd only have to worry about the differences between those models.
According to Wikipedia:
The only differences are 2G/3G/LTE connectivity and the charging pins.
N7100:
GSM: quad-band
UMTS: quad-band
LTE: no
Charging pins: yes
L900:
GSM: quad-band
CDMA/EVDO: 800, 850, 1900
UMTS: 1900
LTE: 1,900(band 25)
Charging pins: no
Mod(s) please close thread.

[Q] Looking to get a new phone

I've got an AT&T upgrade available and am trying to decide between this and the Note 2, so far I'm leaning towards this but I have a couple of questions first.
How is development coming along? I looked at the Dev sections but they are completely empty so should I just assume it isn't rooted yet? Or is it that the bootloader is not unlocked yet?
If its still all locked down, how is progress coming along with it, or is there anywhere I could read up to find out more?
If I don't make sense, feel free to ask me questions or give me links to anything. Just got off a 10 hour shift when I'm used to 4 so my brain is kinda fuzzy at the moment. Thanks guys I hope to be posting more in the Optimus section soon.
The AT&T model is rooted and bootloader unlocked. Devs are working on custom roms. There is a base rom for devs and those who want to a debloated stock rom plus goodies.
You'll find more info in the AT&T forum for the LGOG.

Well thanks, I honestly didn't even notice the AT&T version forums. Is this just a general Optimus G area or is this a specific version?

[Q] Can the T-Mobile M8 use ROMs from the global section?

This is my first GSM phone since my iPhone on AT&T so I am used to the development sections being flooded with ROMs (sprint and Verizon, GNex and M7). However there's only one I believe in the T-Mobile section and it links to the global version.
Can I just flash regular M8 ROMs or do they have to be Tmous to work?

They don't have to be specific to tmo but most will list what they are compatible with anyway.

I flashed Android Revolution from the International forum no problem...they stated it was possible thought (just no sprint or verizon variants)
You can flash ROMs from the international thread, with some of them you will lose Wi-Fi calling. Viper ROM supports T-Mobile with Wi-Fi calling.

I'm using insertcoin Rom and wificalling is included in aroma select obviously tmo m8 and all tmo craps apear WiFi calling my account city I'd exct also tmo ui data icons
Enviado desde mi HTC ONE M8 S=OFF UNLOCKED SUPER CID ???
How are you guys liking those ROMs? Obviously there aren't a lot of choices right now in the T-Mobile section so checking out something else is tempting.
Insert coin is great
Emm Eight
Its not in the development section

You can flash any roms from the international variant threads, as well as AT&T
